Don't like this areas not enough parking. Takes about 5 mins of your time to park and get out of the lot. Wards development with all these buildings is very poorly designed. Makes coming and going difficult especially the way they are revamping the roads. Boo! read more

It's the little things that really counts... South Shore Market is a branch in the Ward Gateway area so judging them in it's lack of tenants is quite unfair considering majority of their spots are filled with great places like Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, T.J Max, Scratch Kitchen, CorePower Yoga and several unique local shops I just adore. This spot did add more parkings that the condo has taken and I know no one is opposed to the indoor air conditioning with several seatings both in and outdoors it's a fantastic hidden gem to take a breather and of course the convenience of a clean maintained bathroom. My visit today was really to do a photo shoot for a bangle I made for a friend and since the Ward Gateway area is surrounded by beautiful greenery and decor I really needed that for inspiration. Theres a few different places to grab food, drinks and merchandise. Today I went and they had an event going on with different booths and businesses selling homemade items. It was really cute! I didn't purchase anything except for these mini donuts which was ok. Wouldn't buy it again but its good to try! Parking lot is pretty big. It does get busy though. And the ramps going up and down the parking lot are a bit tight just watch the sides of your car. Even if the parking lot gets busy, I haven't had any trouble finding parking. Just gotta be patient. There was alot of different stores in the area as well as in the market. South shore market is in the main level, level 1. There is public restroom that is kept decent. If you're in the area. Check it out! Shop, eat or grab a drink! There is also a play ground across the street, pretty good. My kids love to go there! I park in the parking lot grab a coffee, sit and watch them play for an hour. Great place to pass time. read more

Been a great venue for hosting all the dog-related fairs and exhibitions lately. Located conveniently near Ward theatres with a huge parking lot, this is a great location for dog ownes and lovers to converge. Place is always clean and with lots of sitting opportunities. This is a cute little business that is kinda far away from Waikiki which is good! It's quiet, seems like the type of place that locals would hang out in and around. Still a couple of blocks from Ala-Moana Park and Beach. They have some stores and eating places inside and several surrounding the outside. They are anchored by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, on the corner. But the spots inside that were interesting were the juice bar and another restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn't get back for either because the day we were supposed to it was super windy, seemed like it was going to rain and be cold. So, upon another visit, and the ability to enjoy some other type of food, I may return the star. A couple of things that stood out were the 1) The fish mobile that was on the ceiling and 2) The gorilla created with metal butterflies. But I like walking around here and I'm sure that when the economy is back up and running and this place has all of the store fronts filled, that it will be a wonderful place to visit. I thought South Shore Market was an actual supermarket until today. According to my friend, this building was supposed to be a Whole Foods Market, but the discovery of human remains during construction delayed the project, so Whole Foods built at another location a block away. The building was completed regardless. THE MARKET: The end result is a mini indoor mall that is occupied by about 20 locally-owned shops and eateries, a segment that'll never get old in this vibrant, foodie city. There is a small section of communal tables & chairs inside, along with a few outdoor ones, but they're unprotected from the elements. PARKING: A small garage provides complimentary parking, shared with nearby businesses Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Pier 1 and others, EXPERIENCE: Our friend wanted to check out one of the clothing stores here, so we followed suit. I was happy to see that a biz I had bookmarked for a while, Lucy's Lab Creamery, was here too, so I finally got to try them. The facilities are clean and well-maintained. OVERALL: An excellent use of space that was divided up to bring in more businesses to the area. read more

With all of the new condo construction in the Ward/Kakaako area, it's nice to see a space dedicated to retail shops and eateries. South Shore Market looks modern hipster with a cool Hawaii vibe. I love the clean look that is not too sterile and still encourages people to linger and socialize. It's refreshing to see small retailers carrying specialty items. In many ways it reminds me of Ward Warehouse in the early days. I was happy to see Lucy's Creamery and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The little market (adjacent to CB&TL) is also very well stocked. I wish we had something like this near our place! The beautiful long wood table with chairs and a green plant wall is my favorite part of the entire market. It's just lovely! I truly hope the shops and eateries not just survive but thrive! Its's a superb concept and a lovely addition to this area! I know I'll be back! read more

Parking is also very easy and free, but we were there around 5-6pm on a weekday and everything was closed, so it was not at all worth our time. The indoor shopping plaza is extremely small to begin with so unless there is an extremely specific reason you are here, it is not the place to just walk around and browse. read more

I am not sure why people are calling this a "mall" because the name of this place is South Shore MARKET. A Market, not a mall! When I think of a mall, I think of a place like Pearlridge or Kahala Mall, but, on the other hand, when I think of a market, I think of a lot of food places, some places to buy vegetables and plants and maybe lots of dead fish on wooden pallets, like Tsukiji Fish Market, or maybe Pike Place Market where they throw fish and people chant like maniacs to see them being tossed. This market is in it's infancy, so it still has lots of time to grow. Currently the stores in this market are mostly wabi-sabi type stores with merchandise that's cool, hip, and pricey for indie hipsters living the urban town life. There are a few food places: Lucy's Lab Creamery, Brick Oven Pizza, Nalu Health Bar and Cafe, Big Island Delights and Coffee, Bean and Tea Leaf but nothing outstanding to make you come exclusively to this location, unless you are patronizing the big box stores like TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and Pier One. The place looks sterile and industrial but it has a really nice vertical garden wall with ferns and other plants in one of the common areas. I think SSM will attract first-timers and customers who are used to patronizing a favorite coffee shop like Coffee, Bean and Leaf but for someone like me that's just curious, it was a one-time visit to try Lucy's Lab Ice Cream. I will, continue, however, to shop at the places I always go: TJ Maxx, Pier One and occasionally Nordstrom Rack. read more

This Review is for the New Wave Friday Indoor/Outdoor event that takes place here every 2nd Friday of the month it starts approx 5p-9p. I was totally blown away by how cool it was! Highly recommend family friendly and pet friendly. Parking: In south shore market lot where Nordstrom rack is, ward center parking lot, street parking, Biki bike rack is right there or Uber. There were approx 10 food/desserts booths set up which included Burgers and Things, Gyozilla, Big City Diner, Mailes Thai, Pig and a Lady, shari's sweets, watanabe bakery, bao boys, Gazoz, Ice Honolulu nd a few others. There was even a beer/wine garden for the adults. The other vendors there sold handmade jewelry, organic sunscreen, vintage clothing, bathing suits from Maui, boutique clothing, children's wear, plants, and even music and records! There was something for everyone. Most vendors can also take credit cards but some were cash only so bring cash just in case. Live Music was playing outside and the crowd was a great mix of families, couples and people that live in the surrounding areas. I am giving this 5 stars because inside south shore market there were other cool vendors that were doing henna designs, balloons for kids, face painting, photo booths, and even pictures of your eyeballs by Mori Art and flea. Toyota was giving away a ton of free goodies by taking a quick survey we took home a free flask! After enjoying the Wagyu burger from burger and things we had some ice cream from Lucy's Creamery and it was the perfect way to end the night. Great event to check out every 2nd Friday!! read more

I happened to park on the ground level one day and on my way up to TJ Maxx I noticed this place. So, I decided to yelp this place up. I didn't realize that this place is full of unique stores. South Shore Market opened up a few weeks ago. It's directly beneath TJ Maxx. All the shops are formed in a circle. They have seating when you walk through the front door, and also on the back end that you can lounge at. Some of the shops are Mori, Flotsam & Co., Eden In Love, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Holoholo Market, La Muse, Kealopiko, Lucy's Lab Creamery, Big Island Delights, Twin Islands, Big Bad Wolf, Salvage Public, Cameron Hawaii, and Brick Oven Pizza on Level 2. South Shore Market is located across the street, mauka side, of Bed Bath Beyond at Ward. It's a relatively small complex. Better known eateries such as Scratch Kitchen, Off the Wall beer garden, Lucy Creameries ice cream shop, Brick Oven Pizza (currently closed at the time of this review). Nordstrom Rack and TJ Max are here as well. On the ground floor, there are several boutique shops. It has its own parking. Can enter from mauka side or makai side of the block. The stalls are roomy enough for larger vehicles. The ramp to go to other floors is not something you want to speed through though!! I love how the parking stripes give you room where the stalls are next to the wall columns. I got tricked here though. Parked on 2nd floor, see escalators going to/from 3rd floor by Brick Oven Pizza, but couldn't find the escalators going down to ground floor. Took elevator down. The elevator is very roomy to fit shopping carts, easy to social distance with plenty space from each four corners. Turns out the escalator going down is under/behind the escalators to 3rd floor. Now we know for the ones who are uninformed and/or inexperienced with this locale! The restrooms here are near the boutiques, clean. read more

South Shore is great for a quick cruise through (less than an hour for sure). I do wish there were a couple more stores to shop in, but it's still a nice place to come every now and then:) I would love to see more unique stores like Mori or Eden In Love. I came, I saw, I conquered (the parking situation). I've been waiting in anticipation for this South Shore Market to open next to TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and Pier 1 Imports. Especially for Kealopiko, kanaka owned clothing company. Every retailer inside this space is locally owned, so if you're looking to support local this holiday season. Come on down and get your Christmas shopping done here. The traffic was a nightmare as expected on opening day. And all the sizes were gone of the items I wanted to purchase (save money). But overall, this open hipster market concept is really working for me! Great vibes inside. Eden in Love has the biggest retail space inside the market. Huge, open windows. The store was packed as they were featuring opening specials (I know because I'm on their mailing list). I'm happy to support this local business and they definitely got an upgrade from their last location. Also featured inside is Jasper Wong's (founder of Pow Wow Hawai'i) children's clothing store. There was a line around the corner to get into his store "Big Bad Wolf" so I assumed Jasper was hand drawing pictures for fans as he did in the past at a Macy*s event, but no he had a balloon animal guy inside. You know Jasper always doing it big! Mori also moved to this location and features local artists inside. These artists conduct pop ups with Art + Flea but Mori gives them this more permanent location to feature their items. (I prefer to buy directly from the vendor). It was a pleasant surprise to see Once Again Hawaii, they had a pop up in the middle of the walkway selling their reasonably priced succulents. I have major buyer remorse cuz I needed some new ones. But I vowed to visit their farm in Waimānalo first. I can't remember the name of this particular retail space that I'm going to describe next but it had partitioned spaces for various vendors including my favorite local fine stationary maker Bradley and Lily. It also had a hipster pet supplies vendor. Hanging plants. Hand dyed fabrics etc. it was busy and crowded in there but definitely caught my interest. Salvage Public is a menswear brand that I passed while trying to find Kealopiko's first permanent retail space. I just love, love, their clothing. It has a purpose and a message. It's built to last and the fabrics and fit are unmatched. Unfortunately they didn't have anything in my size but I'm excited for the calm after the storm. Also they have two dressing rooms which was always an issue in the past at Made in Hawai'i or their annual Town restaurant sale. Now they have a permanent location!! Lucy's Lab Creamery was there doing what they do. Selling overpriced ice cream. Lol! More food vendors are on the way, I think I saw a poke spot, and there's a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf here if you're into that. This Friday is for Fun, Food, Family and fr... oh I'm sounding like another [grocery] market. This review is for New Wave Friday at South Shore Market. This is my second time attending this family-friendly event. They've closed off a portion of Auahi Street in front of the IBM building for food trucks and popups. You can walk around inside and outside during the event. Is it just me or was there new food trucks at this event? I even saw a food boat? Hahhaha, I believe that boat belongs to Ahi Assassin. After browsing around a couple times, I decided to eat at this burger truck called Mega-Load Burger. I ordered the Mega Beast, a triple patty burger with bacon lettuce blah blah blah.... and pineapple? I know very touristy. Ordering it was a bad idea. Let me tell you why? You're walking around with a towering burger hoping it would not tip off the plate. There's no place to sit, how the hell are you gonna eat this beast? I had to eat it piece by piece, bun - burger - bacon - burger - bacon - burger pineapple - bun... Back the event.. I like that the event was outdoor and indoors. Shops inside also had their special offers. We were able to hangout inside, eat ice cream from Lucy's and drink iced coffee from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Other activities include DnB's prize wheel and DriveHui's prized wheel (prius). Spin DnB's wheel and win a prize. Scan barcodes with DriveHui and win a prize. And of course live music by the beautiful Kalena Ku (and Kapena). This was also a pet-friendly event. Bring your four-legged friends so they can mingle with others. read more

This is a modern newer shopping center, with a few heavy-hitting anchors (Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx). I've been shopping here for the past year and the merchants in the small shops are wonderful for shopping for babies/kids, friends, yourself (lots of clothing and jewelry), and there's no shortage of locally-made or locally-designed items. Nalu health bar is hidden in the back, and I usually get a cold drink before browsing the shops. As far as location goes, this is sandwiched between Whole Foods and Ala Moana beach so it's close to a lot of other things too! I love the vibe and feel of this mall compared to other malls on the island (I'm looking at you Kahala Mall). read more

To get network access, please contact your administrator." 1. What?! 2. Okay, who is the administrator then?! 3. How do you expect to draw in the student and local entrepreneurial crowd if your wifi doesn't work and we have to flood Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's wifi. And this isn't just my phone that can't connect, it's my iPad mini, and laptop as well. Three of my devices can't connect to your wifi and all get the same exact message. South Shore Market's become my go to place for to satisfy the itch to go to a mall. What started as a corridor with a few boutiques has quickly grown into a hub for new curiosities and social exchanges. One thing I like about South Shore Market is the environment it creates. The common areas encourage people to interact with other visitors and check out what new thing they've discovered in the area. My personal favorite stop? Lucy's Creamery. Their new location has become my favorite ice cream shop ever since the other shop up the road stopped carrying cotton candy. While I wait for my petition to go through corporate headquarters, I'll happily enjoy the Lucy's flavors and the company of brighter eyed and bushier tailed visitors. read more

South Shore Market is like the cool step-sibling attracting all the young folks while Ward Center is quiet and less interesting, with employees in stores who can't even direct you to shops you may be looking for that are in South Shore Market, because they haven't ever crossed the street and don't recognize the stores by name. Eek. That being said, South Shore Market has tons of great little stores in a beautifully designed building. It has an open concept and all of the stores have tall unfiltered windows so you can see products that catch your eye from way down the hall across the main path. South Shore Market is the newest addition to the Ward Village. There are small boutique stores for individuals to shop around for clothing, a convenience store, coffee/tea shop, and more shops to open in the future. Some of the boutique stores were former tenants of Ward Warehouse. They relocated to the newer location. South Shore Market has outside seating for individuals who want to chit chat and enjoy the warm/cool air while having drinks or a quick snack. There's also inside seating for individuals who want to relax in the air conditioned environment. My recent visit to South Shore Market was to get a small cool down drink from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf location. I noticed the Holoholo Market is located right next to the coffee shop. One day I'll venture into the convenience store to see what they have to offer. I would also want to explore the entire South Shore Market when more tenants open up shop at this location. Scratch & Meatery (sister store of Scratch & Bakery in Chinatown) for those wanting more than just an ample snack. **Many other projected food places still not open SHOPPING: Eden in Love for those wanting the latest trend in clothing and accessories as well as the cutest knick knacks, adorable small home decor and paper goods. La Muse formerly from Chinatown for those specialty gift or keepsake items. TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack and Pier 1 Imports are the big anchor stores in this shopping center. **Not all storefronts are open yet and many are not listed in this review. MISCELLANEOUS: Corepower Yoga for those who want to power through an "om" sesh. But perhaps one of my favorite things about South Shore Market is the airy feel and abundance of table and seating spots inside and outside of the Market. AND....abundance of parking!! It's like a small mall inside with a couple of places to sit down and relax. I ended up coming here because I was celebrating a friend's milestone birthday at Scratch Kitchen nearby and had about 2 hours to kill. I ended up checking out South Shore Market and thought this place is brand new and up incoming. I probably circled the mall about 20 times before ending up sitting at one of the tables there and people watched. I shopped at a few places before buying ice cream at Lucy's Lab Creamery to pass the time before dinner. Everything seems nice and quiet. My experience here at South Shore Market was good and one of my highlights of the Saturday in March 2019. I did enjoy the window shopping at the shops that have stuff to sell. To be honest, it felt like there was more restaurants than shops here. Not that that's bad, but it was nice to see these 18 shops and restaurants makes its home here at the South Shore Market. My favorite place within the marketplace is definitely Lucy's Ice Creamery. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Is awesome too. I usually stop by from time to time on the way into town for a nice cup of iced black tea to jumpstart my day. This time around, it was ice cream at Lucy's Ice Creamery and dinner at Scratch Kitchen. For the most part though, my experience here at the South Shore Market was a good one. The Ward complex gives anyone and everyone something to do, shop, and enjoy the area. I was here around 4pm on a casual Sunday afternoon. Didn't leave the area till 10pm. It was a nice evening to spend here at 2 different venues. The overall experience here at the South Shore Market can be categorized as being super, casual, quiet, eclectic, and mesmerizing. It's a mixture of restaurant and small business ideas woven into this entrepreneurial spirit of economic cohabitation. The market itself is very clean and maintained. They have a few chairs and tables for anyone to just hang out and relax after a day of shopping. Best bet would be to come here early and enjoy the ice cream before dinner. At least, that's why I definitely would recommend coming here - at least monthly. You won't regret it. South Shore Market is located in the Ward Village district of the Ward entertainment complex at 1170 Auahi Street in sprawling Kakaako hub of Honolulu. Many, if not all, of the merchants here accept major credit cards, which is a great thing for us folks who love the plastic life. They have free parking in the huge parking garage nearby. Not sure about the WiFi situation here too, but I tried it once and it was quite spotty. If you are like me, public transportation is right for you. Route 6 comes through the area and stops in front of Ward Warehouse. You can also take routes that travel on Ala Moana Blvd or Kapiolani Blvd, but you'd have to walk a block or two to get here. South Shore Market Is a nice place to check out. If you want something to do that's not Ala Moana, Pearlridge, or your neighborhood mall, consider coming here to South Shore Market at the Ward Villages. We've all been there, so now it's time to check out places and spaces you may have been missing. It's one of the better places in town that seems to be one of trending places to hit up in 2019. It was nice to see the Off the Wall restaurant and bar buzzing with activity and priceless laughter. We need more of those more than ever. While I did enjoy my time at Scratch Kitchen, the experience was good and fun. Wouldn't call it a favorite just yet, but I had a nice time with friends celebrating a milestone birthday - not mine. If you're in the neighborhood, consider coming to shop or dine here at the South Shore Market. Might be the best decision you made all day, especially the ice cream part. :) 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.5 stars for the ambiance. South shore market has proven to be a great addition to the area. It's there's many shops and great places to eat and community events. My favorite is the New Wave Fridays. Music, vendors and a street market on the adjacent street. I'm always stopping in and checking out deals at Nordstrom, getting some brunch at scratch. One of several workspace-friendly hotspots in the Ala Moana / Kaka'ako area. Open seating, air conditioned, and wall outlets available for laptops. If you need wifi and a place to get work done away from home / cafe settings, this may be a suitable option for you. The shops on site are a mix of small, private clothing, refreshments and convenience stores. In essence, a mini Kahala mall-esque setting for the Ward residential community. Free parking available in the on site structure, shared with Target above. Overall, hangouts like these help to improve the walkability score of the community at Ala Moana and Kaka'ako for its inhabitants. I am reserving one star from my review because of the unpleasant 1-hour limit on the Ward public wifi. As a deterrent to loitering, this decision is a double edged sword, negatively impacting those living in the Ward community, and patrons that do spend money at the on site shops. Residents of Kaka'ako may feel uncomfortable with such stringent restrictions on amenities. read more
