This review is nearly 6 years overdue. I was young, uneducated, and afraid to speak up when I had the chance. The reason why I'm writing so late, is because I stopped by Glendale and it reminded of this place lol. When I got my puppy with my girlfriend, we noticed our little guy needed some behavioral training. After researching and looking around, we went with some YouTubers recommendations, which led us to K9 logic. Our pup was about 8 months old and during our orientation, we met Chris who recommended the 8 week long individual 1 on 1 and group behavioral training. This was the best option for us because we wanted to be apart of the process since this was our first dog. After talking to Chris and figuring the best package, he also recommended an E-Collar. At first we were iffy, but he explained how it differed from a shock collar and can help with training. After we bought into it, he showed us how to use the E-Collar. And then on our pup. He showed us there was two main buttons, one for small corrections and one for emergencies. When he demonstrated on my pup with the emergency button, I felt something was wrong. My dog had the loudest yelp and became highly afraid and uncomfortable when the E-Collar was around. I'll go more depth about that in a bit. After our orientation/consultation, we tried to train with the E-Collar when we got home with little corrections, but noticed our little guy would shut down when we put the e-collar on. We were unable to make progress with training at home due to the fact he was traumatized already. Everytime it's out, our dog refuses to move (lay down with dead weight until the e collar is gone or out of sight). We didn't know what to do. So we waited until our first session to see what we were doing wrong. On our first day of training, we had the pleasure of meeting Juan (our actual trainer for the whole 8 weeks). During our first session with Juan, we brought along our E-Collar that we had purchased from Chris. We explained to Juan what was happening at home with our pup when the E-Collar was around, and he had saw the levels for the correcting button at 25 and emergency button at nearly max. He asked us why was it so high? We replied, Chris had sold it to us that way and taught us how to use it with those settings. We also explained that he demonstrated the collar on our pup. Juan looked shocked and said, those settings were way too high to begin with. He had to reset our remote to the lowest setting and worked up the levels to see where my dog would react to the levels. We found the sweet spot with Juan at around level 5-6 for basic corrections and emergency button at around 12-14 but it was already too late, my dog was traumatized. To this day, my dog is still afraid of the remote/collar when he sees it. (We still have the collar in our dog drawer, but never use it). Also to note, not sure if it matters. Chris never checked up on us during our sessions or after our program ended. After 2 sessions with Juan, my pup was still shutting down with the E-Collar (waste of $$$). Juan actually suggested a prong collar for corrections instead which we still use currently. Something that wouldn't shut down my pup when training. The sessions went great with Juan, we were able correct behavioral issues during our sessions. Our dog excelled so much with Juan, he had ran out of ideas on what else to correct. So for the last two sessions, it was more fun, he ended up teaching us how to train our pup to do tricks like, roll, fetch, and safe. He continued to teach us on how to better train at home. After our program ended, Juan insisted to stay in contact for any future questions we had and for updates! Juan and our dog got along with each other so well. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. TLDR; came here from recommendations. Chris sold us a 8 week long training package. Traumatized our dog with the e-collar. Met the best trainer, Juan. read more

Chris is a good master coach. He is full of ignition and willing to teach. He brings a lot to the table. You can tell he enjoys teaching because the passion behind it. Chris is very skilled and knowledgeable with all training tools. He speaks the dog's language, so communication with the dog comes easy. It is like harmony. I was very satisfied with Chris. I would recommend him to anyone. I said it once, and I will say it again. Chris is a very good master coach! Go to him with ignition and open mind. We brought our labradoodle, Ozzy, to K9 for training. Although all the trainers are great, we had Chris. Chris proves that his job was to get our dog to achieve the goals we had in mind for him. We signed up for the puppy social classes and 8 private training sessions in hopes to get Ozzy to be fully leashless, ready for the outdoors, and to build and strengthen his skills (e.g. recall and healing skills). Although we didn't think possible, Chris managed to get Ozzy there halfway through our privates. This left the remaining trainings where we were able to focus on refinement as well as working on behavioral needs. He was able to come up with methods to deal with and work on for Ozzy, specifically for our needs, our home, our level of effort, and the tools that we had. After 8 weeks, we can't believe the growth we have seen in Ozzy since before K9 to the wonderful companion he is now. All that said, please know that although these trainers are amazing, we learned that it is up to us as the owners to follow through at home and in our everyday life with Ozzy. Be sure to be specific when explaining your goals and amount of time you can dedicate to your dog. This is a collaborative effort between you and the trainer. If that doesn't work for you, I suggest the board and train that Ozzy's brother was enrolled in at K9 Logic. Which also works really well if you do not have the time to put into training. What can we say? K9 Logic was hands down some of the best money we've ever spent. We took our beloved blue heeler puppy Rune there at 8 months due to excessive barking, reactivity to dogs and people, lunging and pulling on walks. Although Rune was playful with other dogs, she also had insecurities that would arise and could cause problems. Walking her had become a nightmare and we were really stressed out even when just taking her out for a stroll. We'd tried various methods that we found on YouTube, saw on Instagram, or read about in books; and it seemed like nothing was working. We finally booked an 8 week training course with Chris and K9 Logic, and from the first class, we realized that this would be a huge opportunity for growth - for both us and our dog. Rune is not an easy dog, and Chris saw that. He helped us select the best tools to both teach and strengthen the behavior we wanted from her. He taught us how to teach. It's very hands on. Chris would show us how to train, and what homework we should be doing between classes. We really put the time in, and our results were amazing. Now we are able to walk Rune with no pulling, lunging, or barking. We can take her off leash with great confidence, even around bicyclists, other dogs, or children. One of the most valuable results of the training is that we now have far fewer negative interactions with our dog. Our bond is strengthened, and she really trusts us and wants to keep learning. She is less anxious, more confident, and happier. Obviously some of this is natural as the dog gets older, but we are thoroughly convinced of the great value this training has given us as dog owners. My dog's last private training session was in Dec2020 so this review is a little late! K9 Logic is definitely worth every penny! My dog (Kikko) is a mutt. A small, high-anxiety, aggressive terrier mix who I thought was going to be impossible to train, especially during the pandemic. I went in for an evaluation (he was around 8-months at the time) and was told the 8 private sessions would be most effective for his behavior. His training mainly focused on basic obedience, leash, and distraction training. I did think the nonrefundable payment for an evaluation was a little wild, but it was applied to my training sessions and, like I said, it was worth every penny. They have all the tools you will need to help you train your dog - incluidng other dogs to help with distraction. Employees are also very good with following health/safety procedures for the pandemic. Dom is such an awesome trainer! He made sure to train my pup (and me) and he also was attentive enough to realize when Kikko was stressed. He really cares for all of the dogs he deals with and it's very noticeable. Kikko used to be unmanageable at home and in public, but all my friends and family members have noticed how well-behaved he's become since training with K9. I also take Kikko on runs and hikes every week and he's grown to be the best dog to have by my side for outdoor activities. I learned a lot from K9 and it was so nice to have a trainer to work with my dog and teach me techniques that I still use today. Training at K9 Logic was the best investment I could have made for myself and my new pup, Oliver! Korean Jindo dogs are typically not the easiest breed to handle. They're smart but independent and can have a wild streak which easily develops into fear or aggression if it isn't properly managed. K9 Logic takes a personal approach by getting to know you, your dog and what your goals are, which I really appreciated. Anyone can go online and watch training videos but you need a professional to make on the spot corrections, help train you as the handler and teach you to how to communicate with your dog. We started by attending puppy socials and group classes with head trainer Chris, which were great to get the basics down and make new friends with other puppy parents. But the most progress was made in our private sessions with Dom, who is fantastic! I was initially against using an e-collar because of all the negative things I had heard about them, but decided to put my trust in Dom and got one. I was lucky to have found K9 Logic. My family adopted this 110lb fluff 3 yrs ago. Even though he was sweet as sugar, he didn't realize how big he was. Walking around with this ball of curiosity and energy was becoming problematic. We brought him in to help with leash training and controlling his instinct to lunge at everyone to say hello. The best trainers! I knew I needed some expert advise training my 10 week old lab/pit mix. She was getting strong fast and it would be no time before she was pulling me down the street. Chris worked with us once a week. We started with the basics and I quickly realized that it was training for me as much as my pup. It taught me dog psychology and how to better communicate. In no time my pup was doing sit, down, staying in a place, and the biggest hurdle-- loose leash walking. I signed up for an 8 week class with k9 logic. I just want to start to say that the team is personable, friendly, professional, and patient. We started with a 7 month Bernedoodle with reactivity issues, pulling on leash, jumping, counter surfing, breaking out of command. The first day is an evaluation day, where one of the trainers (mine was Chris) assess your dogs behavior. I had the pleasure of working with Dom(trainer). He showed us the fundamentals of proper tool use including communicating with the leash, reward system, stim collar use, whilst keeping it clear of the negative and positive reinforcement to create a better dog. At the end of the 8 week course. Our pup is more responsive to obedience, has better judgment, better impulse control, better handle in new environments, less stress overall. Towards the end of our lessons, we would go to the nearby dog park with vast grassy areas to work on recall, stays, tricks and agility. We even went to a nearby home improvement store and walked through the aisles since I told Chris I wanted to work on being able to take Noli out to public places. Once you become an alumni, you can attend the group outings at the Americana, which we have attended and have been tremendously useful being around crowds and other dogs. This review is long overdue. I was a client at K9 Logic two years ago I believe. I have an 80lb mixed breed dog (50% German shepherd, 25% pitbull, sprinkled with Staffordshire terrier and Rottweiler) who had already graduated from basic obedience and had done some additional training (on my own) with an e-collar I purchased from Amazon. At the time, I had several friends who were training their dogs here and they were all so phenomenally behaved so I decided to give them a try. I took him in for an evaluation with a gentleman (I forgot his name but I think he was the owner). He educated me on how they train dogs, their use of slip-leashes and e-collars, and their importance in the role of negative reinforcement in more advanced dog training (don't worry, there is a lot of positive reinforcement too). He was very confident and knowledgeable and it was amazing to see how he handled my dog. My dog is extremely food motivated and quite intelligent so he was picking things up very quickly in the evaluation. We discussed some of my training goals for my dog, which included intermediate obedience (heel, down, down-stay, place, touch, up, down, impulse control, agility) and above all addressing two very important behavioral problems: his tendency to run towards scuffles at dog parks and his high prey drive. The owner suggested 8 sessions given some of these issues. Now, K9 Logic is pricey. However, in my opinion, the prices they charge are reasonable for the knowledge and training they provide. Trust me when I say that you will walk away from your training with them with a transformed pup. You will have to buy a Mini Educator e-collar and slip leash if you do not have those items. If you are deterred by the thought of using an e-collar then either you have been misinformed or have heard myths. K9 Logic educated me on its proper use. The e-collar shock levels range from 0-99. We started at 4 and I have never gone above 15. I got to work with Diana. She was a great trainer, showing me how to do things and explaining her rationale, and then having me practice it in session with her. After you leave every season, you have homework for the week. If you think training your dog takes a long time, then again you have either been misinformed or heard myths. I trained my dog everyday, twice a day, for only 10-15 minutes a time. As he became more advanced in his skills, our training sessions at home (and outside of the home) grew in duration. Initially, we started working in the little gym they have. I learned how to hold the e-collar, how to use it, when to apply a shock and when not to, and how to treat my dog. I learned language to communicate with my dog and let him know that he needed to come to me and when I was coming to him. As he gained more skills, our training moved outside of their gym to the local Home Depot and a park full of people and squirrels. He did extremely well in these very distracting environments. By the time I was done, I had a much calmer, more focused dog. I was a doctoral student at the time and after this training, I was able to bring my dog to 2-hour long classes where he would simply lie down, sleep, and wait for me to finish. Everyone was impressed, including peers who had seen him before we embarked on this journey with K9 Logic. I not only gained a much more well behaved dog, but I got to bond with my dog a lot. He eventually stopped running to scuffles and has improved a great deal on his prey drive; the latter I don't believe will ever go away. The only suggestion I have for K9 Logic is to have an agility course that is more basic and that can be used to build a dog up to the more advanced agility course they have. My dog attempted their agility course but it was too scary for him. He was not confident enough and not ready. They also told me I could teach my dog agility via playgrounds at parks; however, I did that and one time, my dogs nail got caught on the playground and he jumped off and ripped his nail off, causing him to bleed everywhere (it was a hot mess). I never went back to a playground after that. Other than this, I was happy with my experience. read more

My dog Sarabi recently completed K9 Logics 8 week board and train program and we are thrilled with the results! From the first consultation, we were impressed by their knowledge of dog behavior, training methods, clear communication. They took the time to understand Sarabi's unique personality and designed a training program specifically for her. The board and train program was intensive, but K9 Logic sent us regular updates with videos and photos, so we always felt connected to Sarabi and were able to track her progress. My experience is with the puppy social. We took our 12 week old puppy to a social one evening for her to play with other dogs. We didn't know what to expect but hoped that it would be a positive experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't the most ideal and we never ended up going back to the socials but are not closed off to other trainings. I wouldn't recommend the puppy social if you have a small, intimidated/shy pup. For context, our dog at the time was about 6lbs, very shy and apprehensive about other people and dogs. We arrived hoping that there would be dogs her size to play with but all of the dogs were about 10x her size--still puppies, just HUGE. As soon as we walked into the facility, the trainer that was working at the time was pretty gruff with us and told us repeatedly to put down our dog. We were only holding her at first to get her used to her surroundings and energy, but the trainer insisted in a kind of harsh tone that she's never going to learn to be comfortable if we don't leave her alone. I was pretty uncomfortable with it; my dog was cowering underneath the chairs while huge dogs romped around her. She even peed on herself. Seeing her so scared like that freaked me out and it was really hard to watch. She was like that the entire time until we left. I totally understand the trainer's point of view, I just wish she had taken the time and patience to explain to us that yea, it's a little unnerving to see this kind of behavior in our dog and our instinct to protect her isn't wrong, but we need allow her to acclimate. The way she communicated it to us was pretty short and not reassuring. In hindsight, I wish I would've listened to my own intuition and not allowed my dog to get that spooked (maybe even insisted that I held onto her for a little bit just to warm her up a bit before all that stimulus) because after that experience, she is pretty terrified of dogs when she wasn't before. I think if you have a bigger puppy who is social and loves to play with dogs already, this is a great space for you! But if your pup is a little timid or takes a bit to warm up to their surroundings, the puppy social might scar them a bit. I'm not mad at the experience, it just wasn't for us. read more

We completed a three week board and train with Wally, our very restless and energetic labradoodle this summer. The team was absolutely fantastic and put us at ease leaving our pup with them. Wally came home e-collar trained, walking perfectly, and so happy with the trainers that he barely wanted to leave. We came out with a new set of tools to address his nipping outbursts around the house. This place is great! The facility is clean and very well maintained. We dropped off our german shepherd puppy for their board & train program and we just picked him up yesterday and we are impressed! K9 Logic staff took care of our dog, made sure he was fed well, and treated our dog like he was their own. Our dog had some obedience problems, such as, leash pulling, barking, and getting distracted in public. When we picked him up, Chris taught us the commands and made sure that we were comfortable and reassured us that he will still be available for any questions/concerns even after the training has been completed. He was updating us every week on our dog's progress and even sending us videos and pictures, when available. Most people think that dog training is pricey; however, we believe that it is a very good investment! You (and your dog) will leave this place satisfied, happy, and excited to go to places without worrying about your dog's behavior. Before this class, my dog had issues with resource guarding and being extremely reactive towards dogs, kids, cars, and people in general. After this class I would say she improved by 90%. Yes, there are still things to improve but it is up to me as the dog Mom to practice and teach my dog while providing more exposure to those scenarios that will provide teachable moments. The biggest difference with this class is that they train the dog parents too. Other classes primarily train the dog which doesn't allow continuing success. I took another class and although it was less expensive and less time consuming, I did not get as much out of it as I did with this class. This class was extremely structured and involved repetition. Was the class expensive? Yes but I can say it is worth every dollar. I can now do all the things I dreamed about and sit at restaurants with my dog and spend the quality time together at public places we deserve to have. Also was I nervous about the tactics used? Yes, but they were very strategic and careful and monitored everything. Nothing was extreme or questionable. I'm extra paranoid about it and if I can say it was acceptable, I would say there is nothing to worry about. As for the trainer, Dom, he was very clear and supportive and gave constructive criticism that was necessary and beneficial. There were great examples used during the class and it was very well thought out where tips were used repeatedly till we understood. Rey is amazing!! I am so thankful to him, Chris, and the entire K9 Logic team. Because of them my relationship with my dog has transformed and improved signficantly since I started training with them. To give a little context, I am a first time dog owner who decided to adopt a puppy during the pandemic. I thought I was prepared but I'm not gonna lie -- I didn't know what I was getting myself into once I picked up my little pup. Despite my dog being less than 10lbs, he would constantly pull on the leash to the point he was choking himself on the collar. He would bunny hop everywhere instead of walking normally. No amount of Youtube dog tutorial videos were helping me to fix the walking, recall, and barking issues. I was frustrated, to say the least. Lo and behold, I found K9 Logic Dog Training. I had my initial consultation with Chris and he spent more than an hour listening and sharing his knowledge with me about why these issues were arising. Rey is a great teacher -- he is personable, kind, and knowedgeable. He was very patient with me while he walked me through the entire process. I love the pedagogy they've created for their program; they start with the basics by teaching leash pressure and food motivation before moving on to more complex methods. Julie is amazing!!!! We did 5 private sessions for our dog Foxy! She was easily excited by seeing other dogs, motorcycles, and anything that wasn't me or my partner. It made walks stressful and we felt limited in where we could take her. Now, she can go everywhere with us just as we wanted for her. Hands down the BEST place to take your furry best friend. The facility is huge and has multiple spaces for distraction-free training and a play area to socialize. I did private training with my rescue pup, Mowgli, and it made SUCH a difference in getting him comfortable. Chris (the owner) made sure that I understood the how's/why's behind all training techniques. He took the time to get to know Mowgli and was straight forward with his approach. I also got to know the rest of the staff really well and they are all so friendly and professional. I'm so glad I decided to invest in dog training and I'm even more glad I decided to go with K9 Logic. Worth every penny. My boyfriend and I adopted a 3 year old Husky/Jindo mix (Sawyer) and there were some behavior problems we needed to address such as dumpster diving, running away, and really bad separation anxiety. Sawyer is incredibly smart and knows what is right and wrong. He will be very obedient when we are around, but a little rebel when we leave. There's been a couple times I've come home crying because Sawyer destroyed our place when we left him alone. Imagine pee, poo, trash, food...everywhere. The first time I emailed Chris inquiring about his services, he gave me a call immediately and we talked on the phone for more than 30 minutes. During the phone call I knew Chris is incredibly knowledgable and is passionate about what he's doing. He wasn't trying to upsell me on any packages and recommended I start small and go from there. We bought a 10 pack training session (5 private + 5 group) and only have a few more classes left and Sawyer is a completely different dog. During the training sessions I felt like I was the one getting trained. Chris breaks down everything he's doing and explains how I should call my dog, where to hold the treat, when to feed the treat etc. He keeps his training simple by teaching just a few commands "yes", "no", "place", "heel" which makes it easy for me (and Sawyer) to follow and understand. I recommend getting the mix of private and group classes because I was able to apply what I learned during my private sessions in a group setting with lots of distraction. This helped us gauge what we needed to continue working on. While training Sawyer will be ongoing process, through the techniques I've learned from Chris, Sawyer has gained more trust and respect for me which has improve his behavior issues. Our trainer, Dom, was so patient with not only our pup but also with us! We signed up for 8 sessions and in such a short time, he's really helped us learn how to use our tools properly and effectively. Prior to K9 logic, Nala would walk to a taut leash and would have difficulty with obedience when there's distractions around. Now, she is walking so well on AND off leash and her obedience has significantly improved! In addition, Dom taught us how to control her jumping on visitors, how to leave things when asked to (i.e. tennis balls which are her weakness), place and recall when off-leash! Most importantly, Nala loved Dom and was excited to see him every session (beyond excited, actually). Simply a miracle. We adopted Henry ( on the right ) 4 months ago , and he had some major issues. He was a completely different dog outside of the house compared to when he is inside. Literally every creature that walks this earth ( besides humans ) would piss him off. He would bark and lunge at them non stop, and absolutely nothing would distract his attention. Walking him became a nightmare , he terrorized our neighbors dog ( don't be fooled by the cute face ) and birds were no longer welcome at our balcony. Driving a car was nearly impossible , just imagine non stop bark for no matter how long the drive took , running from window to window relentlessly. After 2.5 months , cutting his walks out shorter just because he it became too damn stressful , we stumbled upon k9. Previously we tried training him ourself , but the major issue ( getting his attention outside ) was impossible for us , and no training was done at all. We sent him for a 2 week board and train with k9 , Juan was in charge of training Henry. It has been 4 weeks since , and it has been nothing short of MAGIC! So far , we were able to go and eat at 3 restaurants without having him ruin the entire meal when a dog comes by. We took him to the Runyon canyon hike TWICE ( and the people that have been there know that there is a dog encounter literally EVERY 2 SECONDS ). Henry unfortunately is just not friendly with other dogs , and we don't expect him to be. But thank god we found k9 that completely made his issues manageable. We really wanted to give this place a try because of the reviews, so we set up an appointment for an evaluation and paid the fee. Our dog barks and has reactivity issues. Unfortunately, upon arriving at our appointment, the first thing Chris asks is "Is your dog gonna bark the whole time?" I thought, "well, yeah, that's why we came to you for help", but I brushed it off and walked out with our dog to the lobby. That was the first red flag for me. Not three minutes later, he comes out and says they can't take calls with my dog barking, so he escorts us outside. Meanwhile, my girlfriend is still in the evaluation room. I go outside with our dog and ask him if he wants us to just hang out there for a bit, thinking he was gonna call us back in so he can evaluate our dog more closely. He says, "Just walk around here or something." Well, we ended up waiting out there for the whole hour while he did his whole sales spiel with my girlfriend. What we though was an evaluation turned into a sales pitch. I am absolutely disgusted and would never give Chris my business. If I could give this place a negative star, I would. read more

10/10!!! After exhausting every youtube video and trying every effort on our own to help our reactive dog, we took him to K9 logic. We booked 8 private sessions with Diana, and after just two sessions, he was already showing so much improvement! He used to bark at everything that moved, pull on the leash to the point of choking himself, and walks were stressful. Now, we can take him on hikes, to parks, even to busy places like the Americana and he looks to US for guidance. His leash barking has stopped completely, and walks are something we can look forward to! He is a 10mo old chi mix. I recommend this place to anyone looking for immediate change to their dogs behavior. Don't let the price of dog training push you away..the value of what you get is 100% worth it. I have a rescue pittie mix who was extremely reactive and would choke herself from pulling on her leash. It was embarrassing and near impossible to walk her. We came to K9 logic and in ONE SESSION - A single, one hour session - she learned how to heel. After 5 private classes & 5 group classes, my dog can now do pack walks and hikes. Chris has incredible patience and so much knowledge on how to break down the training for both the dog and the human. The level of detail he puts into the small (but very important) things like rewarding the dog at the right position and timing, the slight pressure on the leash, and the clear language spoken to the dog WILL set you up for success. We can't recommend K9 enough and regret not working with them sooner on our 1 yr old keeshond, Huck. We did the 8-week private training with Chris and our relationship with Huck has changed completely. Prior to training here, we couldn't take Huck on walks without him shrieking, pulling and lunging when he saw other dogs, even when we had his favorite treats and him being on Prozac. Most walks ended with high anxiety for both dog and owner and if K9 wasn't a solution, we were going to have to rehome him. Thankfully, Chris immediately realized Huck just needed proper training and that he is highly receptive to and enjoys training. The slip knot was the main tool we used and we focused a lot of our attention on polishing the heel and place commands, which taught Huck to increase his focus on us during walks and pay less attention to other dogs. We took one session to the dog park to test out Huck's training with Chris observing Huck in the wild. It's amazing how two simple routines completely changed our dog. Towards the end of class, we introduced the ecollar to transition to off leash (which is a bonus that we never even fathomed for Huck).
