a variety of donuts in a display case

I was in the area and wanted a donut. They had pretty good reviews on yelp so I decided to give them a try. They are located in a small plaza on the corner of Santa Monica and Alvarado. There are 3 businesses in the plaza and a total of 4 parking spaces, 1 of which is designated handicap. I was lucky to get a spot and went in. Inside was a bit dingy and there was bit much of a selection at 9:30am. While was looking through the case I saw perched on a donut hole a fly. I exited stage left.

A hidden gem! The best of the hidden gems! An Echo Park gem that has stood the test of time against gentrification unlike Chango, The Brite Spot, The Guadalupana, Costa Alegre, to name a few. Truth be told, I only stumbled upon K & K Donuts about a year ago when I was ravenous and opposed to giving my money to the once great, now subpar and overpriced Chipotle. It was love at first bite as I devoured my egg, cheese, and ham croissant. On that note...here's what I've tried: The Egg, Cheese, and Ham Croissant: flaky, buttery croissant with melted American cheese and Black Forest ham. Scrumptious! The Egg, Cheese, Ham, and Bacon Croissant: glorious, but more filling than you'd expect. It'll keep you energized for hours-on before a hankering for a second-serving sets in. The Egg and Cheese Croissant: Simple yet delicious. The Tuna Croissant Sandwich: The Winner! The best sandwich I've tried here, and arguably the best from the menu that I've only just made a dent in. This stacked bad boy has a generous amount of tuna salad, fresh, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, onions, jalapeños, and avocado. Better than anything I could ever make at home. Guess what? I have never spent more than $8 on a sandwich here, and trust me, I'm not walking home hungry. What seals the deal, though? The welcoming, warm owner that is always smiling and ready to make you one of the best sandwiches of your life. To end this unexpectedly long review, I leave you with this piece of advice: Apple Fritter. Do it. You know you want to. Totally worth it.

I've pasted this place dozens of times but finally came in after seeing all the positive reviews. They provide everything from donuts to sandwiches to smoothies and more. I got myself a croissant ham, cheese, bacon sandwich and it was great! Honestly gonna come here more seeing as how LA loves to hike up prices on sandwiches and juices/smoothies while everything here is priced reasonably!!! I been looking for a place like this to go to!

The food is amazing especially the boba as you can tell they serve it really well! The ladies that work there are super kind and I'm so glad they can get those types of people! The ambiance is just like every donut shop it's nothing special!

My friend was going to drop me off home, and knew that I needed to grab dinner before heading home so she took me to this spot that she's a fan of. I'm so glad she took me here, to this casual, lowkey spot with all kinds of sandwiches. The prices were so good, and they even had donuts, so I couldn't resist getting a cinnamon crunch blueberry donut on top of the #6 pastrami sandwich. Despite the cheap prices on their sandwiches, the pastrami was delicious and fresh and I really enjoyed it. I could definitely see myself having these kinds of sandwiches for lunch regularly. The woman at the counter was friendly and nice, and happy to answer my questions about the different kinds of donuts. She took my order quickly, and got the sandwich out to us pretty speedily. I love a good no-frills spot that's good at what it does, and this place is definitely it.

The juice was really good and hit exactly what I was craving. The acai bowl was decent, but nothing memorable. Toppings were fine and the texture was okay, it just didn't stand out compared to other places I've had. Overall, I'd come back if I was in the area, mainly for the juice since that was the highlight.

I stopped in on one of the hottest days of the summer and discovered this hidden gem on Sunset Blvd in artsy creative sunny Silver Lake, Los Angeles. I had heard of Naturewell and their locations (also in DTLA, on the go in their truck van for catering/events and in Altadena, formerly), but this was my first full experience trying a good variety including some of their awesome all natural snacks. I was greeted right away and got to take in everything including their extensive as well as growing collection of grab and good goodies, wellness shots and beverages. I wasn't feeling up to a bowl (definitely next time), but a Berrylicious smoothie and some truly awesome Gopal's Savory Pumpkin Seed Sprouties were the perfect mix. I went with the 20oz large size for my bev as it was a really hot day and only $1 more. My too cool for school Bar-rista even offered me a nice ice cold water while I waited as we bonded over that L.A. heat and humidity. They had some pickup orders and inquiring individuals passing by on the street and a few boxes to increase their shelf inventory. There's cute cozy chairs and tables out front, not to mention some space to enjoy their plants inside and that amazing AC. Eco friendly w/ easy cup carries for multiple drinks. They accept most forms of payment, including digital pay (Apple, Samsung, etc) and offer military discounts for those have served and/or are currently serving. Easy bike parking out front, local street parking and very close to metro stops as well as not more than 20 minutes from metro stations. Outside area in front is fairly open and pup friendly. Come fell the well/wellness of Naturewell.

They don't…read moreknow this but I was acting as a caretaker that day so picking up food for someone who just got out of surgery. Being a caretaker, even if for 2 days, is draining. So to encounter what I did in the midst of that was disheartening. Basically, I came in and was not greeted at all. I waited. I waited. Then, I moved closer to where the barista was working. Still nothing. Then, a man comes in and the same barista greets him. Turns out the man was picking up an order. Same as me. But he was likely with Uber Eats or Door Dash. After he took care of that man...mind you greeted, got his order and bid him ado...he still didn't attend to me. So, I finally greet him: Hi, how are you doing? I'm here to pick up a to-go order. The name is... He turns to go check and may have said something minimal. I can't remember. I do remember he never made eye contact. He must've said it's coming or something. I go back towards the front to wait. Another man enters, who is greeted by a different employee. Kindly. Takes care of the guy and even says have a good day. That same, second man brings me my to-go order. Doesn't say have a good day. I mean it's not like it's not possible, right. Don't gaslight me. I just 2 different people treat 2 different people better than I was. I check my bag and ask for utensils. He gets them. That's it. I decide to call after I left. Mind you parking stinks around this area. I would never think to come here to struggle and pay for parking and deal with bad customer service and food that is mid at best. The manager, a lady, wasn't much better. She apparently was sitting in the store and remembered me and the color I was wearing. She's basically like I saw you. I don't know what happened. I'll have to check with my staff because we don't discriminate. Mind you, ai didn't mention race. Was it because I was black? Perhaps because I was a woman? I will never know. What I do know is I was treated differently real time. Looked past. Given a lower level of priority and reception. But I'm puzzled that if this manager saw 3 very different interactions, why didn't she intervene. People have built in biased whether they are aware of it or not. And there is a difference between intent and impact. I did not feel seen. I did not feel empathy. She offered a free drink. She apologized. But it didn't feel heartfelt or sincere. You know how when you can tell when they are genuinely disappointed and want to really make it right. I told her that I didn't even live in the area and wasn't thrilled about returning. I won't return. And as I said the coffee and food was mid. Do better.

First impress of the vibes: I was greeted by somone the minute I walked in. The smoothing/juice bar was nicely decorated and organized in the deli. This place is totally a vibe... it's not just clean..but in perfection of alignment and organization. I bought a few things there : roasted peanut butter, chocolate biscotti, Spanish paprika chips, pistachios toffee chocolate and some hot food including chicken noodles, steak, chicken thigh, yam ( taste like honey) Chow mein, Mac and cheese ( so good) . And Most importantly the strawberry glaze smoothie...omg... that $25 so worth it. Actually everything was so delicious. Was it expensive overall? Yes. Worth it? My Brian say no, but my heart say yes. I would definitely come back. Yes to the smoothies and everything there I bought...food , very good quality.

Erewhon Silver Lake is, by far, the worst Erewhon location in the city…read more I regularly shop at Erewhon and have been to every location. I'm frequently at Studio City, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood, so I have plenty of experience comparing the stores. Unfortunately, Silver Lake consistently stands out for all the wrong reasons. The biggest issue seems to be a serious lack of management and proper employee training. The team often appears confused about basic tasks, from printing labels to answering simple questions about prepared food. Something that should take a minute can turn into a long wait because no one seems to know what to do or who is responsible. The prepared-food experience is especially frustrating. Multiple times I've been told, "It'll be out in 10-15 minutes, they're making it now," only to wait 15 minutes and then be told, "Sorry, we were wrong--they're not making it anymore today." How does that happen so regularly? Even the food quality seems noticeably worse here. You would expect the exact same Erewhon item to be consistent from location to location, but that has not been my experience. I regularly eat the breakfast slider at Studio City without an issue, yet after eating the same item from Silver Lake, I felt sick. Even the meat and other prepared foods at Studio City consistently seem fresher to me. And the problems aren't limited to the prepared-food counter. I've purchased prebiotic yogurt here only to discover it was expired. I've also bought fruit that looked fine from the outside, cut it open shortly afterward, and realized it was so underripe that it was basically inedible and went straight into the trash. I understand that every store can have an occasional bad day. But when the problems are this consistent--from food quality and inventory information to expired products, produce quality, long waits, and employees struggling with basic procedures--it points to a management and training problem rather than an isolated mistake. For a store charging Erewhon prices, customers should absolutely expect better quality control and a much more organized operation. Today was my last visit to the Silver Lake location. I'll stick with Studio City, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood, where my experiences have been significantly better. Thanks, Silver Lake. Have a good one.
