Came in during lunch and realize that they were pretty slow. The staff was nice and friendly. Is the food amazing not really. But i like the fact that you can pick and choose what you want. The country style steak was pretty good though. You get a good portion for what you pay for and you can get any amount of main dishes you want. Just have to pay for it. There was sign on door yesterday, not sure sure when they decided shutter this location, but I'm pretty sure lack of sales and aging customer base was the reason. Johnny farmhouse across street didnt help them out either, identical food items with better seasoning and more livey atmosphere. K&W always lack flavor and bland seasoning, due to it cater for older folks with high blood pressure concerns. Also it can be pretty expensive due its ala cart pricing. Again fine if you porpotion your meal (lite eater) but if your hungry good luck. Farewell k&W. Just ate at K&W on Northline in Greensboro and it was the worst meal ever and I just had a veggie plate. Mac & cheese had a cream for the cheese, just awful I guess it's cheaper than using cheese. collard greens were awful, taste like canned, and string Beans ehh, canned. My dad had turkey stuffing and cranberry that was less than par, a pie that you couldnt even tell the flavor, quite honestly it tasted like myMac and cheese. Worst yet, it cost $28. Just ridiculous. My family and I in the past have come here and we were excited to come back. Unfortunately, it no longer has any good food. I had choose a chocolate pudding that had seemed fine but when I looked closer it looked as if it had the texture of rice pudding and the whipped cream on top had a very distinct thick layer that I could tell it was sitting out for a very long time. Been awhile but still good K & W is a regional Cafeteria chain specializing in Southern Comfort Food. At one time, there was one in Cornelius because the gentleman who owned K&W had a lake house a couple blocks over and this was his showcase. Unfortunately he passed away and with no local connection, service and quality quickly suffered and it eventually closed. From a business standpoint that made sense since he had to bus employees from a hour away just to staff the restaurant. When our kitchen was being remodeled, we ate many a good dinner at that location and it was a favorite of my late Sister-in-Law. My wife really enjoyed the place and kept making comments about how much she missed it. This location is in Concord and I went to it a couple of times when I worked in Concord and generally found it to be very good. On Sunday recently, after Church on Sunday, I drove her over to Concord so she could enjoy K&W again. Arrived there at about 11:10 and promptly went through the line. Good selection although there was a disconnect on the salad section which unfortunately is fairly common from what I have observed in the Cornelius location and others as well. Must be the least trained position because on multiple occasions, when it came time to make a salad choice, the attendant disappeared. I must confess, I pigged out. I had the Turkey with Dressing and Cranberries but I also had the Ham as well along with pureed Sweet Potatoes and Pecan Pie. All was delicious. My wife had Pot Roast which is one of her favorites as well. Good food and as far as service, being a cafeteria not much you can say here except they did keep out glasses of Tea filled. This was my first time actually eating at K&W cafeteria. My mother has been a fan of this eatery for a very very long time. I was really surprised at the prices there! Not in a good way. I paid nearly $10 for just a small piece of salmon and a half a cup of collard greens. No drink! I believe they must offer a senior citizen discount or something. Because there were so many seniors there. If anyone is ever looking to reach the senior market... It would be silly not to stop at K&W. The food was decent, but nothing exceptionally memorable. The waitress was very friendly, and was the best part of our visit. The bathrooms were clean. My sister got free refills on her sweet tea, so that was good. We had an unwelcome guests at our table. An ant! That disgusted me, but it's better than a roach. So in summation... Bland, overpriced food, free tea refills, friendly waitress, and unwanted crawling insects, but a clean bathroom... OMG, this was the worst K&W I have ever gone to. They skimped on everything. My mom wanted egg custard. Only had coconut cream & pecan.

Friendly staff however I wasn't thoroughly impressed with the food. The restaurant itself puts you in the mind of Piccadilly (if you remember that far back) and all food is al la carte if you're into that sort of thing. Seasoning and flavoring was missing which was a huge disappointment as coming from Florida and a melting pot of a place, I was going to miss good ole' soul food and was ecstatic when I saw this place. Now, the coconut creme pie is to die for and the sweet tea reminds me of home. The chef come out and spoke and checked on us which was a nice touch however, the food is quite bland. I don't usually do reviews but for the past two months I have been eating lunch at K&W cafeteria in Concord. I have been blown away by the food, service and overall cleanliness of the establishment. One of my favorite TV Shows of all time is "Cheers". My favorite part of the theme song is, "you wanna' go where everybody knows your name" and this is a close to the show as I can get. Let's Start with the warm, friendly host Olivia J, from the moment I arrive Olivia J. has greeted me with a warm smile and has already informed me of the specials of the day. Her warm southern hospitality is infectious throughout the restaurant. She makes me feel at home. Justin B. and Tyler M. are delightful food servers, they are fast, and they always use gloves, they have learned exactly what I like so I don't even have to ask. Ashia C. is also very sweet with a warm voice and a friendly smile. Like i said, I've been eating here almost every day for the last two months and it feels like home. Big Shout out to Chris C. who is the general manger. He hired these fine folks and he keeps it all together. I love the food and i certainly love the people. I visited this location with two of my residents for dinner. The line flowed smoothly and all of the food was hot and fresh. The problems started when we sat down at the table to actually eat our food. We needed more space than the booth they set us in so I asked our waitress Barbara, if we could put two tables together. She told us to go ahead and slide them together. About 14 minutes into the meal, she walked by the table and asked if anybody else will be joining us. I told her no and then she walked off and came back and made a smart comment that we took up one of her tables and we could've all just sat at one table. To say that I was appalled at how disrespectful she was is an understatement. Then one of my residents asked for a refill on her beverage. Barbara came back to the table not only with the refill that my resident asked for but with two other refills for the other resident, that he did not even ask for mind you, and threw them on the table. I have experienced poor customer service before but this is absolutely outrageous. As my residents made their next few requests, she walked off and didn't even acknowledge them. On a brighter note, the restaurant was clean overall and I did not notice any tables littered with debris. On the way out, I asked for a To go bag as well as a refill on the tea to go. When she came back to the table, the bag had tea splashed all over it. I love K&W and always ate here in my hometown, but as this is my first visit to the one in Concord, it just might be my last time dining in. I will have to take my food to go from now on if this is the kind of customer service that I will receive when I dine in. This location is rather convenient to the area that I live, my family and I have visited this location numerous times. The food is always very tasty and the restaurant employees are always willing and ready to help. On my last visit around the 3rd of September 2020 I encountered a very disturbing situation with the kitchen supervisor. I inquired about why she wasn't wearing a protective mask, all other employees were cover and wearing a protective mask. She indicated to me that she had difficulties wearing a mask. That's not fair to the customers and the other employees for her to disregard the health of others. If she can't wear the mask she shouldn't be allowed to work around food considering the covid-19 pandemic. I can't eat here again if she's not going to use proper precautions to protect others. We are enjoying our second trip to this K&W. Nice experience, clean heavily used location. Staff is very helpful and serve generous portions. K&W serves regional food cooked simply but we'll. Chicken livers were nicely done, well cleaned before they were fried excellent simple Mac and cheese, disappointed in the spinach pie, tough crust and for my taste under seasoned. Table service was excellent frequent checks to be sure we were doing well. Overall a very good experience for a cafeteria style setting. read more
