Hibachi

Food is delicious. Never had an issue. We always get hibachi table. Soup and salad are good. Chicken/steak/shrimp very flavorful. Rice and noodles too! Portions are good. Service is good. The people at the front are very friendly. The waitresses and chef are nice and available. The chef is very funny. Makes the dining experience worth it. The place is nice decorated and clean.

Located on S Oyster Bay Road. Sharing parking spaces with lots of other establishments. So parking is plentiful. Super chill romantic date type or causal dining. Can come dressed in yoga pants and hoody if you prefer. I enjoyed my lobster bite appetizer. Literally it's a one bite appetizer. But delish nonetheless 10/10 Chicken karaage appetizer was juicy and steaming hot. 9/10 My sushi & sashimi omakase for 1... I only remembered the creamy Toro sashimi and the tuna sushi. They were chefs kisses. Ok so I came on a very busy Saturday night and I was thirsty af since coming from the gym and hot yoga. I drank 3 cups of water. But everytime I needed a refill on my water I had to hail someone down. As I literally did sit there patiently waiting for my waitress to stop by to check up on us. I would def dine in again tho!

Always an enjoyable trip. Their hibachi egg noodles (9/10) never fail my kids; their pomegranate- tini and lychee tini are my staple drinks there. We tried the seafood trio (9/10) for the first time and I have to say albeit the pricey cost - it was well worth it - the scallops and seasoning were on point. Service is always great and consistent.

If you remember Benihana; you know what to expect here. This weekend, there seemed to be a lot of birthday parties for preteen children. They seem to enjoy the floorshow, the chef puts on. Teppanyaki lunch portions are normal sized, i.e. you can finish them. They have cocktails, wine, and sake. Soft drinks for those under 21. The restaurant has a nice vibe to it.

The food here was great! We came here around 2pm for a weekday lunch, and we got notified that their kitchen was closing soon (since they close at 3 to prepare for dinner), which we didn't know about. But I'm glad that they told us so we weren't confused if we had to order more food later. The inside was decorated very nicely, with high ceilings and light fixtures that made it look elegant and fancy. Our waiter was alright, and the 3 of us ordered the Angry Dragon roll to share, the chicken hibachi, shrimp and chicken hibachi, and the lunch box. The lunch box included 6 ish pieces of California roll, which is a lot in my opinion, miso soup or salad, and an "appetizer" and main selection option. I opted for the salmon teriyaki for my main, but you can also get a roll or spring rolls for your main. I also got the pork gyoza for the "app", but you can get edamame or shrimp shumai as other choices. The lunch box came in a huge bento style container with an abundance of food. Very worth it for the price in my opinion. Everything was very good, except for the salmon teriyaki and vegetables which needed a bit more salt and flavor. The angry dragon roll was delicious, however, and it looked splendid too. The rolls are bigger than most places and it's packed with avocado and tuna. The hibachi lunch portions were also very good. Overall, I would definitely come by if I'm craving sushi and if I'm around the area.

Miko in Plainview NY is a Sushi restaurant. I ordered takeout appetizers. The tempora scrimp with vegetables was delicious. The pork buns were puffy like pita breads rolled over with fatty pork. ( see pix) They do have outdoor seating as well. Note: the edges on the back of these sheets are very sharp and count my jacket.

I'm a little naive or inexperienced when it comes to hibachi. I mean I've been to Benihana a million times, but some might say that's not legit compared to other places that might be a little less chain-y. Enter Miko Sushi & Hibachi which has a much stronger chokehold on the world of cooking right in front of you. For starters, Miko has a lot to offer beyond the hibachi table. Their regular dining area was bustling when I came last month for my buddy's birthday. The place had some nice style to it and felt like a level up from many other establishments of similar cuisine. Even the bathroom sink was unique! But let's leave the lavatory for now and return to what's most important: hibachi action. I'll say that any excitement at Benihana has been nonexistent the last bunch of times I have been there with the chef just going through the motions when cooking and doing all his tricks. At Miko, I couldn't tell if every chef was as enthusiastic as ours, but dang was this guy fun. You could tell he was enjoying throwing food (zucchini pieces) and drink (sake from a squirt bottle) into our mouths, though he also just seemed to be that kind of loving life guy. Perhaps some might have found him a little too over the top (the fake squirt bottle he pretended to shoot in my friend's wife's face seemed to result in mixed reviews), but knowing that hibachi is often a bit of a show, I was all for it. I was also all for their grub which tasted pretty darn delicious. My hibachi combo of filet mignon and chicken was cooked perfectly and the fried rice and veggies on the side were also tasty. The combo came with a choice of soup or salad, though I do like that at Benihana you often get both with your meal. A small downer (that and the regular service was a little slow/forgetful), but everything else was spot on. Overall, Miko is definitely several steps above a place like Benihana (sorry, old friend). It's got the ambiance, the interaction, and the food to make this true. A few small factors kept me away from giving five stars, but I'd gladly return to Plainview (or perhaps the slightly-closer-to-me location in Northport) to see how far this hibachi can go.

Sake flight

I have never been here but was meeting a friend and we decided to try this place. I did not know it had been around for a while. We walked in and were immediately greeted with lively conversations from the groups seated by the bar. There was plenty of seating so we asked for a table further away. It is a fairly large space with an entire section in the back for hibachi. Friend and I ordered the edamame, rock shrimp and a salmon avocado roll to share. We each ordered the sake flight and tri-color sashimi with a bowl of brown rice on the side. The edamame came out piping hot and plentiful. The rock shrimp was larger than I have had at other places. The sake flight had 3 different types of cold sake, ranging from a classic taste to a little fruity. Each tasting was 2 ounces and plenty to enjoy with our meal. The show stopper was the tri-color sashimi. It came out beautifully presented. Each piece of sashimi was bigger and thicker than i have seen elsewhere. Needless to say, i did not finish my meal and brought half of the sashimi home for hubby to try. The only miss was they forgot the salmon avocado roll which was fine because we were full. When we pointed it out, they took it off the bill but I guess it would have been nice if they didn't forget it to begin with. I cannot wait until my daughter is home to go and try this place with her. So disappointed that I hadn't been before!

Their food was really good. I loved their service as they asked me for my allergies and made sure my food was safe for me. The ambiance was nice and a lot of families were there for dinner. The guy who cooked for us was really fun and enthusiastic!! I would come back for the steak next time !

Came here after work on new years eve for dinner and it was amazing! The place was nicely lit, tables, and area was clean. we were greeted immediately by a server and got a delicious drink! For appetizer we got the calamari and edamame. the calamari came with a sweet chili sauce and spicy mayo! both were to die for with the crispy calamari. The edamame was soft and well salted. For dinner I just did a special roll, I think it was the dragon roll, I am not too sure but it consisted to shrimp tempura wrapped in a soy wrapper. Definitely will be coming back here for more!!!! I know that they serve hibachi - I heard them in the other room in the back. Would love to bring my children here too!

Lunch Bento Box, also comes with soup or salad.

When I think of hibachi, I think of Benihana, which I feel is not really authentic Japanese but Americanized food. Kind of like Panda Express for Chinese food. But I trust this friend so we went with them. My wife and my wedding anniversary was coming up so we told them and they prepared a special setting with rose petals and also a special dessert. So nice!! Omakase means to leave it up to the chef on what to eat and the chef's selections were amazing! Lobster, sweet shrimp, Uni, A5 wagyu, fatty tuna and other delicious selections. We also had a sake they recommended, which went so well with the food. The complimentary dessert was probably my favorite. All in all, a great meal. We just had omakase at Inatome recently and if i had to pick the best, I would probably say Inatome but it is very close. Sasa is much easier to get to so if you don't want to drive to Valley Stream, go to Sasa. TIP: make sure you make reservations in advance because they have to procure the seafood for the omakase.

However, the poor service has unfortunately discouraged me from returning. During my last visit, I informed the staff that I was there for a pickup order, provided my name, phone number, and details of my order. Despite that, she was acting like she didn't believe me. I even showed her my phone to confirm and she tried to start scrolling on my phone which is where I drew the line. Not going to support a business that doesn't believe that I placed an order.

We placed an order over the phone to try it out: the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with noodles and no veggies. The kids absolutely loved it! The service was just okay. I stood there for about two minutes before being greeted, even though the staff was right at the front. To be fair, they seemed very busy, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since the food was so good. I want to come back soon to try more dishes! The shop is small but looks very clean.

The place was decorated with red heart balloons everywhere. My daughter loved this and wanted to take one. She wasn't able to, but the really nice sushi chefs did give her kani, which she loved. We started with hot tea, which was delicious. Kumo has a great lunch special. I took advantage of it and got the sushi and sashimi special. It consisted of a tuna roll, 5 pieces of sushi and 10 pieces of sashimi. Was very filling, fresh and delicious. Came with miso soup and salad. I enjoyed the salad, but their miso soup wasn't so great. I did not finish it. My husband also took advantage of the lunch special and ordered the 3 roll combo. He really enjoyed all of his rolls. My daughter had the tatsuta age. She absolutely loved it as it was basically chicken nuggets with panko. She is a huge chicken nugget fan and it's hard to find her things to eat usually at Japanese places as she isn't a fan of teriyaki chicken. Happy to know she likes this as well as Kani now. The only positive thing to say about this place is that their sushi is decent. Someone else ordered the vegetable teriyaki and got 2 pieces of broccoli and a carrot as their vegetables. No pea pods, bok choy, water chestnuts, onions, peppers, string beans etc. Just miserly portions with lots of oil, filler and hardly any protein or vegetables. Also their prices are sky high and their quality scrapes the bottom of the barrel. Never Again!!!
