Lots of equipment and lots of natural light. Things that need work: * Customer service (Could not check in at 4:30 p.m. on a Wednesday; my basic room not ready and no other room options. As a result, I had to check my luggage while I went to go set up convention center exhibit booth. When I came back later to check in at 7 p.m., it took more than 2 hours and 2 manager calls for me to get my checked bags delivered to my room. Also very difficult to get someone at the front desk to answer the phone during regular business hours.) * Hotel restaurant hours/food very limited right now (the Italian place is closed at night, open for breakfast only), and no room service. * The executive lounge is closed. I was told as Platinum Bonvoy I would get a discount on my breakfast in the restaurant instead but there were no discounts. Not sure what was supposed to happen (I've called the hotel to ask). The customer service issue is an especially big deal for business travelers. The problems checking in and getting my bags made my work a lot more complicated than necessary and gave me headaches. My work computer was in one of the bags that took more than 2 hours to deliver, and I had to host a work Zoom on my mobile phone instead of my laptop because of the problems -- not the best professional image. It's the first time I've stayed at JW Marriott and had such negative experiences with customer service. The JW is such a nice hotel. From the parking garage to the lobbies, every inch is really clean, sophisticated, and welcoming. It's perfectly located by Lucas oil for football and victory field for baseball among other event facilities. The JW is also a great venue for events as I've attended a couple work events here as well. Service is great! There is a Fedex shop for your mailing needs and a Starbucks on the 2nd floor. On the first floor they have a very nice sports bar called high velocity where you can enjoy watching a sport on their multiple TVs or drink/snack before an event. I love a good Marriott & the JW Marriott Indianapolis was wonderful. I came for a medical conference being held in the hotel. They provided me 2 nights in a regular 2 queen bed guest room. Here is the good: - room was clean, comfortable, & had a great view - each room has a mini fridge with a small (but mighty) freezer section. I had meds that require a fridge & ice packs & it was perfect for that. -the bed was perfect & they have options of down feather pillow or foam pillows -the Bonvoy app has a chat feature & the hotel responded efficiently & were super helpful. - nice touches like biscoff cookies, bottled water, tea/coffee, body wash/shampoo/conditioner in the shower, USB ports as well as outlets. - room service menu is the same as the on-site restaurants, except also a breakfast menu. I ate at OP, visited the lobby bar, & got room service at night & one morning- all food & drinks were delicious. $5 for a literal can of Dr Pepper hurt my soul, but it's not unexpected. -after check in, my friend went to their little market & was going to buy bottled water (we hadn't been to the room). The front desk told her the room had water bottles & the front desk would give her as many as she wanted for free. They could have just taken her money & not told her, so it was nice. -conference facilities were great. The hotel is huge so could be a bit of a maze, but lots of good signage. - on-site Starbucks was nice -catered food for the conference was better than I expected given most of the patients at the conference needed low sodium, plus other dietary limitations. The food was surprisingly flavorful! -everything was clean, no matter where in the hotel I went, everything was clean. -they have 12 main elevators (& additional ones around the hotel) from the lobby to the room floors. They are fast, quiet, & nice. You do need a room key to access room floors, which can be annoying but it also nice. -literally every staff member I met- front desk, valet, bellman, servers, catering, managers, room service, housekeeping, floating staff- every single one was extremely nice. Never once did I get a sense that any one was annoyed or bothered. No one looked like they were having a bad day (& statistically some likely were). They seem to have high standards for their staff & they meet those standards. Negatives: - Parking isn't included in the room price & for self-park in the garage (as of august 2024) it was $55/day. Now, this is a JW, downtown, in the largest city in the state. It's expected & all hotels do it, which is why it doesn't reduce the rating. I understand it, I just don't like it. -There were some elevator issues. 3 that I know of. Once one of the elevators wouldn't scan any keycard (including the managers) so it was unusable to rooms. But, there were 5 others in that bank that worked, so not a huge deal. One woman had the elevator get stuck while she was in it, but a maintainence person was in there with her so she got out right away. And my last night the fire department came because another one got stuck, I assume with people in it. I don't know if that was all the same elevator or different ones. That being said, there were plenty of other elevators & the hotel did everything to fix them right away. The whole conference I never saw more than 6 people waiting for an elevator at a time & I personally never waited more than 2min for an elevator to arrive once I've pressed the button. I slept so well & really enjoyed this hotel. Will I be back? Probably not. But that has nothing to do with the hotel & everything to do with the fact that I simply cannot afford it. I only stayed here due to conference scholarship covering the cost (minus parking & room service, I paid that). If I had the opportunity of a free stay or I somehow had a lot of money, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

The JW Marriott Indianapolis is a gorgeous, 33 story modern structure adjacent to the Convention centre hosting a clean, prestigious, and posh atmosphere. Opened in 2011, it is the tallest building in Indiana and has skyways linking the hotel to the Convention Centre, the Circle Centre Mall and even Lucas Oil Stadium. Its floor to ceiling windows allow you fantastic views of either downtown Indianapolis, the White River or lush green parks near by. As a Marriott Gold Elite members, we were upgraded to a corner mini-suite with breathtaking views of the city. Our room was spacious, comfortable and simplistic but in a elegant way. The bedding was comfy...loved the fluffy thick comforters, and the huge windows made it perfect for watching the sunset. Check-in was quick, easy and stress free. The staff did an awesome job ensuring guests were attended to all while continuing to observe close contact was minimized. A shout-out to both Austin and Jennifer (front desk staff members) who were top notch. They were friendly, extremely helpful and even answered some of our dumb questions...like where was the Starbucks in the hotel when the sign was just to the left of us. Lol. The food was outstanding. We had lunch and supper at one of the two in-house restaurants, High Velocity, which followed the strict COVID guidelines. We did not have a chance to try the second restaurant, OP Italian, as it was still closed but if it anything like High Velocity, we would not be disappointed. Overall, this is an absolutely gorgeous and beautiful luxury hotel in downtown Indy and would definitely visit again for sure! The views are amazing, we had a view to the Lucas Oil Stadium and Victory Field. The gentlemen in valet were super helpful and gave excellent recommendations for places to visit and eat. The hotel is located in a perfect spot. The zoo is walking distance and the mall is also a few blocks away. I truly enjoyed my stay, they made our visit special. The hotel has a Starbucks inside closes early so keep eye on the hours of operation. They offer an indoor pool with jacuzzi and a very nice gym. They also a full bar and restaurant with great drinks. Quite enjoyed my stay at the JW Marriott. It's a very large hotel but staff and layout make it feel warm and cozy. I had a city-facing room on the 26th floor and absolutely loved the view. We checked in a little after 3 and opted for the valet parking which was $50 (self parking was $45). The lobby and inside is beautiful and spacious! The hotel has a couple of different restaurants, none of which were open due to the pandemic. The room was very updated and modern and our view overlooked the park. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It's unfortunately not near a whole lot in the downtown area so you need to either walk or Uber. If you're looking for an upscale hotel downtown, I would recommend staying at the JW! read more

We stayed for 3 nights just prior to Christmas 2022. I was longing to stay here for years and due to bad winter weather we stayed because we needed to be in Indy and did not want to travel icy roads. This hotel is great but the staff are wonderful! We so enjoyed how much nicer our stay was due to excellent professional people. The room was clean, large, heat was perfect with below zero temperature outside. Super bathroom and shower. Large television. This place actually cleaned rooms daily. Took advantage of the food in the hotel and it was very good. Due to weather and a short staff we had to take it to go. We enjoyed our food by a fireplace in the lobby area. This is a terrific hotel! I have to say, our normal hotel style is upscale boutique hotels because what we consider the big chain hotels typically can't deliver the level of service you get with the boutique hotels, but the JW Marriott Indianapolis delivered exceptional service during our 4 night stay. And consistently, too. The pleasant experience started before we even arrived, with a nice welcome email message from Michael, the concierge. And I mean a real human being message. Even if it was created from a template, the important part was that when I responded to it, I got a fast, informative, helpful response. That set the tone, and the hotel delivered in many service aspects, so it's not like it all fell apart after the welcome email, as it can in some cases. Not here. Michael helped facilitate an early check-in, and the timing turned out perfectly for us. We had a nice top floor room with a great view. But I'll write more about the room in a bit, because there was more from Michael. We got back from dinner the first night to find turndown service had been delivered and there was even a nice welcome fruit basket in the room, with a handwritten note attached. What a nice touch! So the room was great. Very comfortable bed and even comfortable pillows (what good is a comfy bed if the pillows are no good?). A chair and ottoman for watching the nice big TV or writing like I'm doing right now, and a little table next to it. Very comfortable. What I really liked was the A/V electronics panel attached to the right side of the big desk, which allowed me to connect my Roku (YAY! I can't tell you how many times I've been frustrated by hotels that either don't offer it or intentionally block the HDMI port). And there were several USB outlets including two attached to the little alarm clock. Plenty of drawer and closet space, too. And the bedside lighting was great - a little reading light or a bigger one, at your bedside, for a nice convenience. Nice view from the room but you can block out the light with both sheer and full drapes that were easy to operate. Bathroom was not huge but still really nice. Shower was great - water heated up fast, and plenty of pressure and nice easily adjustable nozzle (plus two additional sprays that spray horizontally, not quite sure what those are for). And those towels were thick and fluffy and plenty of washcloths and towels, illuminated makeup mirror too. Housekeeping service was excellent - both in terms of speed of delivery and in quality of service. And I LOVED using the Marriott app to request housekeeping service because it included a chat feature where someone responds to your request and you can even request additional things and add notes. More importantly, service was delivered almost immediately after I requested it, and the room was really spotless and tidy. Plus, the housekeeping staff were very pleasant when I passed them in the hallway. While some may think it a bit inconvenient to have all the ice machines on the second floor, I actually liked it a lot. Took me maybe a minute to go down and back to get ice. Plenty of ice machines and even a microwave in that same room with the ice machines. And finally an ice bucket where the plastic bag is big enough to accommodate the full bucket's worth of ice. If you don't feel like going that far (please), you can also ask for ice to be delivered to your room. There was also a small refrigerator in the room, so you can keep the bottled water (which they actually provided complimentary unlike so many other hotels) cold. Or even a bottle of wine or small food items. Air conditioning worked really well. Controls were easy to use and you can set the temperature to anything you like (65 in our case, at night). Some hotels limit the range. And it was quiet too. Great elevators. With a hotel this size, they've got the higher floors on one bank and the lower floors on another, and plenty of them available. Rarely waited longer than 20-30 seconds for an elevator, and they were fast and comfortable. We've stayed at some hotels in which the elevators were absurdly slow and memorably bad but these elevators are great. Enjoyed the bar at Osteria Il Pronto very much. Service was consistently excellent, drinks were great, very well made, and bartenders were personable. Also enjoyed a nice lunch at the bar from there, food was excellent. My wife was attending a conference here and the facilities were great. Convenient Starbucks, clearly marked directions to meeting rooms, great food service at the conference including gluten-free marked items (nice touch for conference food), and elevators you can take from the room floors directly to the meeting room floors, and/or from meeting room floors to the garage. I have to say in closing once again, for a huge convention hotel, this place exceeded our already high expectations and we would definitely stay here again in Indianapolis. read more

This was my first time actually staying at the JW. I have been to the restaurants and Starbucks in the JW, which I recommend, but I never had an excuse to stay since I live about 25 minutes away. We were attending a friends NYE party and got a room at a great rate for a holiday night. We were on the 19th floor and had a great view of the white river, zoo and canal. The room was spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable. The bellman, Christian, was super friendly and so were the front desk staff. I cannot speak to the parking situation because we parked in the garage where I work since it was free for me but based on the website, there is valet for $47/night. It would probably be worth finding a cheaper garage in walking distance. Highly recommend the JW if you're from out of town or if you want a play to stay for a staycation. read more

I wasn't sure I would ever stay at the JW since I live locally but my company had a event here and offered a block of rooms so we took advantage as a staycation. Our room was gorgeous and our view was magnificent. I'm honestly sad we didn't stay a full weekend and just did one night. As a Bonvoy member, the staff acknowledged and thanked me all weekend for staying here. Due to the amount of events at the JW, we had an issue with parking. Although we were guest at the hotel, the garage was full and we had to park at the parking garage for the Marriott across the street so it wasn't super convenient. However, the staff offered valet. My negative experiences: -The clerk at check in by the name of Kailyn was much less than friendly. She was unhelpful, curt, and my perception of the interaction: I was a nuisance to her. -I arrive to room 2717 with luggage in tow. When I opened the door it had a heavy stench of cigarette smoke. I was spending 4 nights and in no way staying in that room. -after speaking with concierge service over the phone they immediately gave me another room on the same floor. They requested I go back down to check in and get the new keys. The same clerk "assisted" me. Once again she was unfriendly, did not ask why I was changing rooms, and did not offer an apology. All she said, "here are your keys." My positive experience outshined the negative and therefore the rating is 4 stars. -ALL the gentlemen in valet are so friendly, courteous, and helpful. -the house keeper that arrived to my first room profusely apologized for the cigarette stench. -the views to White River (odd number rooms) and the city views (even number rooms) are AMAZING from the 27th floor. -elevators are only operable by key card access only. I felt very safe. -the hotel is conveniently located to Lucas Oil stadium, Pacers stadium, and downtown attractions. With no traffic we arrived from Indy Airport to the Marriott in 15min. -Lastly, manager Ellie did a wonderful job at service recovery for the negative customer service experience and for the first rooms smell. We've stayed her on a handful of occasions for club sports travel, on weekends where the rates get doubled. Location is convenient, and the hotel is nice. However, as a Marriott Titanium member, I think their rates are high for what they offer (at least for these in-demand weekends we've chosen). Parking: They share a parking garage with 3 hotels, making self-parking an unpredictable nightmare. The hotel hosts evening events, which makes parking even worse. Valet is a necessity if you need to drive at all--or you could park at a lot elsewhere. Club/Lounge: It is a really nice perk, with a variety of nice food, drinks, and snacks. However, their elevator situation makes it a challenge to access if you aren't assigned a room in the same tower as the club. Each time we've stayed it has been a total pain--you have to go to the lower floor, then switch elevators to go back up. One of these days I'm going to remember to request a room in the same elevator system as the lounge. Nearby hotels: It is attached to the Springhill Suites and Courtyard. I've stayed at all. If the rate is significantly different, I opt for the Springhill. They aren't as fancy, and they don't offer club level--but they are a great alternative if the price is significantly different. read more

Hotel is very nice, walking distance to convention hall, proximity to a lot of restaurants, easy access to the airport etc. Rooms are spacious and clean, view of downtown is awesome. Hotel lobby bar gets busy and breakfast buffet is probably the best one I had in the US. Seriously. The down side of this hotel is mattress comfort and price. For $250 per night, hard and not comfortable mattresses are not acceptable which is why I cannot give them 5 stars. read more

Location, location, location. Omg! What a great location! Located in downtown Indianapolis. This hotel is gorgeous and gives you views for days. I'm always happy when I have to visit Indianapolis for work. Rooms are spacious. Love the floor to ceiling glass windows. They are tinted so you can enjoy the views from morning to evening. Bathroom is spacious. In room coffee and bottled water is complementary. The executive lounge on the 31st floor is lovely! I love my breakfast options included smoked salmon and eggs. Pretty fancy, JW Marriott! The gym is located on the 2nd floor. Oh the views continue. The indoor pool is so nice! I always forget to bring my bathing suit to squeeze in some laps. The property is massive. There is a Marriott, Courtyard, and the Fairfield Suites attached to this property. The parking lot is shared by most of the facilities except the Marriott. Pay attention to your parking floor and section you parked in. I forgot the first time I stayed there and for my steps in early that morning. The customer service there is great! Only thing I did not like was no mini fridge in the room and the only ice machines are on the 2nd floor. Disappointment. That's my feeling that I'm left with after our impromptu stay at the JW. I wanted to love it. What I did love? The views. Beautiful views of the city from our 32nd floor room. We watched the sunrise this morning, and it was amazing. Everything else was below par. We checked before arriving to make sure that our room had a separate tub and shower. We were told it did. It did not. No room service. We had to run down to High Velocity to pick food up for our kiddos. We asked for some extra napkins. They were out of napkins. There was no in room information on dining, amenities, etc. We had requested extra towels and did not receive them. For what we paid I am just really disappointed in the level of service and misinformation we received. read more

I wish I could say I stayed here unfortunately I didn't but was here for a two day conference. The room for the conference was large with comfortable seating and close bathrooms. They have a Starbucks on site on the second floor which was convenient as well two sit down dining options and a grab and go at lunch. Since the mini was Saturday really appreciated the grab and go. The building is modern with a well developed floor plan. Great location close to everything downtown. They have a nice gym and spa.
