I went to dinner here on a Saturday at 5:30. I have recommended this restaurant to so many people before, but I haven't been here for awhile and was not as impressed anymore. On a Saturday night at an early seating, they were already out of lagman and manti. The apricot compote juice was very watered down and didn't taste as good as the last time we had it.. The food was still good, but not as tasty as before. The worst part of the whole experience was when she gave us the check with an extra credit card fee (around 2.5%). When we asked if the fee would still be applied if paid by cash, the server said yes. We were very disappointed and we won't be back again. We went with friends who has never tried Uzbekistan food before, and we don't think they want to come back to this restaurant again after this experience.

Curious about food from Central Asia? I sure am. Wasn't disappointed by this neighborhood place. Had the Olivier salad, a combination potato eggs and beef in mayo- fascinating and enjoyable. Also had the Plov a beef and rice dish- the beef was tender and vegetables cooked. I presume designed to be comforting. I'd like to continue down the menu!

My wife's friend mentioned this restaurant. Since we really enjoyed Anjir Restaurant recently, we had to give this place a shot. The sign outside the building says Chinor, but inside it says Chinar. The interior is nice and spacious, and feels fancy. No booth seating, just tables & chairs. The menu is pretty extensive. We ordered manti (dumplings), a beef samsa, lagman, and plov. The manti was really good, but seemed slightly less flavorful than Anjir's manti. The samsa was excellent; the beef chunks inside were nice and meaty, and the outside was a nice flaky dough. The lagman was super flavorful, and the veggies were cooked nicely. Some places chop veggies large (maybe to save time) and barely cook them, so it's like eating raw veggies. Even the noodles were cooked perfectly; not al dente, not soggy. The plov (traditional rice and meat dish) is the best I've had from any Uzbek or Afghan restaurant. The rice was moist, the fatty meat was tender and bursting with flavor, and the carrots were cooked to the point of caramelization. They have cakes in the back counter that you can buy. They even have raw meat skewers that I believe you can buy so you can grill at home. Side note -- they state 100% halal on their FB and Instagram pages, but I didn't see any certification inside. Service was friendly enough. Kind of on the pricy side, but it's a nice sit-down restaurant, not fast casual, so overall I'd say reasonable. We really enjoyed our meal here.

Excellent food from Uzbekistan! We tried Home Samsa, Bread for Appetizer, Fruit Compote. We shared Jiz Biz, Salmon Kebab, Honum, Kazan Kebab and Tandoor Lamb. Every single dish was extremely tasty. Lamb was very tender. Our server was very polite, provided his recommendation which were very good. We did not have to wait too long for our food. Restaurant was very clean, well decorated, had soft background music. To summarize, if you are looking for an authentic Uzbek experience, go no further. Stop by and experience some very tasty and delicious Central Asian cuisine! We will definitely be back!

Nice lively place. Tgrre was no wait , we were seated promptly . The service is slow they need to work on it. Food is good. Servings are not too big. So you must order two of each. Over all it's an ok place and something different.

So the space here is mostly taken up with pizza boxes and a long food service table, with a narrowish aisle to order your food / desserts. They have meatballs; various pizza slices and whole pizzas (unlike the new place next door, they'll serve you slices all day); lasagna and manicotti. There are other things but I'm a vegetarian so I zone out the minute I see "sausage." Vegetarian? They default to a marinara red sauce and vegetable is one of the default slices. I didn't see eggplant parmesan on the menu, but they told me if I ask for it (advance notice would be helpful) they'll make it. Entrees are served hot. The manicotti and lasagna are delicious; the manicotti is not a big pan but a take-out container with two manicotti rolls; will feed one hungry person but wouldn't be enough for two people. Service is still friendly although the space is now a little cramped. The cake and gelato, etc. are still delicious, so I stand by everything I said about dessert in my earlier review.

It was better than most gelato places I've been to. I can taste the ingredients well. Quantity- they give a fair amount for the price. 2 scoops for 6 bucks. It's tucked in an industrial park area, but there's plenty of parking and the service is just as warm and welcoming as their other location in Morton Grove! There's even a picnic table outside for anyone wanting to enjoy their hot empanadas right then and there. They offer a well priced lunch special that's $16 for 2 empanadas, 2 sauces, a side, and a drink! It's a great deal! I got several empanadas - Butter chicken which tastes just a delicious plate of homemade butter chicken wrapped in a flaky baked crust. It's not spicy, but spiced well for all the flavors! Philly Cheesesteak our family favorite. Cheesesteak in an easy to hold flaky crust. I kinda wish there was a little more cheese, but they don't skimp on the meat! Chicken pot pie, another tasty empanada. They top it with a sprinkle of fresh rosemary which isn't quite a favorite for our family, but it's pretty easy to remove most of it. It has all the fixings and flavorings of a warm, comforting pot pie! Mac and cheese - who would have imagined it could be an empanada, but it is and it's tasty. My son loves this because he really loves Mac n cheese and loves the empanada crusts. I got the elote as a side which is buttery and salty, a good side to accompany the meal. Fresh corn that crunched which made us happy. I also got the longonisa fried rice! If you never had longinisa, it's a must try. Imagine it to be similar to Chinese sausage, but less cured and just delicately seasoned. Everything about this fried rice made me wish I had more. I'll be returning to pick up some frozen take and bake so we will have them handy whenever the craving hits.

Their website states this as well. They have an online ordering system which I utilized and it was easy to navigate. My order was ready at the provided ETA too. I had the Argentina beef empanada and also the Ube horchata. The empanada is wildly delicious. Very flavorful. The crust is fluffy and crispy at the same time. The beef itself is seasoned and cooked perfectly. I had it with chimichurri sauce and it went well with it. The Ube horchata was meh for me. I wanted to try it though and I'm glad I did. Just isn't for me. I'll save room for more empanadas next time.

I had the pick two, which was a half a sandwich (grilled cheese) with a half salad (kale Caesar). The salad was so good! Fresh, crisp and lightly dressed. However, the grilled cheese was pretty sad. I opened it up and there was hardly any cheese. It was just like eating two pieces of grilled bread. They need to improve on that for sure. I also had their 12oz wildflower latte which was very tasty, but served lukewarm and not hot. If the milk is not steamed, it will bring down the temperature of the coffee. I like my specialty coffees served hot. I do have to say every staff member we came in contact with was friendly. They seemed happy and were there to help and answer questions. You place your order at the counter, and you receive a number which you display at your table. There are two dining areas with tables and a few booths to dine at next to where you place your order. Members of the staff bring your order to the table. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. Even with the sad grilled cheese sandwich which was disappointing and the lukewarm latte, I would definitely go back to Blackberry Market again to try other items on their menu. I'll pass on the grilled cheese, though.
