Have been to JPT twice within that last 6 weeks. One time was for a helix and second time was for a flat piercing. This place is just so cool!! The vibe is so chill. I got my ears pierced with John, two lobes and a helix in one sitting. He seemed pretty knowledgeable and I asked a lot of questions before hand particularly about the metals since I have a metal allergy. He let me know that all of the earrings were titanium and that there was a very rare chance that I would be allergic to them since most metal allergies stem from nickel and titanium allergies are very rare and that these were very high quality and did not contain any nickel in them. They definitely came with a high quality price tag as well with the earrings I got ranging from $75-$175 each, making the entire cost with the piercings $600 for 3 (a little outrageous if you ask me but I came all that way and I was determined to get these piercings). The place was very clean and sterile, almost like a doctor's office. And John responded quickly to my email about downsizing several months later. However, two of my piercings never healed. For two years they stayed swollen and painful and would sometimes have bumps and ooze and crust occasionally but I just kept pushing forward for two years thinking that it was because my body is poor at healing or because that was the ear with two piercings done at the same time so possibly it would take twice as long to heal. When I went in for downsizing several months after the initial piercing John didn't see any issue with it, he did think it was a little odd that they were still painful but didn't say much about it. I wasn't given much advice on cleaning it, both at the initial piercing and later, he kinda just said leave it be maybe occasionally spray it with saline once a week or so. A few days before the downsizing I went to buy earrings at a piercing shop in Korea and the piercer made a face and almost a gasp when he saw how swollen my piercing looked. I let him know it was still kinda new but he told me I should change it out which is why I scheduled the downsizing appointment (originally supposed to be upsizing but John let me know that I had a ring of crust around it so I could downsize instead). Because John didn't see an issue with it and we managed to change the bar to a shorter one I thought I was healing fine and just kept pushing on. Fast forward to a few days ago I was looking at earrings at another piercing shop in Korea once again. My piercings were still very much swollen with a little bit of crust and bumps and a little scabbing on one of them. When the piercer at this shop saw my piercings she gasped and told me I should change it immediately. She said it looked like I was having an allergic reaction to the earrings and that I should get it changed to 14k gold instead since that's what they use in Korea for metal allergy. Since I was told at my initial piercing that Titanium allergies are incredibly rare it never occurred to me that the reason why my piercings never healed was because I was allergic. I always ruled that one out thinking there was no way I could be allergic to it. Once I got it changed to 14k gold with a longer bar for it to breathe my piercings felt immediately better and the swelling has even gone down some. To top it off, the prices of the earrings weren't even a third of the price of the ones I got here! I guess piercings and earrings are pretty cheap in Korea, I'm not sure why they up the prices for the same products so much in America. From now on I'll probably just stick to getting piercings and buying earrings in Korea, they seemed a lot more knowledgeable about my condition as well since it's a common Asian condition. Overall, while this place would probably be good for most, I feel like for me it was a waste of $600 and 2 years of my life. (Even my 24k gold earrings as a pair cost less than one of these earrings and I'm not allergic to it!) For the price it really isn't worth it considering all that, and I would highly advise against it if you know you have a metal allergy. I'm frustrated that I wasted so much time with these overpriced allergy inducers and now I'm only just now beginning my real healing journey after all that. If you don't have a metal allergy and you have a pretty penny to spend on some basic looking earrings you're probably fine going here. I have nothing against the place or the piercer I'm just a bit frustrated at myself mostly and the lack of awareness there was for my allergy. read more

However once I had gotten the first piercing it looked so beautiful and was pretty much painless, so I kindly asked John if he had time would he be willing to pierce the other ear as well.
