A person might think that one cannot enjoy high quality Mediterranean food in Bowling Green. That person would be wrong. During a recent visit to BG we lunched at Kabob It and were pleasantly delighted by the variety of menu offerings, the ability to customize, and the quality of the food. The person taking our order was so helpful, answering questions about the samplers, combos, and ability to substitute. We tried a variety of menu offerings including: hommous, baba ghanouj, tabbouleh, green beans, falafel, lentil rice, both Greek and regular fries, and the vegetarian chicken and hommous wrap. Everything was delicious, however standouts included the hommous, lentil rice, and green beans. Pricing is reasonable for a college town, and there are plenty of tables and relatively comfy chairs for those who wish to order and dine-in. read more

Review #500! What a great little restaurant and so cool that it marks my 500th YELP review as it was such an awesome find! Kabob It Bowling Green is located at 132 E Wooster St, Bowling Green, OH 43402. I was in town for work and looking for a place to grab some dinner when I discovered this place on Yelp. It sounded good, it was close by, and went to check it out. I was able to grab a parking spot on the street and it looked like additional parking at the side of the building. I really like how guests are warmly greeted when you walk in. The restaurant has a kind of a divey cool small business feel and atmosphere. After looking over the menu, I decided on the Kafta Kabob Sandwich ($11.98) and added fries and a drink ($3.99). Fries were hot and the sandwich was delicious. There was a group of 20+ students from a swim meet that had came in right before me. I was completely impressed with how the two man staff handled the orders and how promptly they were able to complete each individual order. It was a great experience. Friendly service, delicious food, and would recommend grabbing a meal here. Next time I am in town I will definitely stop in to try some more items as everything sounded and looked so yummy. 10/1: We ordered 2 gyros, loaded gyro fries, pita loaf and lg side of tzatziki. We get home with the food and find that the fries are missing the lamb meat, an integral ingredient I think. I call and explain, the worker on the phone says, "Yeah, let me take your name and next time you come in we can get you replacement." Awesome, that works, thanks! No problem. Now 2 days later I stop in for another pita loaf and large side of tzatziki (~$13! but that's a separate issue), and asked about the loaded gyro fries replacement. Worker says, "Oh, yeah, I saw that." and seems as though he's going to remedy it. As I grab the bag to leave, I notice there isn't a foam container, but there is a small plastic container of warm lamb. I ask the guy working, "It's not just a replacement of the loaded gyro fries?" "Well, it was only missing the meat, right?" .... What? Really? What do I want chopped lamb by itself for? Did he think I kept the fries for 2 days until I picked up this separate serving of lamb? I was so confused by that I just decided to leave, if that seemed like the correct response for the place at first (astounding), I didn't really think I'd get anywhere anyway. Anyway, I couldn't imagine any restaurant resolving an error this way. Hopefully your order is right when you go, because the way they correct their mistakes is ludicrous. read more

Scheduled delivery, which I ordered about an hour ahead of time, was about 45 minutes late. When I called they said the delivery guy had just gotten back from delivering in MAUMEE! That wasn't my problem. Poor planning on their part. Then, when we got the food, the salad was inedible. Most of the lettuce was brown, and the tomatoes were mushy. Another great local spot in the downtown area of Bowling Green. I love the casual vibes the place gives off and it's a great place to stop by on a weekend. The food is fantastic, I particularly like the lamb and chicken platters. The Fatoosh salad and hummus are some of the best I've ever had and would highly recommend! Staff are friendly and helpful, providing whatever you need. Ample parking right behind the store and everything is very reasonably priced. On Wednesdays they even have a lunch special which is awesome since you can get Shawarma for half the price. overall totally recommend read more

Couple weeks ago I went in for my first time during the day, usually I go in at night on the weekends. I was ordering food for my girlfriend to try because she had never been there before and the food we got was completely inedible. The steak kebab was so tough that she couldn't even bite through it, The chicken kebab was dry and for some reason spicy? I was one of two customers in the building and it took me 20 minutes to get my food. Water from the HVAC system above the fryer was dripping into the tray of french fries. They moved it but continued to serve the fries out of that container which were cold. I've always had nothing but stellar service during the night but they need to do something about the day crew. read more

My friends and I came in and right off the cashier was friendly and patient with us when it took us a little bit to figure out what we wanted to order. The place wasn't very full but the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, the AC was going so it was nice and cool with the summer heat kicking in outside. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma and an order of falafel. The falafel was the first thing I tried and it came on a bed of lettuce with a cup of their homemade hummus, absolutely delicious. I inhaled that and then started on the Shawarma, also incredible. Very nice and filling, definitely dip it in some hummus if you get it. 10/10 read more

For lunch today, my coworker and I walked to Kabob It. Arriving right at noon, we were the first customers at the restaurant. Ordering at the counter, I selected the #2 combo and a soda. With tax, my total bill was $8.73, which feels like a great price for lunch. While our food was being prepared, I got my drink (a Grove's Best orange soda) from the soda fountain and then picked a table. The restaurant was tastefully decorated with a selection of Middle Eastern items like hookahs, as well as few nice pictures, including a giant banner showing a beautiful valley ringed with snow-capped mountains in Lebanon. After we took seats, another five or six customers came to the restaurant, so we were pleasantly surprised that our orders were ready very quickly. My #2 combo had larger portion sizes than I was expecting, and consisted of kafta on a rice pilaf, a meat pie, hummus, and pita bread. The kafta was expertly seasoned and, much like the pilaf it rested on, had a great flavour. The meat pie was nicely crunchy on the outside and tender in the meaty centre, while the hummus was excellent. The only letdown about the meal was the pita bread, which was just average. For great tasting food and large portion sizes at a fantastic price, I rate Kabob It at being Very Good and will definitely come back! read more

This is a very good place for a tasty lunch. The food is quite good, the service is efficient and the atmosphere is simple but pleasant. The prices are more than reasonable making it an excellent bargain. The format here is walk-up-and-order. On our visit, the person waiting on us was efficient and it did not take long to get our food as we had our order in less than 10 minutes. I chose a chicken kabob combo which was accompanied by hummus, salad and rice. I found it to be quite satisfying. With water to drink, the total for the two of us was less than $18. At under $9 per person, this was an excellent deal. I would not hesitate to recommend it for lunch if you are near downtown Bowling Green. read more

I've eaten there a couple of times now. I quite enjoy it. I had the gyro the first time, with hummus and a fattoush salad. The next time I had the kafta with rice, hummus and greek salad. My friend loves this place so she decided to take me while I was in town. I was super excited because I LIVE for all Mediterranean food! We walk into a completely empty restaurant, which maybe should've tipped me off, but I figure, hey it's a small town and it's a Thursday, so ok, I understand. We order the Mediterranean pasta, a small side order of grape leaves, side garlic potatoes and then the grape leave sandwich. While we're waiting I glance back to see the cook taking something out of the microwave, but didn't think anything about it. Well, I should've, because we proceed home to find that Every. Single. Thing. Was not good. The tiny ridiculous grape leaves we ordered were burned into the styrofoam making half of them uneatable. The garlic potatoes were just flavorless cut up frozen French fries. The pasta was chewy spaghetti with hunks of veggies on top. Like they couldn't be bothered to chop them into pieces you could eat without cutting. The sandwich was so tiny and bland, but it was the only thing that was decent enough to eat. I know I would certainly never go back, but for the sake of my friend who lives down the street and used to love this place, I hope you get a new cook! Plus side: cashier was nice. I have ordered from here multiple times before, and it has always been amazing. Today, falafels are half the size they used to be, and the grape leaves are about half size as well! As in, smaller than your pinky finger. Green beans very disappointing. A poor attempt at what can be such a delicious cuisine. First, the baklava was hard, very hard. One of the cooks had his face mask below his nose making several orders one after another. The hummus had an overwhelmingly high amount of tahini (The worst I've had), I have been abroad multiple times and enjoy most cuisines. It was a take-out order and upon arriving at our destination there weren't any napkins or utensils. The chicken kebabs were so dry, not even dipping them in tzatziki or garlic sauce helped. The grape leaves had a sad and sickly appearance, but they were surprisingly OK. The rice, was excellent. Finally, the gyro meat was not only sickly looking but very disappointing. It is unfortunate as I enjoy supporting locally owned businesses and will be in the area for only a short time up from South Florida. If you are looking for similar foods that are worth your dollar in Northwest Ohio I suggest the South Side 6, Poco Piatti or Nar Mediterranean Grill. $22 out the window on rice and pita bread. Great food, an even better atmosphere, and the kindest employees. A lot of the ingredients don't taste good on there own, in fact some are downright disgusting to me. Thought I would try this place because I was craving a gyro I ordered the chicken gyro and lentil soup. The chicken had a weird taste kind of like cinnamon and mostly dark meat. The lentil soup was extremely salty. That is saying something from me because I do like a lot of salt and it was even too salty for me. Probably will not return. When I went to school in BG I would literally eat there at least twice a week! The owner was always very nice and the service was always fairly quick, even if they were packed. They have the BEST garlic sauce so I would 10/10 recommend getting extra orders of garlic sauce on the side every time you order. All in all I love and miss this restaurant the most now that I have graduated and moved away from BG. Give it a try read more

This place hit or miss. Sometimes you order and the food is great, other times mediocre. They do have excellent hummus and fluffy falafel! You can't beat their Wednesday gyro special. 1 word... Addictive! Picked up an early dinner here on my way through town - I ordered 2 gyros, (1 chicken, 1 lamb), a salad, and hommous with pita. I already knew the hummous was amazing because I've had it at party before. The rest of the food was just as good! Both the chicken and lamb were full of flavor and warm spices.
