This is one out of two locations. The other location is the first and original one. Restaurant has great Thai decoration and the tables are also beautifully set. Creating a great atmosphere for any but also special occasions. The service is friendly, and our waitress was still new, but she did a great job. The menu is full with delicious sounding dishes. I picked the Tom Yum cup and the Thai fried rice with shrimp. Although the food was not bad, it didn't have the familiar Thai flavors I expected or had at other Thai restaurants. So I've tried their other location which was a FAR better experience than what I got at this spot. The server didn't ask anything about spice levels or really do much of anything other than take the order and dash away. So I got the most bland food I've EVER had at any Thai restaurant I've ever been to! I got the Phad Woon Sen and it had no flavor at all and was just totally blah. To make matters worse I came here with my mom for her very first experience eating Thai food and she probably will never try it again after her experience here. Sadly this ranks as the all time worst Thai food experience I've ever had. I'm just baffled how their other location can be so much better? Maybe they have different owners or something else going on but I'm certainly sticking to the other location from now on. read more

As bad as I hate to, I have to give a 3 star review for my overall experience. The restaurant is decorated nicely on the inside and feels clean. The music is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the service was lacking tonight. Jutamas has been a favorite for my family for years but tonight was the first night we have been in a year or more. We were not offered refills during our dinner and I ran out of water and beer. Service: 2/5 We were seated promptly when we walked in at 6:00. Orders were taken and food came out quickly. We weren't checked on for refills during our meal and the dining area was less than half full. I order a Sapporo and a Tsingtao was brought to the table. When asked why, the server said they were out of Sapporo. Thai Satay: 3/5 Was looking forward to this but unfortunately it was dry. I assumed they would use chicken thighs for this dish but instead used tenders. The flavor was fine but the end product was dry due to the tender being used. Egg Drop Soup: 3/5 A little thick and sweet for my taste but wasn't bad. I would go with the salad next time. Ribeye Steak: 4/5 I understand it seems strange to order a ribeye at a Thai restaurant but that's what you do when you are watching carb intake. The steak was actually very good! The Thai steak sauce was very good as well and I would eat both again. Unfortunately, the sides left a lot to be desired. The Jasmine Rice was just white Jasmine Rice with no seasoning. My 8 year old liked the rice so I let her have it. The mixed vegetables were also plain with no seasoning and even with salt added, I couldn't eat them. Hopefully tonight was just an off night! Food was good, but the portion sizes were a bit small. The fried wontons were nothing special so I really don't recommend them at all. There was little to no meat in them. The veggie spring rolls were excellent & the filling had a great flavor.We ordered our noodles and rice on a spice level 4 because we do like our food spicy! Both dishes were great with an adequate amount of protein. I do wish that the noodles had more sauce. I would definitely come back if we are ever in the Hattiesburg area. read more

I have now experienced two outstanding meals with excellent service at Jutamas. The pumpkin red curry was so delicious the first time that I ordered it the second time - and I think it was even better. I came in to submit an application for a server position because the food is so good, I will work for it! Lol but seriously. I had the pad Thai and green curry. My server gave me a bowl of egg drop soup to try and it's not your average egg drop soup! It has peas and carrots in it and kind of gives you that chicken noodle soup feel. Food was great! As we sat down a complimentary soup was brought to us, which was DELICIOUS. Our waiter described it as a homemade Thai broth, similar to a beef broth with a twist. We were also told that each day a different soup is served, which we thought was so neat. Our favorite was the appetizer we ordered, the toong tung pastries. My husband ordered the Phad Thai - honestly the best Phad Thai I've had I ordered the Gang-Dang Ta-Lay curry. It was very good, just wish it was served with a little more white rice. I was very hesitant to try this place after reading some of the bad reviews, but alas we gave it a shot and I'm glad we did. What I've learned about reviews is that you never really truly know until you try it yourself. That's what we did and it did not disappoint. The service was great, the wait staff were incredibly attentive and the food was awesome and very nicely presented. I had the combination pad Thai. It came with some starter soup that was amazing. And the pad Thai itself was awesome. It wasn't too sweet and it had just the right amount of spice for my tastes. They wrote their restaurant name on the side of the plate in sriracha so if you wanted to add more spice, you had the option. There were peanuts on the side of the dish as well to add to the meal and red pepper flakes. I didn't need to add any sriracha, red peppers or peanuts. I thought it was perfectly flavored. We had the fresh roll as an appetizer and the peanut sauce was amazing. My lunch companion had the pumpkin curry and I tried a bit of it and it was delicious as well. All in all, I'd rate this place a five. Kudos for having an awesome Thai place in the middle of a small town. I'll be returning for sure. My fiance was craving Thai, so we decided to come here having had a positive experience in the past. I'm not sure if we just happened to go on an "off" day, but my food & service made me not want to return, at least to this location. I ordered shrimp Phad Thai (I think? honestly wasn't great enough to remember now) and my fiance had some fried rice. We both ordered a Thai iced tea and honestly, I think that was the best part of my meal. I thought my dish was fine until I got to the shrimp. There was probably 5 of them (is that normal?). BUT. I ate one of them and instantly was met with a foul taste, almost like the shrimp was spoiled. Maybe old? Hard to explain the taste but it kind of smelled like a wet dish rag that had been left out too long. The noodles and the rest of the dish were fine, but the taste of the shrimp alone was enough to turn my stomach and lose my appetite. I didn't say anything because the service was poor from the start, and it wasn't even busy. The server we had didn't come round to refill water, tea, or ask how our meal tasted or if everything were ok. The only other time we saw them was to get the check & pay. Really I just wanted to leave when my fiance finished his meal. I was highly disappointed with this most recent experience and really expected more from Jutama's. read more

Ordered Phad Thai Supreme and Spring Rolls. Food Quality 0 stars - This was the worst Phad Thai I have ever had. It was almost tasteless. The noodles were poorly cooked and it was in one big lump of stuck together noodles. You could put the fork in it and pick up the entire entrée. The spring rolls were anything but springy, They looked like egg rolls that had been sitting for hours. Service - 1 star. Ordered to go but did not get any utensils to eat with so had to eat with my hands. Summary - I would never order from this place again. It was disgusting and barely editable. Mediocre! There's not many choices of Thai food in Hattiesburg so we gave this one a try. Walking in, the ambiance was nicely done with the use of Thai style gold and red decor. Surprisingly, it wasn't very busy on a friday night so there was no wait. We ordered the Gai Yang, Pad Thai, and Panang Curry. The portions were very large so sharing would be a good idea. The Gai Yang had three large tender pieces of chicken served with rice and sweet chili sauce. The Pad Thai had something textural confusing in the plate. There were pieces in it that was a bit hard to chew and one bite was full of ginger. I asked for a spicy chili powder, which they only had chili flakes so that's a bit disappointing. Most Thai places have a "spice rack" that consist of spicy peppers and chilis. The Panang Curry was probably the best thing we had. It had the perfect amount of spice and the coconut milk balanced perfectly with the curry. This may be knit picky, but the menu had some grammatical errors. "Phad Thai" or is it suppose to be "Pad Thai"? Also, the individual chairs are very uncomfortable. The cushion sinks completely through the chair giving no support. With the prices being on the higher end, I would expect better execution. Overall, the food deserved more stars but experience was not up to par. Our initial server refilled our drinks once after taking our order and half way through someone else served us. It wasn't super busy so having an attentive server didn't seem impossible. read more
