I…read morehad a gift receipt for the outfit and the cashier said I would receive $8.00 in store credit. Since we received this gift two weeks prior to Christmas, I felt that item was purchased at regular price. I asked her why the credit was so low since I had a gift receipt. She told me store policy is to issue the lowest sale price after a certain amount of time has passed. I didn't question the policy as we were returning an item in February that we had received in December. She then proceeded to say "Well, that's how much the person paid for the item anyway." I don't know why she felt it necessary to tell me that. Was she trying to insinuate the only reason my daughter received an item from Janie and Jack was because it was marked down ?!? It was a rude & unnecessary comment to make. We, later found out that the pajama was actually purchased at $50.00. Had my experience with the cashier been more pleasant, I would have made a purchase and willingly paid the difference. However ,what she said made me feel uncomfortable and I didn't want to spend another minute in that store.

This place has everything....clothes, shoes, accessories, jewelry, and all of it compliments one another. The clerk was kind, and helpful when I asked for suggestions, the store is clean, bring and inviting, and the dressing room was luxurious! Now mind you, this is a two story mall and the larger department stores are two stories, of course. I was so proud of myself to know that I had to enter around the JCP area. This was my second visit to this store, although my first was several years ago. Being somewhat of a nit wit, not only did I enter JC Penny's on the second floor, when the Disney Store is on the first floor, but I made the wrong turn when exiting. Six hours later, well it felt like that, I found the Disney Store. The store is magical, just like everything Disney. Neat as a pin, so I didn't have to straighten out one thing, but the carpet drives me nuts! Solid black, with small blocks of color splattered all over it, which constantly makes a person like me look down and want to pick it up. I found exactly what I came in for, which were men's Disney t-shirts, for my friend Bob, who vacations only in Disney World, twice a year and left yesterday for his next one. There was a nice selection and they were originally priced at $12.50, marked down to $5.99. He is Mickey's best friend, so I had to buy him that one and a Grumpy one as well. Near the cash stand is a rack of Disney tote bags for $2.50 each. I purchased one and used it as the gift bag. He can reuse it again. Now, let's go back to me loving shopping and me being a nit wit... instead of grabbing my purse that morning, I just grabbed my credit card. When I reached into my jacket pocket, it was gone. My mind was frantic, did I lose it, did I leave it at FYE's? Knowing that I was meeting hubby for a late lunch, in the area and going back home or towards FYE was insane, because I was due to meet him any minute! I asked the cashier if she could hold the merchandise for a couple of hours and I would just pick up the gifts after lunch, using hubby's card. She being so sweet agreed and I did pick up the items right after lunch and used the most perfect entrance to do so! Ha ha! I used to go to this mall plenty of times in the past when I still lived in New Jersey. The stores are all going out due to too much online shopping, as well as shoplifting, and of course the variety of stores shrinking over time. The mall used to have a much better variety of stores in the past from a toy store, a Wendy's, a Chick-fil A, and many other stores that are no longer a part of it. The mall today is almost completely barren and empty with little to no surviving stores left which is sad. Sure it has been modernized and renovated over the years to help give it a more modern feel, but it is only a matter of time before it is completely gone and torn down to make room for another warehouse. The only good thing about it now is the food court selection is slightly better than in the past and all the food places are all in the same vicinity not scattered like it used to be. But in the end, the stores now don't offer the same quality or value of products you would get in the past when there were much better stores to choose from.

Inside, time folds in on itself like a pair of clearance khakis. There are stores selling perfume, gadgets, jeans tight enough to restrict original thought. There's a Cheesecake Factory, which exists on the same moral plane as purgatory: vast, overlit, and full of folks trying to remember what it was they came in for. The mall is clean. The ceilings are high. The escalators move up and down like Sisyphus with a corporate sponsor. No one seems to know why they're there, but they are, floating from JC Penney to Old Navy in a retail daze. The air smells faintly of artificial scents and unspoken longing. There's something poetic about a mall in the 21st century. A living fossil. A place where you can still see teenagers in small herds, clutching bubble tea and dreams. Where old men power-walk past Forever 21, defiant in orthopedic sneakers. Where the Apple Store shines like a sterile shrine to tech-assisted distraction. Three stars. Not because it's bad; it's not. It is precisely what it claims to be: a mall. A decent one. One with enough stores to feel like you might find something, even if you don't know what you're looking for. It would get four stars if it had a decent bookstore. It would get five if it could answer why I felt slightly lonelier when I left than when I arrived.

My daughter and I went in to look at communion dresses and veils. After…read morebeing shown some dresses (we were not allowed to touch the merchandise), my daughter had a few to try on. We were shown the "dressing room" - a small, blocked off area in the back of the store with no door (the owner's husband was walking around the store). The female owner told my daughter to take off her clothes and she would put the dresses on her. When I told the woman I would try them on my daughter, I was told I was not allowed to. When I tried again to be able to help my daughter, I was again told no as she (the owner) was careful with the dresses. When I objected again and said I would be careful touching the dresses and my daughter was private about her body I was again told no - I was not allowed to help my child try on the dresses. At this point my daughter was crying because the woman made her feel uncomfortable and as though she had done something wrong. We immediately left the store and took our business elsewhere. It was a very unfortunate experience my daughter was put through. What should have been a joyful experience was turned into an awful moment for my child. My daughter felt as though she had done something wrong and I had to explain it was the woman's shortcomings, and not my daughter's. We were fortunate to go to another store where we were treated wonderfully and my daughter found her dress. If Tokens of Affections were serious about treating customers well and wanting their business, they would see when they were making a child uncomfortable and do what they could to rectify the situation.
