Kabul Mix Grille Kabob

We had such a lovely date night on a Friday evening at Kabul Kabob. The ambiance and space is intimate and beautifully decorated. Service was impeccable and our waitresses made us feel so welcomed and took time to explain the menu as this was our first time trying Afghan food. We ordered the Kabul Mix (which was generous in portion and equally delicious) and Mantu as an appetizer (delicious dumplings). Can't wait to come back with a larger group and try the Family Platters!!

08/21/24 - My wife, her brother & I were down by Midway Airport today for a doctor appointment. We had planned on going to Al Bawadi but it was closed out of respect to the Pro Palestinian protesters in Chicago @ the DNC. We were little disappointed but found that there were other offerings across 87th street. Much to our delight we found Kabul Kabob across the street in the large at strip mall. This area of of Bridgeview has a number of middle eastern. Afagan food fuses Its cuisine & has influences from all over -- Persia, the Mediterranean, South Asia and China. We decided to try Kabul House in this mall @ 7265 W 87th St, Bridgeview, IL 60455. We went in & the owner & her daughter & one other woman were there. She was a very gracious host & spent some time explaining some of their dishes. We ordered 2 dishes that came w/Afagan rice had julienne carrots & raisins, chicken & beef kabobs. One dish had a beef Kofta & the other had a lamb kofta blended with onions, garlic, parsley and a few of my favorite Middle Eastern spices including, allspice, cardamom, sumac, and nutmeg. She also brought out a plate that had hummus, cucumber, tomatoes red onions & cilantro. There was also a sweet tomato dish that was absolutely delicious. They also have fresh made pita type bread that was still hot and made fresh right out of the oven, absolutely delicious. The food & service was very good & I will be back when I'm in the area again (unfortunately I'm usually this far south. The little daughter happened to be there today & brought out the appetizer dish w/hummus, sweet red tomatoes & salad of cucumbers, red onions & cilantro. She was mommas little helper. The restaurant had some beautiful Persian lights made of cut pieces of beautiful colored glass.

Turkish Salad, Baba Ghanouj, Tomato Sauce, Naan

was in the mood for some kebab and also wanted to venture into "little palestine" aka bridgeview, IL. we walked in and the owner greeted us immediately. it was empty inside (this was a late lunch, around 3:30 PM) but she mentioned that 90% of their business comes from catering so the restaurant tends to be slow. i actually took this as a green flag lol they have an expansive menu. before our entrees were ready, the owner brought us a plate of turkish salad, baba ghanouj, & a house-made tomato sauce with naan to try, on the house. i'm genuinely still thinking about the tomato, it was so so so delicious. i got the badinjan & my partner got the beef koubideh, both with a side of afghani rice. it was a huge portion for me but my food was so tasty that i cleaned my plate anyway! i fully recommend coming here if you are in the area, the owner was so nice to talk to and the restaurant is decorated nicely inside. i think it should be full to the brim with customers.

Delicious food ! The tenderloin skewers are super good, I don't believe any other restaurant can compete with them. Service was great , they served complimentary hummus and baba ghanoj

This place is smack dab in the middle of one of the best strip malls in the Bridgeview area. The restaurant is one of many tasty halal options in the area. We ordered the mantu, the beef koubideh, chicken koubideh, and the mixed grill. One issue we had was that the mantu had arrived after our main dishes and I wish that the waitress had told us this before since we ordered it as an apperizer. We were told it takes a long time to make. Another issue is that there isn't a second door to block out the Chicago chill, so you're constantly feeling cold in the restaurant. The third issue is that they do charge a fee for sharing dishes, it is $5 per person. The food is absolutely amazing! The beef is tender and the appetizers of humus and Baba ganoush and a tomato salad is scrumptious with hot bread. They automatically include tip if your party is 5 and over.

Why haven't I come here before?! Unfortunately Bawadi and Nile take away from Kabul Kabob, but this is definitely up there with them. I actually love the Afghan flavors a little more than Bawadi. I love the rice with the carrots and raisins, you can't get that in the other Arab restaurants. The food was delicious. I especially loved the shank and lamb chops. Can't wait to come back.

Great food and ambience, best lamb I had in a long time. The service was out of this world and it sure makes a whole lot of a difference. Excellent experience.

Went there for the first time for an indoor dining. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. This place has an excellent quality authentic Afghan food, very good service. Ambions are nice and this place is very well organized. I abouslty loved their Lamb Tikka. It was perfectly cooked, great balance of seasonings and spices, served with the Qabuli Rice ($2 upgrade). Over all an excellent experience, I would highly recommend them.

My first time at this place. We ordered lamb chops , Kabul mixed grille, salmon kabab, naan, tea, appetizers which included a plate with salad, baba ghannouj, hummus and an onion/tomato/chilli based dip. The Naan arrived piping hot and fresh. The tea was spot-on with a hint of cardamom. The lamb chops were grilled perfectly. Not overly cooked or spiced..perfectly tender and juicy. Same goes for kababs (chicken/beef/salmon). The kabuli pulao accompanying the mixed grille was as authentic as it can get...very mildly spiced to perfection with super-long flavorful basmati rice. I have to say these were the best lamb chops I've had in a while. Will definitely be visiting again.

The interior is a lot nicer than it would seem from its strip mall location. The kabobs are seasoned well and have some spice to it. The owner/manager(?) is super friendly, but always hustling. The kabuli palaw is fall-of-the bone tender, definitely should give it a try! I've had dine-in and carry out. They do take care of the carry out. The food is presented nice even after I get it home. I couldn't say it's a hidden gem because a lot of people know about this spot, the dine-in is busy (but not crowded). It's a well-known gem.

What may seem like a quiet restaurant in a quaint plaza is an absolute hidden gem. Staff is warm and welcoming. We ordered to-go and inside was very clean. Our first time trying Afghan food and this place knocks it out of the park. We split a combination #3 I believe that included chicken shish, beef kabob, and lamb chunks (I forget the proper name, my apologies). All three were tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Almost citrusy and spicy, a front flavor of cilantro in almost everything- we absolutely devoured it all. My husband couldn't believe how much he loved the chicken. It came with hummus and an onion tomato salad. The meats were placed on a beautiful piece of bread that was cut into pieces almost and soaked some of those meat juices. Superb. Came to about $22 I believe. We also shared a chicken soup- do not skip!! Add the green sauce! Thank me later. And lastly the Mantu- ground beef stuffed dumplings in a tangy yogurt, tomato savory topped sauce. I truly can't explain it. Top five dishes I've ever had no joke. I added some green sauce and I already can't wait to order it again. Next time I'm buying a bottle of green sauce! It was $9 for that app with about nine pieces. Next time I look forward to trying their popular lamb dish and their Nakod, a cooked chickpea app in a gravy. Can't wait for another great meal for a great deal!

The standout for me was the chicken soup--rich, creamy, and packed with flavor in a way that feels both comforting and indulgent without being heavy. It's the kind of dish you go back for more than once. The variety of rice offerings was equally impressive, each with its own distinct seasoning and texture--from light and fragrant to more savory, spiced options that pair perfectly with the rest of the meal. The chicken dishes on the buffet were tender and well-marinated, with a depth of flavor that clearly comes from careful preparation rather than shortcuts. I also appreciated the small touches that round out the experience. The tea was warm and soothing, a perfect complement to the meal, and the dessert selection added a nice, subtle sweetness to finish without overwhelming you. Overall, Bamyan Kabob delivers a well-balanced, flavorful lunch buffet that feels both hearty and thoughtfully prepared. It's a place that doesn't just fill you up--it makes you want to come back.

And that's why I was attracted to Bamyan Kabob. I drive down Lincoln Avenue every week it seems, and guess what, there's Bamyan that I'm seeing out of the corner of my eye. So I finally came in, at least three (3) times now and I really enjoy the greetings from the employees, they are very friendly. They also have videos showing how the food is prepared and cooked, which is very insightful. As for the food, definitely get the mantu entree, these are the beef pot stickers, these are incredible. I would also select the steak and chicken kebabs with salad. Although we've asked for rare steak, it's been on the medium well side. But both the steak and chicken breast cubes are still very juicy. Excellent service too, in this neat and clean environment. When it was warmer, we sat in the outdoor enclosed area and that was cool, literally.
