My boyfriend and I were out on a mission, looking for engagement rings, and this was our first stop. Novak Jewelers is located in a brand new shopping mall on Clayton Rd., fairly close to Hwy 141. Upon entering their shop, you sense an immediate feeling of intimacy and warmth. While their jewelry selections are smaller than other stores, the quality and uniqueness of the individual items are what makes Novak Jewelers different from anywhere else. I didn't want an engagement ring that looked like everyone else's. I wanted something different. We were greeting by Greg's daughter and I immediately explained what we were looking for, what we had to work with (including a family heirloom ring), and several photos from Pinterest that I had saved. In 2 minutes she brought me 2 rings. One of them immediately caught my eye. The people here are genuine. They don't push you into buying something you don't want or need. Phyllis, the employee took wrong measurements and they resized after 3 weeks of waiting to 8.5 instead of 7.5. I did not complain and agreed to pay so after another week they finally did resized it properly. When I came to pick it up I noticed a wedding band that was about 600 dollars and the owner said that he will give me"discount " and sell it for 500$ plus resizing for another 150$.I was just coming from the hospital procedure and could not think straight so I agreed. Within a week the ring was resized and I came to pick it up and I did not like it and I politely asked if I could resell it at least for 300 o 400$ to get my money back. The owner looked me in the eyes and he said he cannot give me money back because it was resized try to sell it somewhere else. I checked with "Scotsman Coin and Jewelry" and with "Diamond Direct" and they both said that they could only give me back 150$.(within a week from the day it was purchased. Before posting this bad review, I called Saettele Jewelers and talked to the owner telling him that he lied to me and instead of apologizing or offering me refund THE OWNER THREATENED WITH A LAWYER SAYING THAT HE WILL SUE ME. I said "SUE ME FOR WHAT, for the fact that I want to put honest review so other people do not lose money? I had done my homework, so I knew what to expect regarding the intricacies of valuation. Plus, I had already visited another dealer right down the street from us (the Scotsman) and was actually planning on going with them. But when I made a follow-up phone call to clarify some details, the buyer at Scotsman was so indifferent and unhelpful I decided to see what else was out there. So glad I did! I made a phone enquiry to Used Jewelry and Tracy (I believe) was so friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable that I decided to ditch The Scotsman and brought my silver collection to Used Jewelry Buyer instead. A whole different experience. When I showed up the next day, Tracy was occupied, so Charles handled my affairs. He was just as friendly and knowledgeable and completely transparent about the fee structure (with sterling, dealer's cut is approx 20%). He weighed all the silver right in front of me on the counter. He helped me (dispassionately, no hard sell) consider the pros and cons of taking our Mexican coffee/tea set to an auction house (I nixed it). Also: while the Scotsman had offered only .25 ozt for our sterling dinner knives (instead of the more standard .5 ozt), Used Jewelry matched what I had read online. Thanks so much Used Jewelry! Plus one stone seemed to have a defect that we wanted an opinion on. Additionally we asked for a written appraisal so we could update insurance records. A comedy of errors ensued. They were not able to deliver the work by the date they had stated. The appraisal was dated with the wrong year and was not usable by the insurance company. The repair did not address the chip with a defect that we were concerned about. The rhodium plating was done and the chip that was missing was replaced and the main prongs appeared to have work done on them. There was questionable assessment judgment by assessor which was never explained other than a snotty response that it was his opinion take it or leave it. And within one day a diamond chip fell out and my wife communicated that she could not wear the ring due to poor workmanship on the prongs causing a sharp edge, which cut into her finger. She called the shop. Upon calling the shop they made excuses, talked rude to my wife and did not offer to repair the item. Never going there again. The cost of the repairs and appraisal were found to be high when I addressed the same issues with another jeweler.

The stones were beautiful but I wanted something a little bit separated from the diamond trade industry. I reached out to Lori wanting a simple round brilliant solitare in yellow recycled gold. We were able to talk on the phone and exchange emails with photos of what I wanted. Lori and my fiance finished the deal. The ring is beautiful and it was presented to me with a little wooden box and a photo book of where the stone came from and the process of it being made. These little details made an already exciting event extra special!! Lori was able to fine a beautiful solitaire stone that had been sold in order for the previous owner to upgrade.
