I was in the area running an errand early Saturday morning. I searched for breakfast near by and Sunshine came up first. Checked a few reviews and it seemed like a good spot. Walked in, we were seated immediately. The inside has country decor which was cute. It seemed a little outdated and could use a deep cleaning. The coffee cups had dents around the edges. Looked as if they were teeth chips. Yikes. Our server was awesome, friendly , smiling and very helpful. There was a lot of foot traffic of people in and out dining in and to go orders. It took a little while for our food to come out but not a big deal. There was absolutely no flavor or seasoning in any of the food. The food presentation was nice, but everything was bland, tasteless. Even adding salt did not help. For me, its a hard pass on returning. When we checked out, I noticed that their health score was a 90. We didnt notice that before hand and would have passed. Customer service gets 5 stars alone. read more

We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday and were greeted right away.They were pretty busy, however we only waited about 10 minutes. A cute restaurant decorated farmhouse style. I ordered the 3 eggs over medium with bacon and hashbrowns. The eggs were almost overcooked but still good. Bacon was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy. The hash browns had a funny taste which I think was from the oil they use. My husband had 3 eggs over medium with two large pieces of liver mush and breakfast potatoes. He loved all of it. read more

Hidden Gem. Great food and customer service. I came in this morning with my cousin for breakfast. Somehow we beat the rush and the food came out unbelievably fast. My cousin ordered steak and eggs, and I had a platter with eggs, cheese, grits, and multiple breakfast meats. I also ordered the banana crêpes. The food was really delicious and the portion size was great. I wasn't crazy over the crepes. They just seemed to be missing something, although the presentation was awesome. Our waitress was Sherry. Stopped in for a late breakfast after an early morning flight from Arkansas into Charlotte and I wanted to get out of Charlotte traffic before stopping! Found this great little diner. As soon as I waked in the door I was met with a welcoming smiling server who made me feel very welcome. She did a great job taking care of me. From getting me seated all the way through to offering me a to go cut for my drink when I was leaving. The diner is decorated with lots of cute, little signs and quotes that make it feel quite homely. They have a sign with their Daily Specials with lots of good choices. I have to say everything appeared to be very clean and tables were bussed and cleared off very quickly after diners left following their meals. When it comes to the food. I have to say, it was pretty darn good. Everything was fresh, tasty, good size portions and cooked perfectly. If I am ever back in the area I will certainly stop in here again! read more

Sunshine is a good, unassuming spot to grab breakfast or lunch. The menu has all of the standard breakfast items and a few that aren't so standard including a few that are Mexican inspired. Upon arrival there was a 20 minute wait. It was worth it. They made a pretty good first impression. The service was terrific. Our server was on top of everything our entire meal. She kept our glasses filled and accommodated our every need. Our food came out promptly and everything was hot. My French toast was good. Everything else was ordinary breakfast fare but it was good. I called my order in and had to tell the guy that answered the phone what I wanted 3 times. He was nice but he seemed to struggle with English. I know very little Spanish so we both struggled to understand the other. When I picked up my order...it was wrong. I ordered a large order of rice and gravy....had a small on. As he was exchanging the rice I looked to make sure I had 2 sandwiches...i could see bacon and egg. I , like a dummy assumed it was correct.....It wasn't. I ordered 2 bacon and egg with cheese, tomato and tomato on a toasted bun. I got 2 bacon, egg and cheese on cold buns. Live to far to take it back. The place was very busy and everyone was working hard to take care of customers. The bottom line is DO NOT HAVE SOMEONE TAKING ORDERS THAT CANT SPEAK ENGLISH. This hidden gem has been under our nose for 17 years and we finally made our way there. Its exterior and even interior is not flashy. It's just a diner (clean) that serves straight forward food. Although I will say we saw some other breakfasts items pass our table that were very pretty. Crepes with fruit. And a steak omelet that could have fed a family of four. But we just got basics today and they were very good. I took one star away because my eggs were just okay. Not bad at all. I just have perfected fully cooked, fluff eggs at home and expect a place that serves breakfast to be able to create the same. But the pancakes, French toast and biscuit were all very yummy. Traveled from Cary to Kannapolis on Amtrak train early in the morning of 3/7/25 to have a business meeting with a local person and he drove me to Sunshine. We had perfectly-cooked, quickly-prepared, and mouth-wateringly delicious breakfasts! What a great start to the day! I admit we stayed much longer than it took us to eat, but we got our business done there, and the friendly staff even brought more coffee and tea for us. It was a typical diner feel but the service beat out most of the local places we have been to. We both happened to order the exact same thing down to rye toast and hashbrowns on the side. It's a typical order for me but I was glad for this plate cause it came with extra meats. It comes with bacon, country ham, and smoked sausage. Typically, I am very understanding of customer service factors. Especially, during the holidays. However, my husband and I went to this establishment on today for breakfast. They were busy and we waited to be seated (which is fine). We were seated about 15-20 minutes after we arrived. Our waitress (Jenny) came to our table about 5-7 minutes after we were seated. She took our drink and food order. This would be the last time we saw her. After 35-45 minutes, we had not received our food. Other customers that came in after us had received their food and some had eaten and left. I inquired at the register concerning our food because the waitress was MIA (missing in action). After I asked about our food, the food was brought to our table...... COLD!!! I immediately asked for the manager. I Informed them that the server had not been to our table but one time and why was our food cold. Really no logical explanation. I informed them that I was very unhappy with the service and would let others know of my experience. We left without eating. The waitress returned to the table and just seemed as if she didn't care. The waitstaff was super friendly and nice.
