Been coming here for a few weeks now since I work in the area and have to say the food is pretty good. I always get the grace club on a cheese bagel and it's delicious! I give them only 3 stars because the customer service is terrible! There is only one nice worker (don't know her name but she usually wears a hat and brown shirt) I have never had an issue with her however the other front girl always ignores customers when they walk in and if she's talking to another staff member she will finish before she acknowledges you (which happened today - AGAIN). I'm honestly shocked the owner hasn't hired better workers especially since every bad review is about crappy staff. Hopefully they get the hint soon and fire the front girl with the attitude! I really like this place and want to like the food, but it is failing to deliver on food quality. I've been here several times and it seems that the food quality is slipping. Ordered a mocha which was lukewarm at best. Flavor was good...but serving it lukewarm just ruined it. The gal who was cleaning the tables was nice to reheat it for me when I asked... I can't eat bananas so ordered the French toast bagel which normally comes with bananas and strawberries and chocolate. I requested that the bananas be omitted. It was served with 4 skinny cut strawberries on the bagel. Lucky if they were 1/8th of an inch in thickness. The bagel was so hard and was very difficult to eat. A knife and fork accompanied the bagel but honestly, the knife could not even cut the bagel because it was so hard. I like this little cafe. I hope that they are able to evaluate their food quality and improve as it is a very nice cafe. read more

I always go here to eat and almost every time I go the service is bad. It seems like the employees don't want to be there. I went in this morning and I was told by one of the employees that she couldn't take my order because she was doing inventory and that there is no one else to take my order. She said it would be about 15min. How rude, it doesn't take that long to take my order! So I went somewhere else and not even 5 mins later I see a customer in there and the employee was taking her order! read more

The chicken pot pie is delicious, but they make only three per day. My friend and I have been there four times. The food is good, but none of the employees seem to enjoy working there. It is almost impossible to wrangle a smile out of them, and it should be the other way around. I want my food served with joy, not as if it's a chore to serve me. I won't return. read more

This place is a disgrace. Looking at their photos I was expecting great food with somewhat above average service. We got a pesto spinach egg bagel, banana walnut French toast bagel, and a taro bagel with guava cream cheese. Sounds delicious, right? The French toast was bland to say the least, the spinach bagel was a tab bit better, and the taro bagel... I could have gotten the exact same bagel back at UH and mixed guava puree into regular cream cheese. The girl at the register didn't ask if we wanted to eat in or take out. Another table had ceramic plates for food and glasses for drinks, and on my receipt it just says "take out". The bill came out to $20 and we tipped them in the jar. We asked for a cup of water and the girl said "we're gonna have to charge you. 52 cents for a plastic cup of tap water. Regrets for the tips. No service whatsoever. Might I say, overrated? Honestly I super wanted to like this place. I mean, they specialize in bagels. Carbs are my soul food. When I started working in the building right next to Cafe Grace, I expected to gain at least five pounds of pure bagel sandwiches. But alas, it wasn't meant to be. First, the prices. I understand it's fancy and gourmet and "fresh", but a $9 sandwich is really hard to justify. I tried the tuna avocado and some other melt, and I did not hate it. But I finished the last bite thinking wow, I could have walked across to the mini mart and gotten meat jun, gyoza, a Coke, and ice cream for probably what I paid. Then there's the coffee menu. I have tried the thai mocha, regular mocha, and just plain coffee and man, what is in that? There's definitely a taste, but it is really bitter and the coffee ends up lasting all day until you finally decide you are going to cut your losses and throw it out. The bagel puffs, I can dig. I could do with a little less bread, but the concept of a sweet version of a manapua speaks to me. Overall, ehh, let's get some tacos. read more

After months of getting my bagel fills at Cafe Grace, I finally decided to buckle down and write their review. When they first opened a few months ago, I was actually surprised at how low their reviews were. However, they did have their opening flaws, but one thing that I've noticed is how much they've improved and worked out their kinks lately. It's so much quicker getting your Lox of Bagels bagels and presentation has definitely improved (now they usually ask whether or not it's dine in and will serve everything on a plate if so). Even the restaurant decor has improved with additional wall hangings and table decorations (and I absolutely love the music they play). However, two things that have been consistent throughout the whole time: their lovely service and their amazing food. I live down the street and was so excited to learn that a bagel shop would be opening so close. Usually I get some combination of the everything bagel with lox (either the lox cream cheese, or the lox topping, or both lol). They give a generous amount of lox cream cheese and a pretty good portion of lox on top. Other standouts that I've tried are the cinnamon sugar bagel (the only thing my boyfriend gets, he doesn't even need cream cheese, it's that good), the honey cream cheese with fruits starter (oh my goodness, so sweet but so good... Even though I wish it come with a bit more fruit, but then again, not bad for the price), and most recently tried, their special French toast sandwich (so syrupy, but delicious). With their super nice demeanor, delicious bagels, and ability to still be so nice and understanding while I loiter (and use their free wifi) at the restaurant for far longer than most customers, these five stars are very well-earned... I have been coming to Cafe Grace since they opened and the food is good. Bagelwiches are tasty fare, I gotta admit the everything bagel with egg white and arugula is a winner combination. The service however, is quite inconsistent and they take far too long to process orders and acknowledge people with a simple greeting as they enter. During my last visit to CG, I watched as a construction worker walked in, waited FAR too long to be acknowledged and remembered that I myself have had this same experience here. This is no joke, I once ordered a dozen bagels to go, not cut, not toasted, simply bagel+bag+pay+hele, and it took over ten minutes. They were not slammed, just off their game that day. It is sad, there is potential at CG and I used to be a regular. When they started out the team was good, working the bugs out, but working on it and it was visible. After that there was a revolving door of employees and never quite as good service. I have now given up on chances, on the last experience there my cashier was awful. The barista woman (glasses, local and great service), was fantastic. But the cashier's poor attitude was too strong for her awesomeness and his treatment of us was just three much. Delicious! Just what we needed in Kakaako. Today I had the lunch combo which is an open face bagel with your choice of melt/sandwich topping. I had the Alfredo Melt (mozzarella, chicken, bacon pieces, spinach, and mushrooms). Comes with mixed greens salad and soup of the day (chicken noodle today). $8.50+tax. Winnahz! read more

The thing I like about cafe grace can be summed up in two words . I love coming here! They are always so friendly and the food is good! From simple bagel and cream cheese to egg white Benedict with kale and hollandaise sauce, their food in awesome! The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. If you're near Cooke St visit them, you'll be happy you did. read more

Looks like they got their shiznit together. Went there a couple times this month, and although the did hand me someone else's order they were quick to fix their mistake and give me what I ordered. I usually get the meat lovers pizza bagel and it's really good. My coworker gets the chicken curry salad and loves it. Bumpy start but it looks like they will hopefully be sticking around. read more

I ordered the mandarin orange and chicken salad, but didn't realize the ginger dressing was creamy. I asked if they had any non-creamy dressings and they replaced it with an asian miso dressing that was DELICIOUS. I will definitely come back for this salad and to try some of their soups. Waited about 1/2 hour as she was also fixing other people's orders there! What a great find. I took bagel puffs to coworkers. They were more than appreciative.

The sad thing is we never got a chance to taste anything and will probably not ever from this cafe! My husband and I are on this macaroon quest...so being that we were told of this place to try and other stuffs like the puff bagel... just so happen we were in the area on 5/15/15 at 2pm... and kinda excited..was amazed with the menu after checking out the place ...but when we got to the counter to order there was one customer which seems to be helped by 3 female workers...I stood there for a good 2 minutes without any acknowledgment or greeting, all 3 workers eyes seemed fixed on this ONE customer! I eventually made eye contact with one of them...but still no acknowledgement! I really felt like an idiot just standing there, and looking from the back of me...my husband called out to me saying "let's just go" after we proceeded walking out...nothing was said from the workers but something from the customer...when we turned back looking at them the workers had a look like "what happened"! It was an unbelievable experience...No customer service given. We definitely felt not acceptable in that restaurant! This is definitely an experience I will be talking about. A Humiliated one!
