Wow!! This place is easily the best shave ice we've ever had!! Every time we come to north shore we always get matsumoto's which isn't the best quality shave ice but is so cheap and has a lot of flavors. We decided to finally try a different shave ice place this time since north shore has so many places. Parking was in the same lot as the food truck park that has surf and salsa which is normally really crowded during lunch hours, we came around 2:30 so it wasn't too bad but might be difficult if you come at a busier time. They hand make all of their syrups with real fruit and you can definitely tell! We got mango and coconut with banana ice cream and omg the syrups were so much better than every other shave ice place we've had. The consistency was a lot thicker than the usual liquid syrup which made it a lot more flavorful. The coconut syrup was almost like a cream that tasted just like haupia. The banana ice cream was also insanely good, my husband talked about how good the ice cream was the whole drive home haha. The ice was also really fine and smooth. The shop has the cutest outdoor seating in the back right along the water which was so peaceful and shady. Super high quality shave ice and chill laid back vibes. Our new favorite shave ice place for sure!
We found Kaimana online so we decided to get shaved ice after a day of hiking. It's a little shop at the end of a small food plaza. There's a parking lot to the side which makes it convenient. The decor is super cute! There are photos everywhere and the vibe is mellow. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by two ladies at the front. We came on a Thursday afternoon. Both ladies were super kind! The one taking our order was very patient with us which we appreciated. We ordered three different shaved ice and all three were so good! I hope to stop by again before I leave the city.
Okay, a million times better than the artificial Matsumoto's, but also a little too cloyingly sweet and the lychee mochi was a little off-putting. Got the North Shore and it was great for a hot day, but not as good as Ululani's.

Wonderful shave ice shop that features organic and local fruit flavors where you can enjoy your guilt-free treat under the tree shade by water being hugged by a mild breeze. The service is expedient and they have a lot of flavors options that are made with real fruit, tea, and organic dairy. It's located at the start of Hale'iwa historic town so if you go too fast, you'll miss it. It's located by a parking lot and 4-5 other businesses like KBBQ, tacos, shrimp, thai, and burgers. Worth a stop! We liked Matsumoto's too but thought the fruit at Kaimana, being real, made the dessert less sweet and more flavorful.
Stopped by this spot as it was close to one of our favorite shrimp trucks and man, this was amazing. Their shaved ice is packed with delicious flavors and the flavoring isn't overly sweet. We really liked the way they put ice cream at the bottom of the shaved ice. The macadamia nut ice cream paired well with their mango flavors too! The ice itself is so smooth and airy. Some of the best shaved ice I've had in Honolulu. They also have an outdoor sitting area with a pond. Definitely a great spot to try!
Maybe my travel goggles are on - as I am realizing I am giving most of the places we went on our Hawaii vacation 5-stars, but this place IMO actually deserves it. Not the tourist trap that some of the others are - and felt really modern and uniquely decorated - has a cool hidden seating area around the back if you are looking to stay (or take on the road like we did). Size-able portion with some really unique flavors - personally, I got one called "The Sarah" as made by Sarah behind the counter - cannot for the life of me remember what was in it, but it was really fruity and delicious with a banana ice cream base as well which was SO refreshing. My partner went for one topped with scrumptious mochi balls and was equally wonderful. So many options to choose from and not terribly pricey for what you get. Thanks again for a great experience!
Shave ice is a must have if visiting Hawai'i. I made a stop here before heading back to Waikīkī. It's a tiny, quaint and homey storefront and I chose the Sunset because I wanted lychee. It was refreshing, light and not too sweet afternoon treat. However, I had to wolf it down quickly since it was melting quickly in 80 degree weather. Their backyard is beautiful and very calming. Lounging in one of their wooden chairs was relaxing. Service was friendly and welcoming. I had to pay cash since their credit card machine was not working.
I ordered a shave ice with mango and lilikoi syrup, topped with sweet cream and mochi balls. It was a solid shave ice, and I liked the syrup flavors. I also got to try their lychee syrup, which was probably my favorite. The sweet cream was a light drizzle, so I actually didn't taste much of it. They also gave maybe 10 mochi balls? At 50 cents a pop, the added toppings weren't worth it, in my opinion. The shave ice tasted good though, and the price was reasonable at $6. The service was friendly and quick, and there is a nice backyard seating area next to the water with plenty of space and shade.
FLAVOR (5/5): Solid shaved ice here, loved the flavors and the texture of the ice itself. Only wish that their mochi was better but it's the standard ones you get anywhere so can't complain too much! INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): The bowls come out super cute. The shop itself is very small but very aesthetically pleasing. If you walk out to their back portion is absolutely breathtaking as it opens up to a body of water, it's of green open space and patio seating! Super lush. SERVICE (5/5): Decided to go here instead of Matsumoto because we had Big Wave Shrimp for lunch and they have a discount if you visit this shaved ice place after and we're so glad we did! The workers aren't the quickest with producing the bowls but everyone was really friendly! TAKEAWAYS: You might see some small green friends when enjoying your cold dessert. Don't forget to check out the open space in the back!

Perfect dessert after eating and filling up on shrimp. Also not too pricey for the portion size. I like that they automatically give us straws since it can melt fast depending on weather. It was good to slurp too!
Kaimana Shaved Ice was everything I expected and more. I've had shaved ice before, but never like this. The ice was so soft and immediately melted in your mouth. Unlike the typical shaved ice that's more like crushed ice, this was perfect, and the flavors truly hit the spot. I was bummed that they had just run out of macadamia nut ice cream, but other than that, the vanilla ice cream and other flavors came together nicely. The location is small, but the outside backyard is huge with seating right by the lake. I enjoyed my shaved ice while watching the birds, trees, and river. It even started to drizzle a little while we were there, but it was perfect. They have many flavor options, so you can't go wrong. Ordering is easy and any questions you have, the girls at the counter will answer.

Love the little shack it's located in....and out back there is a little creek where you can sit, relax and enjoy the deliciousness. The place can get busy...be prepared for little wait. First time here. Amazing how generous they are with their syrup cuz no matter how much I sipped up with the straw there was more in an instant. No banana syrup but they did have vanilla. Doc had a coffee and matcha flavored one. Hubs had a three set flavor one. It is served in a bowl rather than in a cone or cup. Parking is free in a shared lot. Entrance faces the street. read more

What a cute little shop in Haleiwa town to serve shave ice. I was told they make all their syrups in house. Would recommend getting snow cap on top which is my go to! We got strawberry and lychee! Syrup is on the sweeter side They have a nice open area near a body of water right outside so you can enjoy your shave ice in nature and watch the birds and fish. Stop by and check it out! read more

Came here on a Tuesday and was able to find parking in the lot at 2 PM. There was no line and I was a little skeptical on how much I would like this spot but I am glad I went ahead and ordered. I got the North Shore sub the pineapple with Lychee and it was delicious! The shaved ice was not the smoothest and not all the ice was coated with the flavoring but I really enjoyed how the syrup did not taste artificial. The macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom was excellent! The sweet cream sweetened the shaved ice perfectly. Next time I would definitely request more of the fruit flavoring. read more

Decided to try something different than Matsumoto (plus the line was way too long there). Kaimana is a cute cozy shop located on the main strip. Parking is easy, staff is super friendly. The most amazing thing is that you can enjoy Kaimana Shave Ice in the huge, tranquil space behind the store. The greenery, the creek, and the picnic bench is truly perfection for afternoon snack. While Matsumoto makes you feel like a five-year-old in the candy store with all their vibrant colors and overly sweet syrups, Kaimana feels like a dreamy young adult. They have some unique flavors such as cold brew, and Li Hing Mai powder. I got the Sunset combo- Mango, strawberry, mochi balls and vanilla ice cream. Normally I really like Mochi, but I didn't love the mochi balls here. It felt like hard chewy gummies. The shave ice was fluffy and very fine, which probably made it melt super fast as well. My shave ice melted within a minute, while I was still taking photos lol. read more

Such a great stop! We went by a different shave ice spot and the line was outrageous, so we stopped here instead and I'm so glad! A steady flow of customers let us know this was definitely a good choice. The syrups were made from real fruit and tasted just like the actual fruit. Not any weird artificial fruit flavors. The employees were so kind and super helpful with suggestions and modifications. We got three shave ice with ice cream. They were so so delicious. And the spot had the most relaxing outdoor area next to a waterway and lots of green and trees. It was a peaceful, beautiful spot to enjoy a delicious treat read more

Came here on a Thursday. Easy parking ! I skipped Matsumoto and came here instead. It did not disappoint. Kaimana has a large private yard, saw green geckos on the deck. Very peaceful and relaxing. Shaved ice was so refreshing it melts in your mouth, I had to eat it quick since it was melting in the heat! Highly recommend read more

This place is FANTASTIC! not only is the shaved ice absolutely delicious and perfectly fluffy and light to the point of being as creamy as ice cream, but the toppings really make this a perfect cool treat on a muggy day. I had to stop myself from going back for another one immediately. The service is super friendly and they're very quick with getting your order to you and once you got it you can go out their side door to outdoor seating and enjoy a lake front view to lounge about and enjoy your treat. We are 100% coming back here on future trips. 10/10 and we think so far this is the highlight of our trip so far. read more

A must stop for us on the way back from the North Shore. It doesn't have the renown of Matsumoto's or Aoki's but that is honestly a feature, not a bug. Never have long lines here and parking in the adjacent lot is convenient. Prices are affordable if not cheap for quality, yummy shave ice. Love that they do natural flavors here. The kid insists on rainbow shave ice wherever we go and while that's not on their menu, they made a reasonable facsimilie with pineapple, strawberry and blueberry; wifey shared with him and ordered a scoop of mac nut ice cream inside. For me, went with my go-to lilikoi and lychee. The team here is so welcoming and friendly; they make you feel at home. Highly recommend sitting in the back area by Helemano Stream if you can brave the mosquitoes, it's so peaceful and serene. We opted to eat out front the last few times because wifey is usually mosquito bait. read more

Stopped here after going to the Big Wave shrimp truck since you get 10% off with your receipt. I haven't had shave ice in a long time so this really hit the spot. My mom and I ordered off the combo favorites menu. I got the Matcha cloud which was matcha, cream, and vanilla ice cream. My mom got the pineapple love which was pineapple, banana ice cream, and li hing powder. The inside of the store is really small but clean and cute. Only two girls working but they're fast and very sweet. My only complaint was that mine melted about 5 seconds after I stepped outside. Flavor was great and it was so refreshing. My moms only complaint was that she couldn't taste the pineapple flavor in hers. read more

Skip the line at you know where and try Kaimana. I like my shave ice really smooth and not really chunky ice. A small store front where you can order and enjoy your shave ice on some seats out front or in their courtyard in the back. My small suggestion is I wish they had some music playing inside. Husband got the sunset and I got the strawberry mango mix with Mac nut ice cream. Nice treat after visiting some shrimp trucks read more

Some of the softest shaved ice I've had, very nice. The flavor saturated the ice and it wasn't as flavorful as some I've had but that made it a bit more delicate, not bad, and maybe it was just less sweet, which is fine. The one size is a good amount, plenty and not insanely huge. They have some random seating outside which works. You park in the lot just south of the set of buildings, but a bunch of food trailers. The price is typical for Haleiwa, and about average for Oahu, less than some places in Honolulu, and overall good value. The staff are friendly and they work efficiently. read more

Delicious shaved ice in the North Shore. We were in the area and were in the mood for something sweet. I saw the reviews for Kaimana Shave Ice and decided tp give them a shot. I ordered the "North shore" which was bomb!! Definitely recommend this one!! My hubby ordered the "sunset" and his was delicious too! The mochi added to it, gave it an extra flavor boost. The service was great! The staff were really friendly and gave great recommendations on what flavors to pick based on your preference. Ok, this place has five stars for a reason! Once again, fellow yelpers have not let us down. Probably the best Hawaiian style shaved iced I have had so far. I've tried lots of shaved ice and I prefer Taiwanese or Korean shaved ice over Hawaiian because it's finer and often flavored within the ice itself and the flavors taste more natural. However, Kaimana does an excellent job with their flavorings. You can really taste the fruit in their flavors without any of the overbearing artificial sweetness that comes with many other Hawaiian shaved ice places. Also the ice creams are absolutely delicious. The Mac nut was my fave. The sweet cream was also new for me on shaved ice. If you're in the north shore area, give them a try! Also! If you go through the side patio door, they have some steps that lead down to a little slice of heaven by the water where you can enjoy your ice. read more

Got super hot the other day so my kiddo and I went for a ride to grab some shave ice and we were not disappointed! My kid insisted on a "rainbow" one which I think was watermelon, strawberry and mango- all flavors were super good and we even saved the cup of leftover juice to make a popsicle for later! Next time I might just get my own- so nice to have the option to not be eating so much sugar crap that all the other places put in their syrups! Fresh fruit syrups and ice cream made in-house! I've had this place on my radar for quite a while after seeing them pop up on my instagram a few times. The ice is soft and packed in, and there are so many tasty flavors and toppings to choose from ! We got the Heavenly (matcha, cocoa, sweet cream, mochi and macadamia nut ice cream) with azuki beans, and the North Shore (mango, coconut, pineapple, sweet cream, macadamia nut ice cream). both were incredibly ono - none of the flavors were too sweet and they all truly tasted like how they were supposed to, and complemented each other nicely. There's several spots to enjoy your shave ice - they have seating in the front, in the back, and if you go down to the grassy area behind the shop there's also benches looking out into the water which i thought was neat. read more
