Went in for a wash and trim and the service was great, only reason I gave it 3 stars and refuse to go back is because the hairstylist added on $10 dollars to what I thought was an already generous tip. Horrible experience, please do not take children here or go if you have ethnic hair. The hair dresser with long hair was very mean to our 8 year old. He was so rough when detangling her hair (with a comb) and scolded her about how to care for it for 30 minutes. I noticed her crying and asked to leave. He was very rude to me and was saying insults outloud in front of other customers and employees as we paid and left. My husband is furious! Thank God he wasn't there. Would not recommend. Today was my first visit. Gene is wonderful. He listened to what I wanted and gave me a great haircut & shampoo. The added bonus's: good conversation (not too much; not too little), low noise level in the salón despite having several stations working at once, lots of natural light, no sales pitch for product, and all for a very reasonable price. Some places are kind of weird about doing short cuts for women (even with it already pretty short, I've had to argue that, "yes, I know the picture I'm showing you is short, that's what I want), but from the reviews, it seemed like Key West Haircuts was good for a wide range of styles. I was not disappointed. I showed Nelson a picture, and explained what I wanted. He cut it exactly as I requested, and we had a very nice chat while he did so. The atmosphere is nice, all the stylist are friendly, and I thought I was going to get a top notch haircut, NOT!!!! I went to get a haircut and my hair was passed shoulder length, I wanted a long bob, because my hair is very curly and shrinks when its wet. I told them I wanted to be able to put my hair up in a pony-tail, and the hair-stylist understood. Well, He cut my hair with a blade, and I can't put my hair up into a pony-tail dry or wet. I am VERY picky and used to paying at least $80 for a cut. Don't be fooled by the strip mall look. The place is clean and my hair cut is exceptional. Oksana cut my hair with razor precision. It falls just right, bounces and feels so good. $25 for a cut AND blow dry. The place is mostly barbers with a couple of women, but no trouble getting an appointment. My hair looks beautiful and I would highly recommend this place. Oh yeah, saw a guy come in with scruffy hair and beard. The trim looked fantastic, almost like a makeover show! All with a razor blade too. I LOVE it! They have one FABULOUS woman who does up-do's and she was fantastic!! Gail (i think that's her name) was absolutely fabulous! I gave her general idea of what I was looking for an together we created a beautiful and creative style.
