We stumbled here trying to go to another winery, and we were so happy we did. We walked in and we were afraid they were going to turn us away because we didn't have a reservation, but they didn't. They were super sweet and accommodated us within a few minutes. We got seats outside which was really nice. Brian was helping us with our tasting and was awesome. He knew so much about the wine and loved how passionate he is about what he does. To our surprise, since we don't ever get a tasting like that, he stayed with us the whole tasting. That was really nice since as we were tasting we had more questions about the wine, about the winery, about the owners, and we also fell in love with the wine and winery. Overall, such a cute winery. If you are considering coming, you should go and to be on the safe side make reservations so you don't miss out in tasting their wine. To figure out where to go in Paso Robles, I was hitting a lot of websites, and Torrin kept coming up as a place to visit. We made a reservation (as tastings are by reservation ONLY - Key Hint) and made the trip up to Peachy Canyon Road. The location is well-laid out. We arrived in the tasting area - there were entrances on either side, and as usual, I picked the wrong entrance and missed Rick who was our guide for the afternoon - but he found us after walking around the outside of the building. Sorry Rick. The indoor seating area (and with the weather in the prior week hitting 3 digits, I was aiming for an indoor seating) was comprised of nice, comfortable couches with low tables. Our tasting was made up of 5 Torrin wines, all of which have interesting names. We started with their 2021 Lagom Santa Barbara County, which was 100% Pinot Noir, then moved to their 2021 Seneschal, which was 86% Grenache and 14% Graciano. After that, the tasting included their 2021 Torrin Tsundere, the 2021 Akasha, and finished with their 2021 Lagom Spanish Springs Chardonnay. The service was excellent, and included a tour of the wine making facility. This was a good vineyard to visit in Paso Robles, although we couldn't really find a bad vineyard in the 7 we visited while there. read more

Our favorite Paso winery is L'Aventure. So for our latest Paso excursion I called L'Aventure and asked for recommendations on what other wineries in Paso we might like. Torrin was one of the wineries that was suggested. So I made an appointment for a Thursday. They do make you pay for the tasting ahead of time which I don't really like and they charge $50 to taste which is on the high side but what can you do? Weather on this trip was perfect, (in the mid 70's), unlike our last trip where it was on the 100's. We pulled in and were immediately greeted by our host Valerie. I had put that we were celebrating my wife's birthday on my reservation so Valerie said, "Happy Birthday", which I appreciated, and our tasting setup had printed cards that had my name on them and also said, "Happy Birthday" A nice touch. The tasting room at Torrin is awesome. Very cool and modern looking. Valerie seated us and proceeded to tell us about Torrin, the winemakers and their philosophy and plans for the winery. Valerie was very friendly and personable and we had a great time with her. She spent almost the entire time with us which is what I really value in a wine tasting experience. That one-on-one connection you get with people that are passionate about wine and want to share that passion with you. We like pretty much everything that we tasted but were especially by the Maven, (95% Grenache 5% Syrah). So we bought a bottle of that. I will say that the wines at Torrin are not inexpensive. Our bottle of Maven was $93. But the wine is certainly delicious and the overall experience at Torrin was exquisite. read more

Our host Rick is absolutely outstanding and made the experience very special for my wife and I. His knowledge and great information and stories about the Paso wine background were the cherry on top besides the outstanding wines we tasted at this winery. So if you really like better than level wines you want to check this winery out. The tasting experience is on another level information wise and we were introduced to the owners and winemaker after our tasting as they were putting the harvest thru their grape separating machine. Very cool and we toured the fermentation room too. Place is a relatively new and beautiful and immaculately clean tasting room. Some very nice outdoor tasting spaces as well. This is definitely a boutique winery that produces around 3000 cases a year. They do not sell or distribute their wines outside the winery and only sell their bottles to wine members. I do think they will make some exceptions and seek a bottle or two after tasting but that's not their policy. Wine clubs is 12 bottles a year at $98 a bottle. In the steep side for Paso but as my wife told me their wine is on a different level from the dozen or so wineries we have visited in Paso so far. Most wines are of the roan variety and more reds and blends than whites. Tastings are by appointment only and $50 for a flight of 6. Also on the high side for Paso but would be cheap for Napa. I would say their wine is on par with many Napa wineries we have visited. Needless to say we joined the club which also comes with unlimited complimentary tastings up to 4 at once and require reservation. They do not do walk ins. The unique benefit of their membership is you can make an appointment for up to 4 friends and they can enjoy the free tastings without you being there. I thought that was a very cool and unique feature that sealed the deal for us becoming members. Well that and exiting a membership elsewhere. Can't have more than 3 at once. That's my rule. Please give this place a look if you really appreciate a good red blend. read more

The customer service was impeccable. Got greeted right when I got out of the car. Had a beautiful seat in the outside and was taken through a flight with our pourers...yes two that wer both extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They shared detailed story's of rhe owner and the family of the owner and also of course the wine. I brought two friends that never had done a wine taste before and they got spoiled. They asked if this is how all Tastes are and I said nope this place is special. Now to the wines. Let me keep it simple, too tier of the area and it's my new favorite wine membership I have. My favorite was the Maven and is was simply amazing. All the wines we tried were fantastic. It became a very high bar to try to meet for the rest of the trip and no one topped in. I was not familiar with Torrin wines prior to our visit but they may be my new favorite winery in Paso! The drive through Peachy Canyon is gorgeous and the tasting room and grounds are amazing. They have a great outdoor patio that we elected to have our tasting on, despite the high temps, because the ambiance was superb (and we had our dog with us). Our server, Melina, was amazing and super welcoming and knowledgeable! She was so kind to us and our pup and it really added to the experience. The wines were all fantastic and it seemed like each one was better than the last so kudos to their winemaker Scott Hawely!! Their Banshee, Akasha and Tsundere reds were all great but really, every single wine we tasted was superb. Despite going into our Paso weekend vowing not to join any more wine clubs, we ended up joining Torrin before we had even finished our last wine. It really is an excellent boutique winery with small production wines that are the best we've had in Paso. Paso has over one hundred wineries, and you would be lucky to experience a tasting at Torrin. My girlfriend and I had a reservation at 10:30am. Upon arrival, David, the general manger, greeted us outside. David spoke about the story of Torrin as he lead us to our reserved table. The inside of the building is modern and welcoming. We had a tasting of 6 wines and David personally explained the background of each wine, while answering all of our questions. David also added information about the wine history of Paso and the owner's impressive experience. I can't speak highly enough about the professionalism of the whole team and their passion for wine. In addition to the amazing service, Torrin has some of the best wine in the area. I will be coming here anytime I am in Paso, if Im lucky enough to get a reservation before they are all booked! When my wine connoisseur friend and I discovered that his favorite Paso Robles winery had opened reservation-only seated tastings of its Lagom wines to the public starting March 9, 2018, we beeline called for an appointment. Lauded for its Rhone-varietal wines, Torrin Vineyard co-founders Scott and Viquela Hawley's vineyard nestled in the Saint Lucia hills of Templeton Gap has produced a number of fine wines with Wine Spectator scores in the 90s. Scott, who trained at Fetzer, also serves as head winemaker for Law Estate Wines and is a popular consultant and mentor to many area wineries. He has worked in wine for two decades and brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the Paso Robles community. Torrin currently offers 4-flight tastings of its Lagom Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines on Fridays and Saturdays at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. Tastings are $20pp ($10 for Allocation Members) - waived if you purchase 6+ Lagom bottles. Rachel, our delightfully friendly hostess, immediately responded to our reservation request, offered us the choice of group or private tasting, added almonds to the snack offerings in addition to crackers and Easter jelly beans when she discovered we hadn't had lunch, and gave us several excellent recommendations for other Paso Robles wineries/eateries. We tasted: 2014 Lagom Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard: the hands down winner for the more sophisticated palates in the group! Bottled unfined and unfiltered, expect earthy, herbal, and fruit flavors that will age well over the next decade. 2014 Lagom Pinot Noir Duvarita Vineyard: spicy and earthy! 2014 Lagom Pinot Noir Clone 115: my favorite! Super drinkable, felt the most fruit-forward. 2015 Lagom Chardonnay Spanish Springs Vineyard: smooth, bold, with notes of fruit and mineral. What a lovely experience with some great wine! Torrin is a beautiful spot where you must have a reservation! In fact, you won't be able to get in at the gate without a code. And, if you're not a member, the tasting fee is fairly steep ($30/pp). Luckily, my good friend is a member (tasting fee waived for her and up to 4 guests) and we were able to get in at Torrin the weekend before all of CA shut down! Super friendly boutique winery on the west side of Paso. They emailed me even before the visit to ask about preferences and to give us other winery recommendations. Winemaker used to work for Law Estate and consults for numerous wineries in the area and we can totally see why! More and more small wineries are popping up in Paso and seeing a lot more Rhone blends in the area, which Torrin also is great for. Maybe our new favorite?! Let's start with the most important part - reservations are a must. It's a tiny operation and a tiny facility... there's no getting around the need to plan ahead. Know where you're going in advance, because cell service is not a given out there! On arrival, you'll find a tidy little barn that holds the entire operation. Odds are, your host will great you at the car - and the experience is bespoke from there on. The wines are stellar. Easily on par with the best in the area. The tasting experience really reminds me of tasing at Linne Calodo 15-20 years ago ... with just a bit more polish. It's not inexpensive, but if you're open to $70-90 per bottle and a $30 per person tasting fee, I think you'll agree that the product is absolutely worth it. Wow wow wow. So you have to make an appointment for a tasting. And they're $25 each. And you can't just drive-in, there's a locked gate that needs a code. And it's small. And all of those things make this place amazing. I have never spent so much money on wine and have never minded so little. Each bottle is around $80. Not the most expensive wine, but more than I normally spend. Each and every wine we tried was better than the last, literally some of the best stuff to pass my lips as grape juice. I am not a big chardonnay fan and theirs made me an instant believer. The 2015 Lagom Chardonnay. Amazing. The Torrin Tsundere 2013 was amazin, deep, complex, bright, full. Small boutique winery on the hills willow creeks that owns by the famous wine maker Scott Hawkeye. We came here by the recommendation of one of our friends and we where warmly welcome by Tory as our host whom did a great job poring our wine & explains the wines. Our groups tried all the tasting and they fall in love with the Pinot noir, bien Nacido. The wine tasting is by appointment only, the wine prices is a bit out of price range but maybe with the value. One word sums up Torrin Wines, Experience. Not only is tasting a pleasurable time but the venue was relaxing and very intimate. Reservations only, which is a stellar start to the tasting. When you call in at the gate a person greets you when you get to the front. From there you relax, sip and converse. A high point of the experience was having Macy conduct the wine tasting for us. Macy works the production to tastings, very engaging and knowledgeable about all facets of Torrin, wine, and Paso Robles.
