The staff genuinely treats customers like family, they are honest, and never try to sell us unnecessary services. Since my spouse travels frequently for work, this is the only shop they trust to handle our car while they're away. Recently, I had an issue and was concerned about some noises coming from our vehicle. I left a voicemail, got a callback within an hour, and given our situation, they worked with us to come in to ensure everything was okay. But, just like a sickly child walking into the doctor's office looking perfectly healthy, our car didn't make the noise when it was checked, haha. The staff suggested recording the sound and bringing it back if it worsened over the weekend, as they are closed then. Also, when they don't have loaners available, they have a very reasonably priced partnership with Enterprise if a rental is needed. I'm truly grateful to everyone there for their caring and professional service. Before finding this gem, we had horror story after horror story trying to find a good shop for our vehicle. If I could I would give them a 0. 2 and a half years ago, I took my car to Pearl City Auto Works for a brake job. It cost me almost $5k to do it. Now they told me I gotta spend another $2400 to fix the same problem. My other half and I talked business with the owner's daughter Shay Nakamura about the situation and asked certain questions and she couldn't give any feedback to the situation at hand. She tried to give me a discount, but I don't think it was enough, considering I know for a fact they are charging me 3-4x the actual cost for the parts and then will eventually get more money back because of the cores. I text the number they text me with explaining my situation and there were no response. 2 phone numbers they text me from I left a text message, no response. That right there shows me that that they have poor communication skills. Communication was done with text. To be honest, I prefer real conversation with a person/company. I believe that they either did a poor job 2 and a half years ago or the quality of parts they used suck!! I got ripped off the first time and they tried to do that again the second time around. NEVER again will I do business with them!!

What really sold me was their familiarity with the neighborhood I was moving into -- that local knowledge made the whole process smoother and gave me confidence right away. They coordinated with me while their team was on vacation and scheduled my move for the very next day after they returned. Alfredo took the time to speak with me directly on the phone, answered every question, and made sure everything was lined up. On move day, only half of the crew ended up being available, and without me even asking, Alfredo proactively discounted the price. That level of integrity and customer care is rare. You could say I have a lot of experience with movers as I inherited my father's personally woodworked furniture which added to my own collection that he made for me. I have a lot of sentimental (and heavy) stuff plus I have a herniated disc, so moving is even more overwhelming. And moving every year for so long has been so much less than ideal. I had a go-to mover but they didn't reply when I reached out so I figured I would try someone new out bc, maybe I can have options. Incredibly, Making Moves packed everything much more thoroughly and somehow the move seemed shorter...?! Even accounting for the shorter distance, this move was seriously fast but not lacking one bit in caution. And here is the kicker, it was less expensive too and the team was bigger. I still love the other mover but this team has beyond proved itself so I guess this is my first choice mover now. Treat this team right. They are in demand for a reason.

I'm not one to purchase too many drinks that require recycling but do try to accumulate some whenever possible so going to drop off items aren't usually necessary as gathering enough items does take some time. As my recyclables starting to add up a bit and decided to see where's the closest drop off location to my surprise that this Halawa location is open on Sundays! Love that and it is quite deep in as I drove and easily found it and found the process quite easy as it's a simple driveway with a few parking stall just steps away from the drop off area so there isn't just one car but multiple folks are able to drop off without being each others way. There are signs to inform you of the process they follow, all the basically the same process of emptying your items in the huge gray bins which they weigh or count the items and head to the cashier to pick up your cash. The staff is very efficient and friendly as I thank them for being open on a Sunday as the time saved is priceless and getting my items dropped off gave me a bit of breathing room that was much needed. They found a leak caused by a small nail, and they patched it up. Asked them if they could just check my other tire, and funny enough they found one there too. Got two tires patched and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The pricing was very fair and felt it was worth bringing in for them to locate and repair. As someone that's also in the Waipahu area, this place is great for getting my tire services done.

If you use them, make sure you protect your own furniture by wrapping it well. This is the mistake I made. Also our tv was damaged, no cracked screen, we just have a vertical line during certain images on the left edge of the screen now. It was an expensive oled, we spent over 4k for it. They didn't use the box I purchased and assured me would be better out of the box. My fault for not insisting on using the box. Our tv stand suffered minor dings, like paint chips, I was able to cover it up with some touch up paint so no big deal. I would recommend them if you protect your own items well.

When called at noon to make sure they'd be there, no answer. After numerous phone calls between the agent, moving company rep (the ONLY ONE at Ewa Moving who was helpful & went above & beyond) and even the owner of Ewa Moving, items were finally picked up at 3:45p. They loaded up half because their "largest" truck couldn't do the complete move knowing full well it was 2 completely filled storage units. They finally got to my new home at 6:20p. They were supposed to set things up with what they had. Instead they left it in the garage. When I informed the owner his response was "Ok whatever we didn't finish, XXXXXXX will complete" Wow - lack of professionalism. He made it seem like it was my fault. As a customer I shouldn't have to be making endless phone calls & chasing down movers. This was a contracted move through a moving company. Even they were surprised at the attitude. I cannot ever recommend a company that treats their customers this way. Martin (the owner) says they do a lot of military moves. I'd think twice if they treat locals this way. *The rating would be a No Star but that's not an option.

I had a paint job for my Versa, and the shop removed the letters and car insignia on the trunk door…read moreof the station wagon. They replaced the large insignia, but they said that I would have to put back the small letters myself. Also while cleaning the car for an inspection, in addition to finding the small letters for the trunk door, I found water in my wheel well for the spare tire in the trunk. I told them that they forgot to reattach the other end of a plastic tube that ran rain water in the trunk door top right corner. They said that they don't detach that. But they had detached the rubber foam seal on trunk door when they painted the car. The seal is in the same area of the door as the plastic tube. If I had known ahead of time about the small letters, I might not have gotten the work done there. Usually shops will replace whatever they took off the car, and not leave everything inside the car for the owner to put back. To be fair, they did put back some of the stuff I found in the car after I picked up the car- like the car insignia, the rubber foam seal on the trunk door.

So after negotiating a drop off date (16 May) to get my truck repainted, it took 11 days to start…read moreworking on it. 27 May. It was finished and ready for pick up on 6 June. I was off island until that evening. They were closed 7 June and I picked it up 8 June. The repainted color I am satisfied with but the detail work was mediocre at best. There is a ton of overspray on the rubber around the windows and rear view mirrors. Additionally, there are already a few chips in the paint in a few spots which will be a problem in the near future. This has been months of frustration. I am now just over it and will not return to this establishment again for paint work. I will say that the manager was apologetic about the delays due to staffing issues but honestly due to the way this was handled initially, I should have been a top priority and more detail and attention should have been given to my vehicle. In the manager's defense, he did take matters into his hands and conducted a majority of the work himself and I am appreciative of that. I have spent the last 2 hours attempting to clean up the overspray and it will take me several more to get it all removed. Overall , I wish this would have been handled better but you live and you learn. Again, I am satisfied with the color but not the delays in service nor the level of attention to detail. I paid a pretty penny for my vehicle and the paint job was not cheap. The expectations were high but not met. This is my honest assessment and I have no hard feelings towards the establishment nor the folks I have dealt with during this process. Mahalo!
