Great food, great view, great price. Spicy poke bowl special had amazing teriyaki and shoyu flavors. Garlic fries were ono, and the Ahi sandwich was delicious with a huge double portion of Ahi steaks. The Ahi steaks were a little too well-done but still really yummy. Prices here were great and the view can't be beat! Laid-back cafe and wonderful staff. They take credit cards, too. So good that we actually ate here twice during our week stay in Waianae! It was a little hard to find in that it is behind a hospital, but just keep going up the hill until you can go no further--then you'll find the cafe! This seemed like a true locals place for those needing lunch around the hospital and other businesses in the area. The woman who took our order was very friendly, and service was quick. We ordered at the counter and then picked up at the window. Each day they have a fish of the day, pasta of the day, and a special chicken dish. The first day we ate here, the salmon was the special. It was delicious! Most meals also come with a side salad and rice, and both of these were delicious as well. Prices are extremely reasonable here! The amount of food is plentiful as well. My boyfriend had the pastele stew each visit and raved about it. My second visit I had the Island fish sandwich which was good, but I would definitely go with something else next time. Waianaes best kept secret... why do I say this? Because no one is here, I have a million dollar view of the ocean, and the food is sooo Ono! I always get the Pastele Stew (Best on Island) over Hapa rice, spring salad and a side mac salad. Broke Mouth action! Seriously you catching cracks! Lol. But really the experience, embiance food, and friendly service is all on point. I love just sitting in the cafe while eating my food and looking out into the ocean! This is an interesting little place at the end of a very long twisty driveway ... just off the Farrington Highway. Not really little, as the dining area is a hall ... not a cozy little place at all. But the view!! The view makes up for the "hall" atmosphere. The cooking is done in the back ... orders are taken at the window. Selections are mostly good local foods, but done with a flourish ... and some obvious passion. Did I mention the view? The place is located up the side of the mountain with an outstanding view of the ocean. Must be awesome at sunset. But sadly, closes at 2. Mostly locals come up (others have added photos of which way to turn ... we found them very useful. It's at the very end of the road) for breakfast and/or lunch. No frills. But very good. I went for the pig stew. Filling. My wife went for the fish plate. Ahi. No option for rare vs done. Thin cut, but generous servings. Neither were fancy, but very satisfying. So ... four stars ... for what it is. Not a $100 lunch. But a very happy $25 for two. read more

I went to a surprise baby shower here. If you're not familiar with the Waianae coast, you wouldn't know there's a café up the hill behind the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Center. I was having so much fun at the baby shower that I forgot to take pics of the food which was delicious. It was a small baby shower so the menu seemed to cater to the number of guests attending as the buffet line had just white rice, potato salad, chicken, noodles, and teri beef for entrees. The dessert table offered fresh variety of fruit and bread pudding. The dining room was airy and bright since the doors were opened up to the view of the coastline. The chef came out and gave us his business card and a brochure of his menu. If I can make it out here again, I would love to have lunch here. read more

Working in Waianae has it's advantages. I get to drive against traffic everyday. I get to see the beautiful ocean. I also see some random things like a guy walking his horse. Yes. Walking his horse like he was walking a dog along Farrington Highway. One day I saw a guy using a pay phone. Where on earth do you see pay phones nowadays? Did I mention he was wearing a bathrobe? Totally random. Anways. Another perk is being able to eat at Ka'aha'aina Cafe. This cafe has fresh, local offerings and daily specials that will please any palate. You do have to drive a bit up the hill and behind the hospital to find this place but its worth it. Nestled between the mountain and ocean its easy to get distracted and want to spend all day there just eating and enjoying the breeze and views. The specials change daily and its always a treat to see what they have for that day. For the most part, the specials are great but I always get their clubhouse sandwich. I enjoy clubhouse sandwiches and I can say that their's is the BEST I've had. They didn't always have french fries and used to give Maui Onion Chips but now they even have garlic fries. They do have healthy offerings too like salad and brown rice for their other dishes. Parking is usually easy to find right in front the the cafe but it can get busy at peak times. It is cash only. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is awesome! Definitely make it a point to stop here if you just happen to be in the area, which not sure if any of you townies would be in Waianae for any reason. LOL. ;o) read more

Good food, great service, and even better view. I work at WCCHC and eat here at least once a week for lunch. Mark, the chef and owner, is a super nice guy and makes tasty food here. There arent many food options if you're visiting the west side of the island. definitely stop here for a quick breakfast or lunch on your way to or from makaha, yokohama bay, or kaena point. There are daily specials as well as yummy staples. try the club house sandwich, pb&b dessert (delicious peanut butter whipped with banana on toasted bread with carmel and whip cream and vanilla ice cream), lava flow smoothie. hawaiian specials every fri - kailua pork and cabbage or pork lau lau are both excellent. if you have time, stop and enjoy the view from the cafe. since its located at the top of the hill, you get an unobstructed view of maili beach and may even bump into the resident peacock roaming around. read more

The food here is very nice and is also inexpensive. The time from ordering to eating was very short and the eating area is very spacious. The best part though is the wide doors all along the wall that let the sea breeze through the whole place and the view of the ocean. One of the West sides best kept secrets! Not only do you get fantastic food for even more fantastic prices, you get to enjoy that food while looking at one heck of an ocean view. The cafe isn't well advertised so you really need to be looking for it. Drive up the mountain to waianae coast comprehensive health center, there is another small driveway that continues further up the mountain, keep heading up! Eventually you'll end up in the parking lot. Parking is fairly limited. The cafe closes at 2 pm so get there early! Breakfast stops at 10:30. Best dish is their Kalua pig omelette! Best view of ocean on West side of Oahu. We had the bread pudding for $3.00 first. God of course. Then we shared a Korean Beef (boneless kalbi) and a nice grilled ahi fish plate. We had a smoothie that was half blueberry and half watermelon. Also great and just $3. We came on weds so they had live music . Came to Waianae for a staycation from town and returned to Ka'aha'aina in the Waianae comp center for lunch. Super reasonable prices! We ordered the fish sandwich(sauteed fish), top of the comp burger, turkey club and the full size Cobb salad. All that and our bill was $28!! All of us enjoyed our selection but I would say the Cobb salad was the most impressive and I just wish I took a pic before we devoured it. It is a bed of greens maybe from Ma'o farms? Very fresh. Tomato, cheese, sliced turkey, avocado, red onion and sweet potato(delish!) with a balsamic dressing. Definitely will repeat that, for $7! And the workers are very nice. I think it's so cheap because it is for the community and the center but they are happy to serve visitors. I never asked if we can sit in their lanai and enjoy the million dollar sweeping views but will ask the next time. Good deal and good food read more
