A Cozy Cafe with Friendly Staff, but the Coconut Latte Missed the Mark I stopped by Bluetree Cafe in Kakaʻako around 3 PM with my cat, and the staff were genuinely friendly. They all came over to say hi to my cat, which was such a sweet and welcoming touch. The cafe itself is very cozy and beautifully decorated, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I actually came specifically for the coconut latte after seeing it in their Yelp photos. Unfortunately, the drink was quite disappointing. There was a fairly long wait - around 8 - 10 minutes for one cup. It seemed like one of the baristas was new and another staff member was teaching her, so I completely understood the delay. But when I finally received the drink, it didn't taste anything like the coconut latte I was expecting and it's the most expensive one though. I've probably had couple of hundreds coconut lattes, so I have a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. I asked the barista if she might have accidentally made a regular latte instead of a coconut latte, and she assured me, "Yes, it's a coconut latte." I took several sips, but honestly, it tasted more like a cold brew to me. Since I had my cat with me and the AC inside was also quite strong, I eventually went outside and just enjoyed hanging out with my cat instead. I really wanted to love this place because the atmosphere and staff were so nice. If the coconut latte had been made correctly - or tasted more like the coconut latte shown in their photos - I would definitely consider coming back. For now, though, I'm not sure I would make a special trip back just for the drink. I hope they improve the consistency because the cafe has a lot of potential. read more

Super cute cafe with fun drink options! I did go mid morning on a weekend and I believe there was only one barista working at that time. Because of that it did take a little bit to order and get my drink, but I was not in a rush and honestly for one person taking orders and making drinks it was pretty quick! Got the kulolo crunch latte which was something I haven't tried before & it was great! There's limited indoor and outdoor seating which occasionally can fill when it gets crowded. They also have vendors do pop ups occasionally which is always a nice surprise! I love being able to look at the different booths while waiting. read more

I finally got the time to check out this place after I heard about a kulolo crunch latte. Anything kulolo ima need to try it out! Parking: depends on the day & time you go but they do have a pay parking garage right across the street or if you get lucky with street parking but you also have to pay. Service: when I walked in it looked just like a mainland coffee shops I've been too. Pretty cool & clean inside. They do have an upstairs sitting. So of course I got the "KULOLO CRUNCH LATTE" but sad to say ima have to give this a 4/10. It just tasted like a regular coffee with crunch. I really tried hard to get that taste of the kulolo but I didn't. I also let my mom & daughter try & they didn't taste any kulolo. read more

I recently visited Blue Tree Cafe in Kakaʻako and had mixed feelings about my experience. When I walked in, there was one employee working on drinks. I could see she was busy, so I waited patiently. However, I wasn't greeted or acknowledged with something simple like, "I'll be right with you." After a few minutes, she was ready to take my order, but the interaction felt a bit awkward. She initially just stared at me without saying anything before eventually saying "hi." While taking my order, she also didn't ask what size drink I wanted. After a few more minutes, my drink was finished and placed on the counter without any verbal acknowledgment. The overall customer service felt lacking and not very welcoming. As for the drink itself, I had been excited to try the Kulolo Crunch Latte, but since I've been on a matcha kick lately, I decided to order the Kulolo Crunch Matcha instead. The drink was ok overall. It wasn't overly sweet, which many people will appreciate, and the dominant flavors were coconut and macadamia nut. The matcha flavor was fairly mild and didn't stand out as much as I expected. While it wasn't my favorite matcha drink I've had, it was still good. One thing I did really like was the ambiance. The cafe has a clean, modern feel and is spread across two floors, which gives it plenty of seating. It seems like a great place to study, work remotely, or just relax with a drink. The space felt comfortable and inviting, and I could see myself spending time there. Overall, the service left a lot to be desired, but the drink was decent and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Bluetree used to be one of my favorite cafes but I feel like lately it's gone a little downhill. My mom and I wanted to get some coffee and a smoothie today. We waited probably like 15 minutes for a smoothie with no one else waiting for their order. We are totally fine with waiting but the worker proceeded to hand us a smoothie that wasn't even filled all the way to the top. When we tried it, it wasn't even blended all the way. Super cute little coffee shop in Kaka'ako! Great spot to come by with your laptop and do some work on their tables upstairs, or just meet up with a friend and chat on their outdoor patio area. I tried their sunburnt coconut latte which features their house toasted coconut syrup. I've also tried their earth matcha which also has the same coconut syrup and butterfly tea. The butterfly tea gives it a really cool blue color. A lot of the drinks here have a fun color to it like the blueberry or lavender drinks. You can either park across the street or there is also a parking garage attached. Both are paid parking. They also serve wine and because of that stay open a lot later than traditional coffee spots. read more

Located in Kakaako near the corner of Dry Bar. Good spot to read or get work done. Seating out and inside on ground leave and second floor. They have a bathroom. The macadamia cloud latte is a must. I was impressed with the latte. The turkey pesto panini- I'm not gonna order this again. I ate it but it wasn't the best turkey pesto panini I had. It was just ok. My current go-to study spot. Great amount of seating since there's two floors. Upstairs gets a little chilly. Free wifi and multiple outlets! Also there are 3 free parking stalls on the building which is nice! Blueberry matcha latte is my fave. Sometimes it's hit or miss, but if the blueberry part is not too chunky it's soooo good. When I visit a new coffee shop, I always make sure there's adequate parking, seating, WiFi (if I'm gonna do work), and a bathroom. Bluetree has become one of my top coffee shops in town for checking all of these boxes! There's parking in their structure (scan QR code in the cafe to register your license plate #), plenty of seating inside (upstairs/downstairs), and WiFi if you plan on doing work. My go-to drink as of recently has been their Kulolo Crunch Latte. I also loved their Coconut Cloud Matcha -- they use Wai Koko coconut water! For the most part, people in the shop are doing work and being productive so it's not too overstimulating like many coffee shops I've been to. If you're looking for just a chill place to grab a coffee or matcha and lock in, I'd recommend checking out Bluetree in Kaka'ako! read more

Calm and decently spacious cafe atmosphere! I ordered a club sandwich and a strawberry matcha. Sandwich was huge and pretty good!! But the matcha unfortunately was bad. They're so skimpy with the matcha that it just tasted like milk. I could tell before I even mixed it, just based on the color and ratio. My friend got a blueberry matcha latte and also said hers just tasted like milk and a LOT of blueberry. They had a lot of ceiling fans and they were all on, as well as ac, so if you get cold easily, avoid the second floor especially. Do not get matcha here. It is not good. Can't really say anything bad about this coffee shop. Located in the heart of Kaka'ako across the stress of SALT (ewa side). The prices are great. The quality and taste of their drinks are amazing. I was told all their specialty drinks are popular. I opted for the Lavender Cloud Latte and it was great. I think I'll try one of their matcha drinks next time. Smoke seating inside and out. I see a lot of people gather here for meetings, etc. It's not that big inside (if you compare to Starbucks), but the outdoor seating is great. Today 10/07/25 I have visited again. Well, it's my third time for food/ drink and only my second visit... more like two years in the making... I'll admit the menu has gotten a face lift and this item- "LAVENDER CLOUD LATTE" oh what a delight... I'm a fan of Lavender and this drink containing: house lavender, lavender vanilla cold foam, espresso. So delish.. smooth and very nice. I recall it the same from my previous visit. And I like the setup. It still keeps that inviting feel. Nostalgic environment with any cafe vibe.. you know- the coffee smell, people locked into their open portable laptops and products of organic coffee- Bean/ grounded/ Medium, lights, and menus near the bar... where one can place n order with the person behind the facing counters simple and nothing fancy because to keep you there options should be visible. I love the vibe around the cafe it's not loud, people Are burrowed into their laptops and it's easy to waste 2hrs for a sit down. There are about 3 signs that say to give courtesy 2hrs only for staying in. My Lavender cloud latte is so smooth. The espresso- I feel is perfect not over baring. It's quite a sweet factor with iced coffee drinks when it seems fancy, it can be over powered high in sweetness/ sugar. I personally feel this drink has a perfect pair of espresso to lavender. It's very important that I not leave out the fact that Blue Tree's Lavender sugar or sweetener lavender... is in House made!! Let me say that again -- the Lavender syrup or sweetness used by Blue Tree Kaka'ako is made in house. This makes things pretty exceptional when ingredients are made in house... Stopped by for a smoothie and to yap with a friend super quick. The smoothing was amazing however I am so picky about texture and it was so gritty so I could not drink it. Just a warning to people with texture sensitivity. But as always the vibes were there, I was there 20 min before closing and they never made me feel rushed or an inconvenience. I went here for a coffee break and it is pretty aesthetic. It is located in a nice outdoor complex with a variety of stores and restaurants and street art. I ordered the Bluetree classic latte which is a latte with butterfly pea tea, and it was a bit sweet and pricy but the drink is aesthetic. This is the drink that is more unique to this place, compared to the standard latte and matcha that you'll find in most other coffee spots. read more

I stopped in here with my friend after she recommended this spot because they have plenty of seating and air-conditioning! Being pregnant air-conditioning is huge for me and I wanted to be able to order some food because I'm always hungry. I ordered a Matcha latte and an açai bowl and I highly customized both items and the workers were more than happy to accommodate my request and I was so happy. The atmosphere was calm and quiet while still being a pretty busy afternoon. We were able to chat for a while and really enjoy ourselves. I'm giving this place four stars instead of five mostly because the menu is dramatically smaller than the last time I was here. Used to be able to get a little bit more on the snack side instead of just drinks. However, the drinks are really good. I usually come in here for a latteAnd sometimes butterfly Matcha latte, which is unlike anything I've had before. The drinks do take a little bit of time to come out, but that's OK because it's worth a wait and buy a little bit of time I mean maybe like five minutes. It's a really nice and quiet space if you need a drink to sit and do some work. There's really great seating upstairs, which is usually not crowded. Sometimes it's a little too quiet that I'm scared to talk loud because I don't want to disturb other people inside. Second location in Kakaako right next to 1938 Indochine. They have free parking between those two restaurants. The restaurant is nice for studying and hang out with friends. Two locations in town. For this particular location, there's parking in their building? Though wasn't too sure, so we parked at Salt for less than $10. This blueberry matcha latte is everything! Housemade syrup with just the right amount of matcha. I need this beverage sold by the gallon-full. Their savory items are yummy as well. A few were already sold out by the time we got there at 11am, but we made do with what was available. Lots of medical students studying there and the space is small so you'll run into someone you know. Maybe not a place for private convo but casual convo is prolly ok. Pick up drinks at the counter but they will bring your food to your table. Unclear if you should bus your own plates after finishing but I just brought it back to the counter. Overall another good option for the area although I guess they've been there for a while? I've had the hangry morning which was good, small amount of avo, $16 and the breakfast burrito which was ok about $16. Pricy but what isn't lately. Next time I'll try an açaí bowl. read more

What a cute and cheerful coffee shop nestled in the heart of Kaka'ako on Keawe Street. The address says Ala Moana Boulevard because the building side sits on that street. From Ala Moana you will walk past 1938 Indochine, then Qing Mu, and the entrance to the parking lot before you get to Blue Tree Cafe. As soon as you enter the shop you will be greeted by a high vaulted ceiling and friendly counter persons. Seating is limited downstairs and outside with more seating upstairs. The Cafe has some nice coffee drinks by day and alcoholic beverages after 12noon. The food menu offerings also are appealing. Today amongst a few of us we tried the avocado toast as well as the mochi Belgium waffle. Get the waffle! A few are already plotting their next visit just for that waffle. Parking, shared with the two restaurants, is free before 1938 Indochine opens. After, the parking lot becomes Valet only. There is wifi and a generous scattering of outlets to plug into. What a nice addition to the neighborhood. Looking forward to returning! read more

Recommend trying this place out if you're coffee or matcha lover and looking for somewhere to get some work done! I came briefly to try out their drinks and ended up also getting food. I ordered the Purple Cloud Latte as I'm a big fan of Ube and the Bluetree Croissanwich. My order came out pretty quickly and I don't know if it's standard but they gave me a bag to put my food in. The drink was very ube-y which I loved and the food was delicious! There were so many option for drinks that I'll definitely be back to try more of the drinks. There is a parking garage nearby and here you can park for free and then get some work done. It is not shared with the restaurants in SALT across the street. I didn't stay to eat there but I saw several people in there getting some work done. read more

There was a program where loyal customers would be rewarded. I can't remember the exact details... However, I found my photo from over 4 years ago! I had purchased 3 bottles of juice and received a special bag! I'm not making it up! Anyway, Bluetree Cafe in Kaka'ako (there's a Kapiolani Boulevard location, too) is open again! Yay! Freshness in Kaka'ako SALT... Blue tree Cafe has opened its second location in The Collection building and what a stunning layout. Walking in to this loft setting with bougie touch of a chandelier hanging over a large community table is so cool and as I arrived early the kitchen was open yet so it was a sip to get my day started and instantly saw they had a Strawberry Matcha which I had to get with almond milk. Lovely smooth sip with two levels of seating inside and several tables outside as well, they do seem to have parking for the retail guests as well though I was lucky to find street parking right outside. Will definitely be back to try many of their breakfast items as this place looks like to spot to chill with outlet and hook on the counter seating which you know is a plus for me. I usually love coming to this spot but recently I've been let down numerous times. The first time I'll take accountability and say that I came about 45 mins to closing and I was told that they won't be making any acai bowls at the moment. This next time I came in on 4th of July and was told again that they weren't making acai bowls and it's 2:15pm. They said that the kitchen closes at 2pm which I find very odd since they close at 4pm and I'm pretty sure I've gotten a acai bowl after 2pm before from here. I really look forward to the acai bowls from here but it seems very challenging to get recently. read more
