It's so nice to have a good dim sum place so close to home. The haw gaw and siu mai are really well made - excellent filling and delicate wrappers. The Phoenix claws (stewed chicken feet) were tender and flavorful, yet not oily. The sesame ball, while not hollow enough, were yummy with a toothsome mochi inside. My favorite was the salted egg custard filled bun. I could have used more filling, but the custard was fragrant and held up well to the soft and almost bouncy texture of the bun. The staff there, especially the cart ladies, were the best part. Super fast, nice, with a touch of wit. I love the old school banters with them, even at first meet. The wait staff was also really on point with the plate changes, even during a busy service. I grew up in Flushing tea houses and this was quite reminiscent of them, but without the crazy pushing and crowding. We also ordered the twin lobster special and a beef fried noodle. Both as pretty good - at least nicely flavored and piping hot when it came out. Will definitely return. read more

Came here for dim sum on a Sunday at their peak lunch hour (around 1pm). Overall, all the dim sum was pretty good, including the bolo buns with the sweet yolk filling inside them with a crisp sugary crust on top, the lotus leaf rice, and the bean curd roll. There were about 2 carts that circulated towards us. The flow of how the tables were set up isn't exactly ideal for access. Carts needed to essentially roll inside to our corner and then reverse back out, which meant we only saw the same two carts about 3 times over the course of service. We got many of the dishes at once, primarily because there wasn't too much variety after the first cart came by. By the time the second cart came by, some of the dishes we wanted were already out by then. A few more dim sum options available and increased face time with the carts would have helped boost the rating. It was a typical wait and we were thankful for a few of the chairs put out for customers who needed to wait. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait for a table of 4, but we weren't seated until 40 minutes. Depending on how big your party is, that's what determined how quickly you were seated. The people who worked service and managing the foot traffic was kind and acknowledged that it was a long wait. It was a good choice to have around this plaza and for a party of four, our bill came out to be about $86 pre-tip. If you'd like to save a little bit, it's 5% off with cash. read more

Ok so this place used to be under different management. Maybe on a weekday it is better. We came on a Sunday during lunch time. What transpired was what I'd call chaotic. The food was fine,t not amazing but passes for what other dim sum places offer on Long Island. The spare ribs was a little sparse and fatty. The issue is actually the flow and supervisory of the wait team. A couple of areas for improvement: 1) the waiting system needed improvement for crowd management. Crowdedness is to be expected but managing flow /crowd control could improve the experience. Small things like waiting for the table to clear/be ready to receive before calling a party is an example to not block hallways, improve wait staff ease of movement. 2) team work could be improved. Tasks were not clearly delineated and you can observe staff needing to do everything and being scattered. The same glove used for clearing tables was the same ones delivering new utensils for the table, teapots and food for the table... 3) corridors and table placement seem to be optimized/maximized for number of tables versus comfortable and safe seating. The back door was slippery right outside the kitchen and lots of potentially for slips and falls with the amount of people flow during peak times. Worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood! This place is much better than the last dim sum place that was in this spot. Tried many different dim sum dishes. I would rate them from good to great. Surprisingly the best was shrimp with bacon. Done better than any other place I've tried. Hopefully they don't change the recipe. Five stars! Shu mai were done well. Would be even better with a few more mushrooms inside the filling. Shrimp dumpling could be better. Skin should be more delicate. Customer service was excellent! Kudos to all the waiters, cart ladies and front manager. Everyone was friendly and very helpful! I was trying to pass by a cart to get to the bathroom. A nice cart lady noticed and told me to be very careful because the carts can be very hot. As we were leaving, a waiter and manager, thanked us for coming and hoped we enjoyed the food. We were far too late for the Dim Sum brunch, but just in time for a good Chinese dinner with family. We grabbed a big table for five and spread out to allow room for our five platter supper. Beijing Pork Chops were excellently meaty with a wonderful semi sweet red amber sauce. There were at least a dozen beauties. Beef Fillets in a Hunan-like black bean reduction had great flavor and plenty of onion and green/red pepper slivers sautéed in the bottom the deep plate offering a little vegetable relief. Crisp Fried Salt & Pepper Calamari were a crunchy alternative to the meat and an enjoyable respite from the heat on the other plates. Golden Szechuan style fish in a deep bowl of star peppers, black pepper balls and small red chilis relit the fire on our lips and tongues and reminded that in Chengdu numb is a flavor. Finally, their House Special Fried Rice mixed in whatever was chopped small enough to interact with the freshly steamed and then wokked white rice, was provided to help absorb the hot oil coating our throats and offer a bit of first aid. The house served each of us sweet hot red bean dessert, leaving us with a mild gentle sweetness after all the various intense flavors we had so recently consumed . A very satisfying and worthwhile meal. The kitchen earned a solid reputation this night. Four Exemplary Stars. We'll save the fifth for our exploration of the Garden's actual dim sum. read more

Now under new ownership, we decided to come try it out for lunch. We were out with extended family so we ordered multiple dim sum dishes and it didn't disappoint. There were some dishes that we haven't seen on other menus. The pineapple bun surprisingly was custard filled (we thought it would be plain). There was a sesame ball that had custard and purple yam which I heard was good. The beef rice noodle was minced meat which is the way we like it. Otherwise we were all happy. Service was attentive and efficient. I believe there is a cash discount if you request it. The restaurant is spacious and deep. There is plenty of parking. Worth a try! read more

Went here before with the previous ownership, but came back to try the new place! Dim sum was great, service was pretty good, and everything was really clean! I waited over 40 minutes fot takeout. They said 20 mins. When I asked at 25 mins, the lady said 'not ready'. She sounded aggravated. I kept watching the table for my order. A manager finally brought it after 40 mins. Our order was $60 for shrimp fried rice, 2 noodle soups, 1 order of 4 shui mai. The beef stew had over a cup full of cooked gristle, fat and a big ARTERY. There was little to no meat attached. It looked nothing like the picture. One piece of green on the bottom. No carrots. A few cubes of fatty meat. Mostly noodles and what I could not eat. I live too far to go back there, but I'll never go there again. The soup was very bland and greasy. It tasted like store broth with 5 spice powder. There was no sauce for the shui Mai. They were very dry and almost tasteless. My husband said the fried rice was good, but he took one look at the seafood stew and wouldn't even eat it. It was 4 pieces of something on top of the noodles. That's all. It's usually his favorite at the restaurant 2 doors down. I feel like they overlooked my order then threw whatever in the containers.
