EDIT JANUARY 2025: My family has now been dining at this…read morefamily owned restaurant for a decade now. I will jokingly say, the biggest negative of this restaurant is that it has officially ruined every other Mediterranean & middle eastern restaurant for us. We love it here THAT much. No matter how often we try other places (usually on a Monday, when they're closed), we always want to come back here. The prices have been rising steadily, as has everything around us unfortunately. But one thing that hasn't changed is how incredible their food is, how massive the portions are, what a bang for your buck you get, & how wonderful their service is. The owner & his mom are simply the best, always have a smile, & always so kind & know ahead of time what we want. We do a catering order/family style order quite often, either for holidays or celebrations, and the food is always a hit with EVERYONE. In the few VERY rare times over the past 10 years that some things were not up to their usual quality, they did everything they could to make things right! That speaks volumes at not only how amazing the food is, but how great the owners are. Their lunch special is phenomenal, especially for the price. Literally a few bucks more than what fast food restaurants are now charging for a "combo" meal, but here you get a home cooked gourmet feast. You can't go wrong with anything. Their tender beef filet & chicken thigh kabobs are our favorite. We like chicken breast as well, which is very delicious here, but love that this is one of the rare few restaurants that also offer chicken thigh, which is juicier and more flavorful than breast. Their buttery & fluffy rice pilaf is so "simple" yet is simply the best. Having it soak up the kabob juices or their amazing toum/garlic sauce is the best! Also love the pickles & turnips and other pickled veggies they serve as a free appetizer, along with onion slices. You can't go wrong with this restaurant. It's simple & straightforward. The portions are massive. The taste and flavors & quality of everything, especially their masterful kabobs, is exquisite. I hope Kebab Halebi stays open forever.

I would always order double rice for the family. We will miss you and miss the lovely lady sitting on the right and greeting her customers and making her amazing meals. Great family atmosphere and classic Mediterranean vibes. Please continue to support your local businesses. Sadly its not easy. We will miss this place fondly.

The fresh lemonade reminded me of aqua Fresca. Decent portions. Just wish inflation didn't make the price skyrocket from $13 to $20. Friendly service upon arrival and throughout the duration of my stay. Overall since it was made to order, the food came out fresh and it was fast / quick ~ 15 minutes. Definitely come through if you want healthy, fresh off the grill, yet fast Mediterranean food in the SFV area ! Ambiance was mellow due to show / movie on TV (Hallmark channel) setting the vibes at 9pm. Would like to return with loved ones.

The…read moreportions were generous, the filet mignon was tender, flavorful, and cooked well, and the staff was friendly throughout my visit. My biggest issue was that the meal was simply too heavy. Everything tasted like it had more butter or oil than necessary, and by the end of the meal I felt weighed down. Persian food is often rich, but this crossed the line into feeling overly greasy, which took away from the quality of the ingredients. The zereshk polo and kebab both would have benefited from a lighter touch. The fresh naan was excellent, and I can understand why this place has a loyal following. It's also a good value considering the portion sizes, especially in Los Angeles. Overall, I can see why many people enjoy International Market Grill, but it wasn't quite for me. If you like very rich, hearty Persian food, you'll probably leave satisfied. I personally prefer a cleaner, less heavy preparation. So while I'm glad I tried it, I'm not sure I'd order from here again.

The hummus had a topping of olive oil and garnish that added to the experience. I got a half chicken plate and I was surprised by Miriam that there's three sides for the plate. I was very pleased by that and I felt like it added more substance to my plate. I was very full and super satisfied by my plate!!! I really enjoyed the warmed pita bread and thought it was just the right amount of chewy. The parking lot is large and shared with other businesses and the gym, but there isn't too much trouble to find parking. Miriam was very friendly and great at her job. She reminded me of my Zankou Rewards account to earn points, which you can just simply say your phone number. This is a great spot to eat a meal alone and you'll see plenty of people doing the same!!! They were also actually very fast in ringing out my order. I only sat for a few minutes. Very impressed and satisfied!!! Only thing though, they give 1 garlic sauce and will charge you for extra if you want more.. which sucks. Overall, the interior is big and clean inside, with clean tables and seating. I love zankou so I know I'll be back if I crave their famous chicken!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION…read more I've been going to Zankou Chicken for YEARS and have eaten at multiple locations, and the Van Nuys location is by far the worst one I've been to. They are unbelievably stingy with the portions, especially the chicken. The food is already expensive, yet they barely give you any chicken and then want to nickel-and-dime you for EVERYTHING. Want an extra sauce? Extra charge. Turnips? Extra charge. It feels ridiculous when you're already paying that much for a meal, especially because I've been going to Zankou for years and never remember it being like this. On top of that, the service is painfully slow, and I've repeatedly had issues with the chicken seeming undercooked. If you're going to charge premium prices and extra for every little thing, at least give customers decent portions and properly prepared food. I genuinely like Zankou Chicken, which is why I've continued going to other locations, but this location specifically is terrible. Cheap with the portions, slow service, extra charges for everything, and inconsistent food quality. Save your money and go to a different Zankou location. I would NOT recommend the Van Nuys location.
