I'd been in this neighborhood now for over a year and my Jewish bestie said we should try the Falafel Tanami--but then I saw the signs for Kaff and saw it really appealing. When we entered the pastries are readily available for grabbing on your own (with the given parchment paper to use). I'd gotten a cheese danish and a regular chocolate chip cookie. Y'all, this chocolate chip cookie was genuinely the most tasteful, non-overwhelmingly sweet, and perfectly textured cookie. I love shopping here. The bakery is clean and bright and stocked with delicious looking pastries and breads. They also have a refrigerator with cold salads and chilled desserts. Service is quick. It would be helpful if the individual packages pastries in the front had prices. Nonetheless I enjoy coming here. read more

I was passing by craving some sweets. I entered as i had never been to this place before. I was looking for some small chocolate croissants and a big cookie. The place was very clean and quite. I don't know what they do or how they make their baked good, but whatever it is produces the most delicious, moist, and flavorful desserts and pastries. The donuts and cinnamon babka are always top notch, and if you go later in the day closer to closing time, they will sometimes give you a nice discount. Bakery itself is alright, business should be ashamed. Before they moved into this location, they had a raggedy small place. Now that they moved to a different location, it's more presentable. You can buy from them if you wish, but just remember they discriminate. They post up hiring signs but they're looking for specific gender (even though I have seen males working the counter before) and specific races for the back only. The baked goods are just ok. Got a cupcake, marble pound cake slice, tiramusi, an eclair, and a small coffee under $10. Went around 12:15 noon and it was crowded with young teenage girls who acted like they owned the place. The people who worked their should have asked the girls not to stand in the middle so that other people cannot pass. It was very annoying. They were rude and typical teenage girls grouped together doing what they do at that age. Aside from that, environment is nice, options are great. The items I got just weren't anything special. A little dry but not over priced either so I'm not to upset. Just wouldn't visit again. read more

With so many choices of bakeries on Ave M, Kaff Bakery is my favorite. Went there to get a cake for a friend's birthday and was so impressed with everything it was hard to choose. The cakes are expertly decorated. They have a fabulous salad bar too. Everything is so clean and fresh. I had the teriyaki baked salmon over a salad. I chose olives, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, red peppers and chickpeas! Their Chanukah sufganiyot looked delicious too and bought a few to take with me for the birthday girl. read more

ZERO STARS! I so wanted to like this place, but due the the cashier's racist attitude I won't be returning. The majority of the store is set-up as self serve, it was filled with Orthodox Jewish school children. All of their self-serve pastries are uncovered and exposed to dust and germs which is quite gross. I got a small cup of coffee and some cookies by the pound, which were the only baked goods I thought where sanitary because they are in a glass case. Apparently when you buy any kind of pastry, a small cup of coffee is free - I didn't know or really care about this and was ready to pay for everything. The cashier REPEATEDLY asked me what was in my cup, she kept insisting that it was a cappuccino which is not free. She then implied that I was being dishonest and attempting to abuse their free coffee policy, saying that they value 'honestly and loyalty' in their customer and questioned if I was being 'honest and loyal'. If she had dared to open my coffee cup, I would have just left everything there and walked out. I was the only one being treated and questioned this way in a store filled with people. I have lived in this neighborhood for 6 years and frequent many Jewish owned businesses, never before have I experienced such racism. MESSAGE TO THE OWNERS: Our neighborhood will continue to diversify, you should train your staff to not be racist if you care about your black and brown skinned customers. read more

Cookies and pastries are under cooked.cakes have no taste. Mocha roll does not have any taste of Mocha. I went last Friday around 4 pm.i waited at register to pay but took forever. I asked another lady who was walking around killing time to closing,whispered in other fat girl's ear and never got an answer.i left mad,then half way I thought I overreacted,came back and grabbed cake went to pay ,I waited but no one wanted to help me,then I called the fat girl and with her broken English,rudeness and disrespectful face told me this register is closed we are closing now !!!!!! Before I left the store mad the first time, she was struggling and pretend to relate to a CUSTOMER by asking him, How was the wedding ??? How is your son and so on ... So I had to leave because I was ignored and mistreated,less than two minutes I came back hoping the other CUSTOMER is done along with their conversation,everything was closed !! I hope the owner would have the decency to look or review this incident and I leave the judgment to him.... This is a great bakery! A small neighborhood bakery. Always clean and stocked with a great fresh selection. They make a really good parve (non-dairy) birthday cake. I tried their new whole wheat artisan bread which was delicious. I have brought their challah to big dinners and it always gets rave reviews. They sell great lunches ready to go. Cheese blintzes were delicious! It was packed, creamy and delicious, and the wrap(?) was light and perfectly suited to the filling.

I feel compelled to write an update after I ended up in this bakery again (the other one across the street was closed) This time I bought a cheese danish which was HEAVENLY! It had the fluffiest dough ever. While I still wouldn't recommend their cakes, their pastries are goooood! read more
