When I recently visited this location while escorting a few work visitors from overseas, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of both food and service. It's been years since my last time in a Showmars and I kinda regretted not getting back sooner. They still have the Southern fried favorites including shrimp, fish, and French fries. Coleslaw and hushpuppies complete such a Carolina meal. Then they offset that with Greek fare. I snagged a veggie gyro with lamb meat added on. No sides and this left me feeling plenty full. The restaurant was spotless clean, and the staff was friendly and patient with the language barrier of my guests. There was even an older lady who frequently checked on us for refills and cleared our empty plates. A wonderful representation of true Southern hospitality. I ordered delivery on Friday night around 7pm. It was ready at 7:03 based on the receipt. The order wasn't picked up by DoorDash until 8pm and delivered to me at 8:14. Needless to say, it was all cold. Cold fried food does not reheat well. I spent $26 for cold food. I called Showmars to complain and was told that it wasn't their fault and pointed me to DoorDash. I didn't order from DoorDash, I ordered from Showmars and I feel cheated and unappreciated. So sad to have to share this. I do not recommend ordering for delivery. read more

My go-to is always the cheeseburger on pita but I also love their Greek selections. For some reason food tastes better on warm pita bread. Well, at least to me. The grilled chicken chef salad had raw chicken on it. I called to let them know how dangerous this was and could be fatal for someone 93. First very apologetic and offered to refund my card. Provided photo of the receipt and the raw chicken on top of the salad. Received a phone call/voicemail later saying I would have to come back in for a refund. Love Showmars!! I honestly don't know why I don't go more often. The food is always hot and tastes very fresh. I appreciate that I can get healthy-ish options there. For example, instead of French fries, I can substitute grilled zucchini and squash at no additional cost. There are plenty of options for the pescatarian and gluten-free members of my family. They have a great rewards program that quickly lets you earn credits toward free items. On this particular trip, I used my $5 birthday reward on a popcorn shrimp mini meal. Although the name has mini in it, don't be confused. It is a good-sized portion that usually lasts me 2 meals. Pro-tip: There is a drive-thru but it is only for people who have already placed their orders online or over the phone. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since I saw one pop up years ago.  Yet,  I never went until now. What was I thinking? There is a reason you always see people going in and out of this place... the food is good! Even though it's a chain, (I'm not big on chains) it feels like a local place.  The staff was friendly and you could tell they really want to help.  They also seemed to remember or simply know a lot of people. Now, I love salmon. Yet, I've never recieved good salmon from a fast casual place.  I won't say fast food because you could tell they started cooking as soon as I placed the order. The wait was not too long and it was worth it. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the had tater tots on the menu. I know it's not your usually combination,  but it made me happy.  I was also able to get a side salad which was nice especially for the price. I'm not a native of the Charlotte area, so I was pretty excited about my first visit to Showmars. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would go back. The menu is pretty simple, casual food. I ordered a Turkey burger with a side of fruit. Can't really go wrong there. My food tasted great and was ready in a very reasonable amount of time. Also, the person taking our order was very friendly and patient. The restaurant was clean. Even though they were short staffed, I saw someone go around fairly regularly to wipe the tables and seats. The bathroom was also pretty clean. The location is great. We were able to do some nice shopping in the area before going to eat. The parking lot is spacious but could use a little cleaning. read more

I am a transplant to the south so I wasn't familiar with this establishment. I know that it is a Southern staple. There isn't a lot to say about Shomars that most locals don't already know, so herein lies my experiences. First - You best be prepared for a serious wait. Consider yourself more fortune than I have ever been if you place your order in less than ten minutes. The line can extend out of the door! That will be a 20 minute wait before you even place your order. Then expect an additional wait time of at least 15 minutes or more for your order to arrive to your table. So, if you like lukewarm food... Bon appetite! Second - It is important to note that both tables to eat in as well as parking can be scarce. I know it may have a drive through, but this isn't a fast food restaurant. There is a drive through, but don't try to be slick. The drive through is strictly for online orders [only]. Don't go through there expecting to avoid the long wait. The sign makes it clear that the drive through is for patrons who have previously ordered. So don't even think of that option. Also the pricing isn't comparable to traditional fast food. For example it costs $3.99 for a tiny shake! But unlike fast food, your food is made fresh to order. There are healthier options and fresh sides and I appreciate that. The fresh corn and black bean salad feels like a better option than some starchy side. I have ordered it both times I have been there. Third - Finally, the menu is eclectic. It has Greek inspired dishes like Gyros as well as southern, fried flounder. The food isn't seasoned like Greek food, and the portions are much smaller than the large Greek servings I am used to. Now, to end on a positive note and give credit where credit is due, their Baklava Cheesecake is different in a very good way. Truly it is the best of both worlds. After a much anticipated wait this location of Showmar"s had finally opened. I'm not the only one happy to see it open. There was a long line leading up to both of the registers. The line moved relatively quickly and it was time to order before we knew it. We were familiar with the menu from having eaten at other locations and it was practically the same. I ordered a fish sandwich and my wife got a grilled chicken pita. After ordering you are given a number and your food is delivered to the table. Our food came out promptly and our order was correct. The server was polite in spite of being very busy. Being a brand new building, everything was obviously clean. They didn't have their health department issued sanitation grade posted at the register. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and it was well maintained and tidy. I can't wait to return and enjoy the convenience of having a location this close to my house. read more

New location! Yeah! People seem to be just as excited for them as I am. The line was going out the door the entire time I was there but their crew that's managing the cash registers and taking orders are fast and informative if you need them to be. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered a a solo Gyro and sweet tea. They might be a Greek based restaurant but their tea has always been good. They use little crushed ice balls in their drinks so it's fun to drink without a straw. My Gyro I ordered without onions, and that's what I got. The meat and yogurt sause are a proper marriage of spice and tangy pizazz. Wrap that in a fresh pita and you've got a pretty awesome lunch. They bring your food to the table after you order. We might have been in line longer than it took for our fresh and hot food to get there. It took less than ten minutes. We also had at least 4 different people fill our drinks. As a Charlotte native, that lived away from the city for over a decade, it is an absolute treat to live near enough to a Showmars for frequent visits! The menu had changed some since I starting eating here, but the changes are modern and still have some of that original Greek flair. My favorite things at Showmars: The fish sandwich, Calabash shrimp dinner and the Chicken Santorini! The tarter sauce is a WIN! I'd buy it bottled if I could! "Everybody Loves Showmars, and it Shows!" Thats the catchphrase they use on their commercials, and from the look of the massive line walking into this new location I'm not the only one who agrees. I know a new restaurant is supposed to be clean but first thing I noticed walking in (after the line) is that this place was immaculate. I think they had only been open two days by the time we visited but it looked like they just opened the doors for the first time. The white and grey color scheme, as well as all the natural light, really gave this place a bright feel to it. The menu was displayed in all its glory on the wall behind the counter, but I've been to many a Showmars in my day and I knew just what I wanted. Gyro Pita with Hushpuppies and a Sweet Tea. That combination may seem a bit odd if you've never been to a Showmars, but it's exactly the kind of order you can only get here. The food is a unique combination of Greek and American dishes with a bit of Southern flair for good measure. Regardless of what you think of their business model the food is damn good. The gyro meat itself was hot and tender with crisp edges and so juicy it was dripping when you bit into it. The pita that enveloped it was fluffy inside but toasted just enough outside to give it texture. (You can tell they used butter when they put it on the flat top.) The hushpuppies were just as good as I've come to expect from other locations. I stand by the fact that a fresh batch of Showmars hushpuppies are some of the best you will ever have, Charlotte area or otherwise. Sweet Tea was good too, not over brewed. Just sweet enough to bring out the flavor, not give you an insulin emergency. I also want to mention our waitress who's name I unfortunately didn't catch. I don't know if she was just trying to impress because it was opening week but our service was wonderful. Drinks were never empty, had no problem bringing out some extra napkins when asked and had a smile the whole time. (Our food came out quickly too, though I suppose thanks go to the kitchen there.) The staff here seems to have done a good job with training their starting crew. I really have nothing but good things to say about this place. This is the only Showmars in the Concord/Kannapolis area and I'm happy they've added a wonderful new location to that neck of the woods. read more

I was excited to find out a new Showmars restaurant opened near my route home from work so I had to try it out. I was disappointed that they did not have my favorite tenderloin tip dinner that has been available at their other locations. My happiness returned when my Gyro platter with a Greek salad was brought to my table. The Greek salad was very tasty and as hard as I tried I could not finish all of my French fries after eating the Gyro. This new restaurant that opened Monday has nice TV's and the one near me was turned to a soccer game. The booth was very comfortable and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. One of staff told me her favorite menu item was the chili pita burger. I came in hungry and left full, but now drooling for my next visit to try a chili pita burger. read more

This is my second time at this Showmars and they are consistent on one thing...BEING SLOW. They let the slowest people run the cash register and the line gets out of the door. If you seat outside the waiter will ignore you so beware. The food is fine aside from the onion rings that lack flavor. They totally pulled it off. Still a great place to eat in this crazy upside down world. My wife and I went to a charlotte location, which had no dine in at all. Some other locations online, all said closed early (Due to staffing issues I assume. Like I said, crazy upside down world). I was getting cranky, and really craving a Showmars fish sandwich, so we headed to Kannapolis since we needed to hit Target as well. There was a sign, no dine-in due to staffing shortage, but there was outdoor seating, yay! I was doubtful, with mostly very young faces behind the counter, but we ordered anyway. The young man that took our order was very polite and professional. Everyone seemed upbeat, even though it was close to closing time and fairly busy. The food came quickly, and we grabbed a table outside. One bite of the crunchy fish sandwich drove my cranky away, so they made my wife happy as well. I did not see one cranky customer in the whole place. It's tough for many businesses these days, and it was so nice to see these folks perform well and keep the wheels turning. I think anyone who can keep their jobs in this weird market is unafraid of hard work, and will probably do well in the future. Support them and be nice. read more

Just had the worst gyro pita ever at Showmars. The pita bread was so hard I could barely bit through the sandwich. It was so bad that I gave up and just got a fork and ate the meat and veggies. My husband's spicy fish sandwich was good but recommend staying away from the pita sandwiches. read more

I have been a big fan of Showmars for a long time so very excited we have one now in Kannapolis, NC. I've ordered delivery via DoorDash already as well as picked up a takeout order. Here's my evaluation so far: * Ordered the fish sandwich which was so good! But I have to say the online description leaves you wondering what's on it other than the fish and the bun. It's basically the fish, the bun and a little bit of tartar sauce. So, if you want slaw (like me) and more tartar sauce (like me), then get the slaw as a side and request tartar sauce. Mr. C's fish sandwich is far superior. * Ordered Mediterranean pasta salad as a side which was delicious but $2.69 for a side???? Way overpriced. * Ordered flounder and shrimp and it was really good. But again, the sides are way overpriced. Again, I would have to say Mr. C's can deliver this entree much better. * Lastly, ordered Gyro pita today and I was very disappointed. It was so dry and had very few tomatoes or onions and the tzatziki was not on the sandwich but on the side. The meat was just dry as a bone and with hardly any other items in there, it was a real disappointment. Go to Gateway to Athens....so much better. My overall opinion is that I think I remembered Showmars as so much better or perhaps it's just this location, but I've given it a good try and just disappointed. read more

Orders from Doordash keeps getting refunded to my account. Doordash rep says it was pro-actively canceled by the restaurant. This happens a lot with Showmars and it is very inconvenient for me because the money is not available back into my bank account until about a week. Very displeased! read more

This is probably my best experience at a showmars restaurant thus far. The restaurant was super clean, fully staffed, and the food was fresh. Even though it is a seat yourself fast food place , they had staff coming by to the tables. Giving refills , asking if everything was tasting okay , and asking if we needed any extra sauces etc; Even though I'll be on the toilet for hours on end from the amount of carbs it will be worth it for the great customer service read more
