Came to Kahala Mall today for the Mom Made Market. This is a great location for this event especially since it is raining today and this is an inside mall. I really enjoy coming to Kahala Mall because they have so many specialty stores here and great places to eat. The Mom Made Market was spectacular. These moms creations were absolutely beautiful. You can see all the hard work and love they put into each of their products and very well made. The mall also had a sidewalks sale with many of the stores offering great bargains and lots to see. Kahala Mall has plenty of great restaurants from salads to steak or if you just want a quick bite you can get a unique musubi from the Musubi Cafe. Plenty of parking, several restrooms scattered around the mall and my absolute favorite Macys. read more

Kahala Mall is a small indoor mall on the east side of the island in the Kahala neighborhood. There are a variety of stores and restaurants here. You can find Whole Foods, apple, Macy's, a bunch of smaller boutique stores, and many different places to eat. They have different events on a regular basis such as toddler time. They also have a movie theater that is currently undergoing some much needed construction. I think the biggest downfall of this mall is the lack of parking and the lack of indoor seating for their multiple eateries. I have to say that they have added some additional seating throughout the mall, but you can barely come here and find a table on a regular basis. There is no specific food court, but there are many small take out food eateries throughout the mall, which requires seating. Many times you have to wait like a vulture till someone gets up to leave. Overall this mall is definitely a place to visit if you want a mall that is not flooded with tourists daily like Ala Moana. There are not as many choices as far as places to shop, but I think it's still worth visiting. read more

This store isn't my home store, but I do frequent here often. I almost lost it when I heard a male employee yell "hurry up so we can go home!". SHAME!! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES AND HAD I OPENED MY MOUTH NOTHING GOOD WOULD HAVE TRANSPIRED. Myself and my two children generally commute 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. This particular evening we had an event at their school so we stopped in at Kahala Panda's as it's easy and inexpensive. I honestly did not know what time it was that they were closing the dining room. A gentle reminder would have been all we needed to keep in mind the time. INSTEAD, all the female employees came to the front and started putting the chairs up around us and even took away the trash bins. I figured it was time that they were closing the dining area. That's fine, no problem. I got the subtle cues so I started consolidating our plates and rubbish so we can go. My daughter had went to the restroom by the theaters so we were waiting for her. I was finishing up eating. The staff was still trying to sell the last minute plates yelling "$7 PLATES" any time someone walked by. ALL THIS STAFF HAD TO SAY WHEN WE PURCHASED/PICKED UP OUR FOOD WAS "just a reminder we close at ______ ". TRAIN THE STAFF BETTER AS THE YOUNG MAN WHO YELLED IT MOST DEFINITELY MEANT FOR US TO HEAR IT!! And the rest of the crew were giggling and I only heard one person say "Shhh!" CHILDISH!!! So this is a manageable air-conditioned mall. It does spread out with stand alone businesses dotting the outside surrounding parking lot areas. Lots to eat, drink, shop...even with a movie theater. Macys, Longs, Whole Foods, Ross, Chili, starbucks are the major players, but other smaller specialty stores give it its charm. See's candy, too. Noticed management is scheduling more entertaining/social events with concerts/performances, bonus gifts and special programs. read more

We do not live near the mall but at times we drive out there just to look around before the pandemic but some takeouts eat and relax. I do like their ambience quiet surrounding shops are cozy and nice. There's a theatre there but never been inside to see any movies. I'm sure it's a place to go for eats and pleasure. read more

You can't go home again part 2 ... I remember Kahala Mall from my small kid days although the mall goes back a ways father than I do. My grandma used to call Kahala Mall The Waialae Shopping Center and was alive when it first opened. Built around November 1954, it's something else that pre-dates Hawaii statehood. In the late sixties/early seventies it was renovated and the name was changed to Kahala Mall. My babysitter (Aunty Eva) used to take me there all the time and I remember breakfast at Woolworth's Coffee Shop. I remember the carpet with Kahala Mall (I think they're) flower logo in various colors and hopping only on the yellow ones. Here's the great thing, I see kids doing the same thing today, not on exactly the same carpet because they replaced it over the years but the same design. Kahala Mall is easy to get to, usually no hassles with parking unless you want to be right outside the door of Wholefoods, and overall it's still geared to the kama'aina which gives it a more laid back and friendly atmosphere than say Ala Moana. You can still find exercising retirees every morning. A lot of business people meet up there throughout the day at the numerous tables scattered everywhere. And families, you still find lots of families and friends shopping, dining, or just hanging out. Yes, over the years things have changed ... and not just the carpet. Liberty House is now Macy's but it's in the same place. Wholefoods replaced Star Market. JC Penney's and Ben Franklin are gone and there are a lot more small stores rather than the department store chains but there's still a nice blend of mainland and local. Kahala Mall is not what I remember but it's still a good place to go and will leave the next generations with fond memories. PS - every Christmas the Salvation Army has an Angel Tree donation booth, usually someplace close to Santa Claus. Yet another reason I like Kahala Mall. read more

Kahala Mall is a medium sized, partially two-story mostly indoor mall that has been around for ages. It's on the ritzy side of town just before Hawaii Kai so you'll find a higher end kind of experience here not just in stores and restaurants but also in it's laid back spacious kind of indoor mall feel. I don't come here all the time but I am here often for various reasons and have seen many stores and restaurants have come and go. Macy's (formerly Liberty House), Longs Drugs, and Consolidated Theaters have been their tenants for quite awhile. There are two banks, one is attached and one is in a separate building. I'm not sure whether the Bank of Hawaii and McDonald's side are part of this mall with what was once a bowling alley (Waialae Bowl) attached to the McDonald's but both have been here quite awhile too. I like this mall bc it has parking all around the mall perimeter so where available, you would be able to park in the area you will shop or dine. There is uncovered and covered parking, a good number of tables and chairs outside and inside the entrance near where Starbucks, Whole Foods, and Jamba Juice are located, and although there are not all that many stores and restaurants, it has curated a wide variety of stores and restaurants. I can find gowns and dresses for parties and special events; clothing for work, travel, and for the summer; good quality sterling silver earrings; gifts for friends both guys and gals; help with my Apple iPhone from both Apple and Verizon; cheerful Hello Kitty and Pochacco items; get a hair cut; find some good books; and even watch a movie. When I need to withdraw funds, I can use the ATM at the American Savings or Bank of Hawaii. Ehen I'm hungry, I can find cauliflower pizza, grilled salmon, turkey burgers, salads, rich thick milkshakes, those gotta-have local favorites like chicken katsu curry and loco moco, conveyor belt sushi, and yummy fancy ramen. It does have a couple set of restrooms, one near to the movie theater, one at center, and inside Macy's if you shop there or inside CPK if you eat there. The restrooms are air-conditioned, well-managed, and quite nice. They do have all sorts of special events here quite often and during Christmas time, I love how they have a display full of bright red christmas poinsettias placed in a wire frame to form a huge Christmas tree. My daughter loves coming to this mall. Hubby, daughter and myself came today but hubby and I have been here a couple times without daughter. My daughter and I love the Sanrio store. The only store that exists in Hawaii! There's no more stores like this on the mainland. The store opens at 11 am. We ended up waiting outside for like 15 minutes before they opened. I love Hello Kitty store here! The mall itself opens up at 10 am but most businesses open up at 11 am. This mall is fairly small compared to other malls I have been to here. Not too many stores around but there's a Macy's. Plenty of parking around the mall. I would definitely come back here to shop. Plenty of security here so that's a good thing. read more

Loved looking around in KB Toys (RIP), and Sanrio, Jeans Warehouse was my high school spot for "trendy" clothes even though I was always late to the fashion party, T&C for all of the gifts for my friends who wore surf brands but never surfed, Long's because that's where everyone goes for everything, and all of the good restaurants: Pearl's (mayo potatooooo!!), Panda (orange chicken all day), Pretzelmaker (nostalgia), Taco Bell/Pizza Hut, etc. Used to go to See's Candies with Granny to get peanut butter patties. Those were the days! Now there is a little food court by McDonald's where the bowling alley used to be. Brug has some good pastries and L&L and Kozo are always making food fresh to order. Even though this mall is "far" for me (about 35 minutes without traffic), it's still one of the best shopping malls because it has the only Sanrio store on the island of Oahu! Another great addition is Ross which replaced Barnes and Noble on the upper level. Other popular stores are Macy's, Longs, Starbucks, and Cookie Corner. I also like Calista because they carry the Citron clothing line and I have gotten some formals there. Foodies like Kahala Mall for The Counter, California Pizza Kitchen, Pizza Hut, and Panda Express. Whole Foods, Kuru Kuru Sushi, Jamba Juice, and Il Gelato are also crowd pleasers. Even though the Consolidated Theater here doesn't participate in Bargain Tuesdays, they do show some artsy and International films. I appreciate their running some non-mainstream movies! "Not too big, not too small" Back in da day, Kahala Mall used to be called Waialae Shopping Center and was an open shopping center, not enclosed. The anchor stores were Liberty House, Longs and Woolworths. Where the two story parking is on the Waialae Ave/Ewa quadrant of Kahala Mall is, there used to be a free standing Restaurant called Reuben's and the rest of the area was open ground parking. A trip to Waialae shopping center was always a treat- so many things to see, all within a rocks throw of Kaimuki. Freshly carved sandwiches at Woolworth, the holiday displays at Liberty House, da ono snacks at Longs, a childhood playground for elementary schoolers- the beginning of the mall rat phenomena. Leap forward to the present day- stores have come and gone. The only anchor store left is Longs. The shopping center is now an enclosed mall catering to current tastes and thinking. They have a multiplex theater, they have two Starbucks locations ( including the first drive thru location in Honolulu). They have three Pokémon Go virtual gym locations (had to throw that plug in) and a great assortment of places to eat and drink including CPK, The Counter, Chilis, gelato and Crepes to name a few. Their beautiful center fountain location is home to free entertainment throughout the year, especially during the holidays. And from about Thanksgiving to the New Year the fountain is replaced by a beautiful poinsettia holiday tree to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Enclosed air conditioned Mall, lots of seating areas, good mall security, a nice selection of stores, Kahala Mall is a great place to shop and dine- not too big, not too small. read more

Although this is a once in a Blue Moon visit here for work it's really nice to get away from the west side of Oahu despite the traffic coming here and what not. This mall is one of my favorites to come and just chill if not shopping because it's an air-conditioned mall and it's very mellow during the weekdays. Bigger isn't always better. I like that you can walk the entire mall without feeling like you'd benefit from the use of an electric wheelchair. The shops and eateries offer the basic necessities, and some specialty items also. They've got the main food groups covered: pizza, sushi, burgers, and ice cream. I've eliminated most of that since choosing to follow a keto/paleo lifestyle, but will indulge occasionally. Whole Foods would be the main reason I come here, but I also like the Compleat Kitchen. It's packed with essential cooking and baking tools, and unusual/cute gadgets that are useful and fun. A smaller, more relaxed and less intimidating Apple store is also appreciated. Indoor/outdoor tables invite people to sit and converse, study, enjoy food, snacks, etc. Although it's not the most quiet study environment, it's great for smaller groups that want to discuss class topics, vent, or cry. read more

Have been visiting this indoor mall since days of taking "mental health days off" from school as my High School was just a 10 minute bus ride away. Back then it was for air conditioning, little novelty knick knack shipping, and the best fried chicken at the now gone Woolworth. Today, Kahala Mall has transformed into a more modern, still hangout place with lots of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating just out side of Whole Foods. Now home to the popular CPK, the Counter, Chili's, IL Gelato, (2) Starbucks, Jamba Juice, a whole bunch of fast food counters and multiplex movie theatre. For the younger part of my life, we were "townies". We lived in Hawaii Kai/Kaimuki for a bit and this was probably our go to mall during those times. I only remember there being a Carousel Candyland, Sanrio, Macy's and See's because those were my favorite places in the mall. When I went to beauty school, this became one of our go to spots for grabbing coffee in the morning. Or picking up dinner when we didn't feel like sitting in evening traffic. Honestly, this mall is bleh to me. It doesn't have anything special for me to go out of my way for. Its just there. I'm glad they have lots of great eateries, but its way too out of the way for me to bother with. If I'm in the area, I might visit the Goma Tei just to see how their soufflé pancakes are. I will say though, there's a good amount of parking and they are pretty peachie for having a Whole Foods and a Theater. Don't forget about that water fountain too lol. Kahala Mall was a frequent stop for me growing up. There lots of places to shop and a few restaurants (fast food and sit down). It's not as extravagant as Ala Moana or Pearlridge, but they are a great place to grab a cup of coffee and catch up with friends. Kahala does have some of the major stores and some boutiques. The water fountain is the highlight of the mall and is their center stage. There are frequent performances and the mall crew are awesome in setting up the stage and chairs. I particularly like this mall because of its size, air conditioned, and covered mall. One floor of stores plus additional stores upstairs. It has everything I need and no hassle. A great place to pick up a simple present or do errands. My job is across the street from the mall and it makes life easier that I can complete my errands then wait in traffic on the way home :) read more

Great place to come for a walk & have a bite on a muggy day because of the AC. It's our only indoor mall in town. Parking isn't that great but once u find a stall, it's worth the wait. There's even a Ross here lol. If u really wanna stay inside, there's a movie theater to kill another 1.5-2hrs. For myself, I usually come for a venti iced black coffe & vegan lunch. I try not to go to Whole Foods for 2 reasons... 1, it's way too expensive. They jack up the prices! & 2nd reason is that it's always so crowded & most ppl are rude there! It's a nice little mall, not so overly-touristy as Ala Moana, nice for the locals. Nice Macy's Mens store. Honestly, my only issue with this mall, for the size of it, is the lack of restrooms. Oh, they have some in CPK (for customers), the have some in the movie theater (for customers), but for everyone else? You walk to the middle of the mall, go down some stairs, then walk through a basement corridor that weaves and zig-zags, there is duct-work and pipes over your head...and you keep walking and holding it in until you think you must be halfway to Waikiki...then you find some small, pretty outdated restrooms. I can tell that the owners of the mall didn't put a lot of effort into restrooms when they built this place. "What? Put restrooms in a convenient location, in a location where we could otherwise charge exorbitant rent? You so crazy! lololol" I hope you don't have the runs after eating the roasted duck in Chinatown, before shopping here, because the walk to the bathroom is so far....you might not make it. But rest assured, the owners are receiving top dollar for the prime location businesses, customers and convenient toilets be damned. read more

There are also other restaurants around the mall. A theatre is in here as well. Parking can be a bit difficult to find, but just stay patient. Whole Foods is right next door too, which is cool. Kahala Mall is one of my favorite malls but I guess I hadn't been to this side of it in ages. My group met for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and I looked for a handicapped parking stall but there was only one and it was taken. There were several stalls marked 10 minutes and several unmarked stalls. I avoided the 10 minute stalls since we were going to have lunch there and the unmarked ones were taken. All the other stalls in this area were taken except handicapped stalls at the restaurant across the street. The nearest crosswalk was at the corner by Counter Burger and even with my cane my back and knee were painful so I crossed where I was which was scary as people drove pretty fast there. And I got to reverse my route to get back in my car. The parking alone was daunting so I wouldn't go back to this CPK again. That's sad as it wasn't their fault they lost a customer but a poor management decision. read more

Although my current home is a few miles away from Kahala Mall, I still return here to find new boutiques, do marketing, go to one of my favorite Starbucks and have my hair cut. The best things about this mall are that it's enclosed, air conditioned (makes for great escapes from inclement weather) and supports elderly community involvement through scheduled activities. The mall is located in my childhood "stomping grounds" and I am glad that even through the years, it has remained a good neighborhood mall. I often have happy memories of the times I'd spend here with my family and friends...just "hanging out". Yes, you'd think that because it's located in Kahala that it would have more high end stores...but, not so. If high end or designer boutiques is what you seek, you'll NOT find it here. read more

I think this mall is very simple and makes it easier to get what you need. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see a bath and body works,I hope I was mistaken. I like the parking here and aside from bath and body works you can get pretty much anything you need. They have a huge selection of foods, that are local. I thinks that's pretty cool. Kahala mall is okay. I spend half my time in town (Kaimuki) and half on the west side. Yet I still find myself going to Ala Moana instead of Kahala when it comes to shopping. Most of the stores here are boutique shops and unique finds mixed with Apple store and familiar eateries. My favorite stores to browse here are Complete Kitchen - so many cool things! but also expensive... Whole Foods for some good food and groceries, SoHa, and Sanrio (the only one left I think). The Ross here is really small and the movie theaters are really old and outdated... We like to come here and eat at CPK because of the easy access and parking, but that's about it. I don't think I generally come here on purpose hahaha. read more
