Amazing customer service. Very friendly staff and management, but they keep trying to raise prices or shrink portions too frequently.

The operations of this place are terrible. I gave it a second chance after a bad first experience and this time was even worse. To be fair, the space is WAY too small for the volume they get at lunch. However, if you can't service your customers efficiently then something has to change. The first time I went I ordered an avocado toast box, and a smoothie. They ring you up and take your money real quick, but then completely forget about you. There is no process for distributing orders that are not salads and none of the cashiers have any idea what's going on. I must've been asked 5 times what I was waiting for. Then they gave my smoothie to another customer, and when I pointed it out to the cashier she rolled her eyes and went to make me another one. 2nd time, I thought, ok I'll be smart and order online so that I just walk in and pick it up. Wrong. 2 of my colleagues and I ordered at the exact same time and was told our orders would be ready at 12:14pm. We walk in at 12:15 and none of them were ready. Mind you there's about 15 people standing in front of the register waiting for orders so we go around a corner to patiently wait for our orders to come out. After a few minutes I notice people going up to the register and showing copies of their receipt on their phone and then their order gets made. Then the cashier starts shouting out who has an online order and whoever shouts their name first gets their food. WTF?! So by the time we understand what's going on we go up, give them our names and 2 of us get our meals. But they're not even complete. We both order chips and there were none in our bag. We notice chips in front of the register, but not the kind we ordered online so we ask a cashier for what we ordered and are told "just take whatever's there. We're out of most chips." The fact that they hand you a bag that's incomplete and don't even tell you have to grab your own chips is a BBB complaint waiting to happen. On top of all this the 3rd order we were waiting on took an additional 15 minutes after we got the first 2! We all could have gone through the entire line for the time we spent in the store. The salads are fine, I don't have complaints about the food quality. But for the prices they charge I want a flawless customer-service experience, and this place fails majorly at that. read more

Ordered a wrap with the dressing mixed in and they did not include it at all. I was left essentially eating bunches of unflavored kale and hard beans and corn. The other locations are usually totally find so it's a wonder why this location has so many issues which you can also see in the other reviews here. read more

The name says it all.. this place is Just Salad- nothing special about it. I got the Chipotle Cowboy salad, which seemed to have a lot in it, but it was so incredibly boring. The lettuce was wilted and there was barely anything in it. There are so many better options, do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

While the taste is still good, my satisfaction is declining with each visit. Today I learned quinoa is no longer available. Also, the portion sizes have been decreasing the last 2 visits, not enough main protein (chicken) or other ingredients. I will try another location, but if I experience the same, sad to say I will be taking Just Salad out of my lunch rotation. read more

Food was great, prices a little steep and the staff.....well, they could be a little bit more friendly. I will say the sound man that made my order was very nice and make sire that I was getting my salad the way I wanted it. Although this is called "Just salad" they do have sandwiches, soup, chips etc... The location is great as well, near a lot of the area's hotels and it's a nice option to the overpriced hotel restaurants. read more

Ok...for starters I REALLY wanted to like this place. Really. I waited months for it to open. But I have to say, I've tried it three times and every time was disappointed. The first time I went in I ordered The Wedge... that's a basic, traditional salad... we ALL know what a wedge is. NOPE! It ended up being romaine lettuce, and very bland. The second time I tried, I ordered the Tulum Getaway. OMG it was so hot that I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. The Jalapenos were diced so small I couldn't even pick them out. I had to throw away a whole salad. And I LOVE hot, spicy food. So third time... last chance. I got the Beach Bound. Very bland. The thing that screwed up this particular visit was not the actual salad... it was the stress level in the restaurant. I took a friend who had never been there before and he was trying to figure out what he wanted and the employees pushing everyone through as fast as they can, taking orders, snapped at him and he got stressed. The pace of the whole place is so frenetic that it makes the experience overwhelming for the customers. I understand that they have a line, and they want it to move. But making the experience unpleasant for your customers is just a bad move. I hope they find a good balance. But from this customer's opinion... I have enough stress at work. I was not impressed by Just Salad. They just opened in my building, so I went to get a custom wrap. However, the people working behind the counter were very rude and short with me, and when I asked them to explain the product (seeing as they're a new place and I've never been there before) they barely told me anything and acted put out with me. They rushed me out of the place, and the falafel in my wrap was very dry and old tasting. The lettuce was great quality, though. I think this could be a nice place, but the prices are too high for the value and the customer service was terrible. I'll go a block away to Freshii. read more

Based on 5 star review, tried it. Bewildering to first timer. Overhead Menu did not last additional protein options. Noisey unsettling experience. Might have been the rain snd hard surfaces multiplying the clatter of the chopping, but i was totally unable to hear/ understand any of the servers. Embarrassing to keep asking them to repeat. Portion generous, tasty. Even checkout was bumpy. Wasn't told that napkin and for were in bag til I'd already grabbed a fork. Ignorance was not bliss. No eat in space. Staff: Everyone was nice and friendly. I consider myself a regular and everyone address's me by my name... in fact the staff knows my exact order every time! Impressed with their feeling of inclusion and kindness. Food: Every time I order, I choose the Tandoori Fire without the feta cheese or cucumbers. By bringing my reusable bowl, I add the sweet potatoes (incredible), edamame, and quinoa. Lastly, I top it off with the spicy avocado dressing (one of the best ive ever had). Hands down one of the best salads you can get in Chicago. Value: The price is right given the serving size, food quality, and level of service! Great bang for your buck here. This location has such high turnover. What the heck? Now the employees aren't allowed to touch your reusable bowl, the bowl they sold you to cut down on waste, so they use the salad tossing tongs to grab the bowl and make you close the lid yourself. Good grief. It's all about the profit-don't waste the rubber gloves, or something. I work in the building and am willing to pay over $10 for a salad-treat me with some respect, servers. I liked the product but the atmosphere is stressful. I went on their opening day, and then another time. The lines are very long, so the staff needs to move quick but it is a get in/get out kind of thing. I'm not complaining, just warning. The suggested salad options are very nice. I haven't tried the "make you own" salad option yet, but it looks like another good option. They give a large amount for a fair price. I also like that you can have the option of chopping the salad. My one complaint is that they gave me a resusable salad container with the promise that you get a free topping or two if you use the container, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case. I still like the container, but just don't promise something if you are not going to deliver. read more

The romaine in my salad today was frozen. I dont know what is going on with this location, but this isnt the first time my team and i get frozen lettuce. We also ordered from them on Tuesday and the beans we're so dry they tasted raw. We are frequent costumers and every time something is wrong with our order. First & last time I ever ate there was yesterday. I ordered the Barbacoa Market Plate for lunch, which literally made me sick to my stomach for the rest of the day. The kale and sliced sprouts tasted like they had not been washed; they were very bitter. And the broccoli looked like it had been scavenged from a dumpster. Correct me if I'm wrong but raw, uncooked broccoli should be green, not brown, right? Honestly, I wasn't kidding about being sick to my stomach after eating at this place. I go to this Just Salad location most workdays. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The ingredients are always fresh. I usually do the build your own which gives me a lot of options to vary my salad. The lines can be long but they move quickly and are worth the wait. I have tried other salad places but this one is the best I have found. read more

Ok, so the first time I came in I guess they were having a meeting. It was one tall lady behind the counter manning the fort. She did awesome by the way. She explained the whole process to me. Everything on the menu is always fresh and delicious. I've lost 10lbs so far and I'm loving it. I really love this place and maybe the 3 pleasant employees. Nydra always takes great care of me. Noir is the lady that helped me first and got me hooked though. She's running things so I think she's the GM in charge. If so good job ladies. I'm a lifetime customer now!! I went to Just Salad with some co-workers. We all had ordered online around noon. This was my first time going / ordering from there and based on their website, it looks like they pride themselves on having a 15 minute turnaround. Little did I know this would be strike 1. We walk in at 12:15 expecting to pick up our orders and similar to other places they have a designated space for pick up but none of our orders are there. There are two distinct groups of people; those in line and those waiting for pick up. You can tell who has been waiting a long time by the looks on their faces and the huffing and puffing going on. I tried not to think anything of it but as minutes passed by i started to become one of them. People in the line ordering on the spot were being taken care of ahead of me. I asked the cashier who kept saying 2 more minutes but didn't move to check on it. Then the guy that was supposed to be working on the to-go meals took every opportunity to jump on the register instead of helping with the volume. Overall they need more space, better processes for the staff, and possibly separate lines based on what is being ordered (salad, wrap, smoothie, etc). There looked to be one person in charge but he was working so hard to catch up on volume that he didn't realize the rest of the ship was sinking. Strike 2 was that I had ordered my wrap online and had specified no celery only to have to pull out chunks while i was eating it. Luckily it isn't an allergy just a strong dislike. Strike 3 would be not meeting/exceeding my expectations as a new customer. First impressions are important, especially in Chicago when there are a bunch of lunch options available to those that work here. If i had a meeting I would have missed it because I had already paid for a product i was expecting to pick up and go but then had to wait twice as long to get it. I may give them a second chance and will buffer the 15 min window for pick up. read more

I have been tempted to write this review a few times but always want to give this Just Salad location the benefit of the doubt. I always order my salads online, they say they will be ready in 15-20 minutes, I go there at the time they're supposed to be ready and end up waiting another 10-15 minutes before it's actually ready. I don't know if it's because the online orders aren't prioritized when there are people in line in person or what. It's too bad because the salads are decent, the staff working there are all really friendly and nice, it is just a process/logistics issue that prevents this from being a reliable, go-to lunch spot in the area. That said, until the issue is resolved, it's much more efficient to go elsewhere. read more

I seriously love this place but had to knock down a star - they started putting mint in the quinoa so if you don't like mint, then you can't get a grain bowl. It's a serious bummer. This review is solely for the Just Salad on Adams... kudos for providing a healthy though overpriced option for lunch. Great selection of quality, good-for-you ingredients. My issue is with staff/service. Today I asked for a keto salad, which I have been ordering for the past two months. I was told today it was no longer offered. Ok. I'm trying to tell the person who originally took my ticket that I'll try the new pesto chicken salad, but she is so busy yelling at people to move down and grabbing the next ticket that she doesn't hear I thing I say. In the middle of trying again the ticket gets handed off, and I start again. At the register (and boy you had better be ready with cash/plastic) I was stunned by the price... only to find after I got back and really studied my receipt (I didn't dare do it there for fear I would get yelled at to move so they could rake in more money) that in their haste they not only didn't give me credit for using the blue reusable bowl, but I got charged for the two extra ingredients that are supposed to be free when you use the reusable bowl. Slow down people. It's just a salad - we're not trying to break the land speed record. read more

I am a Just Salad regular, and only at this location! In fact, every time I get to the register, I ask them if they've gotten sick of me yet. I don't understand the negative service reviews because I've never once had a bad experience here! Many of the reviews here mention the busy nature of this location, and the fast paced environment. As long as one continues to go into a popular salad bar in the middle of the day in downtown Chicago, one can expect the environment to be hectic and fast paced. I don't understand how that's a bad thing. The place gets BUSY, and it's small, so their priority becomes getting people in and out, as many customers are on their lunch breaks. This is how it should be. Personally, I'd prefer to be in and out as quickly as possible, as I work a job that doesn't always allow me to leave my desk for long. As long as you are respectful as you're ushering me through a quick moving line (and they are always respectful), that's more than fine by me. Beyond that, the staff knows my exact order and they know me by name! That, to me, is great customer service, even on an off day. When I'm given that kind of attention, I return as a customer. Not to mention, the manager of this location is always very nice, encouraging, and has a very positive energy about him, both to his staff, and to the customers. I always go in knowing that my experience matters. The food is fantastic! I have never had an issue, taste or otherwise, with my regular salad, which is the Chipotle Cowboy. It's savory and delicious! Also, this place has the BEST salad dressings I've ever tasted in my life, and if they actually sold their dressings separately, I would buy the Chipotle Vinaigrette in bulk. The ingredients are always fresh, and I believe the price is more than fair and accurate to both the quality and the portion size, and you can't really beat that. Speaking of the cost, another thing that should always be expected ANYWHERE is an upcharge for additional toppings. You add something, you pay extra. Don't want to pay extra? Use your reusable bowl, or don't add an extra topping. Simple as that. Just Salad upcharges very fairly according to what you add, and I have never had an issue with this. I guess the 5th time wasn't the charm. I've been to this "Just Salad" on Adams St. several times (high hopes that each time would be different) and the last 3 times have been terrible. I thought maybe it was the staff at the particular time and day that I chose to go but nope, wrong! Service still sucked and the salads are indeed basic. I went around 10:30am to (1) beat the lunch hour rush and (2) just to see if the service would be different. Wrong again!!! I was the ONLY customer in the store (3 workers were sitting and 5 or 6 were behind the counter) and no one smiled, said a kind word or acted like I was a factor. Not to mentioned that I had to remind the one making my salad (buffalo chicken) what all went in it as he was first putting grilled chicken in it and forgot to include the tortilla strips. Really??? I recently moved to Chicago from NYC where Just Salad, Chopt and Sweetgreen duke it out to sell salads to hungry NYers. I was actually super excited to find a Just Salad close to work since the Sweetgreen is a hike from Willis. My initial experiences with this Just Salad were not good at all (rude people, incomplete salads, etc) so I did what most of us do and complained. I was shocked that within two hours of sending my email, I received a phone call from the store manager Kyle. He was super apologetic and offered to make me a whole other salad/lunch if I was willing to come in for another try. About two weeks after that conversation, I made the trip and sure enough Kyle took care of me. I really appreciated the time and energy of making things right. I hope that it will continue as I do plan to keep going back. read more

Just Salad is a fantastic concept and obviously there is an appetite for it judging by the enormous lines at lunch. They have a good variety of ingredients and dressings so I was very excited to try it for the first time. Unfortunately, I was incredibly disappointed. The salad I ordered (Buffalo Chicken) was almost entirely all huge pieces of lettuce, but the dressing was good so I can sort of overlook it. However, the main point of contention is that they seem to have zero process in place for accommodating online orders. There is no system and therefore it makes the wait for both the folks that ordered in advance and those waiting in line to place their orders twice as long. My colleague waited for 30 minutes to get her order that she placed online. I placed my order online and had ordered chips. When I was given my bag, there were no chips in it. When I asked the cashier if they had the chips I ordered, he said no and that I could just grab whatever was left on the shelves below the register because that's all they had left. Overall, I'm not planning on heading back any time soon until I hear that they have worked out their system. read more

Both the Just Salad locations in the Loop are fantastic. I usually go to this one on Adams 3-5 times a week. The folks that work there make an effort to remember my name and say hello and goodbye when I come and go, which I find to be unique among the Loop lunch spots. The large variety of salads are all fresh, healthy and tasty. Highly recommended. read more
