    Stuffed cabbage (goluptsi)
    Adela S.

The food is delicious and tastes homemade. I am a fan of their tomato and onion salad, stuffed cabbage and pelmeni soup. Their black tea with sugar is perfectly steeped and so deeply aromatic. Every Russian/Central Asian dish I have tried here is delicious. The service is not quick and it's better to be proactive and approach the server with your order instead of waiting for them to approach you. Also, do not wait for the check. Go up to the counter and pay. The ambience is clean but sparse and they have an Islamic prayer room for the many truckers that frequent this establishment due to its proximity to the turnpike. Sometimes on Fridays they play Quranic recitations instead of europop music through the speakers, which makes a soothing and lovely environment.

A place like this, situated where it is, will cause you to say, "only in America." I did some campaign work in the greater Toledo area. The money people put us up in a True by Hilton in the Corporation of Rossmore, OH. Work came fast and unpredictable; time was not an ally. Scouring the webs for interesting places to eat, Chayhana hit the top of the list. I'm driving at night through vast expanses of open land like I'm Neal Cassady, except I'm looking for pelmeni, and not pu... whatever. In any event, the scene is liminal. A saltbox house here, a lone church there, and a ten story silo over there. Finally, I arrive at my destination: Chayhana. This Uzbeki restaurant is in what looks like a renovated Wendy's. It's also on one corner of a four way intersection that otherwise caters to truckers. The boys running the place got their hands on some firecrackers and are lighting them off in the parking lot. Fucking Fallujah, man. The service here is lackadaisical, but well meaning. Their lack of promptness and proclivity to forget an item you ordered isn't because they don't value your patronage. These lapses in are due to the fact that they have only recently arrived from the Caucuses where priorities are different. I admit the place is dirty. I read how a fellow yelper got sick; I can see that happening. But again, life in the Caucuses differs from that of the continental U.S. Look, they have an entire array of colognes for you to use in the men's room. That should make up for bad service. And the piquancy of the food should make up for the fact that dining here is like a game of Russian Roulette for food poisoning. I ordered three items: big eyes, bigger stomach. One was an appetizer. Cheburek, which belongs to the broad genre of stuffed dough, this one is stuffed with ground beef and onions and the dough is fried. They gave some kind of canned tomato sauce in a plastic ramekin: I didn't ask. It's an appetizer made completely in house for $3.99, you don't complain. I also ordered the pelmeni. For those of you who fancy yourselves Italian food lovers, these are shaped just like tortellini, but have a beef and onion filling - you see a pattern with the beef and onion (in Uzbekistan, I'm sure there'd be more horse meat). Over a dozen of these hand made dumplings swim in a delicious beef broth, seasoned with dill and parsley. They give a side of sour cream. It doesn't blend well with the broth. I recommend dipping the pelmeni into the sour cream, not vice-versa. For mains, I had something called xolodes. This is a beef aspic. I admit, I asked for this with some trepidation, but never having eaten aspic, I felt I owed it to the food world. It was delicious and intensely beefy. Fresh herbs garnished over the top gave some sprightliness to the dish. The gelatinous cold beef was a texture I wasn't entirely prepared for. Mind you, I love tripe and chicken feet and all sorts of gelatinously textured items. But cold? That is a hurdle I still need to cross, well, cross with more grace. They have a giant menu, with items influenced by the Persians, Arabs, Slavs and Chinese. Hell, they even have an ad for a pancake breakfast pasted up in the window. Only in America!

Looks like Uzbek, taste like undercooked American! Was told they didn't have potatoes so when my wife and I were finishing our dinner the guy beside us magically got what I had ordered and was told they didn't have! Food was ok, but not really good as expected!

Samsa, Borscht Soup, and the Compote drink. All excellent!

I have never tried Uzbekistani food before, so when I saw an Uzbekistani restaurant I knew I had to stop by! This is a very comfortable and welcoming environment. There is lots of seating, and balkan-esque pop music plays over a speaker. Everyone is very kind, my server gave me great suggestions of what to try. I had a Samsa, Borscht Soup, the Compote drink, and traditional lemon tea. Everything was excellent, very flavorful. This was a nice hearty meal after a cold day of working outside. Highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the area.

We stopped here why traveling on a whim and it was soooo good!! We had the fresh salad, Borscht, samsas, and UYGHUR JIZ-BIZ. Everything was delicious. The beef was so tender and the samsa were flaky and savory. Salad was fresh and borscht had great flavor. Would definitely recommend for takeout or eating in. When I went to pick up the food there were people sitting in booths eating dinner and drinking tea! It is like an old Wendy's restaurant and seemed clean inside. I also noticed a prayer room was available.

Half eaten bread, beef kebab (minus a piece), and half eaten Galupsi.

This place is a hidden Gem in Toledo. The food is fantastic. Some of the best food I've had in a long time. Has the quality of a high end restaurant and the taste of your grandma's delicious home cooked food. If you want to get a taste of the east, this is as close to uzbaki food as it gets. Staff is friendly and attentive, place is large and spacious. This place is a must!

This was truly the best restaurant food I have had in years. It is at a truck stop in an old Wendy's building. Kind of a quiet spot though with friendly staff. I've never tried any of these dishes before, but everything I ate from the complimentary bread, salad, beef dumplings, beef pasta and Chayhana black tea, was fresh and delicious.

A hidden little gem! From the outside - it's a small building on the side of a truck stop, but inside its rather quient with a friendly staff and amazing food worth driving an hour for (in our case). Authentic Uzbec food (or what could also be associated with Eastern European cuisine). Prices are great. Portions are good - especially generous soup Portions. Come hungry because you will want to try everything! Lamb plov - rice dish - is hands down spectacular! Cheburek and samsa - absolutely delicious! I wish this place was closer to home!

The food is delicious and the server was so nice and helpful. We loved the picked vegetables and the dumplings were very good as well. We enjoyed their Borscht and my husband loved the whole fried chicken dish they serve. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. We already look forward to our next visit so we can try other dishes!

This is all the oil in one of the food I ordered.

I spend over 200 dollars and the food itself maded me have the runs like nonstop. Either the food was outdated or they don't know how to cook the qubali .They can't make it like afghans. They should quit making it, while they can. The food was so oily and salty. It was waste of money. I couldnt even eat most of it due to; it was so gross and nasty. I don't know why anyone would want to go to this nasty ass Resturant. It's like they're trying to make others have a heart attack with all this oil and salt or what? I'm disappointed that they maded qubali this nasty, even the food in the trash can in Afghanistan taste better then this.

Pelmeni Dumpling Soup before adding the cream
    Tai M.

I wanted something light to eat so I ended up getting the Pelmeni Dumpling Soup. So tasteful... The broth is full of flavor with herbs and a side of soft cream that you mix into the broth to give it a creamy hearty flavor. The medallion shaped dumplings are filled with a good flavored beef meatball... It was so good I had to get one to go .. I'm a truck driver so this will be my go to place when I'm at the truck stop across the street.

Last person in our party was served almost 2 hours after we were seated. He boxed most of his food. We all did. People came and went and staff was wrapping up, we were all ready to leave. How is this ok to arrive anticipating a shared experience and leave paying a premium for carry out? We waited an hour for hummus. We were asked if we wanted appetizers served first, yes, which leaves the expectation that items would arrive timely and in order. One in our party asked for a drink on the house due to the unacceptable wait. And clarified "on the house" a second time. I felt like the acknowledgment was conciliatory and a show of good faith. I regret ordering a second drink based on that. When we got our bills, his drink was on the tab. Was there some disconnect? Plus an automatic 20% gratuity due to "large group" of 7 people. 20% is standard to me, but in this case doesn't help the cause of what might be assumed to be an overburdened server. And makes me think they feel it's the customer that's the problem for expecting anything remotely what the brand implies. The server was congenial initially, but avoided us the longer we waited for our food. No water refills, no updates. I don't blame her for not asking if we needed anything because what we needed was our food ....how uncomfortable....whatever was going on in the kitchen might be making her job miserable. 2 hours on a cozy patio enjoying decent food and drinks, yes. Waiting on food, not so much.
