Placed a pick up order Thursday night around 7:20 PM and it was ready within 15 minutes, which was great. The paneer tikka masala was very delicious and the cheese was tasty. I wish there had been a little bit more of it in the sauce. The rice was well cooked and soft. The garlic naan was warm and wrapped in tinfoil. everything came in its own container and was very hot, which was fantastic. there's plenty of seating inside and it is open until 10 PM. They have some lively music on the TVs and it is a very chill laid-back ambience. read more

This is a takeout only review, but I have gotten takeout from here approximately weekly over the last several months so I feel the 5 star review can be backed up!! Indian food has been my one consistent pregnancy craving, and with Gorkha Palace turning over to new owners and the other options in my neighborhood not doing it, I have settled on India Palace as my go to. Note that I do think the food at this location is markedly better than India Palace Roseville although I do think they are related. The Paneer Makhani is my jam-- so buttery and delicious. As I've said, it's my fave in the cities. My husband likes the chicken tikka masala which has a similar base. The garlic naan is nice and garlicky, and the mango lassi the right consistency. Sometimes I treat myself to some samosas too. Again, always ordering via DoorDash but usually it is delivered to my house within an hour. My go to place for Indian food. The ambience is good and the curries feel authentic. I especially love the butter chicken and the malai kofta on the menu. The service is very quick and the quantity of the food is also quite large. One meal can easily feed two people. They have different spice levels for people to choose, and asking for Hot is actually a spicier more flavorful version of the curry instead of just tasting of lot of red chili powder. Ordered India Palace Uptown for takeout the other day after one friend told me it was great and another friend told me not to believe them so I decided I had to find out for myself. I ordered Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, and Chicken Biryani all at the medium spice level. Overall, it was solid but nothing special in my opinion. The garlic naan was very good and I'm sure it's even better in person. 5/5 The chicken tikka masala was a much smaller portion than I am used to receiving at Indian restaurants and the medium was not as flavorful or spicy as I would have liked. 3/5 The aloo gobi was solid. A larger portion than the chicken tikka and had a better spice level. I enjoyed it. 4/5 The chicken biryani was a great portion size and the best of the 3 entrees. It came with a side of raita which is basically a yogurt sauce and it went really well with the biryani. Once again, I would've liked it to be a little bit stronger flavor and spice level but overall pretty good 4.5/5 And of course it came with a heaping container of basmati rice which was great. It can be quite frustrating when restaurants don't give you enough rice. 5/5 I am new to the Midwest and heard spice levels in the Midwest all get tweaked down one notch compared to other places so maybe it's just an adjustment thing for me, but my spice tolerance is definitely super low and I found the foods only the tiniest bit spicy aside from the aloo gobi. Takeout: Eh, kinda bland, not particularly spicy even with "medium." Dry and boring samosas, good and crispy pakoras, good naan but not very much. Had a hard time ordering for delivery because the menus are different on different sites. There was also a big delivery fee. Decent price for the food. Rice comes with the order but it's unnecessarily packed into annoying containers that put rice all over the place when opening and closing. Probably won't do this place again. What a charming little Indian restaurant? I have passed by this place too many times to count but decided to check them out while I had some family in town. We arrived on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm, no reservations needed and were promptly seated by a very kind hostess. The decor is modern and booth seating options are perfect for groups and couples. The restaurant was fairly busy on this cold winter night and had a cozy inviting feel to it. I ordered the Lamb vindaloo spicy hot. My sister had the Beef vindaloo medium hot. And my Mom had the Lamb Mikhani medium hot. The Lamb Mikhani was so good I think I'll order it the next time I visit. All dishes were served with White rice and it came out in a large pot for us to share. We also ordered Garlic naan and Regular naan to share. The Tamberlin sauce - was perfect with the naan. There was also a Mint sauce but I did not try it. The place ran like a well oiled machine. The staff would come by periodically and check if our rice needed to be refilled, ask if we wanted more naan or anything else, check if we wanted more water or other beverages, and made sure to clear the table as empty dishes to pile up. For a generic North Indian buffet restaurant in a stripmall, India Palace is pretty good and not oily, which is the biggest downfall of most North Indian restaurants. I don't do buffets (which is your only option at lunch at India Palace), so this review is about dinner. Many of their vegetarian dishes are vegan by default, but you have to ask questions (I wish they would label their menu to make it easier). The vegetable samosa ($5) was solid, with a nice crispy outer shell and well-seasoned potato innards. The dal ($11) is creamy and savory and vegan by default. They do a good job of it. The matar mushroom ($12) has fresh mushrooms in a light gravy with green peas. It's also vegan by default and pretty good. Lastly, the bhindi masala ($14) features nicely-cooked okra in a savory tomato-onion saute. This is a dish that's easy to make an oily mess or gummy horror show, but here they executed on it perfectly. The roti ($2.50 per piece) was soft and well done. It's vegan if you hold the butter. The service is friendly and the space is unassuming. I can't think of better North Indian food in Minneapolis, but my general preference would still be for the lighter, fresher and more creative dishes at Nepalese restaurants (such as Namaste Cafe a block away or Gorkha Palace in Northeast). read more

They also have super good samosas, I love their lamb ones with the tamarind sauce it's super good. The curries are always creamy, rich and full of flavor. When we asked for some spicy, they just gave us some hot chili thing on the side which means the flavor is not incorporated. We had 5 or 6 dishes and it was forgettable - sweet tomato-y vindaloo with no hear? The naan and Gobi Mere were pretty good, but the gobi is not really an indian dish and bread is always good. This restaurant is my go to Indian food. I've tried many others (some of whom significantly more expensive as well) and none of them compare to this particular restaurant. I can't speak to other locations but this one on Hennepin will always have a place in my heart. The saag and the makani are so so good and flavorful. The garlic naan is always fresh and delicious, the mango lassis are consistently flavorful and not too sweet. The service itself is so good, everyone is so kind. They really care about your experience too. After coming here with no issues for 3 years, they made one little mistake (mixing up the proteins) and I called just to let them know so no one got mad at them (maybe someone was new in the kitchen I'm not sure!) and they immediately opted to correct the issue. They took my name down and remade my food next time I was around no charge and it has been back to no issues ever since. I will always support them. read more

I felt fancy with the white tablecloths and excellent service while wearing my yoga outfit! My friend and I shared garlic naan, paneer naan, chicken tikki masala, chicken korma, both with rice, and each got our own Lassie. A lassie is a fruit and yogurt drink. I had strawberry while my dinner mate had a traditional mango one. Everything was so delicious! It came out at the perfect temperature, with the perfect blend of spices. Their chicken curry is excellent, and mild seasonings = still very flavorful. I like that they have different entree choices, we always get chicken curry plus one other thing. Nothing has blown my socks of yet, but it's all very good. I'm not a fan of their pakora, although it's definitely better when it hasnt spent 15 minutes in a car. My wife and I had a $20 Living Social voucher and decided to hit uptown for our Saturday lunch. It is in a strip mall, with very little parking, so we had to park around the corner. It was a 7 degree day, so the walk was a little chilly. #Edinaproblems. We sat down and I ordered a Taj Mahal bomber, a light lager that lasted the meal. Not bad, not great, just your typical lager beer. I ordered the chicken curry and my wife got the garlic naan. After about 10 minutes, our food came out and it was spot on! The naan was perfect with lots of garlic, and the waiter had asked me how spicy I wanted the curry, I said "Medium-hot" and it came out PERFECT! Really good, just the right amount to fill me up and the basmati rice was plentiful and had a nice nuttiness to it. Our server was awesome, not too intrusive, but there if we needed him.
