On the way south of the state, we side-stepped to St. Louis at this Filipino spot. They serve meal plates as opposed to full size dishes "ulam". The fried pompano was crispy on the outside and tender meat. It was also not greasy. The mungo came a little late almost forgotten but still delicious. The star of the show is the dinakdakan which is the best I've ever tasted. To me it has the flavor if calamansi, nit sure if it was in the ingredient but it was just divine. I highly recommend and would come back here often if only it's in Chicago ;)

Not many Filipino restaurants in STL, but Kain Tayo easily takes first place for me. The environment is warm and welcoming, and the employees alone deserve 5 stars, they're always so sweet every time I visit. The lechon kawali is my favorite! It's super crispy and full of flavor. Definitely a must-try along with the lumpia, if you're in St. Louis!

The food here was really delicious! I have been wanting to come in forever and finally made it a point to grab lunch after a meeting down the street. You will be seated and there is a server, so plan to take a breather and enjoy yourself. I was really on the mood for some chicken, and the chicken adobo came highly recommended from conversations that I've had. There are bone in chicken thighs that are so juicy and tender, they basically fall off the bone. It came with a side of rice that accompanied the dish nicely. I also got an order of lumpia which are Filipino style egg rolls that were perfectly crunchy and delicious. The spot itself is cute and eye catching, it's quaint and feels welcoming. I'd love to return and try other items!

Food was amazing and authentic. I was born on the Philippines moved to California then moved to Missouri. Since moving to Missouri I missed Filipino food. Been looking everywhere but nothing felt authentic. This place is perfect. The service was very friendly and I talked my heritage with the owner. The whole staff was very friendly. This place was very clean and they had a karaoke for amazing times with friends and family. The food was great and tasted like home. I tried the Lechon and lumpia Shanghai which was like my mom's. The sisig was also great. Will be returning when I go back to St Louis.

I got the chicken adobo and my friend got sisig (?). Portion was decent, I'm not quite sure how pricing would be but I think it's comparable to other places. Flavour was good, I did find it a bit saltier though. Service is great, staff is really friendly. My friend speaks the same dialect so they were conversing well. There's plenty of space and lots of seating. I would definitely try other dishes as well.

I love the interior design of the place. It reminds me of the fancy venues you go to in the Philippines. Bright, neutral, and open. I ordered crispy pata, nilaga, lumpia, and gulaman. I also ordered mango + ube cakes on the side to take home for dessert and pandesal bread for my afternoon merianda (snack). I love how flavorful the sauce is accompanied to the crispy pata. The savory broth followed by the softened meat. The cakes, breads, and gulaman aren't overly sweet, which I like. As someone who lived in the Philippines for a while, I do admit that the prices are expensive, but different country has different prices unfortunately. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Despite ordering a drink on the side, we were offered service water without having to ask. I found out they spoke Ilonggo, which makes the interaction warmer and welcoming. Thank you manong + manang for the service. Halong ka gid always.

Great food and ambiance in downtown stl- best Filipino food in the city. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Love the ube ice cream and the bake shop in the back too.

Went to a street food event, but it was a little disaster. What I heard from customers before I came was that they gave them small portions until someone complained, and I was lucky that I got big portions. The price is still too expensive, but I think it's worth it. Nothing new in the ambience; it looks a little different but still the same.

Very aesthetic interior and friendly staff! Their homemade ice cream is DELICIOUS -- would highly recommend! They also let us pick two flavors (one scoop mango and one scoop ube). They were my favorites. As far as dinner entrees themselves, my fiance got the fried tilapia (which he really enjoyed!). The colorful little vegetable side salad that came with his tilapia was actually super addicting; great flavor. I kept stealing it from his plate. I got the sisig (fried chicken and fried pork combo) which came with lumpia and rice. The lumpia and the sauce were tasty; but I wasn't a fan of the sisig. The texture wasn't quite crispy and felt a bit oily to me. However the ice cream was a standout! Overall I would go back since the other items were great.

Went here with friends and we absolutely loved it! The food was so flavorful and everything we ordered was delicious. The lumpia was super crispy and came with a really tasty dipping sauce. The pork belly was one of my favorites -- perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside. I also loved how fresh the mango salad tasted, it balanced everything really well. The dessert was such a fun surprise too -- unique, colorful, and not overly sweet. The restaurant itself is super cute and cozy, great for hanging out with friends and taking pictures. Definitely a place I'll be coming back to again!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Saint louis!! The service and ambiance is always so homey feels and food is amazing. This picture definitely doesn't do it justice as I was hungry and dug in forgetting a picture but sooo yummy! I skipped it this time but halo-halo is a great sweet treat to end the night too!

Celebrated my son's 16th birthday. I've been here before and this is his first time. He loves everything especially the halo-halo. Too bad they didn't have the ube flan that he was really excited to try. Taste is consistent and always fresh! Staff are really personable and nice. Beautiful chill ambiance.

My daughter and I decided on an impromptu dinner outing on a Thursday evening and wanted to try a new place. Kain Tayo was on both of our places to try list. We were greeted and seated right away. It's a very nice restaurant. Our waitress was very helpful in suggesting foods for us to try. We ordered the pork lumpia and the vegetable lumpia. My daughter really liked the pork lumpia paired with the sweet chili sauce. I enjoyed the vegetable one as well, however, they were a bit oily. The vinegar sauce that comes with it is a great accompaniment. For drinks we had the mango juice and the calamansi juice. For entrées, I had the Chicken Adobo. It was my favorite. The chicken was very tender and had great flavor. My daughter had the Bistek Tagalog. She enjoyed the flavors but felt like she would have enjoyed the dish better if the beef was tender. We were pretty full at the end of our meal but my daughter didn't want to pass on trying the Halo-Halo for dessert so we ordered it to go. The ice cream on top was our absolute favorite and if we can just order that, we would love that even more. As we were leaving another staff member asked if it was our first time and inquired about our experience. We appreciate how everyone was friendly and checked on us. We can't wait to try new things in the future.

The flavors are plentiful, the creativity is unmatched, and the quality of the ingredients is truly unrivaled. I honestly don't think there's a better cheesecake shop that I've encountered anywhere in my travels. The staff is generally very helpful and welcoming, with Lindsy in particular being a consistent standout at the front register over the years. I've been a loyal customer for a long time and have easily spent thousands of dollars on Hank's cheesecakes for both personal celebrations and professional events. The product itself has always been worth every penny. That said, I was disappointed to learn of the new policy charging $2 simply to slice a cheesecake. When purchasing a $25-$400+ cheesecake, an additional fee for a task that takes roughly 20 seconds feels unnecessary and, frankly, a bit off-putting. While I understand that rising costs are impacting businesses everywhere, this type of nickel-and-diming can feel discouraging--especially to long-standing, repeat customers who have consistently supported the business. Hank's Cheesecake remains exceptional, and the product is second to none. I hope management reconsiders this policy, as it slightly detracts from what has otherwise been an outstanding customer experience for many loyal patrons.

I love to give black owned businesses a chance but more than likely I am always met with disappointment. You have to pay for your order over the phone, so naturally you would expect your food to be ready when you get there. That's not the case. Not only is it not prepared, there is only one line to be serviced at so you have to wait behind people who haven't placed an order. When I arrived the line was to the door. No one was at the register for about 3mins, okay their busy. Get to the counter we have to wait an addtl 8mins for food. Okay their busy. I pay for a banana pudding that is priced online for 5$ I am charged 7$ didn't notice til I looked at my receipt on the way home. The prices need to be updated on all platforms!!! We finally get our food the "Saturday Special" it comes with a burger, cheese fries & 5 party wings. 1st thing I notice is that we don't have cheese on our fries. Goes back up to the register. She says "we're out of cheese" and that was it. She didn't offer to take the money off, a complementary item, nothing. I asked for a receipt. Come to find out adding sauce to your wings is an addt 1.50$ that we weren't made aware of. I had about 10 French fries on my plate. My burger was burnt and barely fit the size of my bun. I had a half slice of tomatoe and a slither of lettuce. We spent almost 100$ on maybe 30$ worth of food. My cousin was so displeased with the service she sold her plate to a man in the line that couldn't get food because they were" sold out" of everything an hour before they closed. They had no signage posted. Nothing posted on their instagram to informs customers ahead of time. I called today to see if they would reconcile the situation. After voicing all my concerns the manager asked me what she could do to which I replied , I'll take a refund or they can remake the food. She sounds like she was going to offer a refund but had to check with the owner because again we spent close to 100$ . She came back to the phone to say that they could remake the food next Saturday b/c they only have that special on that day and she would pin my receipt to make sure everyone was aware. In hindsight I would've preferred to have my money back b/c who's to say the same thing won't happen next week or worse after me leaving this review. I doubt I'll return. But this is a lesson learned. Also her excuse for everything is that they were short staffed lol, this crap is laughable at this point .

I was excited to finally try this place even though I was warned about the baklavas being too dry. Sadly that's true. I dint think they are made fresh. They lack syrupy. I understand they don't have much food traffic but cutting down on the types of baklava and freshly making them should solve that problem. Probably the second worst baklava I've had out here. I see why they make shakes though. Since they don't sell ans have leftover stock. We initially sat down to eat but it was so awkward that there's no music and so quiet. My husband said they don't vacuum between the chairs which were full of crumbs. We eventually got our food to go. The second issue is the food. We got a sucuk flatbread and ans egg pide. This is not a pide, it's just pizza bread. Cheese is mozzarella, should have been beyaz cheese. Middle eastern cuisine doesn't use this cheese. My egg was raw and just throw in a corner. Could have saved myself money by just getting domino's, at least my food would be cooked. If you want quality, try Balkan treat box, Aya Sofia or Garbanzo. I would also like to state that there is one employee that works front and back. I didn't see him washing his hands once going back into the kitchen to handle my food.
