Updating with an added star. After my original review, the crown Dr. Winger placed came off. I went back in and he recemented it at no charge, which was the right call since it was his work. I appreciate that. I want other patients to know how that visit went, because the response above leaves it out. Before he treated my tooth, Dr. Winger said we needed to address the elephant in the room. He told me I'd made harsh comments about employees and that some of them were uncomfortable working with me because they were afraid of ending up in a review. I pointed out on the spot that my original review named two employees positively and only raised concerns about one -- it wasn't a broad complaint about the staff, and that distinction wasn't acknowledged. This conversation happened chairside, while I was sitting there needing care, with no warning. In my opinion, that's a conversation you have after treatment, not before. I would gladly have paid full price for the recement to skip it. In the moment, it felt like the conversation was the price of care. He also said, in substance, that his employees need to feel safe in the office. What he described was staff worried something they said might end up in a review. In my opinion that isn't feeling unsafe -- it's not wanting to be reviewed. If staff conduct themselves professionally, there's nothing to fear from a review. To be fair: Tammy did later send a written apology by email, and the payment plan was ultimately honored after she escalated it. I want to acknowledge that. But across multiple visits, the tone of that written apology has not matched how I've been spoken to in person, and that pattern is what was never addressed -- not in the email, not in the meeting, not in the response above. Dr. Winger asked that I bring concerns to him first rather than post publicly. Between my original review and this visit, there was no call, no email, no attempt to reach out. The first time it came up was chairside, before he treated me. Public reviews exist so other patients can decide for themselves. Dr. Winger's clinical work is genuinely good and I've said that from the start. My concerns are about the front office, and about a response that vouches for character without addressing conduct. read more

I'm a new patient to Dr. Winger's practice. it was recommended by another patient who said they are an outstanding team. I'm so happy I took her advice. I had my first treatment today, and had to explain to Colleen, the dental assistant, that I have claustrophobia. This can be hard to tell people, but she was so kind, and explained how the procedure would go. She said she would be there the whole time and if I had any difficult, she would make sure my needs were met. Just left this dentist. Turns out that Jaime was the Spirit of this office, and when she left, it's now just another dental office. The first time I walked in to Jaime's replacement, she never greeted me, and just stared at her computer. I had to say hello? Before she glanced my way. Also, I feel like they overbook hygienists . One left me in the chair at the end of a cleaning to get her new client set up. She then had someone else finish mine up. I waited 15 minutes for anyone to show back up! She seemed very anxious about getting to the new patient. It feels like they schedule patients back to back with no time for anything extra! I'm out to seek a non- rushed, attentive to patient's needs office! A hygienist should not feel so much pressure to get to a new patient that she deserts her current patient! Bye read more

Dr Winger is a good dentist. The front office people are Horrible. When Jaimie left everything down hill. Tammy is absolutely horrible. She is rude, cold, and has no business working with the public. I've been a patient for 10 years referred multiple people. Wouldn't refer now. They are Also now a "premier provider" meaning they charge way more than customary so your insurance won't even cover all the preventative services I called to get my x rays and spoke to Jaimie's replacement that could care less if you leave. To charge as much as they do you would at least get some decent front office staff. The last two times I visited I paid my bill right away then 2-3 months later I get bills saying I'm delinquent. Not are they more expensive but when you pay bills the send nasty notices saying your delinquent when it's their mistake.. I texted it and all Tammy has to say is we will check our records. Take my advice find a different office that actually cares. read more

I always knew that my husband and I received excellent dental care and outstanding customer service from Dr. Winger and his office staff, I just didn't realize how rare this is until I walked out of a network dentist's office today after getting a Novocaine shot. Here are some of the things Dr. Winger & staff do automatically before you sit down in the chair for your procedure. Dr. Winger's staff automatically sends a request for approval to your insurance for any procedure. Their staff actually look at the response they received to this request. You will know your out-of-pocket cost before you get any treatment and paperwork will be signed before the dentist starts the work. They do not ask you how old the broken crown is and if it is eligible for replacement while prepping you for the procedure. When you don't remember how long ago you had the crown done originally, they do not tell you to give them an "approximate month and year." And when I suggested they call my former dentist, I'm pretty sure they would not say, "You can call your dentist," after they already numbed half of your mouth. When you finally tell them you are frustrated because they did not prepare for your visit or bother to read your file, including the pre-approval from your insurance, but now they want you to sign a statement indicating that you will pay what it not covered by your insurance, I'm quite certain Dr. Winger's staff would never say, "I was just trying to have a conversation with you. " Dr. Winger is an excellent dentist and his staff is professional and they make you feel like a friend during every visit. They ask how your spouse is doing, how the new puppy is coming along, and they are happy to look at pictures of your grandkids. After I fired my dentist today, I came home and called Dr. Winger's office to let them know how much I miss them and how much I appreciate the excellent care we received during the 7 years we lived in Sacramento. read more

I have been coming to this practice since back when it was Dr Tse's practice. It was a great office then and is a great office now. Jamie is an absolute darling, I love her! I have never had a problem or issue in my 15+ years coming to this practice. They worked out payment plans when I needed them and stand behind their work. I have had everything from cleanings, fillings, crowns, night guards and even a wisdom tooth pulled. Everything is painless! My 20 year old daughter has anxiety at the dentist and they are very attentive to her nerves. I have never even thought of going anywhere else. I am from Central California, and when I am home, this is the dental office I go to. This office has an incredibly friendly team, and they take your concerns seriously. Recently, Dr. Justin Winger took over the practice. Sometimes this can make things worse, but in this case, It changed things for the better. Dr. Winger is young, good-looking, and is a TRUE perfectionist. He was extremely gentle giving me a shot, and after 3 fillings, I can't even tell which teeth have fillings and which teeth don't. They look all natural! It's the first time I've had dental work done and not felt like my bite was different or weird afterwards, too. He is really professional. The team also redecorated the place. It used to have old antique-looking things everywhere. Now it is decorated with Dr. Winger's beautiful artwork. It looks like a modern photo studio in there! I have been going here for close to 2 years now and I love it. Dr. Winger and his staff are very friendly and always a pleasure to see. My hygeniest is Stacy and she is super friendly and sweet. Compared to previous hygeniest at other places, Stacy never makes it awkward trying to ask questions in the middle of work. Dr. Winger is very professional and trustworthy. I have always been a little skeptical when it comes to dentist performing unneeded work just to get a little more money, but I have never felt this way with Dr. Winger. When he checks my teeth he is very gentle and seems to be a perfectionist. The office is clean and recently updated with some new contemporary touches. This is not a huge fancy modern dentist complex, it is a nice/clean family dentistry that really cares to treat you like you are family. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I do. read more
