Very disappointed with the food and service. Came as a family , 11 people all excited after hearing about this restaurant. We called before hand to order one full plater, once we got there they told us that they ordered two platters for us because one wouldn't be enough and made us pay for it even though we did not want it. When asked for water they gave us water bottles and charged for all of them without telling us. Did not enjoy the food at all. First platter was not even finished and took a full one home. They also Sold out of soup and many dishes we asked for. Do not understand which restaurant orders the food for you and makes you pay for it without wanting it, beyond ridiculous. Each platters is $110 and they charged us $300 and added a $40 tip by themselves. Very disappointed and not returning again, food was not worth the price at all. I found this place through yelp reviews and gave it a shot. The service was friendly and responsive. The food was seasoned well and fresh, albeit a bit dry. I went with the waiter's recommendation and ordered the combo kabob. Lots of food for a decent price. The soup was small and bland. You would think they would serve it with at least one pita. Nothing. The bill came. There was an extra up-charge for a special rice, which I wasn't asked about and didn't order. They also added an up-charge for using a credit card. We had a large catering order placed from Kabul Kabob for an office party today and not only was the customer service phenomenal, the food was amazing. There were plenty of succulent meats brought to our office straight from the grill and they were piping hot when delivered. The hummus and babaganush were delicious and tasted freshly made and the 2 different salads that were provided were delicious. The authentic Turkish salad and Afghan style salad are 2 types of salads that you may not find at any other restaurant. Do yourself a favor and order from here for any office party, family party, wedding, and holiday party! Went here for the first time with my husband and a friend of his who had never tried middle eastern food before. We had passed by it a few times and thought why not give it a try. It is located in the plaza connected to the Nut House and Crescent pharmacy. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the host and seated. Our waiter was awesome, he was very personable and was great in providing suggestions from the menu. My husband and his friend both got the Afghan Mix Grill and I got the Kabul Mix Grille. We also ordered an eggplant appetizer to try. The meal came with a mezza-style salad, olives, and a creamy yogurt, as well as a small bowl of lentil soup that came with a wedge of lemon. Make sure to squeeze that lemon in the soup--delicious! We also opted for the Qabuli rice on the side of our dish in replacement of the regular rice and Im so glad we did. It had Afghan spices, raisins, and shredded carrot. Everything was absolutely delicious. Very fresh, excellent portions, not to mention the price was very reasonable for such high quality food. The Afghani spices really made these traditional dishes pop. I really wanted to try the desserts but I was way too stuffed. I will definitely be back to try those next time! read more

EXTREMELY rude staff. I went in to order bread. It has been years since I was in Bridgeview and decades since I had afghani bread. I was excited there was an afghani restaurant. I asked if I could purchase the bread which was listed/priced on the appetizer portion of the menu. The manager/staff member was so incredibly RUDE saying they did not sell the bread separately. She could have easily been kind enough to politiely say hey we're sorry we don't do that but you can check out a bakery near by. Will NOT ever be visiting this place EVER. Hands down one of the finest customer service experiences I have had. From start to finish we were taken care of as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered 3 of their family platters since we had a large group and it was an overwhelming amount of food. But man was it amazing. Such delicious hummus, baba ganoush, and this tomato onion dip that blended all together on soft, hot bread. The meats are very good. I liked the lamb the most, followed by the chicken. The rice with raisins and carrots had too much citrus in it. I have had Afghan food many times before. In comparison to other places I have been, it ranks with other very good restaurants. The service is excellent and friendly. I would definitely go back. read more

I ordered the kabul and afghan mixed grill to go. The meat, qublani rice, salad and hummus were good and well seasoned. Here are my thoughts on portions and pricing. The meat, salad and hummus were plenty. The rice portion seemed small and half a loaf of pita is really small. I say this because pricing is the same as similar restaurants in the area but portions are slightly larger. The $2 upcharge for the qublani rice seems high already but a small portion makes it seem higher. All in all, the food was tasty and I'd give it another try. I just hope by then the portions reflect price or prices are reduced. Also to be fair I did take the food to go which may be smaller than eating in, I don't know. This can easily be fixed by larger to go boxes. Regardless, I love supporting local business and I wish the owners much success. read more

Let me start off by saying that if I could give them 0 stars, I would. If you're willing to pay $30 per person, and get exceptionally low service with mediocre food, this may be the spot for you. The service was beyond awful and rude - downright distasteful. Let's start from the beginning. First, I came in and wasn't even greeted, not a big deal, and then I had to wait with my family to be seated because the waitress couldn't decide where she wanted us to sit. When we finally got our seats and looked through the menu, there was immediate tension. I asked about a completely different platter and the guy serving us (I believe the owner or the owner's husband) said "I'm telling you to focus on this one!" as though he was the costumer and I was the waiter. Fine, no big deal, we'll go your way, pal. Then, I asked for napkins. Not once, not twice, but thrice! Each time, I would only be given three napkins per request as though it was a privilege and I was dinning alone (I was with six other people!). To put the cherry on top, he would get ridiculously irritated even though I said please and thank you and addressed him as 'sir'. Then, when the food finally came out, there was hardly any sauce! I asked for some more sauce, and it seems as though my family and I came in at the perfect time, because every bowl was dirty and I could only receive this holy grail of a sauce through a measly 1 ounce cup. I can go on and on about how the service isn't justifiable for the price you are paying. And a few more little things happened, but the the end was the most memorable. I asked the server to get me some to go boxes for the food, and she brought them out. It was after that she said, "would you like foils for the bread?" I thought "wow-! Finally, a nice gesture!" And agree. She brings it out, and I put the food into some trays, not paying attention. I should have known better. She takes my bread and touches it with her naked hands, the same ones she used to touch the cash, touch her phone, touch the dirty rags to clean the table, etc etc. My point is, she touched my food with her unclean hands. I finally notice and I tell her "please don't touch a customer's food without gloves on." For some reason, this angered her so much that she had to argue with me about the cleanliness of her restaurant as though I said anything about it. Her husband also butted in and argued with me too, and asking me "what do you do for a living?" What? Excuse me? Why are you making this so personal when I asked that you not touch my food with you bare hands? The woman also taunted me by saying, "I'll clean the tables with gloves on then!" ...Seriously? Overall, the food, "hospitality", and price were not worth it. Save yourself the hassle. read more

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our lunch. The service was excellent. Our waiter recommended splitting an appetizer and a dinner entree. We had the batter dipped shrimp which had a wonderfully light rice batter. It was served with a tasty sweet dripping sauce. For the entree we chose the Kabul Mix Grille. We received generous portions of seasoned and marinated minced beef, marinated lamb cubes and marinated chicken thigh cubes which had been grilled on skewers. They were accompanied by Qabuli rice, salad, grilled tomato and onion. For additional flavors there were a delicious garlic sauce and a spicy sauce for dipping. The flavors were just wonderful. For dessert we shared a Firni (a light rice pudding) made by the owner's mother which was quite tasty. We highly recommend this taste of Afganistan. We most certainly will be back. read more

We come from MKE to Bridgeview often, and have tried most Arabic restaurants in the area. This place is one of my top 3. We dined in, and received great service. Our waitress was welcoming, attentive, and very professional. As we waited, she prepared our table, and brought us an appetizer plate. It was delicious and fresh, and a meal all on its own; cucumber, tomato, and lettuce salad...a giant basket of grilled pita...baba ghanoush...hummus.. and dipping sauce. We ordered the Chicken Tikka grill, and Lamb shanks. Both entrees came with choice of rice, and a side of grilled onion and tomato. I grew up in the area and the region was kinda a dessert in the international food scene except for Mabenka's on 79th. Finding this gem along with a bunch of other amazing spots for Middle Eastern. Be sure to try the eggplant appetizer the Traditional Afghanistan dish with fresh warm pita bread dipped into it is pure heaven. Came here by accident it was my sisters 13th bday the wait across the street was so long. We decided to walk over to this restaurant. I'm so glad we took the chance. Everyone was so nice! They went out of their way to make my sisters bday special by making the ambiance beautiful. Played the happy birthday song on their speakers when bringing out the cake we got for her!
