I really needed some professional help back in the Spring. I did a search online and saw the incredible hair coloring by Haleykai. I got an appointment with her and she gave me the best root hair touch up I've ever had! She knows how to match your hair color perfectly. I've had my hair done by some of the best hair stylists in the world from NYC, LA, Miami, and even Europe and Haleykai's knowledge of hair color, technique and artistic ability is one of the best I've ever seen. She is going to be a super star. You heard it here first! I did get a hair cut as well and really didn't want layers in the back as it was all even and long in the back so that I am not thrilled about having to wait for it to grow back the last 8 months. If you get a hair cut with her, just let her know no layers in the back if you don't want them or be specific with what you want, I had said a trim and wasn't specific enough so it was my bad. When you had a bad hair day and when you come to these salon you will really really had a triple whammy very very bad hair day (Fotos Attached). First of all I DO NOT RECOMMEND to waste your time and money in these place. As you can see they messed up my scalp. This is not a work of a professional. All of the color is all over my face too and my forehead and if I did not help removed those stains in my skin, they will not be willing to removed it all for once. I mean c'mon a woman's face and skin and forehead should be treated with care and if I did not help removed those stain hair color as if what the??? am just gonna walk out of their salon looking like a whatever human being? Second, they stained my grandmas sweater that I loved so much and now my grandmas sweater is totally ruined(fotos attached). My grandma is dead and that sweater has a lot of memories for me. Third, when I get back to my place I look at my forehead and on top I see some kind of skin irritation and I can still feel that chemical they put in my hair. I will wait for a week to see how that skin irritation in my scalp is going. All in all BEWARE to come to these palace. Forget about these place. read more

I got a haircut once from here. I'm a male with long shoulder length hair. All I can say is the women gave me the worst cut I've ever had. Back when I used to live in Michigan my mom who isn't even a hairstylist used to do a better job. She messed up my sideburns, neckline and it was longer in the front than in the back. My names bob and I remember joking with my wife saying she gave bob a bob. Anyways long story short I had to cut quite a bit of length of my hair to get it back to normal. My husband and I went to the salon for a haircut only to have our hair completely jacked up. I actually went twice for a haircut because I could tell something was wrong with my hair. What a mistake. I have thick long hair. There were literally holes of missing hair and the layers looked very disconnected and Unblended . There were also unevenly cut layers (longer on one side) I contacted the manager through email about my hair and she offered to have my 2nd haircut fee refunded and to fix my hair. I declined her offer to fix my hair but did agree to have have at least the haircut fee refunded although I said I would like both haircut fees refunded. Do not go here! Obviously Unskilled stylists work here and the management is poor. read more

I waited to post this because I was so in love with my cut and color that day but I wanted to see how it would go with me styling it... I'm here to report that it still looks fantastic!!! Annaliese did such a perfect job on the both the cut and color! Annelise is the best stylist hands down in Key west!! I mean truly works magic!! We came here on a whim for a Sam day appointment. We were at another salon who did a terrible job and came here to see if they could help fix our hairs. My sister and I were both booked with Annelise and holy moly were we impressed!! We showed her a picture of two hair looks, loose curls and a crown braid and Mohawk braid. She saw the photo and in under 60 min transformed our sad mop of hair to beautiful princess braids! We were so impressed with her work we cancelled our hair for my sisters wedding the next day to come work with Annelise. Again, with no prep etc we showed her a picture and she made it work even better than the photo! One look was Kim Kardashian's wedding look with Kanye and the other look was a beach wave with a loose braid intertwined. I swear I wish she lived on New York because I would work with her. If I could do a negative star I would. I booked an appointment with Kandie Back in August. I had her match my hair color to a set of extensions that she ordered for me. In our original meeting I expressed concerns about the extensions needing to be toned and my original hair needing to be highlighted to help match the extensions. In preparing for my appointment today I also texted Kandi about a week ago, letting her know that I had concerns still about my original hair matching the extensions and wanted to make sure that she had enough time blocked out for me (to treat my hair as well as the extensions.) I was assured that she always has extra time put aside and she would have time to do this. I showed up for my appointment today and expressed my wishes. Toning the ends of the extensions and highlighting my natural hair. She told me that she would only have time to do one or the other. When I mentioned toning the extensions (per our original discussion... which was her idea) she seemed shocked and even worse, inconvenienced. I emotionally started to shut down, because I knew that I had just asked her a week prior to make sure that there was enough appointment time for this and I was devastated because I had Anxiously been waiting so long for this appointment.. My husband also took off work today to make sure that I had time for this. And now I'm sitting in her chair being told that there isn't enough time for something that I specifically asked for and even worse it seemed that there was a misunderstanding that wasn't being rectified. Kandi told me that I had an attitude and bad energy. She refused to do work on my hair because I was upset about the misunderstanding. She said she would not go back-and-forth with me on the subject as I was trying to clarify that I had been clear in asking for this and that I was shocked she hadn't scheduled enough time. I was asked to leave the shop. She expressed to me that she had wanted me to come in and look at the hair. And when I told her that that was difficult for me juggling two children (one of which is special needs) she told me that she also had two children and no husband to help. Which her personal life has no bearing on my life or my hair appointment and if she has an issue working with people who's circumstances seem better or different than hers then she's going to have a rough career. For someone who is doing such expensive services on clients, I would think that there would be a little more professionalism. I was told that I had an attitude, and I believe that I was rightfully was entitled to one. She did not listen to my requests and twice ignored them (even though I did my due diligence to make sure the correct amount of time was blocked out.) and blamed it on me, the client. Then made me feel like it was my fault. There was no apology for the misunderstanding and no attempt to right the wrong. I normally would never write a negative review. But considering she is self employed there are no other repercussions to be had. read more

Laura is a true guru in the art of eyebrow shaping and maintenance! Have been on an endless quest to find a good stylist in KW for many years with an unbelievable amount of literal disasters along the way! Resigned myself to flying out of town to have hair done. Was so glad to discover a salon in town had finally become a "Redken Salon" and decided to give Kai and Company another shot. (In all fairness, when I had come previously the owner did a great job, I just hated the products used and for the price paid, the effect did not hold up to my standards!). Laura followed my formula I provided and did a really nice job. Everything in KW is unrealistically priced due to high rent costs and that is the only real issue I have in regards to this salon. I had bleached my hair to a platinum blonde in order to become the silver Fox I always wanted to be! She was able to mix up some toners and it came out way above my expectations, which in some aspects of my life are low, but when it comes to my hair, they are very high! Kelsey is my go to girl now and thankful we have a kick ass salon down here in Key West with a chill vibe! Also, it's right by Publix, a pawn shop, and everything a man could need. I had a marvelous idea yesterday that I would amp up my blonde color for the summer using a little box from Walgreen's. Needless to say, this was a BAD idea! I ended up with a lot of brass and orange tones:-( Called Kai & Co(heard about them from a friend at work) and they got me in today for a color correction. I had Laura and, let me tell you, I was very impressed! She took her time assessing the damage and worked out a plan to correct it. She made sure I knew the price up front so there was no sticker shock afterwards - nothing worse than finding out that the , "best haircut ever" also cost half your paycheck! Laura was focused and dedicated to helping fix my mistake. The color correction and highlights that she did look amazing and I will definitely be going back! Zero stars if possible. Kai & Co. is laughable. Don't go here. Take it from a local resident and not a tourist! The hours listed on their Facebook page are wrong, the morning of calling in for my first apt there was no answer for 2 hours after their opening time so I assume they were running late. Unorganized- red flag #1. They were able to see me that day, but let's be honest... the salon to people ratio on this island; anyone could get in same-day. It's the GOOD salons that have a scheduled wait - that should have been my second red flag. "Oh great...the hairdresser has my hair type and will know how to cut mine," I thought. 9 pictures of the same cut and a 10-15 min consult later, she starts cutting. She then proceeds to tell me her life story including a SIDS death story in her family (my baby was present so I assume this was her attempt at being relatable), and a non-stop complaint of how long she has been cutting hair vs the other employees.... Red flag #3. Blew my hair dry without any product (naturally curly hair- like hers!)- red flag #4. She could see the look of terror on my face when she was done. It was awful. About 4" shorter than I asked/showed her -no exaggeration. She made the excuse that my left side was shorter than the right and she needed to "even it out". Well after her cut, not only is my whole head of hair extremely shorter, my left side is the longer side!! Again. DO NOT GO HERE!! Take the time and effort to find parking downtown and schedule with a non-strip mall salon. The salons downtown are doing well enough to afford downtown rent- it's blatant evidence they're doing something right! read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I'm not really into slamming businesses but after what happened to my hair I had to post something about this salon. I made an appointment for a Brazilian blowout in March. Halfway through the appointment the side of my scalp started to burn. I let the stylist know that, and she didn't really say anything about it and kept going with the treatment. When it was finished I had red spots all over my scalp where it was burning. Now fast forward three months it's now May and the side where it was burning there is now a bald spot. I don't know if the stylist was new or she hadn't done many Brazilian blowouts or she had never worked with mixed hair, because I'm African-American and white but the integrity of my hair (excuse my language) it's fucked up. If you're contemplating going to this salon please do not do it! read more

We visited while vacationing for a blonde bayalage. We provided a picture with the color that was desired and they said, "Great!". After 4 hours the results were yellow hair with no visible blending. With the recommended conditioning and a trim were we charged $250.each and told that was a discounted price. That price did not include the tip. About a week ago I had a horrible color result from another salon, I came in to KAI & Co about 5:00pm and asked for emergency help trying not to freak out about having to go to work the next day looking that way. The stylist had just closed up and was getting ready to head home, but we both knew it was either her my savor (who was recommended to me by another place who didnt care and was closing) or a box from the store :(. She called for permission to stay late and took care of me, for two hours until I looked much much improved. And she made sure my hair wasn't too structurally damaged.
