She listened to all my wants for my hair and truly cares about my hair health! I went in for a partial Balayage and I am So shocked at how soft and amazing my hair still feels, she also educates me on my hair and my hair type and how the color will look, she tries to personalizes it to the my hair the best way possible while being very transparent on what she thinks is best versus just adding a generic color onto my hair and calling it a day. Before coming to JVS Hair Studio's I had two bad experiences at other locations. I am so grateful that I was able to have such an amazing experience here. Angie was very patient with me, she explained all the options available and went into detail of what each treatment entailed. She has the most amazing hands when washing my hair and throughout the entire process. I have curly hair and she did not pull my hair at all when brushing it. She took her time and never left me unattended. She has a great personality and did such a good job dying my hair. The staff there are very friendly and professional. This is a really nice salon. I just happened to drive by and see it by accident, and I desperately needed a haircut. I called, they had room for an appointment same day, I was so happy. I got a great cut, and then when I was home, I couldn't make it look as great as Vicky did in house, so I went back to get a bit more cut off and some tips on styling. It was great! The salon is nice, clean, decorated for the holidays, and they sell Redkin products. But...the best part if the super great head massage and shampoo treatment before the cut! Shannon my stylist was amazing as always friendly and attentive. She knows I have a baby and was accommodating by separating my appointment into two sessions. My husband was the one who wanted fire hair and she delivered it. I'm in love with it and so is my baby who loves to play with mommy's different hair colors. For those who don't know this is a long process and Shannon for sure made the time fly by with her conversation and personality. I have to give a long overdue shoutout to Clarissa at JVS. Clarissa has been doing my hair a couple times a year for the last nearly SEVEN years now and I don't think I could ever trust anyone else with it! She first fixed a bad balayage and cut job I'd come in with and I never looked back. Whether taking me from my natural dark brown to ash blonde, chocolatey brown, or even pink-- she is an AMAZING colorist, will walk you through the process, let you know what to expect and what your hair can realistically handle (eg when I was going pink, she let me know that it would fade quickly, and did a test strip of bleach on my hair to make sure my hair could handle going that light), then complete the process with the utmost care and artistry. I've gone long/short/lob/curtain bangs/bangs with her and she nails it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. One trademark of her cut and color work is that it grows out beautifully. Literally I've sometimes gone up to 10 months in between visits because my cut and color still looks great. She really understands how to melt color into the hair so that it grows and fades nicely, as well has how to cut hair in a way so it grows out well with little to no maintenance. Another experience I consistently have with her is that my hair always comes out looking "just like the picture," which is what anyone wants, right? Today I got a textured French bob with piecey bangs and brought a handful of reference pictures to my appt. Though I honestly wasn't sure if I could pull it off (and trusted Clarissa to tell me if it wouldn't work for me), she gave me the haircut of my dreams (and it's low maintenance to boot)! On top of all this, she's just a lovely, warm, kind person. It's such a treat to see her and I always leave feeling like a million bucks. Pricing is very fair for the quality of work, and I believe listed on their site per stylist as well. My cut and toning today (very light blonde to a natural warm brown) came out to 105 before tip, and when I had longer hair and more involved color jobs, I could usually expect that to come out to around $200-250 before tip. The salon also sells all the products their stylists use, which is super convenient, and offers a 20% discount off all items if you had a hair service that day. It's always clean, the employees are warm and professional, and it's super easy to make an appointment and reach them at any time. I've referred a few friends to JVS (Clarissa specifically) over the years and will continue doing so :) she's simply the best! read more

I used to be her little assistant when I was 7 or 8 and as a reward she was style my hair, but now she does my hair professionally and is absolutely killing it. SACHI WAS AMAZING. The pictures speak for itself. Sachi made it a priority to listen to what I wanted and what I didn't want. She gave me multiple options and guided me through each one to make sure I was comfortable through out the process. I realized that all of the hair stylists used the same method of explaining the process to their clients and making sure they felt comfortable before beginning. If Sachi isn't available I am sure that all the stylists are amazing. I usually am terrified of cutting my hair since I've had some pretty bad hair cuts in the past (I walked in with a bad hair cut). I had explained to her that I'd prefer not to cut my hair and I felt worried. She listened and made sure I knew that she wouldn't cut my hair if I didn't want her too. I felt so comfortable w/ her, that I was EXCITED for her to fix my hair cut. & I am glad I did. I LOVE my hair cut so much that I am excited to see her in two months for a trim. I've walked out of so many salons a bit disappointed because what I asked for wasn't what I got. I always thought that maybe I didn't communicate well enough but after meeting Sachi I realized that was not the case. Sachi made sure that I understood what she meant and guided me through the whole process. Everyone should receive that kind of service at every salon. I do have to admit, the salon is on the pricier side. I usually spend a lot of money at salons but this salon is pricier. The salon has different level hair stylists. So you pay for experience. Found an very decent hair salon in Santa Fe Springs/La Mirada which is near my home!!! I've been meaning to get my hair done for a while, I was too busy yelping for foodies. I originally came here on a Wednesday, found out there were no one available for walk-in... ended up with an appointment (next morning). Next morning, came in for the haircut which was being done by Destiny. I was amazed with her cutting. It was amazing. She did an amazing job cutting my hair and made it nice and clean. Definitely worth the wait!! Finally, an hair salon (near home) that I actually love. Love my new and approved hair style. I would come back for another haircut in couple months or so. I used to really enjoy coming to this location. Unfortunately after 6 years my stylist left and no knew knew where she went. I decided to try another named lily and I booked her on a day where I had a wedding, thinking my hair would get styled and I could kill 2 birds one stone. She cancelled an hour before. I was irritated, but I decided to book another appt with a different stylist thinking I just had bad luck with her. Here we are ( not learning my lesson) on a Saturday morning and the stylist cancels my appt 20 minutes before my appt as I'm already ready to park. She mentioned she had the flu, which I completely understand, but letting me know 20 minutes before my appt? I don't suggest booking an appt here if you actually want to keep one. read more

I booked an appointment here over a week out. That means I cleared up my whole day and got babysitting and the whole works. Right before my appointment I was canceled on by the salon. It happens, I get that. But what should have been done is they should have squeezed me in with another stylist at my same appointment time. All I was offered was to schedule an alternate appointment in the unknown future. That is a big no from me as they already proved that they are unprofessional. Ive been to many barber shops and hands down Steven has been the best when it comes to cutting my hair. I've been searching for a new salon since my guy at Sassoon moved to another state, and since he's been doing my hair for over a year I was really leery of finding someone else. I searched and searched for places around where I live and stumbled upon JVS. The yelp reviews mentioned Clarissa a lot, so I decided to try her out. She's great! She takes the time to explain what she's doing and what products she uses while also asking you how you want your hair and what you normally use to style it. If she thinks what you want won't look the way you think it will, she'll let you know. But she does it with grace and politeness. Normally $36 for cut and blow, but it was $26 for being a new client. I came to JVS today without an Appt because my hair had just been ruined at Fantastic Sams. I was desperate for help and hated the way I looked in the mirror! Clarissa took me in right away and was confident she could help. She helped me calm down and within minutes I could see improvements. I've now been getting my hair done Clarissa for about year and a half and I honestly cannot be any happier. I've had a couple times where Evelyn has done my hair (balayage highlights and color) as well and I was just as satisfied. I always go to either of these two ladies but from being in that salon at least once a month I can see that everyone that works there really takes the time to get to know their clients wants/needs. I've never seen anyone dislike the end result. I love my hair and honestly am not too adventurous with it specially with length but with Clarissa knowing that she always recommends different shades/ways do change it up. When they recommended the balayage highlights I was thrilled with how they came out. Months later we are now playing with making them lighter.
