I've been coming here for years. I've gotten other services - massage, blowouts, and pedicures but the primary thing I come for is cut/color. I love this place! The service is always great, they really take the whole daymaker thing very seriously. Abby does such a good job with my color - I've recommended her to other people who have also had great results with all different colors/hair types. I've had lots of different people cut my hair over the years. I have a little bit of challenging hair texture so any time I've had to switch stylists (never by my choice!), I always talk about it with the scheduler and they make great recommendations. They clearly know who specializes in different types of hair - they are always spot on. It's also a bonus that they sell great Aveda products. They never pressure you into buying anything but are really helpful when you want something. I also like the coupons they send out if you are an Aveda Pure Privilege member. They are good here (review for mani-pedis and massages). Also, there is plenty of parking to be found, and good affordable fast places to grab a lunch with a friend nearby. If you book a pedicure with a friend, you end up in the same room, which is much better than that one time I went somewhere and my friend was whisked away somewhere else and I just talked to the pedicurist the whole time. I finally caved and got my hair done and am SO glad that I chose Juut St. Paul! I hadn't had a haircut since pre-COVID and at 10 weeks post-partum, I was really needing a refresh but was worried about going to a salon. Juut has an excellent system in place and my stylist thought they might be the only salon group in the cities that has mandatory temp checks for all customers. On arrival, they have you sanitize your hands, sign a form verifying that you don't have symptoms, and do a contactless temp check. Everyone is masked. My stylist was friendly and efficient and there was only one other person getting their hair done at a distance away while I was having mine done. She did blow-dry my hair on a low setting to style it. They have you sanitize on the way out as well before paying. I also was here for a pedicure just before giving birth and was similarly impressed by their protocols! Both of my visits were on weekday mornings so it was fairly quiet probably for that reason as well. They have a salon app that you can use to check-in and pay so you can be even quicker with less contact. I'm so glad that they are taking COVID seriously and will continue to patronize them. read more

My first visit to any of the Juut salons, Rebecca made my day. I like the "DAYMAKER" slogan these folks have adopted. She gave a great pedicure, my pedi mate was happy with Erin's pedicure services as well. I'd give this place four stars, if it weren't for both of the front desk staff members who need some reminders about the company's Daymaker concept. They were efficient, but not much else. Expect to pay about twice what you would if you were to go one of the many nail shops in town for a pedicure. The upsides are the Aveda product they use and semi-private area upstairs with it's soothing music. Call ahead for an appointment at this busy Grand Avenue location. read more

I love Liza at Juut for eyebrow waxing. She never fails to do an amazing job and I can't find anyone to replace her since I've moved. I need to make a special trip just get my eyebrows waxed. The salon makes me feel comfortable while I wait for my appointment and they also sell Aveda products so that's convenient if I am low on something. The salon itself is absolutely adorable, and you can sip on water or tea while you wait in the swanky lounge. My amazing stylist recommended a hair style for me (an asymmetrical lob) when I told her I was looking for something not so "Plain Jane" which I would have never thought of on my own. She is a pleasure to be around, always works magic on my hair, and has great ideas for adding a little something fun (ombre, subtle streaks of color, etc.). I've been coming here for highlights with Francesca, who does a great job. Most recently, I got a haircut with Kathryn, and I took off several inches since I'm trying to go much lighter with my highlights and my hair is already very damaged from previous color (both from being done at another salon and at home). I HATE haircuts and I hate short hair, but I've gotten so many compliments and I've been able to get a lot of cute styles out of my cut, so I am in love with the look she gave me. And Francesca? Her highlights are TOO good. She gets them right on the scalp. She gets the color I want and the size of the highlight right. I only wish they grew out faster because I do look forward to my appointments and how much more I love my hair every time I leave. read more

I've been seeing Natalie H. at Juut now for 2 years, and I've been thrilled everytime I see her! First impressions say a lot about a person. Here's my first impression of Natalie from the day I met her: Contemporary - She has an edgy, but femine haircut. It shows she's willing to take risks, but always makes sure to make a woman feel sexy and feminine, no matter what hairstyle she has. Very genuinely friendly - Talking to Natalie during my haircut is so easy! We have the same conversations that I have with my other friends. I never feel awkward with her. Honest - Natalie's a very active listener. She always asks questions and wants to hear your opinion about your current hairstyle before starting the haircut. She always offers solutions from all ends of the spectrum. She'll tell me a safe, more traditional solution, but she also offers me risker options! As I said, first impressions say a lot about a person, and after getting to know Natalie, my first impression hasn't changed! She's great :) The salon is very clean and inviting. I love that the walls have exposed brick and high beamed ceilings. It feels very open and is always bright. There are windows along an entire side. It helps me see the color of my hair better with all that natural light coming through. I also think the location is awesome. Right on Grand and Victoria in St. Paul. I can't understand why a local business would hire front desk staff to be so rude! Also, when paying close to $100.00 for a haircut one would think that they would be able to cut your hair straight! I've gone to this location on different occasions over time, for both color and cut. Different stylists. Everyone is pleasant, and front desk staff is nice. However technical skill is mediocre, and overall quality is poor considering the price you pay. There are much better places in the Twin Cities for comparable price or even less (HAUS, Root, Moxie, etc). Would really recommend going elsewhere. read more

Got a haircut from Kathryn and she was great! I have very fine, straight hair that doesn't have a lot of volume---Kathryn has similar hair and knew exactly how to cut and style it. She also asked what my usual styling routine was and didn't try to push me to do more than I was comfortable with. She demonstrated the products that she used on me but also gave me suggestions of how to use similar products I already had at home. She also showed me a few techniques I did not know how to do, like back-comb my hair and style it with a flatiron. I left the salon not only feeling great about my hair but also more confident that I could replicate it! Juut has such a relaxing vibe and nice little extras---staff who hang up your coat, offer you that AMAZING tea, and even a heated toilet seat on a cold night :) It's a great overall experience. Juut is definitely more pricey than other places but it is absolutely worth it. read more

I've been here twice for Brazilian waxes, and Christine is fabulous!!! I am a plus-size girl and definitely have body issues, but Christine makes me feel completely comfortable and relaxed, I have never felt self-conscious and it just feels like I'm having a fun conversation with a great friend. She also does a wonderful and thorough job. Sadly, I have very sensitive skin and had a reaction to something in the wax used at Juut, which surprised me because they use all natural products. Best eyebrow waxing in town no matter who the stylist is!

I have been meaning to write this for awhile, and finally got around to it. Two Christmases ago I went in to the Grand Ave location to purchase a $100 gift card for my boss. The gal at the front desk who "helped" me (I use that term loosely) rang up my purchase, gave me the card, the usual. But, she NEVER ONCE looked at me. NOT ONCE. I was floored, and not in a good way. She treated me as though I did not belong in "her" salon. It was a busy evening, but a simple smile, look the customer (me) in the eye, and a sincere "thank you"-- That is all I wanted. I was thisclose to asking for my money back. I really wish I had. I will NEVER return to this salon location again, despite it's close proximity to my house. No customer service whatsoever. Daymakers? Please. I've been to the Roseville salon 3 times and have had great experiences there, from every single person I encounter (including the sales people at the front cashwrap area, whether I'm dressed nicely with make up and hair done, or whether I'm on my way to the gym with casual clothes and no make up on). Get your sh*t together, Grand Ave location. I have heard other people say they have had similar experiences, too, after I've told them about my crappy experience. read more

I have gotten several excellent massages at this location and I would recommend any of their massage therapists. I always leave feeling more refreshed and relaxed than when I walked in and I don't feel pressure to schedule again or to buy their products. I really enjoy the atmosphere of this Juut, though the parking situation leaves a lot to be desired. Grand Ave is a very busy area and sometimes I have to park a few blocks away, which isn't always relaxing in the MN winters after a massage. I haven't gotten my hair or any other services at this location, though I know people who have and swear by them. I would definitely recommend making an appointment here for some winter pampering. read more

I started going to Juut St Paul for back waxing and the experience was amazing. First, you are offered tea, coffee or water & brought to a very comfortable waiting area. The staff are very professional. The waxing Was amazing, it was over in 20 minutes & was nearly painless. Then I tried the training salon in Uptown and discovered Claudia, following her back to St Paul when she graduated from Uptown. Claudia does a fine job on both chest & back waxing. If you're Asian and fear getting your hair done in the Midwest, never fear - come to Juut and ask for Emmy! (Actually, call about a week ahead of time since she books out.) I've come to her a couple times to have 8-10 inches of my hair chopped off into a bob and into a pixie cut, and just for a trim, and she's done an amazing job every time. I end up with the shape I want, the length I want (none of this "I'd like an inch taken off" resulting in 2-3 inches lopped off business), and manageable texture/bulk. She is one of the master stylists so cuts run about $80 but it's worth it to get it done quickly and done right every time. read more

This isn't necessarily reflective of my experiences at the salon overall. I thought the people at the front were mostly friendly, so I can't knock that. My review is specifically about Kia Yang, the "stylist" I saw. This girl seems to have no idea how to cut hair. I made things about as clear as I could, but she didn't seem to listen. I would have even been semi-satisfied if she actually got a decent cut, if not the one I wanted. But she couldn't even do that. I looked like I had a bowl on my head. No real understanding of form and balance. I could cut my own hair better. I think the problem is that she seems racist towards White people. I found her online, and she's always posting about how she's looking for people of color, and suggesting that White people are oppressing her. I'd stay away, unless you're a different color. Then she might give you a good haircut. I doubt it though. read more

I have been seeing Amber since I moved back to Minneapolis in 2012 when she was just starting out at the Uptown location fresh out of school. When you find someone that you trust whole-heatedly with your head of hair, you don't let that person get away. In fact, you follow them wherever they may go. Every 10-12 weeks I have the pleasure of crossing the river to see my gal. Not only does she have mad sheer skills, she is one of the most genuine and funny people you will have the pleasure of conversing with for that 1 hour appointment.She will do her best to truly understand your needs, and will even offer you her expert opinion if you ask (make sure you do!) I went to see Kia last week for a haircut and she was awesome! She listened to the type of cut I wanted and was really friendly. She started with a lovely shoulder and scalp massage which was just what I needed after a long day of work. She was helpful in answering what to do about my curls not holding all day and gave me some great tips to try. Altogether her carefulness and attention to my hair resulted in a lovely haircut! The ladies at the front desk were also really warm and helpful in finding the right products for me after my haircut. I went in for an all-over color and cut. After i got colored i sat with dripping wet un-brushed hair for 40 min. I had 2 chunks of blond in my hair left from where i had highlights, right in the front of my hair, which my stylist failed to notice. I went in to have it fixed-just the blond chunk-and ended up with black bangs, and light brown hair. Then she tried to send me home, telling me that it looked great. When i said it wasn't ok we toned my hair twice, and my hair was still not one color. I had to have my entire hair re-colored. Three hours later I walked out of the clinic, color still in my hair, so my "stylist" could get home on time. Throughout this whole experience, the stylists were not only incapable of their jobs, but also rude and demeaning. JUUT is an overall waste of time, money and health of your hair. Worst customer service and color I have ever received! read more

I first went to Juut three weeks ago. I had blonde hair with terrible roots, which I thoroughly explained over the phone. I had to wait 45 minutes for my appointment and once I was finally in the chair, the hairstylist told me she didn't have time to do my hair. They then suggested I wait around for another hour for my haircut appointment. Umm, no thanks. I left having wasted over an hour of my time. I rescheduled for the following week, because I still had high hopes. I had an appointment with Francesca, who I will never be going to again. I left with bright spots of blonde randomly throughout my hair and still some dark roots around the back of my neck (that was the one thing I wanted taken care of). They gave me some conditioner that was supposed to fix the spots, but I still had to make another appt the following week to fix it. I went to Juut today for another appt with Francesca. I clearly showed her where the spots were and roots that needed to be fixed. I also mentioned that the ends of my hair turned a weird color with almost a gray tint that I wanted touched up as well. She ended up doing a foil only on one side of my head and on the top. The result was a random streak of blonde on the right side of my head and one coming out of the top-center of my head. Not only are they large streaks, but they don't even start at the roots. There is a solid quarter of an inch between my scalp and where the highlight begins. I could have done a better job with a box dye. So upset with this salon and hairstylist. Final cost of the hairdo was $210 for a terrible dye job. read more

I used to absolutely love this place. But ever since my favorite stylist from here left, my devotion has been waning. I was willing to pay big bucks for Joey B.'s amazing haircuts, because they were honestly the best EVER. But now I see a "master" stylist here and the results just aren't as good. I've seen her 3 times now, which I think is the very definition of a fair shake. Each time I leave looking a little like the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo... just because I have short hair doesn't mean I want it like 1/2 inch long all over my head. And then it grows out funny. Anyway it turns out, you can get haircuts for a LOT less money other places. So today I am going to branch out and not go to Juut... sorry Juut, I kinda feel like I'm cheating on you. And it's not that you're not lovely - you are. I love your Aveda products and your delicious tea and the fact that you're right in my neighborhood. It's just...I think I need to do my own thing for awhile...maybe see if someone else can figure out this mess on top of my head. read more
