This review might be a bit biased since my party and I came on a busy holiday. I'll start by saying that it's not bad if you want variety. But, it isn't the best. The buffet food was ok, they have the typical carbs, noodles and fried rice. Some cooked protein and then there's veggies/sides and desserts. They had decent grill meats/seafood and sliced hot pot meats. The fruit bar needs some work because when we were there Christmas night it was lacking a lot. They didn't refill most of the fruits at all knowing how busy it was. There's also a salad bar. The sushi was average at best. They didn't have many good options. But what they did have was ok I suppose. The service was decent. We had a reservation and when we got here on time for our reservation we were told it might be 30 plus mins. Which was kind of annoying because we HAD a reservation? Lol. It was packed, like out the door packed when we walked in. It just didn't make sense how they didn't have our table ready considering we called 3 days ahead and all. Pretty sure they gave our table away and made us wait for another party to leave. And then my party of 7 had to be split up to 2 dif tables because they didn't have a table big enough to seat all of us together too. And it wasn't across or beside from one another. We were literally seated across the restaurant from one another. So that was a bummer not being able to enjoy a holiday dinner together. Our waiter wasn't bad but he wasn't good. Our drinks were empty two times and had to asked for refills every time. Our soup broth wasn't refilled either until we asked. Same with our grill. Always having to call and waive someone down. Just feels like they were not attentive at all. I get it was a holiday and it was busy but I feel like they weren't prepared for it at all. Or everyone just looks busy but is doing nothing seems like. Overall, like I stated in the beginning, if you want variety this place is ok. The place is huge with lots of seating, but the service leaves much to be desired. It took them almost half an hour to bring us our soup for the hotpot (keeping in mind we are allotted 1.5h to eat). I also do feel like they treat non-asian guests a bit better and were more attentive. It took a while to even be able to flag down someone to help us. Came here for dinner, recommend going in even number. They cannot accommodate odd number at the same table sitting. Service is a little lacking, not very attentive and inconsistent. There were tables where drinks were served in glass while our table was served in a to-go drink cups, plastic cup and yet laughable paper straws. Makes absolutely no sense, paper straws Food selection: a lot of food, bbq, hot pot, sushi, and pre-cooked. Many choices to select, bring an empty stomach to eat. Price is decent for buffet style to include everything from hot pot, bbq, and sushi. Will return but probably only for special celebration, can't afford $38 + tax and tips every week. read more

I came here with my family three weeks ago and I left with food poisoning almost immediately. I am still having the worst cramps and upset stomache till this day. I had the worst fever slept the entire day the day after and ever since whatever I ate, my stomache killed me. I don't know what's going on with the food quality but I guess you should never eat raw stuff from buffets. read more

Went with a party of 7 for dinner. Waited about 30 mins. The table we were seated at only had 5 pots so some of us had to share. That being said, I would recommend going with a smaller group, 4 or less. The table was also pretty crowded, not much room for all our plates along with the hot pot and cooking on the grill, but we were just happy to eat. For an AYCE, the food is pretty good and there's a great variety. The set up is self serve buffet style. Good selection of sauces at the sauce station. There is a section for the raw food, hot food, sushi, and ice cream for dessert. For buffet style sushi, it's pretty good (and I love sushi). I tend to dislike AYCE KBBQ because the quality isn't always up to par for my liking, but the meats here are pretty decent too. It's almost overwhelming to eat KBBQ, hot pot, sushi, and hot food buffet all in one but it gives good variety for different palates. All the food was well stocked and looked fresh. The staff was pretty diligent with changing the grill out throughout our meal, more so than other AYCE KBBQ places I've been to. Lots of parking spots in the back, although there were many cars there. We had no trouble finding parking. Overall would come here again just with a smaller group. Horrible experience every-time, you ask why we go? Because of value, but it's dirty, loud and the hosts are not very friendly. Long long wait times at anytime. They are constantly hosting school parties/large birthdays. Etc. I guess people come here for the value. An absolutely wonderful AYCE restaurant! We came on a Sunday and paid about $36.99 per person for AYCE Hot Pot + BBQ (sushi and hot buffet included; drinks NOT included). The selection for everything was mind blowing and honestly I felt a bit overwhelmed and overstimulated with all the options but our server was very attentive and sweet, and made sure to explain everything to us as a first time customer. We rarely find a trifecta of Hot Pot, BBQ and Sushi AYCE so this was a wonderful addition to our list of faves! Will definitely be coming back here! read more

Came for a special lunch for my daughter's bday. Be warned this place is popular and we had to wait 90 mins for a table after being told it would be an hour. I think everyone tries to get the lunch price. It was worth it. The selection was full of seafood and various meats. A few precooked dumplings, noodles, rice etc. my husband liked the ribs. I did a little of everything and enjoyed the experience. It's unique to have hot pot and bbq and sushi/other Asian foods in one place. Even with a line of people waiting to eat and it being between lunch/dinner they never ran out of food. Everything was well stocked. The servers work hard here - tip them well. Constantly cleaning up plates, bringing drinks, bringing fresh grill, etc. Our server even flipped my shrimp when I wasn't paying attention. I've passed by this place several times and was weary about it. My wife wanted some kbbq and sushi and this fit the bill had good reviews so we went. Right off the bat I can tell this was not a kbbq or a Korean establishment which is misleading because the name of the place denotes it is K(orean) City BBQ. Against my better judgment I gave it a go. Surprisingly their sushi was decent. What most Americans do not know is majority of the crappy sushi places in ny are run by Chinese (usually rice is overcooked and flavorless and they scrimp on the filling). Korean sushi places are better because due to the Japanese occupation of Korea, we have a longer history with sushi. Japanese owned sushi places are tough to come by because they are few. Having said that the Chinese food was meh. The prepackaged stuff was mid but the cooked stuff was flavorless. Orange chicken was bland, beef with broccoli was a miss not enough oyster sauce. Most of the Chinese food was cold. We didn't try the hotpot. So now with the kbbq...at first the marinated meat smelled promising. As I was grilling it I noticed a lot of missteps. First off the grills were not charcoal and probably not gas/propane. When they changed the grill I believe it was electric. Meat took a while to cook. Just tried the marinated beef short ribs and it was enough for me to know they can try but they cheaped out. The marinade was off because they watered down the marinade so it smelled right but the flavor wasn't there. Watered down was the theme of the day. The ssam jjang/daeng jjang was also water down and spiked with extra salt and probably msg. They had labeled another sauce as Korean spicy sauce and it wasn't choi gochujjang (gochujjang, sugar, garlic, vinegar), they put out Thai sweet and chili saice (probably watered down too). The place was clean which was a surprise. We were weirded out because the waiter ogled my wife when she spilled water on her shirt. I told that guy stop staring and he blushed and mumbled and stumbled his way through an apology. On the way out I asked the front of the house what does the "K" stand for in their name, they said Korean. I told them in Korean that's a load of crap. I wrote this review five hours after we ate because my wife and I fell asleep most likely because they seasoned most of their food with plenty of yum yum sauce (msg). We don't feel good and won't go back again. Sorry I didn't take pictures but I didn't want to waste the memory on my phone. For all those who gave it a great review, you don't know Korean food let alone good Korean bbq. read more

I am Italian and It is true that ethnic food in America is never as good as back in the original country for those of us who experienced it. But, considering the cost of eating the same crap in America, KC BBQ is worth every penny for what it offers and if your smart you will realize this when you recognize some of the prize selections offered here. Horrible service!!! Food was ok. The table we were sitting at was very bland and was very far from the buffet. The ambience was boring. The person who served us named Stephen was very rude when we were paying the bill he was very mad and cussed me out and kicked us out when i gave him a 5 dollar tip when i only paid 25 dollars for the food. He complained about how hard it is working there and was racist only bullying me and forcing me to give an increased tip instead of everyone else at the table. So here is an update, but this time we did lunch. We went on a Thursday but the kids were off of school that day. We got there at approximately 1:15 and it was a 30 to 45 minute wait. We were told that it's normally not that busy and we wouldn't normally have to wait but they were crowded because the kids were off. Anyways, the first thing I looked for was the quality of food. The good news is that the food was the same and of the same quality as it was during dinner. Again, the service and food was excellent. It was crowded to be honest but it's to be expected given how good the restaurant is. On a side note, I noticed the price of lunch went up a little. Given the quality of food offered, I say it's still reasonable. One little wrinkle to be aware of was when we got the bill, they had charged us dinner prices. I told the server and she immediately corrected it and apologized. Nothing major, but I do not know if it was an accident OR was it on purpose? I will cast no aspersions but my advice to anyone going that is if you're going for lunch, ensure your bill reflects lunch prices. I will also add, that drinks are not included in the price of the meal. Sodas are free refills however. Anyways, if you want to save a little money (For 4 people being two adults and two children) we saved approximately $40 going to lunch) If they keep up the quality of food and service, this place will remain busy. read more
