Fun place to grab something to eat or hang out with friends. There's lots of eateries like Pioneer, Okame Tendon, Moku's. There are street parking options but unless you come early or at an off time, spaces can be hard to find. There is a paid parking structure you can park in - most places validate for one hour. There's music in the evening and various events hosted there as well. Fun place to spend your evening

Yelp Event at SALT at Our Kaka'ako what a fun day, exploring all the hidden treasures at salt . @yelpsandiego @saltourkakaako YELP!, Hawaii and Salt at Our Kakaako put on a special event for us. It started with pupus, product samples, music, photographs, and hands on examples. Then we were unleashed to explore all the shops. I have gone to Our Kakaako with my family and Dog. I have never explored the upper level. There were so many hidden gems, from the print shop, a photo Lab store, and record store, a eyelash and hair, washing salon, Orange therapy, Custom Closets, Fittness and several restaurants, Bars, cafés. Featured businesses : Kiikau Printers @kiikauprinters this printing store features different artists and you can save your old pictures with their special printing paper Inspired Closets @inspiredclosetshawaii this place had hideaway beds, hentertainment centers that turned into beds, couches that turned into beds, awesome closets. We came to this shopping center for a night market that was happening while we were in town. It was a great way to check out the shopping center and see a lot of different local food vendors and shops. There was A TON of people and lots of different entertainment and snacks. We got mochi donuts from Aloha Donut, garlic shrimp from Da Bald Guy food truck, and shopped a lot of local vendors for things like jerky chips, pet accessories, etc.

If Salt at Our Kaka'ako was a person, it'd be the effortlessly cool, well-traveled friend you secretly wish you could be. This small, yet charming shopping center is a treasure trove of culture, flavors, and aloha, brought to life by Kamehameha Schools. Whether you're here to shop, eat, or simply vibe, Salt delivers divine treasures within a highly artistic setting. Pro Tips for Max Bliss: 1. Treehouse: Ditch the camera phone and explore this gem for all of your film photography needs. Trust me, digital can't compete with the magic of old-school film. Even if you're just here to pretend you know what an f-stop is, this place will make you feel like an artist. 2. 7 Gradi: Unique, locally inspired gelato flavors that will make you question why you ever settled for plain vanilla. Seriously, why, when you can indulge your tastebuds in Ube, Riso, and Lilikoi? So ono, as the locals would say. 3. Moku Kitchen: Come during a less busy time period (midweek lunch) or be prepared to wait to enjoy the fresh island flavors or the delicious cocktails that live within these walls. The amazing news is that if you do have a wait, there's plenty around to explore. Salt is more than a shopping center--it's a cultural experience that wraps you in the warm Hawaiian hug filled with aloha. A must-visit if you're looking to support local, soak up good vibes, and savor the island life. Five stars, because six isn't an option! Mahalo!

Todays event was AWESOME! Although we only had an hours time because we came a lot late. LOL! But still the booths were interactive for the Keikis. And then there's A LOT of vendors with foods, snacks & things!

I love coming to place this place. It's every foodies dream. It's comprised of multiple eateries. It's anchored by Highway Inn, Moku Kitchen and The Boiling Crab; the three biggest restaurants. Salon Tiffany, Revolusun Smart Home, Lash Love Beauty Lounge, Verizon and T-Mobile are also located here. My favorite establishments are Pioneer Saloon, Redfish Pole Bar by Foodland and 7Gradi Gelato. The parking rates aren't horrendous. The parking is free with validation if you leave before the first hour. After the first hour be prepared to drop a few dollars.

Shopping and dining in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... SALT at Our Kaka'ako is a relatively new outdoor complex. There are nooks and crannies everywhere and even an upstairs. The directory is helpful because I can't even tell you where things are! PARKING: metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're lucky, you can catch free street parking on Keawe Street. The parking structure at SALT has reasonable rates. It's free with validation if you exit before the hour is up. Personally, I have visited: * 7Gradi Gelato - the space used to be Butterfly Ice Cream * 9BAR HNL - coffee and scruffin * ARVO - coffee * BEVY - nightlife * hank's Haute Dogs - hot dog *Highway Inn - Hawaiian cuisine * Hungry Ear Records - music * insomnia - Cafe * MOKU Kitchen - dinner * Morning Brew - coffee and bagel * Starbucks - coffee * Taco'ako - tacos * Village Bottle Shop - adult beverages There's a wide variety of eateries at SALT. There are many more that I want to visit! I'll be back! Note: if you need the restroom, ask for the code to unlock the door

L & L Hawaiian Barbecue is a tried and true place for plate lunches and it did not disappoint. The food was fresh and hot - and as a former resident of Oahu, mac salad and rice is a treat. For a burger rush, we ate the Mahaloha burger - certified Angus beef and again, it was hot and delicious. Their fries were great as well. My brother-in-law asked about a malasadas and told him that it is more or less a doughnut but was brought to Hawaii by the Portuguese who came to work the fields back a hundred or so years ago. It's sold all over the islands now. When I lived here in the '70's, a food truck parked itself in a parking lot and people lined up to buy it. When they ran out, that was it until the next time and it was not everyday. Penny's malasadas was good and delicious. It was hot and sooo ono, as we say it in the islands! There's a price to pay for the delicious food though - and it's not cheap! So go try, yeah!

The banyan tree in the shopping center is really impressive. A banyan can reach a height up to 100 feet and spreads laterally indefinitely. Aerial roots that develop from its branches descend and take root in the soil to become new trunks. It's really a highlight of this mall to walk around this enormous tree. High end stores, high end restaurants and other great things like art exhibits. Now that I live in California, I do visit Oahu every two years. At the time when we came here in 2019, we went to a photography exhibit by National Geographic. Now this is something I enjoy. I think tourists could enjoy it too and bring in the modernized look for Waikiki. I have been on the fence about the traditional vendors over these overpriced high end stores. I look at it in a business perspective. Hawaii drives its economy through tourism. We are in the United States of America and you got major cities like New York, Miami, Los Angeles and such. It's competing for more tourists to come to Hawaii. I hate to say this but Hawaii versus Miami? You got people with money that spend at high end stores. People now look at Waikiki like you're shopping on Rodeo Drive. Well if this is what attracts tourists - so be it to help the economy. It is a shame that it has to be this way to survive in this economy. The workers in Waikiki have pride in their job and make an honest living in an expensive state. I do miss the old International Marketplace. It was nice seeing vendors sell things.

There was this poor lady in front of me that tied up her dog on the poles (but in eye distance). It's so hot out right now and the risk of overheating or even kidnapped is a possibility. I could never do that and leave my dog tied up even if its 10 steps away because it could just take seconds for my sweet simba to be stolen. However, they don't seem to mind if you carry them or have them contained in something like a bag tho, but i think thats a little unfair for people who have larger dogs and can't do this. I also did not realize that the park across with the bridge also doesnt allow dogs on the grass, but it seemed like it just recently happened when the newer park re-opened. I think maybe a good solution is to add more trash cans around and maybe doggy bags like other communities that allow pets instead of hiring security to enforce pet owners to stay off the grass. Please don't punish the pet owners that are responsible but come up with a solution that there can be at least a happy medium for everyone.
