Simply an Outstanding Experience!!! I recently had an issue with one of my two AC systems, and--based on a great experience years ago--I turned once again to K&M Heating and Cooling. I'm so glad I did. The son of the former owners came out personally and very quickly to diagnose and fix the problem. Within a short time, our AC was running perfectly again. A few days later, K&M also replaced the blower motor in our furnace, and despite the extreme heat outside, our home is now cool and comfortable. Truly outstanding work. What sets K&M apart is not just their technical skill, but their honesty, kindness, and willingness to go the extra mile for their customers. Every employee I've interacted with has been polite, friendly, and genuinely helpful. I want to give special recognition to Amy in the office. Her friendliness, attention to detail, and excellent communication make a huge difference. She listens carefully when a problem arises and ensures the team is fully informed. That level of care is rare. Bottom line: K&M gets things done--even in situations where other HVAC companies give up. Their service, professionalism, and integrity are exceptional. I was very impressed with K & M after they fixed our heat. They were honest and quick to respond. We had to wait on a part and thought we'd be waiting months but it came in less than two weeks. This company is wonderful! Many years ago we bought a house with a furnace that was quite old. When it broke down their business number was on the furnace so we called them. They gave us an estimate to fix it, and they kept our expectations reasonable. It was a risk we took because the cost of a new furnace was way out of our budget. They fixed it and it ran for at least 12 more years until I decided to replace it even though it was still running great! We remodeled and it just made sense to replace it when it had to be moved. Besides it was over 30 years old. They saved us a ton of money more than once. They are honest, straight forward, dependable, reputable and know what they are doing. I HIGHLY recommend without hesitation! By the way, I read an earlier review about the receptionist, and I can't understand it. I've never experienced that. In fact, she has worked extremely hard to get workers out to our house as fast as possible when we had no heat on a 13 degree morning! She's exceptional and professional! read more

Will never use any other company, and can only hope they stay in business forever!! When we first bought our place 15 years ago, the heat pump was on its last legs. Being new to the area, when it finally bit the dust, I had no alternative but to pick someone out of the phone book. Luckily for me, that someone was K&M. It was hot as hell out, but K&M came out the same day we called & by the very next day we had a new heat pump installed & the rest of our system inspected, with detailed maintenance instructions provided. And even though they didn't know us from Adam - when I had my checkbook in hand, I was told that I'd get a bill in the mail. (Oh, & the price estimate was spot on.) Fast-forward several years later when we had a fan problem. Again, K&M came that very afternoon, & the job was repaired by the next morning. Two very BEST examples of how wonderful these people are? First time - we had a minor "flood" in our basement, that I thought might be connected to our a/c, so called K&M. They came out & figured that it wasn't the a/c, but a backup in our drain system. Not only did they give me the name & number of a reputable plumbing company, but they refused to charge me for coming out & making the diagnosis!!! Second time - just last year the electrical box for our well pump stopped, & while I knew this wasn't in their line of business, I called the lovely, friendly, & EXTREMELY polite lady who runs the office, who again gave me a referral to someone who could help. When I explained my predicament & that K&M had referred me to them, those folks were out in a shot, & my problem was solved by the next morning. Sorry - but I can't agree or frankly even believe the poor reviews others have posted here. K&M has NEVER let us down during 15 years of dealing with the heating & a/c (& plumbing & electrical referrals) for an old farmhouse. I've been using K&M for over 15yrs now. They've serviced and repaired my Rudd unit at my previous house for years. At my business they installed a Mitsubishi system, and 10yrs later We had them install central heat and air in our new commercial building. Recently I had them install all new duct work and dual Trane system at my new residence. When ever I had a question or an issue with anything they have always been prompt on responding and have always solved and repaired any problems that I have had. Further more they are very honest, I've always left a key out for them if I had to have any work performed, and the bill is always fair and honest. I've recommended them to my close friends and elderly parents years ago and the first call is always to K&M before they would consider calling any one else. It's hard to find honest, trustworthy, people in this field.. They have always stood by their work and have gone the extra mile! read more

K&M is great. They installed a 3.5 ton Trane xi16 heat pump at our Etlan farm house and we have had no issues during the six years we have owned the unit. The owner is reliable, honest, and provides very competitive estimates. Their installers know what they are doing and are well supervised. We will definitely use them again. read more

Horrible!!! Do not stand behind their work. We have a new home (just over 4 years old) with a Trane dual zone AC unit. One of the units stopped working so we called a service company (not K&M I might add). They informed us that the unit had 2 copper lines that were bent and touching each other which had caused a leak due to normal use and them rubbing together (they shouldn't have been touching). He mentioned it was a pretty normal thing in these units but its easily solved when installing and something installers have to do often. He told us we should have the installers come out as they didn't check, and they should stand behind their work. We pull out our builders documentation to see K&M were the installers. Upon calling they said "Sorry...its not in warranty for that." Well you would THINK they would stand behind their workmanship...and they even admitted to not opening the units when they install. Why would you not? So, we will be bringing our honest HVAC company back and paying them over $1000 to fix K&Ms faulty install job. Horrible business! read more

The receptionist is quite rude. Your first impression with a company is when the phone is answered... and with this company it is poor from the start. She is short and argumentative. We had a scheduled appointment, called the morning of the appointment and she acted bothered when asked for a ballpark time frame. We canceled the appointment and will certainly not refer to any one in the area. read more

Called 4 HVAC companies around the Culpeper, Orange area. H and M were the best price. Had a problem with installation. The circuit breaker was not turned off to the thermostat when they replaced the outside unit and air exchanger. The Wi-Fi thermostat, for some reason, fried when they disconnected the breaker outside. They replace with a very basic digital unit. Several days later went to their office and was told that it would be replaced with a comparable Wi-Fi unit. It was being ordered right there and told it would be in the next week. Wasn't contacted so went in about three weeks later. Was treated like I was not getting the upgrade, tho due to their negligence. Over two months now and nothing. Warning, if you have a high end thermostat be sure YOU turn off the circuit breaker. read more
