    Popcorn chicken
    Tania T.

If you're looking for this place, just enter Bloomingdale on the first floor and go all the way back; you won't miss it. We ordered the soduk-soduk, crispy seaweed rolls, and popcorn chicken. We ordered via the screen. The soduk-soduk was pretty good; it was served on skewers, topped with sauces, and made for a really good snack. The crispy seaweed rolls were also served as skewers, topped with sauces: These were served really hot! Crispy and delicious. The popcorn chicken was coated in a sweet sauce, and it was a bit dry, so some of the larger pieces were tough to chew. They had bar-type seating, and the food came out rather quickly.

Cute little hidden spot. Great service, a lot of seating. Delicious pork rice bowl, big serving. A lot of food options. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend trying.

    Pork bulgulgi cup bap
    Laura T.

Located at the very end of the Bloomingdale's store and tucked away between some other food stores. There was a nice variety on the menu but I was excited to eat some cup bap once again. Service was fast and my food came out pretty quickly. The food was nice and hot and there was a decent rice to protein ratio. He quickly made my drink when I reminded him that I ordered one. Plenty of seating on each side of the counter.

    Soju and complimentary mussel soup
    Y C.

Great place for late-night cravings, highly recommended! I ordered cold noodles and soju, and they kindly gave me a big bowl of mussel soup to go with the soju. The cold noodles were great. In addition to good food and great service, they also had this orange colored tent outside, which reminded me the ones I saw in K dramas.

    Crab Ramen
    Jen S.

Decided to order the crab ramen thinking it would have pieces of crab in the noodles. I was very surprised to find an entire crab with crab meat. Noodles were perfectly cooked. I've had better broth elsewhere for similar prices. This is a great place to pick up food in a pinch when out for lunch but I don't think I'd order this again over regular ramen or udon noodles.

Rose teokbokki & spam n egg kimbap
    Katie V.

Bestie and I walked around the area to find something quick to snack on and decided to give this place a try. We ordered the Rose Dukpokki, which had some fish cake in it- very tasty. The rice cake had a nice chew to it and pairs really nicely with the sides they gave. Nothing special about the egg n spam kimbap, it really is what it is, but still tasty too. I would definitely come here again to try different food items, ive heard theyre very known for their korean food- especially from their location in buena park

The food was really good and the worker ahjumma was really nice as well! I ordered the kimchi fried rice because I was craving a fried rice that someone else made xD and so I was astonished when I took the first bite because it tasted exactly like how my mom makes it! It's not full of butter here and no overload of gochujang too. As for the jjajangmyeon, the noodles were a little hard for me personally but it was still good! It's in the food court of south coast plaza so seating is limited and is very busy in there.

    24. Popcorn, chicken tteokbokki
    LeAnn F.

This was one of the cheapest option in the collage culinary experience which is attached to the south coast mall in Costa Mesa which the entrance is by Bloomingdale's. The staff took about 15 mins for them to make the food. Theres counter seating. I got the 24. Popcorn, chicken tteokbokki. It was $9.99. It wasn't spicy at all. The miso soup tasted more salty and soy sauce.

This is one of the only cheap options in the rich person mall that is south coast plaza, but it's still more expensive than it needs to be. What you're paying for are the cute little sides they give, but I think many Korean restaurants can give you the same general meal for 2/3 the price (this place averages around $20 for a filling meal) That being said, the food is still plenty good and tasty. The sides are nice and the mini soup is a great addition. The servers are nice, but the food is kind of slow to come out even when I'm the only one waiting for my food. I guess it's cooked to order which you can consider a pro or a con. The atmosphere is good, what you'd expect of a rich people mall.

Korean Chicken Wings - Soy (TikTok: @justandyvu)

    1. The wings were delicious and fried well! The drink was also refreshing! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes as it just located in a food hall inside Bloomingdale's! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with my order! The wings took about 15-20 mins! 4. Parking is plenty! Note: There are only counter seatings! Photo: Korean Chicken Wings - Soy and Mango Ade

Complimentary soup & banchan; Sausage & rice skewer.
    Helen D.

Our order was simple and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You walk up to the register to place your order and then find a seat at the counter which surrounds the restaurant/kitchen. Customer service was great. Looking forward to going back to try other items. Bimbimbab with beef: excellent, nice size portion Jjajang myeon: delicious, tasted just like my mom's Sausage and rice cake skewer: tasty You also get complimentary soup & banchan (kim chee, cream corn, pickled turnip) This is located on the lower level in Bloomindales in the South Coast Plaza. It's a mini food hall with a variety of asian offerings.

    Soduk-Soduk Skewer (Sausage & Ricecake)
    Harrison T.

Decided to check out the new spot at the Collage food hall at South Coast and it was delicious. K Soul Food recently opened and serves all types of Korean street food from skewers to rice dishes and noodle dishes! I went for their spicy noodles and got their soduk-soduk skewer! Everything came out in about 10 minutes as they make everything fresh to order here. Service was quick and friendly and the cashier was helpful with any questions I had. The ambience was casual and there's only countertop seating here and no tables! I will say prices are on the high side for the amount of food you get but everything I ate was quite tasty especially the skewer and the cold noodles had a good kick while having that great chew! I just feel that paying $5.50 for one skewer is a bit on the pricey side and it should be like $1-$1.50 cheaper! Overall, I had a good experience and the food was good! I still recommend checking out this spot if you want something different from the other restaurants and tenants at Collage even if it is on the pricer side!

Graving for Korean food when shopping in South Coast Plaza? I found a spot, follow me. Highlights of the menu: 1. Soy carabonara teokkbokki 2. Seafood stir fried udon 3. Soup & banchan (kimchi, corn, fish cake) 4. Jjajang myeon 5. Mango ade Quick service and casual ambiance. Cannot find a more convenient spot than this!

For someone that has tried it, is the Japchae or JjaJjangmyun worth the $17 price tag?

I had the jjajjangmyun. It's tasty, but it's a lot of noodles and less protein/veggies. It will most definitely make you full, and it's not very bad tasting, but I personally thought it was mediocre and not worth the price in terms of ingredients… Read more

It's clear why they've been a local staple for 11 years this is the original location, and you can really taste the legacy in every dish. We learned that the menu features the favorite recipes of the owner's husband (you'll see his photo on the wall!), and there's a real sense of heart put into the cooking. Everything we ordered was served piping hot and clearly made-to-order. The Menu Highlights: Starters: The fried pickles are a must-order huge, crispy, and battered to perfection. The cornbread muffins with honey butter are a great comfort touch. Mains: My husband went for the smothered pork chop meal with black-eyed peas, which were deeply flavorful and 'soulful' in the best way. My son loved the generous portion of chicken tenders, and my hot wings were a standout the mild sauce is honestly some of the best I've ever tasted. The Surprise Star: I'm still thinking about the garlic fries. They were unapologetically, perfectly garlicky. The Experience: Beyond the food, the service here is top-tier. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, from the person who took our order to our server, who shared the history of the restaurant with us. The space is surprisingly roomy with both comfortable indoor and outdoor options. We'll definitely be back!

I'm someone that loves eating alone and a Sunday By Myself brunch hit the spot. I ordered a Bellini and the deviled eggs to start. My waitress carded me. That was fun. I thought that at 53 years those days were over. Anyway, kudos to her for doing her job well. The eggs were sitting on top of pickle slices. That was a nice touch. I love how full they were with mixture and the crispy bacon and onions all made the combo a hit. Perfect with the Bellini! Then I moved on to the Greek yogurt. It was pre sweetened with maybe vanilla. I guess I liked that. Normally the yogurt at these restaurants is unsweetened and that can be a shock with each bite. It came with lots of bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Also hazelnuts and granola. The they threw in a blueberry muffin. Wow! That was a lot of food. I washed that down with a latte. I gave the restaurant only 4 stars because I asked for the scrambled egg with no salt. The waitress called it pup eggs which is not advertised on the menu. No dog food was advertised. I saw the side of an egg for $2.50 so I decided to give it a try. The thing I didn't like is that on the bill it was $5.00. I don't like things like that. Just charge for the food and don't up charge because you've given it a cute name. Just wasn't necessary. Otherwise, everything really good and I'd definitely go back. I'll just order the single scrambled and not mention it's for my dog.

The crab cakes are always a win, and the fried chicken with collard greens never disappoints. One thing that always amuses me: the bar is packed at brunch with people already several drinks deep at 10 a.m. I love that for them. Vacation-mode activated. The only downside is the waitstaff. Very LA-snob energy. You get the feeling you're inconveniencing them simply by showing up, which takes away from an otherwise great experience. So I don't go often. But when I'm craving soul food, it's one of the few places I'll happily return to.

The only two issues were the cabbage wasn't seasoned well and needed to be cooked longer. Also the cornbread was not sweet and was reheated in a microwave. Overall all of us enjoyed our meal! Then finally came the next people, whose order took an exorbitant amount of time as well. I took note of the growing line behind me but figured it's a popular place and this is how it usually works here. I ordered the short rib lunch with collard greens and black eyed peas, with sweet potatoes as an extra side. The lady charged me for a dinner (bigger portions and more expensive), which I realized when I got my meal and looked at my credit card statement. I waited for 15 minutes at the pick up window before asking about my meal, and the guy said it's being packed up. Another 10 minutes, and the people behind me are picking up their meals and are noticing I haven't gotten mine yet. One of them says something. They say it's coming. After another 10 minutes I finally get my food, in a paper bag that is already soaked in grease to the point of it falling apart by the time I get to my car. There's something on their window saying they can't use plastic bags because of some law. I go to a liquor store and buy some plastic bags so this grease doesn't get all over my car. I look in the bag, everything is leaking all over everything, and the 2 cornbreads that come with the meal are nowhere to be seen. I drive BACK to the place, wait 5 minutes for someone to show up at the back window, and ask for the cornbread that was supposed to come with my meal. This is now going on an hour from the time I placed my order. They finally get them to me. I drive to my destination, and begin eating. Black eyed peas are delicious. Collard greens are delicious. Cornbread is wonderful, but really greasy. I dig into the short rib - which by the way I paid $30 for. It's literally 80% gristle and fat. There is almost no meat. I'm trying to find the little tiny bits of meat in the generous portion of meat and am coming up with basically fat. Most of it is getting spit out. I pays for meat, not fat. Lesson learned. I will come back but only for sides and if I'm adventurous I'll try the baked fish or something though that also scares me after this questionable experience. It's obvious they bought the cheapest meat they could, didn't trim it, charged a lot for it and sold it at a price that would warrant high quality meat. The flavor was great but I paid for meat, not throw away chewy gristle. Like I said, I will come back but will most likely order only sides, as they are really good.
