I spent a month in Jamaica and fell in love with the people, food and culture. Living in Atlanta,…read moreone of the most prominent chocolate cities in the US, we have access to Soul food, Soul Vegan, Nigerian, Haitian, Caribbean, and Ethiopian restaurants. Naunie's is a marriage of Jamaican and Hispanic Caribbean foods. The owners are actually of Jamaican and Black/Hispanic descent, they grew up surrounded by these foods. I stopped by Naunie's looking to appease a craving for Good Caribbean food. *Swoon* I ordered the Fadda's Oxtails with peas and rice and cabbage. I also noted that besides beef they had spinach Pattie's and picked one of these up too. The first bite was of the spinach patty and it is by no means Just spinach, the spices were a pleasant surprise and I knew I was in for a treat. I next broke into the tender flavorful oxtails, yummy. If you've ever tried and failed to cook oxtails, put away your insta pot and pull up here. They are well spiced and with the rice and peas, you don't miss on any of the sauce cause they soak it up. The cabbage was cooked, but not over cooked with some carrots added for flavor, in addition to just the right amount of seasoning. By the time I got around to the plantain it was cold, my bad as I wasn't focused on anything beyond the main meal. The interior of the restaurant is clean, colorful, quaint, and post Covid smart with four tables and a long window bar that seats three. I choose to sit and eat without worry or concern as the place was spotless. I will be back! Thank you Naunie's! Tip: they also have Wi-Fi.

I drove a long way to visit this restaurant today, only to realize it wasn't actually my first time…read morehere. I remembered that one of my cousins had brought me here before for food, so I was expecting a decent experience. Unfortunately, today's visit was absolutely disappointing. I placed an order for oxtails, but they were out of mac & cheese, collard greens, and cabbage. The employee also mentioned they only had one dumpling left. What I don't understand is how a restaurant can be out of multiple sides that are supposed to come with the meal, yet still charge full price. The meal alone was $35. My son wanted additional items, so I still ordered food for him, but because the side options were so limited, I decided not to order anything for myself. In total, I ended up spending around $45, and the whole experience was just very disappointing. I really could've just bought the ingredients and made the meal myself, but I've been busy working in the house and handling a few projects, and before I realized it, the day had already gotten late. That's the main reason I decided to stop and buy food instead. Honestly, I guarantee I wouldn't have spent nearly as much making the meal myself as I ended up spending purchasing it there. To make matters worse, the employee serving us came across very nonchalant and unconcerned, which only added to the frustration. Overall, this is not a place I see myself visiting again anytime soon, if ever.

It's a HELLLLLLLL NO for me!!!!!…read more Went in for a veggie plate, all prices are different from what the menu says! Mac & Cheese is not considered a side item, so for the veggie plate you can only get Rice & Peas, collards, Cabbage or plantains basically...... They were unsure about what kinds of fish is being served. Prices are whatever they feel the price should be that day and not according to the menu-LOL! Restaurant was super clean and empty. Service was pleasantly absolutely unsure, and I can't say what the food tastes like because I exited as fast as I walked in. Restaurants.... Do better, we work hard for our money and e have options.

Came here for a love island party one night and I've been HOOKED ! It's my favorite new spot !…read more The drinks are soooo good. The bartenders are great , attentive and know all the food drink suggestions. I loved loved loved the love island themed menu The food is equally as good. I've had the salmon cake , the oxtails, the wings , the burgers and the shrimp and I can't wait to try more of the menu. The restaurant is open daily and you can order great Caribbean food for dine in or to go. They even are on apps like door dash but the vibe is so much better inside . They also have an outdoor patio if you don't want to sit inside Some nights they have special events and stay open late for a more party vibe. The staff is great. They make you feel special as a customer and encourage you to be a repeat guest. This is what I've been missing in the Gwinnett area and I'm so glad I found it . You have to check this place out !

I'm not Caribbean, so I can't speak to authenticity, but it felt authentic and was good. My wife was put off by the volume of the music and the inattentive service. It felt like a bar trying to be a restaurant, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. I can't complain about the food, though.

I married a 100% Dominican woman from the island that lived in Washington Heights after she left DR. This place has great food. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Some left a bad review because they said they ordered a quesadilla and fries that were OK. If you come to a Dominican restaurant and order a quesadilla and fries I'm sorry you are an idiot and know nothing about the culture or what to eat. So the ambiance. Is it a 5 star restaurant? No. Stop complaining about what they have to wipe your hands in the bathroom. If you are looking for a fine dining experience then go to Midtown. It's small, the music is LOUD at night and it gets crowded. If you don't like that vibe then go somewhere else. I've been to eat during the day when it's pretty empty and at night when it's packed. Service has always been good with longer waits if you go when there is a concert or an event at night. The food....very good. The only Dominican food I've had that is better has been food my wife cooked, my mother in law cooked or food in the Heights in New York. Definitely the most authentic Dominican spot here in Atlanta. The picadera is SO GOOD. Their beans taste just as good as what I get at home. My wife loves the Mondongo which is hard to make. Rabo is good so are the bistecs, the chuletas and the chicken I've eaten. I haven't tried the Mangu but my wife says it's good and she makes it AMAZING. I've said this before on reviews and will say it again. You have people expecting to get food like DR. Sorry people but we aren't in DR. We aren't in Washington Heights. I'd love to have it that good here but it's not going to happen. It's still doesn't make it bad. The food here is consistently good and I go often with my wife. Get the Picadera Dominicana. Best thing there.
