Khyber pass biryani (Enough for 2-3 ppl)

Lunch specials till 3pm with good options. I haven't eaten at this place in years however it is still as good as I remember. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is still calm and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food seasoned perfectly and delicious. I started with soup mughlai gosht soup and it was excellent. I also had the Khyber pass biryani. It took was delicious and included shrimp, lamb, and chicken with a yogurt sauce. Taj mahal was eXtra cold; small beer size. Service was quick and the food was hot. Waiter was kind but didn't smile or talk much. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Entire venue holds about 40-50 people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Street metered parking or paid lots.

This place is hands down my absolute favorite Indian food restaurant in the west suburbs of Chicago. I'm so loyal that I only ever recommend here to all out of town visitors.

Khyber pass is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the suburbs. The food is always on point and the service is always fantastic. They know their menu very well and are always happy to offer recommendations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall vibe of the restaurant transports you.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also love that they have some menu items that are not always easy to find. The Shrimp Tikka Masala is AMAZING! The shrimp are fresh and the sauce has just a little kick of spice. The garlic naan (always a classic) is buttery, garlicky, and always made to order. Overall, this is a must visit if you're in Oak Park.

4/5...I got curious, its hard to find a proper and consistent indian joint sometimes.... hit or miss. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This one offers good service, dimmed lights, tasty but small/ pricey portions, clean environment and quality ingredients.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Samosas are not "right out of the oven" fresh but the Naan is... definitely get the Kyber Naan... garlic and cheese is proper! The meat cuts are quality and the sauces are good enough to want more. I can tell it's not entirely made from scratch per order and some things are prepared earlier, but its still flavorful enough to enjoy. (The orders came out quick..if you get what i mean) As far as price and portions... you're going to easily spend 20$ on a main plate, and 7$ on an appetizer. I'd go far as to say the appetizer and the main dishes are similar in size. (Yikes) Expect to pay 70$ for two people breh... Its Oak Park afterall..mmmrite?? Next time, I wont order the saucey main meals because its mostly sauce and a few cubes of quality meat. Moving forward, im getting an all meat dish without sauce to get my real money's worth. Paying $20 for a sauce themed plate like Marsala or Butter Chicken leaves a weird feeling in my wallet in general. Overall:: I'd come here again.. BUT for their lunch specials for myself. If you bring a date or the entire family, be prepared to drop some serious $$$. Its quality, clean and flavorful. If you dont want to drop serious money for the experience, this one isn't for you...order a pizza fam. Is it the best Indian joint in Chicago? No.... BUT Is it better than 70% the other spots around the city, perhaps .... Ill be back for their all lamb plate or chicken tandoori. That's the real winner I noticed based on the pictures and reviews. Also want to try their mango lassi (no ice)

I had the Vegetable Pakora and Chicken tikka masala. The Pakora was good; like a fritter, veggies battered and deep fried. Good dipping sauce came with it. The chicken tikka masala was awesome. Such tender flavored chicken in a very tasty sauce with rice & salad on side. Excellent combo presentation. Will definitely be back!

Omg. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. There was nothing made incorrectly or poorly. Even as leftovers, the food reheated really well and tasted just as good as it did when fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was perfect and the vibes were there, like you're going to a family member's house for lunch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's so clearly owned and operated by people who care and want to share their culture. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the decor and general ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

As soon as I walked in, I saw so many goodies I knew I was taking home. They had a very well curated selection of fancy condiments from small makers, rare ingredients, and the highest quality version of many every day foods! Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had to try one of their sandwiches and got the salmon po boy at their recommendation. It was really well seasoned and super fresh with a very generous slice of fish on it. Definitely coming back for another one next time I'm in the area! Carnivore in Oak Park…read more This is a butcher shop and fish market that also sells sandwiches I can't really decide if the old time decor is by design or if the place is really needing an upgrade. I actually think it's the latter. It's a lot smaller than I imagined with very limited seating. We went here for the grilled salmon sandwich. We had seen many online reviews saying it is amazing. They make the sandwiches right in front of you, so you know that they are fresh. We took our sandwiches to go and by the time we got them home , they were cold. The fries traveled well, but again they were also cold bu the time we got home. The grilled salmon sandwiches were very good, but not great , and I really would have loved to have eaten it warm. Prices are on the high side for the butcher meats. But I guess you should expect that since they are an artisanal butcher. I did not like the look of some of the meats in the cases. Would we go back? Maybe to try the Bacon Burger. But we would definitely recommend eating your food in the butcher shop and not taking it to go. I have just found out that that are moving into Carnival Grocery in Oak Park.

The bread service was fantastic. The tomato focaccia and the baguette were both excellent and I had to remind myself not to fill up on it before the main meal! LOL! We started with the calamari which was very well seasoned and clearly not the typical frozen version you often see from foodservice distributors. It tasted fresh, was crispy, and well prepared. For dinner I ordered the margherita pizza which was simple and delicious. I ended up ordering a second one to-go for my partner who couldn't make it to dinner. He also loved it - even after it sat for ~30 min or so while we chatted more, then drove home to the Maywood area. I would imagine their delivery is pretty good based on that! My mom had the rigatoni vodka with added crumbled Italian sausage which she loved, and my dad ordered the Marcelino. He loved the generous amount of seafood and how well seasoned it was. My parents are big wine drinkers and my dad was especially impressed with the wine list and the selection available. Oscar was an incredible server!! He struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still letting us enjoy a relaxed, unhurried evening. The support staff and food runners were also fantastic and very friendly, making the entire service experience feel polished! I also loved the kitchen was more open which gives you confidence in the quality and care that goes into the food. The dining space is inviting with a nice bar area and an additional room that looks perfect for busy nights or private gatherings. Overall a great restaurant that we would absolutely return to!!

Went to the buffet and had tried their shrimp cocktails (not peeled), raw oyster, smoked salmon, mini croissant, pastries, and quiche. The buffet also had crab claws, muffins, fruit, and salad that I didn't have a chance to try as I was getting too full. The smoked salmon was my favorite. The quiche had two types; salmon was salty and the other I think spinach was too egg yolk taste. Both were dense and not light. Oysters were fine and didn't get sick afterwards. For the entree, I originally wanted the lobster toast, but the waiter mentioned it is a small dish. So I choose the Herb crusted white fish, which was really delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and was juicy. Came with mashed potatoes and spinach. Then, for dessert I had tried the lemon bar and crème brûlée. Both very good. I did see someone else order the crab cake royal, it was a decent size and looked bigger in person than the photo I found on yelp. Would probably try that if I have a chance to come back.
