Kind of place you look forward to when you know you're going. Just got home from an awesome Sunday dinner. Roasted suckling pig with a zesty pepper sauce was delicious! Grilled octopus entree as an appetizer? Why not! Fantastic amount of perfectly cooked octopus! Skirt steak for my wife and steak and egg for one of my daughters, excellent quality! Salad, cheese, dessert, leftovers for a couple of days! Place cannot be beat! Incredible staff!

Super Bock on tap is always a plus especially when ice cold like it was served. A Paella and a Monkfish dishes were ordered. And took no less than an hour to come out. Since we ordered no appetizers, it was and felt like forever. The major disappointment was no tender checking on us. Had I been asked if I wanted another Super Bock at anytime in the last half hour of waiting, I would have been able to ask that they check on my food. Not that I should remind anyone how to do their jobs. Then the minor disappointment. For all that wait, all the customers rolling in, all the nice atmosphere, the food was just good but not great. The best outcome was lots of leftovers for entrees priced on the higher side for Portuguese food.

If you're in Newark and want an amazing meal, highly recommend this place just note it's not cheap but it's worth every penny.

We ordered a seafood paella - holy moly! It was like a 14" in diameter deep dish when it came out! Tasty, lots of mussels, shrimps, scallops, even a bit of lobster..... wow. I ordered chicken picatta - expecting thin strips of chicken in a nice sauce on top of pasta....damn. I got two flat, pressed chicken breasts on pasta. Can anyone say too big by half??? Wow. Couldn't finish it. And here's where the "food being thrown to us" came in- we got a side of green beans AND a side of seasoned rice AND a side of homemade potato chips (that needed salt but still). Damn. After declining dessert, they STILL brought us 6 little churros with a dark chocolate dipping sauce. WOW. Call me totally amazed. The pricing wasn't outrageous, and the food was absolutely BOUNTIFUL and yummy! The ambiance was amazing- old school in a classy way. And the service was absolutely ON POINT. Can't speak highly enough of this place! Nicely located in Ironbound and close to Newark Penn - will I come again? Yes. But I'll need room at the hotel for the leftovers! Yummy.

It came with two very large sides, and totaled around $25. 100% would recommend this dish, but I do think at a lower price point, this could make do with just one side, instead of two, as the main dish was quite large enough to fill me up. My favorite part of this meal was the garlic butter bread that they provide for free. It comes out extremely fresh with lots of chopped up garlic, which is my favorite part of garlic bread. It was a great way to start the dinner off. The service was great and the waiters were extremely attentive. They regularly checked up on how we felt about the food and filled up our drinks. The restaurant was pretty empty while we were dining, but the space was laid out very nicely and the decor was beautiful. Would come again if it wasn't so far!

I will not be returning. The Portuguese restaurants in the Ironbound are not like the old days and there much fewer of them since many Portuguese have moved away from the Ironbound.
