I meant to leave this review right after my wedding but somehow it didn't go up. My wedding was not an exception, it was EPIC HOT for our outdoor wedding , the DJ table set up had to be moved to a different spot in the middle of the set up , and guests were exhausted even before the start of the reception ‍... If it wasn't for John and Jay, I honestly think my reception could have been so DEAD... Yet, they performed such wonderful team work to make it happen- through it all- despite of the circumstances. My guests were good mixture of English speaking only with Korean speaking only and the participation from both ends were so crazy! Totally unexpected! I cannot recommend John enough!! Going with John was the best decision I ever made! John was completely fluent in both Korean and English, incredibly confident and upbeat, and really knew how to make our reception fun with games and entertainment! Everyone at my wedding had so much fun at the reception, John kept all the guests engaged and laughing the entire time, and to this day, everyone keeps raving about how awesome my MC was!! TO TOP IT ALL OFF - Lots of vendors that I booked were very hands off and didn't really communicate with me until two weeks before wedding, but John went above and beyond, checking in on me, sending me helpful timelines, and keeping me on track with the things he needed from me. In the final month, I was getting confused on how I should set up the ceremony (processional, recessional, unity ceremony etc.), and my wedding coordinator wasn't too helpful because she didn't understand the Korean cultural nuances. Even though it wasn't part of his job, John was very patient and hopped on 1 hr+ calls with me several times to help me put my ceremony and reception timeline together. He gave me many recommendations on how to honor Korean parents with rose presentations, how to incorporate the sand ceremony, the order of parents/family in the processional, how to structure the toasts/speeches at specific times to keep guests engaged, etc. Seriously, during the crazy and stressful month, you have no idea how helpful this was. So I just got married 3 days ago and John was our MC and brought in an awesome DJ. Our guests had a blast and everyone thought John was awesome and very professional. My wife and I wanted a fun wedding and he really made sure to keep up the spirit and keep things lively. So if you want a fun wedding definitely give John a call. Like many others I found MC John on Yelp. Finding a DJ / MC is actually a lot harder than I expected. It just so happened that our favorite choice was also Korean which was helpful in our situation - even though our entire ceremony and wedding was done in English it was nice he could instruct our guests in both Korean and English when needed. His English is perfect as is his Korean so don't exclude him thinking he is a bilingual only DJ. So one thing I realized after the wedding is that things that you can't plan will go wrong on your wedding but when you have professionals like John and our coordinator at the Turnip Rose (we had our wedding at their location Celebrations on Newport Blvd) the guests don't even know anything went wrong. There were some timeline issues that were my fault (we forgot to send the DJ timeline to our coordinator) but they both worked quickly in the background to make sure they were both on the same page. And we had some time issues because table greet and roam took longer than expected so we quickly changed up the schedule to fit. In any case you need people that can quickly work through issues like John so that was very nice - we didn't have to worry about a thing. The most important thing though - my wife and I had a blast, we had a fun chair removal game that we are still laughing about and we danced the night away. Our guests also had a blast. All of our friends were on the dance floor till the very end thanks to the DJ that John brought in (I can't believe I forgot the DJ's name, sorry!). We had to end the night at 10:45 so we could do a sparkler send off but everyone was still dancing right till the end.
