The restaurant is located near or within a small strip mall at the Holland, OH location. (The Grape Leaf Express location in Toledo, OH located on Monroe St near Franklin Park Mall is also in a strip mall.) The food ordered today included chicken shawarma, yellow rice with vegetables (green beans, corn and peas), hummus, pita bread, and a Greek salad. There was also a dish of grilled vegetables that included squash and zucchini. While I didn't want to be rude and photograph food in the middle of the party, I took some screenshots posted by the restaurant to give you an idea of the food presentation. The salad ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Hummus was perfectly flavored. I always wish that Mediterranean rice had more vegetables, though it was delicious. I found the chicken shawarma a bit salty, but I'm salt-sensitive, so most people probably would love it; the meat was lean. As for the zucchini and squash vegetables, they looked delicious but we didn't have plastic knives, and I couldn't manage to cut them or eat them with the plastic forks. The cashier withheld my coin change without my consent and failed to provide a receipt. When I noticed that later, I considered it completely insignificant and not worth returning to the store for such a small amount. My only intention was to inform them that withholding even a penny without the customer's consent is not acceptable, and I had absolutely no intention of creating conflict, so that I called to inquire. The cashier herself aggressively stated, "Sorry, I forgot to tell you we don't give back cents in this store." When I objected to taking a customer's money without permission, even if it was one penny, saying in Arabic, "ما أُخذ بالحياء فهو حرام" (which means what is taken without permission is forbidden), she shouted a vulgar insult ("Eat sh*t!") and hung up the phone. When I called back immediately, the owner answered, but he allowed the same cashier to scream loudly in the background, using highly offensive and derogatory cultural remark against me. She literally said in Arabic, "بعرفش اتعامل مع النَّوَر", which is a deeply offensive meaning "I don't know how to deal with low-class people." The owner did absolutely nothing to stop her or reprimand her. After all of what happened on the phone, I returned to the store to demand my receipt as proof and legally recorded the interaction for my safety. On camera, the employee proudly admitted to cursing at me over the phone. When asked to apologize, she aggressively refused, saying "In your dreams (فشرتي)." The owner refused to hold her accountable and only offered a hollow apology himself. This whole experience makes me seriously wonder: Do they have any hiring standards at all? Do employees receive any customer service training whatsoever? Anyway, I have submitted all the evidence I have to the Ohio authorities. (P.S. Asked for a grilled cheese without the third slice of bread in the middle, made it a platter with 2 sides, and ordered a 3rd side. Airport associate spoke to Heatherdowns while I was on hold and came back to tell me there was some confusion about the order and the food would be here in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, my food arrives and the driver gets tipped like normal, I know it's not his fault. My dispatchers took the food and gave him the tip while I was busy. I check the food 5 minutes after it arrives and the sides aren't there. I called Heatherdowns and was talked over repeatedly about how the Airport location messed up the transaction and it was their fault but the driver was on the way with my food. When I got a turn to talk, I told him the driver was here and gone with only half my order. He says "Wow I literally told him to grab those just now. He'll run them back out when he comes back." Ok, whatever, I've had a stressful day at work too. More concerned with my work than the food. I wasn't rude or demanding, didn't ask for a discount or anything. Just thanked them for the help and went back to my project. 10 minutes after that the driver arrives and my dispatchers call for me while he chats with them. I can very clearly hear him, from my office down the hall, tell my dispatchers about how I messed up my own order by ordering from the wrong place, as if my dispatchers are going to sympathize with him that I'm a complete moron apparently. So I leave my office to meet him and he leaves the instant I arrived in the room, not a word or a glance at me. My dispatchers laughed about how it went from an issue with his coworker to an issue with the driver. And it did. Nobody blamed the delivery guy until he had crap to talk when he arrived the second time. So they blame each other, and the other location, and me, for them messing up food that took over 2 hours to deliver. And the grilled cheese still had the third slice of bread cooked in it. Go to the Airport location.
