Everything that everyone has said about this place is absolutely true! The guy who owns and works at this place is honest and friendly. So it was no surprise that there were some cars ahead of me. I asked how long it would take and he said 45 minutes. I didn't really want to wait, but since he had such good reviews I decided to stay. So I went to Starbucks and Target (which are only a few minutes away). When he was almost done with my car, he called my cell phone to let me know. So when I arrived back to his shop, my car had been smogged, I paid the $40 and I was on my way. Great service and great price! read more

I went to this place for the first time today, and it was a great experience from start to finish. I got there at 9, and the owner (he's the only person who works here, yet he is super fast!) soon arrives and he gives me a friendly wave as I sat in my car. It took less than an hour to wait for the 3 people in front of me and do my smog check. Also, when I called the day before, I was quoted $40 for the check. But after looking at the car (because it was just 2yrs old), he gave me a discount. The owner was also nice enough to spend some time with me to answer all my questions. Very friendly, quick service. One of the advantages of having a friendly and engaging proprietor is that, If you are inclined, you can get information about your car and possible pitfalls that could affect your smog test results. Since it is a test only site, you don't get answers that are biased toward selling you something else. He works pretty fast, so you won't be there long. But you might as well have an enjoyable experience dealing with someone who is genuinely nice and dedicated to helping his customers. read more

This place is A #1...... I have been taking my cars to a shop where one of my friends work and been paying more and not passing.... Just smog tried to run my truck and would not pass cause of a miss fire. He said maybe it needed a tune up... I asked him how much I owed him he said nothing... Just Smog is the name and that's all that he does. The guy working there seems pretty honest & there's no reason for him not to be since he doesn't do repairs. I've taken several cars there in the past & I don't recall ever paying more than $40 (with certificate). Plus he is fast, courteous, & you don't need an appointment. read more

I normally don't write reviews but this place earned it. Great customer service. They complete the job on time and they go above beyond. My car had a gas tank mechanism that was broken and they fixed it without even telling me with no extra charge. Got my car smogged here yesterday. I've been going here for a few years. Lim is great! When I pulled my car in, I told him the driver side indoor door handle was broken so he has to open the door from the outside. While he was smogging my car and since he wasn't busy, he decided to remove my door panel and see what the problem was. The cheap plastic handle was cracked in half. Well a couple of drilled holes and four zip ties later I had a working door handle! Lim even told me if I got a new handle he would replace it for me. The handle was too expensive and Lim's "fix" worked so well I didn't bother with the new handle. As long as Lim is there I won't take my vehicle to any other smog station. read more

Took my car in for a smog check a few months back after reading some reviews on Yelp. Brought the car in at 8AM and left 15 mins later. My second visit was just this morning. My G/F needed to get her car smogged so I took her here. Same experience, 15 mins turn around. Owner was friendly and professional. Got the chance to pet Tyson, a very friendly dog. 5 star in my book. read more

This place probably does not need another 5 star.. I came to this place only my usual smog man could not hook up my new BMW M Coupe for an out-of-state registration. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable, took care the smog in less than 15 minutes. He is also a BMW autophile. He gave me some advices on bimmers as well. SAN LORENZO SMOG - "Just Smog" is a really great place for San Lorenzo residents to get their smog checks.Yes, I know it is technically in Hayward. It is right next door to the Goodwill, across the street from the Target on A street. It is a test-only station, but don't let that throw you. V charges only $40 and runs around quick to get your car done. He is the first HONEST smog guy I have ever met. It is a drop-in service. He has so much business because, yes, he is THAT good and fair. Bring a book, because he is worth the wait (which is usually around 15-30 mins). Or just chit chat with the locals. Dog Tyson will be happy to greet you and spend time with you. HE IS BUSY BECAUSE HE IS THE BEST. If his line is long, just park next to the building. I have been WAITING to find a smog person I can trust. read more

There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said. There were a couple of cars in front of me, so I waited half an hour instead of the apparenlty usual 15 minutes. $40 is half the price I've paid for smog checks over the past 15 years, the savings made up for the increased cost of my registration. read more

First off I'd like to say that old cars suck....especially here in CA. Took this smog shop 6 attempts over a period of 9-10 months and multiple visits to a repair shop to get my '85 to pass. Not one bit of hesitation from V., the owner, he welcomed me back every time even on the 5th or 6th attempt. Great guy, thanks to him, I'm finally legal again. Of all the times he ran my car on the dyno and all the time he spent....I should have paid him hundreds of dollars, but nope, just charged me what he normally charges for a 15 min smog. read more
