K Asian Bistro restaurant serves mostly Japanese foods and some Thai and Chinese foods. My husband and I have eaten meals here for several years. Both dining in and takeout are available. The employees kindly speak with us, and they promptly seat us, take our orders, and bring our beverages and foods. In my past reviews, I rated the tuna tartar trio, salmon martini starter, Thai-style rangoon, chicken hibachi, and salmon hibachi as 5 stars each, and I rated the hibachi steak bento box with a spring roll as 4.5 stars and the chicken hibachi bento box with pork gyoza as 4 stars. For our most recent visit, here are my ratings for what we ate: Sushi and Sashimi for 2 - 5 stars - This gorgeous sushi boat contained 10 pieces of chef's choice sushi, 18 pieces of chef's choice sashimi, and 2 rolls--Dragon Roll (eel, cucumber, and avocado) and Volcano Roll (batter-fried mixed fish and avocado with house-special sauce and tobiko/roe). They all tasted delicious. Hibachi Steak - 5 stars - The steak was juicy and flavorful, and it came with fried rice, soup, salad, and two pieces of shrimp. Pad Thai - 5 stars - The rice noodles were cooked well, and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce and my choice of protein of chicken. read more

Well well...Allison Park's got some great Asian food up that way with K Asian. Got the lunch special Bento box, but let's start with the salad and soup. The ginger dressing was very light and zesty and not so much peanut-flavored like you typically get. The miso soup was very rich and savory. As for the entrée, the Bento box had the red curry chicken with vegetables, spring roll with plum sauce, rice, and some sushi. Everything in the box was fresh, quality ingredients. I especially liked the crispy spring roll (not greasy and had great flavor). The sushi didn't miss either. For the red curry, was milder than I was expecting and would have liked a little more pepper spice to it. But it was still pretty good. The hot tea I ordered didn't taste like typical hot tea; something almost earthy and nutty about it, but it was delicious. The people working at the restaurant were gracious and speedy with the service (it's a family business which is always good to see). I'd love to come again next time I'm up here and try more sushi dishes. Great place! read more

I randomly pulled into this parking lot to search Yelp for lunch. Luckily, I was already here. I had a Spider Roll and a Sushi Pizza. The roll was perfect. Fresh, tasty and not greasy. We ordered delivery on a Saturday night, supposed to take 55 minutes. It ended up being almost two hours before it was dropped off. That wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't screw up our food. More than half of our food was missing. We also received part of someone else's order, which was very disappointing after waiting for two hours. The sushi itself was okay but very overpriced. The crab rangoons arrived cold. A very mediocre experience at a high price. Not sure we'll be ordering here again. read more

I got takeout from here and I thought the food was ok, but not great. I got a chirashi, Thai chicken curry, and 3 sushi rolls. They messed up one of my sushi rolls. So that wasn't great. The other items were fine, but again, just pretty average. Lunch specials are around $15. The restaurant is in a strip mall. So plenty of parking available. read more

We shared these two dishes between 3 people, and it was just enough for us. The sushi and sashimi were very fresh and high quality. If you want an individual plate, I recommend getting the Chirashi, but it was also nice to have some sushi rolls with the platter (volcano and dragon roll). Nigiri was alright. There was just a lot of rice. My family did takeout from here, but I think it is better to sit at the restaurant. I'm sure it is the same portion, but it just looks like there's more because of the more aesthetic plating. read more

Happily surprised that there's great food in the gibsonia area! Highly recommend the lunch bento box. $13 and was stuffed afterwards. Sashimi was excellent for the price. We have always loved this place, even before this public health crisis, but we love it even more now because they take a ton of health precautions. It's takeout service only, one customer inside at a time with social distanced waiting outside. Inside there's a window and it's only open and shut for payment and food delivery. Got chicken hibachi and my husband got the steak. We liked the steak but the chicken meat was questionable and poor quality. Almost seemed like it was a spongy texture in some pieces and some seemed to still have fat and skin on it. I prefer chicken breast. read more

The sushi selection is pretty good. Certainly above average form Pittsburgh. The staff is always pleasant when I'm there. But here's my problem... they are SLOW. My last order was a take out order. I was told 35 minutes. Now from experience I know they are always a little slow, so I just assume add 5-10 minutes to whatever time they promised. But this last time, I waited an extra 30 minutes on top of that. So about 75 minutes for what was committed as 35 minutes. You guys need to figure out your staffing or queuing situation. It makes for an absolutely terrible experience for what otherwise should be a really nice meal. read more

I love sushi and It can be hard to find good sushi in the suburbs and this place is great! The sushi is fresh and tasty and the regular menu is great too! They have really good prices for their sushi and service is usually pretty quick. They do get really busy in the weekends so order earlier than you think you want to eat if you do pick up. read more

We finally got around to trying this place. I had bookmarked it based on some pretty stellar reviews and was excited to check out their fusion sushi rolls. The place was pretty crowded for a chilly Sunday night and we were seated right away. We had no idea it was BYOB but quickly changed up our sake mindset to hot tea instead. The tea had a really nice sesame flavor. For dinner, we ordered up some King Salmon Sushi pieces and three rolls - a rainbow, an iron chef, and a paradise. They were all pretty tasty but were cut into HUGE pieces that made it ridiculously impossible to eat in one bite or try and gracefully take half a bite using chop sticks. Comical but sort of a put off because you want the full flavor of the components of the roll and not piecemeal bits and bites. Our favorite was the rainbow roll. The King Salmon was really terrific! Try that for sure. We may go back another time but, honestly, it didn't blow our doors off. The service was fine but not very helpful. We asked what the special rolls were and were told they are always they same, Ocean and some other roll name she rattled off and then scurried away. Maybe she could have sold us more on what the rolls were or what she would recommend. That would have been a better approach. Give it a try. Maybe it was just an off night. read more

Looong wait, which for good food is not a problem. Unfortunately the Red Curry Chicken was very bland and the chicken was quite firm, tough. It really wasn't like a traditional Thai Curry at all- the sauce was almost clear. The Thai style Fried rice with with chicken had minimal chicken and was also very bland . Menu has Appetizers and "Fusion Dishes;" one would assume that a dish is a plate or meal, if you will. $15 bucks later, the Pink Pearl is a tiny appetizer. I asked the server. She said "fusion" means appetizer. I asked why it wasn't listed under apps... again she kept saying that fusion means appetizer. Ok. Im done here. After 10 years of patronage NEVER AGAIN. I think this is a pretty overrated sushi spot. It's not terrible, but not great for takeout. If you come here, I suggest you do dine in. I got the unagi don, tamago, flying fish roe sushi, miso soup, and shumai. The unagi don was pretty tough, which is odd for eel. The skin was more than half of the fish as well. Portion was fair but not large. More rice than fish. The sushi was not very tasty. The ginger was very overpowering so I could not really taste the rice or sushi toppings. Not very pleasant. Also, one of the sushi orders was not there when I picked up my order (I did not get the flying fish roe). I think the sushi would be tastier if you dined in since you could separate the ginger and wasabi from the sushi. Miso soup was only okay, nothing that really piqued my interest. Shumai was very small and did not have much flavor. Overall, I might come back, since it's pretty highly rated and I only tried takeout. Would not recommend for pickup orders. read more

My husband and I had just worked a 12 hour shift together and were trying to find something open for food at 930pm. Not only was this place open until 1030, they didn't roll their eyes when we walked in an hour before close. They were happy to have us and the service was impeccable! Our food order came out fast, hot, and fresh. We were in and out within 40 minutes. We each had miso soup, with me having a spicy tuna roll and a crab spring roll and my husband having pineapple fried rice. I'm so grateful that we got to come here, because we haven't been able to find good rolls outside the city and so close to home.
