When our waitress came by to check up on us and asked how our meal went, I was completely in earnest when I told her in Spanish that it was possibly the best meal of my life. She looked startled but then pleased. I hoped she knew I meant every word. Don't bother with anything else other than the seafood. The seafood is extraordinary. Most of it I've never even seen before but everything was wonderful. Since the menu changes daily based on what's available at the markets, it's not guaranteed these dishes will be on the menu but at the time of our visit (April 2012), we had the Galeres (something akin to a Spot Prawn but with a meatier body yet more delicate flavor), Anemones (Tempura style with a bit of Honey and Lime), Escopinyes (Cockles with Tomato Water and Oilve Oil), Zamburinyes (a type of Baby Scallop), and the Arros Negre. The Arros Negre was really some kind of incredible. I typically do not enjoy Paella but this was unlike any Paella I had ever tasted. Inky black and topped with the most perfect shrimp in shell, squid, and mussels, my husband and I devoured the entire pan and kept looking back at it longingly even though we knew it was completely empty. To round out our meal, we requested a sampler of desserts to be made and those in turn were also very, very good. Simply amazing. Amazing. If anyone knows me, I can be quite wordy at times but really, there are no words. Just go. *A heads up- they are closed certain days of the week, only open for lunch, and reservations are highly recommended.

Delicious. Beach side. You absolutely need a reservation. I somehow got lucky without one and got a table outside. Best for more than one person because everything is shareable. Definitely check it out. Here on a Sunday and there's live music close by. They seem to have a limited selection of songs but it's far enough away to be enjoyable and not too loud

Been waiting a year to go here ever since my Airbnb host recommended it to me as the best place to eat paella the last time I was in Barcelona. Despite the touristy location and the small establishment, Kaiku's food is some of the most sophisticated I've eaten in Barcelona, evident by the small window of opening hours. We had the carpaccio, leek frites, mussels, and the black rice paella, all of which were excellent. The paella has a flair and uniqueness unlike anything else in Barcleona. My only complaint is that the seafood could be slightly fresher considering the price and caliber, but all in all an amazing experience.

Selected from our beloved Le Cool: Barcelona book, Kaiku was a great find and the best restaurant we visited during our stay in Barcelona.. Be sure to book in advance as this restaurant was already booked out by the time we arrived. Lucky for us, we were there before they were open for trading and the waiter was happy to squeeze us in. Right along the beach overlooking the W Hotel, the uninterrupted view of the ocean was another bonus to the incredible gastronomical creations on offer. Our friendly waiter suggested we try the crayfish in oyster leaf, which he insisted tasted just like an oyster. We were baffled yet extremely impressed. Any connoisseurs planning a trip to Barcelona must put Kaiku on their to-do list. I can't wait to go back again

It's closed. It was wonderful. I'll never forget their Smokey rice. Perfect Sunday afternoon beach dining.

Quite pricey but the food is of phenomenal quality, especially the seafood offerings. Sit outside if you can to enjoy the sea view.

My Greek salad was very authentic and was as good as any salad I had while I lived in Greece. Very fresh vegetables, great Feta and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp scampi under the Tapas menu with garlic was equally good and oh so tasty. The smallish inside restaurant is best described as rustic and a tad warm. Instead I opted for the outside dining area, which has just a few tables but offered a very pleasant ambiance in the small side street this business is located on with low foot traffic and a very nice breeze on the warm day I dined here. The relaxed dining on the outside is definitely the way to go here especially during the summer months. From a negative standpoint, certain aspects of the service were too slow. I was seated pretty quickly upon arrival but I waited a tad bit too long to get my order in. Once ordered though, the food came pretty quickly on a positive note. However, for all intents and purposes the service stopped at that point where I had no follow up and literally had to walk inside the business to get my bill. Overall, the dining experience was still great for me slow service aside as the quality of the food and outdoor ambiance far outweighed the negatives. I would say if you are in a bit of there rush you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a relaxing dining experience with great food than this business will be definitely fit the bill!

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.

We got there right when it was opening and our waitress spoke real good English and I ordered a beer and the black ink paella. There were a lot of good looking dishes available though! If we were here longer, I would have tried their regular paella as well, I liked it because you could order a single serving, which seemed a little rare in Barcelona. The dish came out about fifteen minutes later, which is good for paella, because you know they made it fresh. I heard some places just nuke it and bring it out. It comes out in the cool looking pan that looks like a gold mining pan. It is colored deep black and has a huge prawn in the middle and lots of clams and mussels and calamari. The rice was cooked perfectly and the black squid ink sauce was delectable. Great service and my second beer was a great pairing for a lunch that fills you up perfectly. Highly recommended place, that could have been touristy, by was a delightful surprise!

Both my son and I are very picky about Lebanese food having been spoiled by the excellent Lebanese in our home town Los Angeles, so we ordered with trepidation. The very first must-try dish immediately set our minds at ease: please, do yourselves a favor and order their Fatoush salad. It's done so right, juicy tangy, bursting with flavors and the pita in the salad is made into a curly flower and gives a delicious crunch. We liked the dish of garbanzo and yogurt a bit less, as it was quite heavy and lacked flavor. My son was very pleased with shish tavouk with chicken, and I loved my halloumi dish. The service was slow (as everywhere in Barcelona) but it was efficient, and our Egyptian waiter had good recommendations for everything. He was funny and personable.
