Great Food Alhumdolilah, I love that they bring out Fresh Naan, Hummus, cucumbers, and a Turkish Salad for free if you order at least 2 entrees. The Mantu were different but good, really liked the combination of daal, and ground beef in a dumpling topped with a yogurt sauce. The food was fantastic!!! My husband and I happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to give this place a try. Wow!!! We have been to other restaurants in the area several times, but this place was really good. Our appetizer and entrée was enough for us to be quite stuffed. The seasoning was great. The meat was moist and I am not a true lamb eater, but this lamb was so flavorful. When we return, and we will be back, there are definitely other appetizers and entrées we are going to try. Disappointed to be giving this place a bad review. I was really looking forward to eating here and drove 30 minutes to try it out. Simply put, the plate we ordered was not very appetizing, the prices are too expensive for what you get and where you are (strip mall in bridgeview, plates average $15-$20), the portion is too small for how much you pay, and the chicken koubideh was inedible (it was so bad). Not to mention the place has the audacity to charge $.59 extra if you use a credit card (not about the price just weird and the plates are already expensive enough so they are making their money) and upcharges you $1 for the Qabouli rice (this is an afghani restaurant this rice should be standard). The worst part of the evening is complaining to the waiter about the terrible Koubideh. The guy just said okay and walked away. The koubideh was worse than the texture of a McChicken. It was like a sponge, so chewy and gross. We asked the waiter if they microwaved the meat to warm it because it came out within 5-10 minutes of us ordering it. We left it untouched because it was so bad. I'm familiar with afghan and Persian food and have tried many restaurants. I'll be sticking to noon-o kabob and Kabobi in Chicago for this type of food big disappointment. read more

My in-laws and husband LOVE this place. So much so that we have been here 5 times since it opened in late spring. For me, I like this place. But then again, I am pregnant and don't want to eat most of the food they serve here and it is really is frustrating that they still don't have the mantu on their menu. At this point, remove it because there is no reason that this far into operations, they still never seem to have it. Also, this past weekend, were there again for dinner and the soup wasn't ready (at 7:30pm) and they did not have the salad I wanted. Seriously? It was a long weekend. You would think they would be better prepared. The young servers are easily flustered and often times forget things that have been ordered. I am hoping that in time they will learn tips and tricks to ease their stress in doing a job that relies so heavily on customer satisfaction. So, though the service can be lacking we keep going back. Why? Because we are welcomed warmly and treated with a lot of respect each time we go. The owners are incredibly hospitable and kind. We are made to feel like family whenever Marjan (wife of the owner) is around. Even my daughter loves to see and talk to her. The food is made with love and you can taste it in every single fresh bite. The atmosphere is welcoming and clean something that can be lacking in a lot of mom and pop south Asian establishments. A good friend of mine recommended this place and I went to this place last night for Iftar Buffet with my wife. All I can say is I was simply blown away. I had the same feeling when I was introduced to Al-Bawadi 10 years ago and thought no one will ever be able to top that and this place did. The food was fresh and super delicious. Delicious food! We got the family platter which has koubideh beef, lemon chicken, chicken tikka and sirloin tikka. It comes with half white rice and half qabuli rice. Baba ghanoush, hummus, salad and Turkish salad. The qabuli rice is so good! The chicken is juicy and tasty. It says it serves 5-6 people but we were 8 people (5 grown men) and we had some leftovers.
