We used to love coming to this restaurant but yesterday was my very last time at this restaurant. Our favorite waiter quit and although our waitress was nice, it just wasn't the same quality of service. Evidently they raised their prices as well. We paid $21.00 for Filet kabob...yes, ONE KABOB!!!!! And the filet was not good quality filet. It was supposed to be medium rare and it came out medium. I also added chicken to my salad which showed $7 on the menu and they ended up charging me $11.98 for ONE KABOB OF CHICKEN!!!!!????? For 2 people for lunch it was $74.25. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL! When I inquired on the total tab, the waitress just kept saying 'PRICES WENT UP, SORRY" Skip this place and go somewhere that's worth $74.25 for lunch. read more

A simple place that serves good Persian food. Although visible from Main St., it can be a little difficult to find as the parking lot entrance is off a side street, Washburn Circle. I typically come here for lunch and get a skewer each of Filet Mignon Soltani(chunk beef) and Chicken Koobideh(ground chicken). It's served with rice, but I upgrade to 1/2 rice, 1/2 house salad. Very flavorful and a good size plate. Today, the cook on the protein was perfect; nice and juicy. read more

The food is overpriced. I spent nearly $50 for 2 orders of rice and chicken kabobs. The worst part is the customer service. I was overcharged $1 for an order and when looking at the prices on the menu, I respectfully requested a $1 refund for the difference and the manager told me there was nothing he could do. Apparently the prices on the take out menu are only valid if you take out (which I did) AND put in the order online. Folks who call in are charged more. When I asked why couldn't they make this exception for $1, another employee told me because I didn't ask nice enough. If that doesn't bother you, I suggest take out only if ordering because the atmosphere of the restaurant is unpleasant. I've been going to Kabob Hutt since 2008, prices have increased since the owner passed away couple of years ago but still very much worth it. If you like Persian grilled chicken this is the place! The only reason I'm giving this place a one star is honestly because the service here is terrible. I come here very frequently, but it seems like the servers just forget about you. No initiative for refills or to come check on you. Don't bother with the hookah, they don't know how to pack it right, I stood outside for 30 min waiting to ask to repack the bowl and nobody showed up. Me and my family have been coming here for years and actually would even meet the owner every time we would come and eat. Their management changed recently and their service has gotten extremely bad and they're also extremely understaffed. A big indicator that the quality has gone down is the fact that their customers are mostly non arab. They upcharge everything and are very rude. Even if they get customers who are arab or brown, they give priority to their non arab customers. Extremely saddened to see this service. Will not be coming back here. It's been 6 years since KH opened. We started coming here right from the beginning and felt so lucky to finally have a place in our small town that offered some great new food, good prices, a pleasant dining experience. I am so glad to report that Kabob Hutt not only survived the recession, it has gotten continually better. Not that it was ever bad. As I stated in my initial review in 2010, the owners took a failing, nasty looking drive-thru burger place and dressed it up into a cute but small Persian restaurant, complete with an odd drive thru window if you feel you have no time for leisure dining. Hence the odd appearance. There is dining inside and out, with a beautiful shaded patio that almost deceives you into forgetting they are right next to a busy street and the freeway. It is tricky to find your way in. While completely visible from Main Street, you cannot get in to their parking lot unless you turn onto Grand Blvd. (the historic, circular raceway built in 1913), and then again into a cul de sac. It is not a pretty sight from the back, but once you get inside, the spell begins. You can start by ruining your appetite by spreading some butter on their flatbread then wrapping it around a slice of raw, sweet onion. Not for the weak hearted, but surprisingly good. Just make sure your date does the same. My mom, bless her heart, used to carry a baggie of cloves in her purse to chew on afterwards for such an emergency. Voila, instant good breath. Then comes decision time! Your choice of Chicken, Filet Mignon, Lamb, Vegetarian. I have tried the Fesenjon (a soupy chicken stew made with pomegranate molasses and ground walnuts). Their kabobs are quite good and generous portions. I especially love the chicken and beef Koobideh (a seasoned, skewered ground meat that is melt in your mouth tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned and made into 2 enormous skewers for $9). A great introductory dish for the Persian food novice, but great regardless. I am happy to report there are two lamb dishes on the menu, the char broiled baby chops or kabob style. And for vegetarian preferences, there are many choices of salads and stews made from eggplant, chickpeas, lentils, peas, or beans. Their basmati rice topped with a sprinkling of saffron rice is tremendous, but I have to confess I toss a pat of butter into it while it is still hot to make it totally irresistible, then top it with some ground sumac. It comes with most dishes, and the platter is further graced with a nicely grilled, whole tomato. This time, my platter even had a large sprig of fresh, healthy mint leaves which I nibbled on as I tore into my meat and tomato. Forehead slappingly delicious. Friday and Saturday evening, come for the belly dancing. I have never seen the entertainment, but really, isn't anyone who does belly dancing simply amazing? This is definitely a great bookmark for adventuring into the IE. read more

ON THE HOUSE Okay, not everything was on the house, just one thing, the Shiraze Salad, a combination of cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. Pretty tasty. When we arrived to the restaurant, the hostess told us the wait would take about 15 minutes to get seated. We ended up waiting for about 25 minutes, and to compensate for that time, she gave us the Shiraze Salad appetizer on the house. SCORE. I love great service like that. Being that we came here for a NYE dinner, we lucked out and was able to get some belly dancing, despite it not being a Friday or Saturday night. SCORE. The menu also changed a little and I got the Juicy Chicken.. and the name did not let me down, because it was JUICY.. moist.. oh my gosh.. it was SO good. I really wonder how Kabob Hutt does it! The hummus, as always was delicious, but I do wish the pita bread was served hot. And for dessert we got the Faloodeh, a shaved ice, noodle dish, topped with cherries. I can't really describe it. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and it kind of tasted like lavender? Either way, it was just a 3 star for me. And lastly, service was definitely a hit during the beginning, but kind of went slow towards the last half of our dining experience. A huge party came, who had reservations, and our waiter had to go between our party and theirs. It took 10-15 minutes to get our drinks refilled, and took a while to get our waiter to get the check and boxes to go. Other than that, I'm still your fan. read more

Gosh I really feel foolish for not have written a review before . We've been coming here for years. All their dishes are delicious. I tend to order their tenderloin chicken salad. It's on a bed of very fresh romaine lettuce, sliced crispy cucumbers and sliced fresh tomatoes never soggy. And it comes with this delicious creamy balsamic dressing. Yum! My husband on the other hand goes ALL OUT. From their steak/chicken kabobs, humus and so much more. Their rice is so good too. He's a big foodie, and always says their food is always very fresh! Chicken Koobidieh w/half rice and half house salad and their yummy lemon vinaigrette dressing is my go to dish! For drink I love their ice tea with a sprig of mint! Mmmmmm, my mouth waters just writing about it! Do note that it's not like that on the menu but they're always so nice about preparing it that way for me. This is actually a nice restaurant. When my sister used to live in Corona, we've had them deliver the food. I've also eaten here before with a friend for dinner. Service is usually nice and pleasant. It's nice to have a Persian restaurant close by now that I don't live close to Irvine or Wholesome Choice. This time around I was curious about their drive through. I've never seen a drive through attached to a nice restaurant, but then again the neighboring businesses are mechanic shops. Driving through is easy enough but the wait was long. I decided to never do that again. They were very apologetic and kept checking in on me and I told them it was all right. Usually I don't begrudge a business especially since they keep you updated and apologize. The food is delicious here. I totally recommend coming here. I was so excited to try this place. I'm sorely disappointed. I got the lamb chops ($17.99) and a pomegranate Margarita ($7.50). Margarita was decent, and the lamb chops were well seasoned, however, the waitress had asked if medium well was ok. I asked for medium rare. When I received my meal, it was cooked medium well so I let my server know so she could rectify it. I wasnt even upset. Until i got it back. When I received the newly cooked lamb back, it was to my surprise that it had come out a little above rare. Chewy and so hard to swallow I couldn't even finish it. The cook must have been offended because I also got less of a portion and a bad cut of meat full of tendon and fat. Update: After the crappy service we received we found out on our credit card statement that they charged an extra $10 as tip even though we had left one despite the service.
