I have memories of Mānoa Marketplace since the late 70's. My father was a chef at a Chinese restaurant on E Manoa Road that was located in current tenant Starbucks. We'd go to the restaurant every so often and would cross the street to Manoa Marketplace (MM) to shop. Opened in 1972, MM is a complex conveniently located in the heart of Manoa with multiple businesses, such as Safeway, Longs, McDonald's, and a whole bunch of eateries. There's also a post office and a laundromat on premises. MM also boasts a farmers market that is held on Tue, Thu and Sun from 7am to 2pm in the courtyard plaza. I've had fond memories of dining at Paesano, which had an impressive run from 1992 and sadly closed their doors earlier this year in Feb 2026. I came here with family and foodie friends so many times where it was in our rotation of restaurants to patronize. Lately I've been dining at both Lady Elaine and Little Plum. They are factors which lure me back to MM. Overall, MM is a great place for people who live in Manoa to shop, dine and their daily tasks. My parents and I relocated to Oahu temporarily while my dad had radiation treatments back in 2024. The apartment we rented was in Makiki and so we frequented Safeway and Longs at the Manoa Marketplace for food and medical necessities. One day we walked around the rest of the complex and found some pretty great eateries. We ended up getting food from a few places there and it was great. Love the cool atmosphere and just the simplicity of this complex. Such a well rounded marketplace. From food, to small bakeries, grocery store, drugstore, salon and even businesses upstairs, the choices were amazing. I am severely overweight and my husband needs to accompany me into the family restroom to help me wipe after I use the bathroom. They were being creepy just like they weren't Dave & Buster's and not giving us privacy like we were some kind of criminals doing some kind of sex act or Drugs inside the restroom. It's humiliated enough that I cannot wipe my own butt, but to have an audience shaming me when I get out is even worse. Said they need to clean the bathroom. It was perfectly clean. I'll make sure next to me in the bathroom. It won't be they sit inside that room right next to the bathroom between who knows what with her own man part and harass people that are in the family restroom. Shopping and dining in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii... There are at least six buildings at Manoa Marketplace. Some buildings have two stories, and others are single-leveled, such as McDonald's. The main stores are Longs and Safeway. Other shops are smaller, such as Island Manapua, BRUG Bakery, Kay's Crackseed, Fendi Boulangerie, Leahi Health, Paesano Restaurant, Edible Arrangements, Manoa Sushi, and Le Crepe Cafe. The newest addition was Aroma Italia. Upstairs businesses include Allison Izu, Manoa Nails, Salon Kai, dentists, a dance studio, and jiu-jitsu. There's also a post office, a laundromat, financial institutions, and a veterinarian clinic. Overall, it's a calm and quiet outdoor mall. After the most recent renovation, there still are many trees, new common areas with benches, chairs, and tables, and a children's play area! I come here every so often. It's anchored by Safeway their biggest tenant in this center. Longs Drugs is also here, along with a bunch of eateries, post office and laundromat. They have Farmers Market every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 7am-2pm. You can get fresh veggies and fruits. They also sell arts and crafts. Manoa marketplace is located in the heart of Manoa Valley. It's a very convenient place to shop as it has Safeway grocery store, Longs drugs, a McDonald's, gas station, First Hawaiian Bank, and other small shops and restaurants including a Thai restaurant, bakery, Italian restaurant and even the crack seed store is still there. It also has the convenience of having a small post office in the corner.I feel safe shopping here especially with my children. Parking can be a bit tight on the weekends but otherwise there's always plenty of parking. They've been recently re-doing the parking lot due to the issues with the tree roots. They have a weekly farmers market which is small, but does have a lot of fresh produce. read more

Fendu Boulangerie and Brug Bakery are the places that I patronize most often and they both offer excellent customer service along with very good breads, pastries & paninis. For you folks who are not townies..........yes, in the heart of Manoa valley, there is a shopping center called - Manoa Marketplace. Not an overly large shopping complex, but the shopping center has a nice balance of businesses ranging from restaurants, drug store, supermarket, post office, bakery, dry cleaning/laundry services, banking/financial institutions, gas station, & doctor's offices. Mānoa Marketplace has everything you need and then some! This shopping center is in the heart of Manoa between Woodlawn Drive and East Manoa Road, and it's really a unique place to visit. There's many specialty stores, and restaurants of every cuisine within the shopping center. There's plenty of parking too! This is probably one of a few shopping centers where there isn't a true anchor store that brings customers, and literally covers all your needs. Safeway, Longs, and McDonalds with a Starbucks across are there. Need to go to the bank? They're all there within walking distance from each other. Need fresh baked bread and pastries and fresh sandwiches? There are several! Need coffee? There's Starbucks and Coffee Bean, plus specialty coffees at the bakeries. Post office? There's one? Manapua, plate lunch, and crack seed? Yes, yes, and yes! Ramen? Yes. Sushi? Yes. Italian? Yes. Pho? Yes. Korean? There's two! Chinese? Yup! Need a haircut and a manicure? Yes. I can go on and on. Even though this is an older shopping center, it is very well maintained and hasn't changed at all since I frequented here during my UH days. Beautiful trees everywhere providing valuable shade. Coming to Manoa seems inconvenient because it's not really along the way to anywhere, but there are several roads you can take to get here: up University Ave, up Punahou St and break off onto East Manoa Road or come around the back way on Manoa Road. I enjoy coming to Manoa because it's so much more green and lush here, and the weather just feels a little bit cooler. They just remodeled, finally after about 100 years or so... and it looks good. First, the bathrooms are locked, but they are cleaned regularly and pretty clean. After thus, everything else is a bonus ya? They opened their jungle gym which the kids adore. Id be careful cuz they little ones can definitely fall. Its probably about 10 feet high or so. I can spend a day in this little strip mall. All little shops with different flavors and charm. Pizza, bakery, sandwiches, drugstore, Italian Restaurant (my fav), a chain supermarket, Starbucks, all in one place for the discerning shopper. Great that they are pet friendly as long as you have someone with you to hang on to the pets while you shop! Since most of the shops aren't huge you just run in and grab what you want and can sit on the outside tables and enjoy the cooler weather with friends or family. I would be here more often if I live in the neighborhood. Since I don't I'm here several times a month wishing I did. Easy in, Easy out place. Really like the vibe and the people here. read more

I work with kupuna in the Waikiki area and we recently started a shopping day program where we have been taking about 10-12 seniors shopping here at Manoa Marketplace. We love this location because there is a wide range of services, and the farmers market, who doesn't love going to a farmers market?! There are more than 4 banks, a post office, a salon, two grocery stores, many restaurants and many other stores. Although we do miss the Breadbox, we enjoy going to the European bakery. The kupuna love it because they get to go on an excursion, socialize and get their shopping and other errands done! It definitely gets them away from the hectic Waikiki area. read more

Aesthetically a bit deteriorated with some empty tenant space, rusty table seating, etc. That said, however, it had everything I needed over a lunch break which included a tasty pho lunch at Pho Viet Thien Hong (upstairs), awesome monkey bread roll at Brug Bakery (middle of lower level), and a convenient grocery stop at Safeway market for sparkling water. read more

I love love love love this marketplace.... it's my favorite shopping center on this island and I feel absolutely lucky that I live right down the road... (dorm at UH manoa). The atmosphere is awesome, very calm, relaxing and peaceful. I moped my way to the manoa marketplace to study at the Coffee bean, but for all you Starbucks lovers, there's one down the road too. This place has literally everything for my lifestyle. I go to college and LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee bean so I go here to study, get some errands done, because they have a post office and bank of Hawaii. I get my groceries through the farmers down here because I like quality in my food and love helping out Hawaii and it's farmers... when voila! They have a farmer's market. I believe it's in the mornings on Tues, Thurs, & on weekends, not to sure because it's been a while since I've gone. They also have Subway, my favorite fast food place because it (seems) the healthiest and one of the cheapest. Mcdonald's and blazin' steaks is here too for the ones that aren't health conscious as well as other restaurants, like sushi, ramen, etc. And when I need random things for home, projects coming up, gifts to get people... you can get almost anything here! They have a Safeway, This is the most convenient place ever! (I guess every person has different lifestyles so it might not be for you). Manoa Market place is basically the only shopping center in the heart of Manoa valley. If you live here, you would most likely be shopping and dining here just out of convenience after work and during the weekends, if you don't want to drive far to get whatever you need for daily use. Manoa Market place reminds me of Kahala Mall, where you have just about everything here to keep you sheltered within Manoa and not have to really go outside. There's the quintessential McDonald's, Longs Drugs, and Starbucks, along with eateries that will make your mouth water with delight. While the Bangkok Chef is technically not on the Manoa Market place grounds, it's a good place to go when you are craving good Thai food at reasonable prices. Among the other places within Manoa Market place worthy to note would be Hanaki Japanese restaurant, Paesano Italian Restaurant, Subway, and Pho Viet Thien Hong, which is decorated pink inside. I thought that was just interesting. This place is a quaint shopping center where you could just do whatever you need here and not leave. The Safeway here is pretty good, although it can be improved. There is a good, but limited spread of restaurants and specialty stores to keep you engaged for a short time. There's free wiFi at McDonalds and at Starbucks. While I don't live in Manoa, I do sometimes frequent here when I make time to see here. Manoa is beautiful and it's nice to come over here once in a while. The Manoa public library is nearby as well. I love this market place! Located behind of like University Hawaii Manoa. The vibe is so cute! Plus they actually have a lot of store's that are good for different uses! The reason for the one star is the pharmacy. Longs Manoa Pharmacy is the WORST! For a pharmacy, they make way too many errors, even auto-refill when I don't select that option. One of my recurring prescriptions is often out of stock! And I rarely get an apology. This time, they claimed someone picked up my prescription (no one did), then changed & said they mailed it (I got no confirmation emails or texts, & it doesn't show up on my USPS app). The girl then told me to call USPS. Helloooo! I have no tracking number for them to locate it! I then got put on hold forever, so I called my doctor's office to see if they could help fix the situation, and the pharmacy told them that someone hand delivered it to my house (Story #3-suuuure--after all the above, I don't believe them). So looks like I can't get my meds and lost the $6 copayment that I prepaid. read more

A steal really. They have finally found a restaurant that can sustain itself in the old Shipley's space. It's actually a Starbucks. Everything in the future is a Starbucks. Watch out if you're planning on parking at Manoa Marketplace and walking across the street to Starbucks or Andy's Sandwiches & Smoothies, because they have people waiting in the parking lot to put a boot on your car. This new system is entirely ridiculous, since you have to either pay $160 to get the boot off your car or two different fines when they tow your car... I really wish I could give a zero-star review, since I was one of these people who had my car booted. I do realize it is my fault for not reading the signs in the first place, but the company Manoa Marketplace hired is EXTREMELY rude. They are a bunch of thugs waiting in a sketchy white van that try to bully you in paying the $160 fine to remove the boot. Even if you previously shopped in the marketplace and just decided to walk across the street to pick up a cup of coffee, they will put a boot on your car irregardless. I am so fed up with Manoa Marketplace, even though I have lived in Manoa and shopped at there all of my life. If Manoa Marketplace really wanted to crack down on their parking situation, they would not be going after their customers who walk across the street to go to Starbucks, but rather people who park in the opposite end of the parking lot who walk off the property all the time. So much wear at this place! Once used to be pretty clean and presentable, but after walking around here recently, the place seemed run down. Not what I was used to seeing. My comment was in regard to the new parking restrictions- if you step off property, you will be booted and towed. I was a frequent shopper at Manoa Marketplace, but now with the parking constrictions It makes it hard to enjoy the shops at the Marketplace. No longer can you enjoy a Starbucks and shop at Safeway at the same time. If you wanted to do that, you would need to park at the marketplace for safeway and then re-park for starbucks. NO THANK YOU! I really like this place because it's so "local" as in a sense that pretty much everyone there is friendly, there is always parking, and it's not flooded with tourists. Because I used to live in & around UH Manoa during college, a few friends and I would come down here for various things since it was nearby. Even though I no longer live as close to Manoa, I still like coming to this nice little shopping area that is located in one of the nicer & friendlier neighborhoods in town. One thing that there is to like about this place is that it has almost everything you need. There's a Longs Drugs where you can get most dry goods and other assorted stuff, a Safeway for grocery shopping, dry cleaning(Manoa Dry Cleaning I think?), laundromat-Manoa Laundry, bank, post office, coffee shop(2 but only the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is in the mall itself), and various eateries. Because I used to come here fairly frequently during college, I remember the place being nice & friendly. Thankfully that vibe is still here after all that time. As I mentioned above, it has a good variety of places to shop & get things done so it's a place I come to when necessary. In fact, when my washing machine was on the fritz, I came here to do laundry and got some dinner too. If you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of the usual places in town(Ala Moana, Ward Center/Warehouse, Waikiki, etc.) and don't mind driving to a place that's a little out of the way, this is the place to go. read more

A nice town marketplace. Pretty quaint, it has all the necessities for a little center. There's a mcdonalds, coffee bean and starbucks, dessert places, food places (burgers, italian, korean, japanese, vietnamese) and healthy options like Andys and Red Ginger. Also banks and a drug store Longs. There are public restrooms and also a restroom inside of Safeway toward the back! Decent amount of chairs outside to sit, most with tables so you can eat or bring your laptop. They have WiFi but it's hard to get in some places in the market... I think it's better closer to their office above Milano Freezer. Their Safeway is 24/7 which gives them 3 out of the 4 stars in my rating. Just kidding. No but really. It's awesome. read more

Parking is bananas here, it iterally drives you crazy! Other than that it has a good share of great restraunts, grocery stores and pharmacy. Complete with a post office, bank and some dental offices are there, my kids go to Dr Emily Bordner she is a Godsent they love her.
